Mail view in landscape

In the last 24 hours my iPhone 3GS has only been showing mail in landscape regardless of how I hold the phone. All other functions work correctly showing the screen in both portrait and landscape. Does anyone know how this can be reset?
Thanks

Hello,
Apple hasn't enabled that as an option (yet?)

  • Typing text in Mail disappears in landscape mode

    Hello,
I believe that I have a bug with my Mail for iOS.
When I type in Mail in the landscape orientation, part of what I type disappears.  When I tilt the phone back to portrait it returns, and disappears again when back into landscape. See image below of evidence.
Aside from restoring my phone, is there a fix for this?

    I can't reproduce that problem.
Have you tried resetting your iPhone?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Outlook E-Mail View - Task toolbar - Calendar show more days

    Hi
In Outlook 2013 you can enable the Calendar View on the right side of the Mail View:
Here you can see the calendar and the (cut off) text (on top of People panel) "You have nothing else scheduled today". This calendar panel shows only appointments for today.
If I have an appointment tomorrow, the panel doesn't show it. In Outlook 2007 I could see all appointments in near future.
Is there a possibility to show more appointments from the future in this view, not only from today?
    Thanks

You can't confirm anything, just like the rest of the Microsoft goons.  Shut up if you don't know what you are talking about.  Half of Microsoft's problem is that very few of you have any clue.
If you want to preview the calendar on the as you did in 2003+, simply right click on the "Calendar" button at the bottom of Outlook while in the mail view and choose "Dock in Peek".  This will pop the calendar up on the right,
in the mail view.  If you want to see flagged items, go to "View" and toggle the "To-Do" bar.
Good job Tony.  Thanks for sorting it all out for us.  smdh
No, I can confirm this is by design in current version of Outlook 2013 RTM. You may go to another thread with the same topic for reference.
    Thanks.

  • Cursor movement in the mail view pane

    Hi all,
Is there a way to configure/change the default movement (upward) of the cursor in the mail view pane?
when deleting an item (email) it moves to the upper one and this is particularly annoying
    Thanks,

If apple is listening, this is a foolish default setting... at least there should be an option... APPLE? Hope you got it right for Leopard.

  • Mail Viewing Options Gone.  I need to DISABLE automatically marking a message as read!

In Lion, the Mail Viewing options to disable automatically marking a viewed message as read are gone!  I absolutely NEED to disable automatically marking a viewed message as read!  How can I disable this if the option isn't present?  Is there a workaround?

Ok...I take part of what I said back. It was MailActOn by InDev which allowed me to not automatically have a message marked as read.  See http://indev.ca/MailActOn.html for more info.
Apparently the version I had loaded wasn't compatible with Lion Mail.app.  Since updating it, I know have this feature again.

  • CHANGING BACKGROUND COLORS ON MAIL VIEW WINDOW?

The light blue area on the left of the mail view window seems to not have enough contrast to clearly read the number of emails sitting in a particular mailbox. Is there any way to customize the background color to make this more readable?

Bruce, do you see the darker blue background to increase the contrast with the number, or just the white number on the light blue background?

  • Missing Mail view??

I upgraded to Yosemite.  After lots of problems got it done.  Mail works fine.  But yesterday I moved my mail folder and plist from a back up and now I am missing my mail view window.   I have the mail window.  The column with the mail boxes is fine.   Column with the emails showing short previews is fine.
But the next column, where a full message would show up if I selected a message, is blank?
If I double click on a message I get a separate window with the full message.   But what happened to the view column?

  • IPhone Mail View

    Hello Everybody,
I have a problem with the mail view on my new iPhone 4 with the latest IOS.
When I start the mail programm on my old deviece an iPhone 3G with IOS 3.13 it shows me in the first view only all of my accounts.
My new iPhone 4 shows me in the first view all Inboxes and at the bottom of the view it shows me all of my accounts.
But I do not like this. I like only to see my accounts and not all Inboxes.
Is there a possibility to hide all Inboxes in the first view so that I only see all of my accounts.
    Thanks for helping me.
    Greetings from Germany.

    That is right !

It does not show all Inboxes.

  • Customizing mail viewer

    Hi,
relative came back from the apple store in tampa with a new macbook, says that they configured his Email for him while he was there and that they set up MacMail so that the mail viewing window was placed on the right side of the mail screen instead of underneath the list of retrieved Emails, when he updated the OS the macmail had reverted to the what I assume is the default configuration with the the viewer below the mail list, I ran repair permissions but I can't find a control pane to manipulate the viewer screen, any ideas?
    scotty

Is it possible that what was described was just lowering the bar below the message list to the bottom, so that the 'mail viewing window' becomes a separate (unattached) one when a message is selected for viewing?

  • Mail Viewer window does not behave according to Apple User Guidelines

I offer this up hoping that an Apple Mail engineer will see it.
Why, oh why can we not click on an open, visible Mail Viewer window in the background and bring it up to the frontmost application unless that click happens in the Mail Viewer Toolbar???
No other application misbehaves this way.
Long overdue for a fix, imo.

this does not need a fix as it doesn't behave like that (on my Mac).
Any part of that window that sticks out behind the top view application is enough to bring that window forward.

  • Mail Viewing pane requires much horizontal scrolling

I just upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion. Only a few problems but, they are major!
For instance, why is my read/sent mail viewing pane so wide? I have to scroll maybe 4 x the width of my entire screen to get to the end of every sentence.
Using Classic Layout because I can't get the New Layout to work efficiently for my purposes.
Is there some way I can change this?
    Thanks!

I am going to answer as if your answer was not sarcastic!
Well, you asked the wrong question. The Viewing pane isn't too wide, the text is not wrapping as it should.
That happens with the occasional malformed email, but shouldn't happen with all.
You might search here for Mail Word Wrap. This was the closest I found: How to configure OSX Mavericks 10.9 Mail to Text Wrap / Word Wrap

  • TS3899 IPad Air, Mail, I want incoming e-mails to be displayed as previews that I must click to open. I do not want the already opened e-mail view on the left of my mailboxes. Lu

I know how to delete an e-mail. That is not my question. On my Mac and iphone my email view is of preview of e-mails that I then click to open If I want to read them. I want the same mail view on my I-pad. So that I can delete possible spam mail without opening the e-mail. How do I change the view settings for my mail on my I-pad?

Sorry, you can't. The default mail app always has a mail open. The only way around it is to always have an older mail selected so that it's open, not the newer ones.
or look for another app. I'm afraid that I have no recommendation to make.

  • "Reply" Mouseover Shortcut Button in Mail Viewer Fails!

The "reply" shortcut button that appears in the right-side e-mail viewer "always' fails to send. I mean it appears to send but there is never any proof in my sent folder and I have only just realized this after realizing that many people have not received emails from me.
The fix is to use the Mail's Menu Bar then "Reply" - this will send out properly and also show the threaded reply message. This works across the board-whether an iCloud e-mail, Google, work, etc.
    Is this a bug?
This was an embarrassing find as I use Mac Mail at work and now I have to go back and confirm just how many emails were never sent from me.
Apple - this needs to be immediately fixed. As the lone Apple user at work, now I get to fight off jabs from my peers that Apple can't even make a Mail application that works.
If there is a fix, I'm not sure what it would be as I have a brand new MBP w Retina and the latest ML release and updates.

    Hi truesilver,
Wow, never tried that one. I just tried it now - replied to an email and sent it to myself, and then replied to myself (so I didn't have to change the "To"). It sent it out right away (I heard the outgoing Mail swoosh), showed up in my Inbox on all my devices and computer, and also in my Sent Items.
Not sure if it somehow is different if you are replying to someone other than yourself. Does this seem to be an intermittent kind of thing?
If so, then I think the only thing you can do is to make sure you hear the outgoing mail swoosh, and if you don't, see if you can troubleshoot the problem at the time it occurs. Seems kind of weird....
    Cheers,

  • Has Apple come up with a solution to remove the iPad sidebar in Mail while in landscape mode?

    Hi, Everyone.
When I review open Mail, I need to review it in landscape mode, so I can use the ipad cover's keyboard to type my replies. I would like to be able to hide (or even shrink) the sidebar. Unlike the "relative" privacy of viewing your email at your desk, the ipad is meant to be a mobile device: I use it on the train, I take it to meetings, etc.  It's annoying to have people looking over my shoulder or sitting next to me in a conference table able to glance over and, in effect, see the names of the last 11 people or entities that have emailed me  - with the subjects. (I work in HR, handling a lot of staff and faculty compensation, discipline, ando other politically charged issues - so privacy is kind of a big deal)  Yes, I could flip it to portrait mode and hide the sidebar, but that forces me to tilt my cover's bluetooth keyboard 90 degrees to the side and I am not yet proficient in typing sideways.
I've seen mutiple posts over the past year about this.  I'm using IOS 8.1.3.  Has Apple resolved this or offered a suitable accommodation?
    Thank you for any replies.

TThe answer is simple. No Apple has not implemented a way to hide the preview pane of the mail app when you use the device in landscape mode. I use my iPad in landscape mode 95% of the time as well, so that I can use the larger keys on the virtual keyboard. You can hide the preview of what the emails say I Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Preview>None. If you do that, at least you will be hiding the beginning of the message so that nobody can read it. I realize that's not your solution, but it might help.
I also suggest that you leave feedback for Apple.
