Mail to iCloud alias account is missing

I have two distinct and separate iCloud accounts, each with their own alias addresses.  I prefer to use one iCloud account for email, so I set that first account up to automatically forward all emails to the second iCloud account's one alias address.  Well, they're not showing up there.  I tested by composing an email from the first account to the second's alias, it went through fine.  Shows up with the alias address on it in the Inbox (as it is set up to do).  There are no rules in place that would cause a problem.  The problem now is that I am missing a large amount of messages in the second iCloud account's alias address.  Unfortunately the first iCloud account was set up to delete after forwarding... (now changed that!).
So, any ideas why the second icloud account is not showing emails anywhere that are sent to its alias address (other than the test)?  I have checked on iCloud.com, also checked my Apple Mail, no rules or filters are set up anywhere that might explain this.  I did double-check the address was correct for the alias and it definitely is.
Ideas please?  I really need to fine out where these "hidden" emails are...
Thanks!
Lynn

OK, mystery solved.  I had my email account open on my Mac Mini in my entertainment center and it was moving these emails to the Junk account on that Mac.
Which brings up another question.  Even though my email is synced through iCloud, it looks like Junk mail is stored on the computer and not synced with iCloud.  Is this correct?

  • Incoming Mail to iCloud email account is disappearing.

I am losing random incoming emails in my .mac email address.  I first discovered it last week when my wife was getting emails that I was copied on that I never got.  Checked inbox, trash, junk, iCloud and never could find them.  Then today, just by chance, I had to verify a link via that email address.  When the verification is sent, I see it hit the inbox with the new email counter and then it immediately disappears.  I have disabled all my Apple Mail rules and Smart Mailboxes. As I mentioned, I have checked everywhere I could think of that it might be going.  This is not my work email address but I use it for a lot of stuff.  Anybody have any suggestions?

  • Receiving Mail to iCloud Alias

    Hello,
I want to know if iCloud has the following feature:
let's say your icloud's main email address is: [email protected]
i know that you can receive emails if you create a new email alias for example at: [email protected]
my question is can you receive email at: [email protected] or [email protected] (without having to create the alias)
in other words similar to gmail, you just type your main email address add the "+" sign and type any word after it.
should you be able to receive emails at that address?
    Thanks,
    Nick

Actually if you add a [email protected] without creating an alias. it still sends the email to your address.
This feature is also present is gmail.

  • How can I send email from my yahoo alias account in iPhone5 mail?

How can I send email from my yahoo alias account in iPhone5 mail?
I have 2 email accounts: [email protected] is an alias of [email protected]
In my old iPhone3 I had these accounts set up so that I could send and receive email from both accounts. I did this using the following settings:
    ‘Other’ POP account info:
    Name: xyz
    Address: [email protected]
    Description: alias
    Incoming mail server:
    Host name: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    User name: [email protected]
    Password: password for yahoo account
    Server port: 995
    Outgoing mail server:
SMTP: smtp.o2.co.uk (o2 is the name of my phone network)
    Server port: 25
    ‘Yahoo!’ account info:
    Name: xyz
    Address: [email protected]
    Password: password for yahoo account
    Description: Yahoo!
    Outgoing mail server:
    Primary server: Yahoo! SMTP server
    Server port: 465
I’ve tried using the same settings in my new iPhone5, but it doesn’t work. I can receive mail to both accounts, and can send from the Yahoo account, but I cannot send mail from the alias account. When I try, it displays the message: “Cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient ‘[email protected]’ was rejected by the server”.
I’ve tried to configure the POP alias account using combinations of ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.com’, for the incoming host, and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server. None of these have worked.
I’ve also tried setting it up using IMAP instead of POP without success. I tried configuring it using combinations of ‘imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the incoming mail server and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server.
Yahoo say that if I can't send Yahoo! Mail from my mail program, I may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port, and that if this is the case, I should try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. I don't think that this is the problem, but I tried it just to make sure - without success.
I’ve also heard that the problem might have something to do with the SPF settings of my alias domain provider. I’m not too sure exactly what SPF settings are, or how to change them, but from what I can gather it seems unlikely that this is the problem given that I was able to send mail from my alias account on my old iPhone3.
Any help much appreciated: how can I get my alias account to send emails in iPhone5 mail?
    Many thanks,
    Patrick

A new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Why can I not send e-mails from my e-mail account? I can receive e-mails. Not an iCloud account. It is a Bell Aliant account.

Why can I not send e-mails from my e-mail account? I can receive e-mails. It is not an iCloud account it is a Bell Aliant account. An account I pay for.
This is the second time in three months this has occurred. Bell Aliant suggested I contact Apple directly as the only option is to remove my e-mail account and reconfigure it. This will mean losing all my files. These files are very important as my account is a business account.
Bell Aliant thought perhaps it is an Apple problem and that Apple may better be able to remedy the situation without me losing my e-mail files.

    Sorry ?
An Internet email provider losses all your Mail and it's Apple's fault ??
Did they explain how the app managed to delete all of your mail and then not even let you have access ?
If that was the case the app should still be able to access the empty folders.
I know there is often blame and counter blame in these situations but there are limits.

  • HT201342 Hello, I have an Apple-iCloud account and have used one e-Mail address with that account. I want to add another address for my wife. How do I do it? Thanks

Hello, I have an Apple-iCloud account and have used one e-Mail address. I would like to add another address for my wife on same account. How do I do it?

    Hey there Raul,
It sounds like you have an iCloud account, and want to create one for your wife using the same iCloud account. You can do this with an iCloud Alias, and this article will help you do that. Keep in mind that any and all purchases made with the alias will not be transferrable or merged with another account if she wants to have her own account down the road.

  • MAIL will not allow iCloud alias to receive mail

I am not a novice. I have been on iCloud (sadly) since July 2011. Today I tried to activate an email alias which was transferred into iCloud. It's valid and has been for years, but not activate since I migrated to iCloud.
Every time I set up the existing alias in MAIL I get the error "invalid incoming mail server."  I have used the Apple recomendation to use imap.mail.me.com.  When it comes time to exist ACCOUNT under Mail PREFERENCES, it will never SAVE changes as the incomding mail server information is grayed out and goes back to "example" and is not accessible.
I have also entered p99-imap.mail.me.com with the same result.
Two hours of going to icloud.com or managing my apple id online have brought exactly the same result.  Although the alias shows as activated under icloud.com and although it is accepted by MAIL, the message is always the same (invalid incoming mail server) and the account change can never be saved in MAIL.

I have a business with MobileMe accounts and we are going to be forced to migrate to icloud in a few months. I have nightmares about it alraedy.
Since Apple doesn't give a good cr*p about this, I humbly ask if there is anyone who really knows what is going wrong and how to work around it?
Again: I migrated to icloud with my apple id in July 2011.  MAIL will NOT set up my icloud alias as it always grays out the incoming mail server and returns the error "invalid incoming mail server" and will not even allow me the save the information.
    Please help.
    Thank you.
    Mke

    Hi Roger
    Thank you for your suggestions.
I already have an ALIAS set up and receiving emails in my main INBOX under the alias name. It is a MobileMe alias from my separate business mac account.  It has worked as a separate "account" under MAIL for 10 years. It is an ALIAS, not a main identity mac account. The System Preference panel is ACCOUNTS, not aliases, so I use the word "account" when I speak of setting up a new inbox with a different name and password whether that is an iCloud alias or a gmail account.
We may be talking about the same thing but I'm not using a word you use.  I am allowed 3 icloud mail aliases. I am allowed 5 mail aliases under my business mac account. On my mac MAIL I already have three separate "accounts" or inboxes:  (1) my private mac ID account  (2) my business MAC account  (3) an alias from my business account. All three have different passwords. None of the three gets emails sent the other two "accounts."
Maybe I just don't get "icloud." I certainly got "MobileMe" in the past. The alias that is currently working as a separate "account" or "identity" under MAIL is proof of that.
I am going to delete the "alias account" from MAIL and call it a day. For me, iCloud is commensurate with Windows ME in the history of computing: a stupid change that resulted in nothing but aggravation for everybody who was dumb enough to sign up for it.  I won't be signing up for the next "big thing" from Apple. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of other users who feel equally "used" by Apple on this.
I'm marking the question ANSWERED and closing the thread.  iCloud is iCrap and nothing I've experienced with it in six months has changed that opion and the fact that you can get a gmail account operating in MAIL in 2 minutes but you can't get an iCloud email alias working in five hours is just more fuel on that bonfire.
Thank you again for your couresty and your time.  I doubt if my business account, which has to be downgraded to iCloud in a few months, will function at first and I doubt if the 10-year-old alias on that account will continue to function in MAIL.
    Mike

  • Alias address from iCloud alias address cannot be used to send mails via iPad

Alias address from iCloud alias address cannot be used to send mails via iPad

If you still have this concern: You can only use the alias address linked to the main iCloud account that you backup your iPad to. You can check that going to Setting-iCloud and check the Account email address.
I think this restriction is rather rediculous. I don't see why we can't configure an alias from a different iCloud account the same way we do for a Gmail account. I hope Apple fixes this in iOS 6.

  • How to have iCloud alias as default ios7 mail id

I have aliases set up with my iCloud email account. With iOS7 is there any way to have the outgoing email id DEFAULT to one of the aliases, rather than the main ID?
I know I can choose an alias in the FROM section, but I would like to have it default to one of them...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

What do you mean it won't be push?? I just did the workaround and it seems to be pushing to my device. Maybe I don't understand what push is because I can do all that I was able to do when I was going directly through the icloud email account.
You likely have a Fetch interval enabled as well (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data). So you're seeing your new mail, but it is being fetched instead of pushed. If you set the Fetch interval to Manually, you won't receive any email until you actually view your Inbox.
    @ izzy35
You need to enter your main account identity in the IMAP and SMTP server settings. Using an alias in those fields will result in the error you're getting.

I have to agree with you , I too was disappointed to see that with IOS 4 on my iphone I still cant send from an alias. This is a feature thats available with the .me web access so why not the iphone mail app? If they can't do it, then at least let me be able to use .me via safari on the iphone and ipad.

  • Can I separate the primary iCloud e-mail from an alias?

I know an icloud alias is not an account, but can I separate the e-mail so that my inbox shows my e-mail (primary) and my wife's inbox displays only her e-mail (alias)?  Because of restrictions on aliases, I can't make her alias a full account.  MobileMe Family Pack allowed my family to all use their own alias independently.

    This is Craig 237B,
I just found the contacts for my Outlook account hidden in an iCloud folder in Outlook.
I still would like advice to remove my new iCloud e-mail and return Outlook to it's previous state, if someone knows this?

  • When replying an email from my icloud alias, it's being sent from primary account

    Hi everybody
I have experienced a little problem which is that when I'm replying to an e-mail from my iphone using my icloud alias, my reply is being sent from my primary e-mail and not from my alias as it should be sent.
That's happening only when I reply from the iphone, not when using webmail icloud.com.
Has anybody experienced the same issue ever?
    Thanks

It may be that you have more than one outgoing mail account, and you're sending from the wrong one. From the Mail menu bar, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
              Send new messages from:
    choose
              Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
              Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
              Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
    from the menu bar.

  • Change iCloud alias to main e-mail and main e-mail to an alias

Is it possible to change and iCloud alias to your 'main' e-mailaddress and move your current 'main e-mailaddress' to the alias? PS: this is not Apple ID related.
As an example I have 1 main e-mail address chosen when I setup iCloud, but I would like to use one of my 2 aliasses as 'main e-mail' and move the originally chosen e-mail address to the alias position.
    Thank you.

    Julian,
I've got a .me account, which is also now an iCloud account (I have two of these).
I've created three iCloud aliases for this account, and I now want to change one of them.
I can change the alias Full Name, but, although I can select the Alias Address, I can't change it.
Any ideas how to do this would be helpful.

  • ICloud alias email address not receiving mail

MacBook Pro, OS X 10.7.5,  Firefox 21.0, software current.
When I send an email from my Optonline email account within Mac Mail to an iCloud (recently set up) alias email account, it is not received at the online iCloud site. If I send an email to my primary Mac address, it shows up fine at iCloud email.
When I go to the iCloud site, I can send outgoing emails from all addresses which are received OK back at my MacBook Pro.
Using Safari does not change things.
Why are the emails to the alias address not showing up at iCloud.
Any ideas? Is there some set-up I need to toggle on, on another device (iPhone 4S and iPad Mini)?
    Thanks,
    Robby

OK I think I have this figured out here. Looks like a case of operator error on this end in the beginning. Sorry for all the detail below, but if it helps anyone I hope it is worth it.
    1. Per suggestion of Carolyn Samit elsewhere, I went into Apple>System Preferences>Internet and Wireless>iCloud and deselected Mail and Notes. I then repeated the above, but toggled the Mail and Notes back on.
    2. I sent another test message to my iCloud alias address, per the routine set out in the first post above, with a BCC back to me, which immediately appeared in the MacBook Pro Mail Inbox.
    3. I left the Sent message in the Sent folder, and the BCC in the Inbox.
    4. I then signed into iCloud and opened Mail.
    5. Lo and Behold, my test message was in both the Sent folder and the Inbox in iCloud Mail.
Lesson to be learned from the different process I had used earlier -- iCloud mimics exactly what I had previously done on my MacBook Pro (which was not detailed above because it did not seem important at the time). Previously, after sending a test email, I immediately moved the Sent message into a special folder on the MacBook Pro, and also immediately moved the BCC copy in the Inbox into the same special folder in Mac Mail.
iCloud mimic'd these moves, so when I went there in the early stages of this  process (after having already moved two emails into special folders on the laptop), there were no emails to be seen at iCloud.
This last time just now, I left the emails in my Inbox and Sent folders at the laptop, and they WERE in the corresponding folders at iCloud.
Now, to toggle off Mail and Notes in Apple System Preferences and see what happens?
    Good night . .
