Mail unable to send, Again

For the second time in six months I can't send any mail last time it was due to the cloud introduction but I don't know what has changed now. I just keep getting a message saying it can't connect to the server and stuff about certificates being out of date. Is there a way to fix this?

The servers changed on the switch to iCloud & dropping of MobilMe on July 1st, a very few stragglers have had recieve still work.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

Unable to send email from MAIL using OS X 10.7.4
For the past couple months, I can recieve but cannot send email messages. Called sever, but was told the problem was with my mail program. On my Mac Book OS X 10.6.8 am able to send but not receive. Any ideas as to solving this dilema?

can you open mail, then preferences accounts please?
Then tell  is your outgoing mail server the same as the account you are in? and is the box "use only this server" checked?
If not, it could be that- and then the various mail servers, instead of matching your account willl scramble at random..so no your dot mac mail will NOT go out on your aol server...etc.
See? Open it- then also tell how many mail accounts you have.

  • .Mac Mail Unable to Send

I am able to receive e-mail from mac.com account and from Mindspring. I can usually (but not always send mail from Mindspring. For the last several days I have been unable to send e-mail from mac.com account. Last night I tried for several hours to send e-mail from mindspring using MacBook Pro but was unsuccessful. In frustration, I re-typed the e-mail on my PC and sent it via mindspring without any problems. 2-3 hours earlier I was able to send e-mail through my MacBook. I changed no settings in the interim and obviously mindspring was working fine at the time. I am new to Mac and want to change my e-mail to mac.com but it has been wholly unreliable. ANY HELP?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
With each account, what SMTP are you using as the Outgoing Server? If for the .mac account you are using smtp.mac.com, are you presenting to on Port 587? If not, try changing to Port 587.
For the Mindspring account, are you using the Earthlink authenticated SMTP, or another?
    More info, please.

  • Mail unable to send any emails

    Hi,
In my office I have setup my MacBook Pro Mail. I can receive emails but can't send any out. I read that I should use Connection Doctor. I know my incoming mail server address but not the smtp. How should I trouble shoot?

guys refuse to share the outgoing server details. Hence, I am only able to retrieve my emails but am unable to send out.
Perhaps they are not clear on what settings you need? The settings you need are what any user with any computer (Mac, Windows, Unix, Linux, whatever) would need to configure their email program. You aren't asking for anything special here.
Consider showing the article I mentioned (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277) to your IT person so he/she sees what it is your are looking for (and why...you want to use your email).
If that does not work you might want to seek someone higher up the IT chain to talk to (Or go to your superior and ask them to intercede as you are being denied what you need to use your tools.)
Asking for one's email settings is not like asking for nuclear missile launch codes from the US government. If you are someone who has an account given to you by your organization you need the settings to use the account assigned to you. Unless of course they intend for you to only be able to receive and not send. In which case, everything is as it should be.

  • Mail Problem: No outbox, no sent mail unable to send mail

I wiped my HD and restored my account from back up. All seems to be okay EXCEPT
When I open MAIL I have no OUTBOX, my SENT mail is empty and while it appears to let me create a new email and send it it does not go to outbox or sent mail, and no email goes out.
There is no activity from the mail activity pane on send.
I have deleted the mail.plist and the account and then added it back in. Same results.
If I switch to a admin/test account on the same device, MAIL works correctly.
    Any thoughts?

I'm not sure it was a migration assistant malfunction. Last month I started using an iMac I purchased in May. Upgraded to Mountain Lion. Did not use migration assistant, but did import my mailboxes. They are in an Import folder and I can get to them when I want. Not the ideal situation, but I'll work on it.
However, I just realized that 13 of the messages I've sent in the last week never did get sent. Some messages I sent did go, others didn't. I realized the problem when I went to my Sent folder to get some info from an email I sent someone and could not find it. I did not see an Outbox in my list of folders on the left. However, when I did a search for the name of the person this email was to have been sent to, the email came up and indicated it was in the Outbox. The word Outbox was a link, so I clicked on it. THEN the Outbox showed up and contents included 13 messages I had thought were already sent!
After testing sending and receiving from my Webmail, I checked my account settings again to ensure they were correct; they were. I quit Mail and re-opened . . . and all those messages in the Outbox immediately were sent! My Outbox is still in the list of folders.
Before I switched to my new computer and updated OS, sometimes I would get a message that said the message couldn't be sent and it let me choose another server if I wanted. I would usually choose the same server and it would be sent when I hit go. I always thought it was a problem with the server for some reason. I want Mail to notify me if a message isn't sent when I hit Send. I don't see an option for that in Preferences. Any ideas? I really don't want to always have to double-check to make sure each message I sent goes in the Sent folder!
    Thank you!

  • Able to recieve mail, unable to send mail

I am at a friends house for the next week and I am on the wirless network. I am recieving my mail from my website, but everytime I try and send something, mail gives me a error message that the outgoing server could not be found.
I changed my outgoing SMTP to match what they have in their MS Outlook, but still no joy. What do I need to do to fix it so I can send mail.

When I have this trouble I use a free G-mail account for the sending only. I still use the Mail app. You first sign up online for a Google mail (GMail) account then ADD it to your account list in Mail-Preferences with the correct SMTP settings for the GMail account (see below). Then under your ISP account choose the SMTP server that you just set up. The Mail app will then use that Gmail server for sending mail and still use your ISP server (POP) to get your mail. You can change it back when you return home. Let me know if you need more help with this.

  • Outgoing mail unable to send "senders address invalid" how do I fix it?

I cannot send any mail from my icqmail /(aol ) accout. Every time I try to send mail it comes up 'senders address invalid'. Which I know it's not, but I can send mail trough my hotmail accout. I have my icqmail accout as default accout which is my main accout I need to be able to send emails! Help!

Hi..I am lucky, the Apple Store is right near me so I went to Genius Bar for help, we completey cleared out and reset my email accounts, AOL and .mac...basically started from scratch and let leopard set it up and then mail worked....However, then synching with my IPhone, I could not delete mail from my mail account...somehow some of the old server names were still there..so went in and deleted those.... and changed the setting save deleted mail on server to "no" and that solved it......
So my AOL in the Mail application is now working but I cannot attach in AOL..Called AOL and that seems to be a problem they are working on....

  • Mail unable to send 3 items but won't allow me to delete them

I tried to send out 3 separate photos. The emails keep trying to go out but don't make it. Mail has not put them into drafts and I can't delete them so it will stop trying to send them. So it always say "3 unsent messages" down at the bottom and constantly tries to send them out. How do I delete them???

The emails don't make it for what reason - any error message provided?
Do you have a wi-fi network at home and if so, the same when connected to your wi-fi network - the messages can't be sent?
Who is the email account provider for the account such as Yahoo, Gmail, etc.?

  • Mail won't send, Again.

I type up my email, hit send, it says done, but my email is still there. It works sometimes, then not others. I changed the port a while back, and that worked. But like I said it's hit and miss.
Is this a common problem. I always see under support "4% of members experienced difficulties with .Mac Mail for 12 hours" Is there a way to report mail problems?
I'm new to Mac mail thats why I ask.

When sending messages with your .Mac account, it doesn't make any difference to the recipients and the recipients have no way of knowing if you used the .Mac SMTP server or your ISP's SMTP server (unless a recipient looks at the long message headers for the received message and knows where and what to look for).
Are you saying no errors are reported when a message cannot be sent with your .Mac account?
Problems when using an SMTP server that is outside of the ISP's network or not provided by the ISP are usually caused by the ISP.
You don't necessarily need to access an Optimum Online email account with the Mail.app but you can add Optimum Online's SMTP server as an available SMTP server to choose from. Unless Optimum Online requires what is called POP before SMTP authentication, this should work.

  • MAIL, unable to send

in NETWORK i have a window drop down saying 'your network settings have been changed by another application" how can I resolve this ? I note that my DNS sever numbers are changed , but I cannot clear the drop down window on the NETWORK to enable me to check or alter anything.
I also note that the connection to 'PoP'account to server on port 110 has failed.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
    Cheers.

    I did BDAqua's suggestion
To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

  • I am unable to send mail from my Orange.fr account on my ipad add

Orange.fr lost personal data on Sunday, so I decided to change the password on my mail account which I did successfully can pick up and send mail via Thunderbird on my PC.  However, I had to delete my orange account from the mail application as it would let me change the password in settings.  I can now receive mail OK, but I an unable to send as I get the message that "That the username or password for "SMPT (email address)@smtp.orange.fr" is incorrect.  I have checked the server settings against those on Orange.fr website, and they are correct.   Any ideas what the problem is?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • False repeating message "unable to send e-mail"

After I attempted to send a e-mail to an address with a bad extension, I logically got the message "unable to send e-mail.  However the message will not go away.  I can send e-mail, no problem.  I have rebooted, Put in my mail settings over again, but to no avail.  Even though my e-mail is working fine ...the message "unable to send e-mail" keeps popping up.   Anyone know a solution?

    I found the answer.
email is still in the outbox of the email app. Deleted it.

Email seems to be sent, but it doesn't arrive. No 'unable to send' message, sent items and draft folders are empty. The mail disappears. I tried to fully turn off the iPad and have it restart. But it doesn't go off. I keep seeing the small white 'turning wheel' untill the battery is gone. After that, it works again (and so does the e-mail). This happens about every week. What can I do?

*there's no reason to be paranoid*
    Says Mulder .
Anyway, as I mentioned, I don't use any sync-able email, just a very plain-jane POP email provider. iSync reports no devices and has nothing in its log, which matches my never having installed anything in need of syncing.
The thing is, if Mail says its sending something when nothing was ever sent, that's a largish bug whether it is actually sending something or isn't, and there isn't really enough info here to know which of those are the case. Maybe Mail just displays "Sending" because an attempt to do something reasonable is timing out, maybe it does an innocuous and normal POP thing using very confusing nomenclature, or maybe it's really trying to send something which has a wrong flag or something. There isn't really enough info to know what is going on, so I was hoping someone could identify the symptoms.

  • "Unable to send mail" using Verizon email account

No matter what I try, my Incredible will not send an email using my Verizon email account. I receive emails but cannot send. I've verified the account settings numerous times and the verifications always work. But I still get the "Unable to send mail" message. Initially I thought it was the port but I've tried both 25 and 587. Neither work. I know I've sent messages before but it's been a while. Anyone have any ideas?

I tried SSL with 25 and 587 (Verizon recommendation). Still no go.
BTW, there isn't any way to save the Mail size limit and Download options is there. Every time I go thru this I have to go back and set these up again.
    Thanks again for your help.
