Mail toolbar icon problems

I switched out my Helvetica and Futura fonts, and now my toolbar icon no longer displays the red circle when I have unread mail.
Does anybody know how to restore this. I re-installed the original versions of both of these fonts, but it didn't do anything.

Having them installed is necessary but not sufficient. You must also enable them in Font Book. Take a look at the following article for more information:

  • Mail dock icon problem

The Mail dock icon always shows there are 7 unread messages in my inbox, when there are none. When there are some, their number is added to 7. This developed after I migrated the contents of my drive to my new computer.
How can I get rid of the omnipresent number?

I dont know how to solve this, but im guessing that the 7 could be from your old computer's mail application and theres probably a hidden file somewhere in the system that is keeping it there. :P

  • How do I delete an Apple mail toolbar icon

I need to delete the 'Archive' mail icon from the toolbar. The help pages all say just click and drag it out but it will not work. It is also impossible to rearrange the order of the toolbar for the same reason as the icons will not drag.

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. This seems to work to drag the icons, but still does not solve the problem of deleting. The drop down box has no delete option when right clicking the mouse.
You don't select something from the popup menu. You just cmd-drag the icon out of the toolbar.

  • Mail Notification Icon Problem

Every time Mail does a Send/Receive, the Dock notification icon displays "4" messages, but there are no new messages. If there are any new mail messages, the count is appended (if there is one new message, the icon displays "5" messages). Left-clicking the dock icon makes the red "4" disappear, but it returns each time Mail does another Send/Receive. Coincidentally, I have four mail accounts in Mail.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

Does Mail also show that number of unread messages next to any or your accounts’ Inboxes? What type of mail account is it (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?

  • How do I add icons to a mail toolbar?

I can see how to add standard icons to a mail toolbar but are these the only icons available? Are there icons for instance to move to the next (or previous) mail message without having to go in and out of a message?

What exists in Mail/View/Customize Toolbar is all there is.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • How do I remove an icon from my Apple Mail toolbar?

I know how to customize the mail toolbar, but mail isn't letting me remove a default icon.

Try holding down the command key, click and hold, then drag down until you get a puff of smoke.

  • I've lost the 'send' icon on my mail toolbar and can not find or retrieve it.

I have lost the 'send' icon on my Mail toolbar and am unable to retrieve it so I am unable to send an email.

    Launch Mail.
    Start composing a new mail.
    Click "View" menu.
    Select "Customize Toolbar".
From the dropdown drag the "Send" button to the top of the window.
    Click "Done".

  • Is Apple going to restore a contacts icon in the mail toolbar? It is missing in Yosemiti !

Yosemiti does not include an address icon in the mail toolbar. I am unable to BCC a list of addresses when forwarding an e-mail ????

Sorry I didn't use very clear language - by green blob, I mean the maximise button in the traffic light system on the top left of an email - underneath mine is a dialogue box that lists various options, adding fields like cc or bcc, which was someone asked about.
Don't know why the contacts icon disappeared. Perhaps Apple will restore it in the next update.

  • Can you add cut copy and paste icons to mail toolbar?

Can you add a cut, copy and paste icons to the mail toolbar in macmail?

I guess that these were considered such fundamental operations, each with an already existing variety of operations (mouse, keyboard, right-click, ctrl+c etc) that the Thunderbird devs didn't choose to replicate them again. Similarly, keyboard selection is relied upon a great deal in Thunderbird, rather than adding all the ugly (IMHO) checkboxes that now counterintuitively litter all Windows Explorer displays.
So, if the devs expected you to use ctrl+right+shift to select the current text word by word, then ctrl+c to copy it, ctrl+x to cut it and ctrl+v to paste it would be quite natural, since your hands are already at the keyboard. Similarly, if you prefer to select by mouse, a right-click also offers options to copy, cut and paste, and there is also the possibility to drag selected text, serving cut and paste in one action. So it could be argued that there is no need for buttons.
There used to be additional button add-ons for Thunderbird, but those that I know about don't appear to be under active maintenance and don't currently work with TB 31.0.
You could build your own using a Custom Buttons add-on, but it isn't easy to find the appropriate function call to attach to your home-made buttons. :-(
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/custom-buttons/
Here's the code you need if you try this add-on:
    cut: goDoCommand("cmd_cut")
    copy: goDoCommand("cmd_copy")
    paste: goDoCommand("cmd_paste")
    (taken from: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyconfig_extension:_Thunderbird )
The tedious bit is finding suitable icons; the defaults are pretty but unhelpful coloured stars.

    Hi!
I had same problem, but found solution over this forum.
You should add new smart-box and ask it to show UNREAD mails. It will sort all this "hidden" mails to smart-box, you'll read'em and get rid of this icon on dash.

  • Mail app - toolbar icons corrupt

    I'm running latest OS X 10.10.2 version.
Initially I didn't notice but after a while I observed that the "Mark messages as read/unread" icons, in the mail app toolbar, are showing as blank.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue or something similar in other yosemite Apps?

Click "View" menu in the Mail Toolbar and select "Customize Toolbar" from the drop down.
Drag the Read Unread icons to the Toolbar.
At the bottom of the sheet, in the popup menu next to "Show" select Icons and Text".
    Click done.

  • Menu toolbar icons not displayed in colour when deployed on the Web

    Hello!
We are developing an application using Forms6i on Windows NT.
Our problem is that menu toolbar icons are not displayed in colour when the application is deployed on the Web using lookAndFeel = generic. This is the case both when using Microsoft IE5 and Netscape 4.5. When lookAndFeel = oracle, however, the icons are displayed in colour.
The icons are stored as *.gif files in the same directory as the application *.html file. It does not help to create a virtual path /web_icons/ in the www listener and edit the parameter default.icons.iconpath in the file Registry.dat.
When running the application as client/server, the menu toolbar icons are displayed in colour as expected.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
