Mail updated broke Gmail message read update

Question

I had this issue in ML where I would read an Email on a mobile device and Mail would not show it as read unless I quit Mail and restart it.  Issued disappeared in initial release of Mavericks but has cropped up again with the version 1 update.  Anybody else notice this?  Am I missing a fix somewhere?
I have submitted feedback already to Apple, see below.
Initial release of Mavericks mail finally would update my read Gmails if I read them on another device, e.g. iPhone.  This was an issue that, I believe, I started to notice when I upgraded to ML.  Basically, Mail would still show the mail as unread even though I read it on another device.  Web Gmail showed it as read, other devices showed it as read, but not Mail.  Synchronizing accounts would not resolve the issue or get new mail either.  Quitting mail and restarting did update the read mails to unread.
After this most recent Mail version 1 update for Mavericks the issue has come back.  And appears to have the same issues as stated above.
Would be great if we could get this fixed.

Noted a typo but can't figure out how to edit my post.
Last line of 3rd paragraph should read "unread mails to read."  I had it right in my feedback to the factory though.
