HI, on my iphone 4 all warks for my 2 emails settings but on my ipad 2 one of my to emails wants to download 9000 emails from the server! how can I stop it

it sounds like your mail is a PoP server.
This happens because your mail has a copy on the mail server. If you are worried about downloading so many you may have to go to your mail website and cleanup there.
For future cleanup I would suggest forwarding your mail to a iMAP server (gmail etc...) and just reading it from there. That way if you delete it on one device it deletes on all devices and keeps your mail clean and only what you want to see

Suddenly Mail wants to download every single email, read and unread, from my Yahoo account inbox. Can anyone tell me why that might be? I like to keep email for a long time in that box as a backup, so I'd rather not have to check Remove Copy From Server. I don't think there's anything on Yahoo's end that would cause this. How do I prevent Mail from downloading read email from a server?

Is the Yahoo account set up as a POP3 account for accessing mail? If you really want to have mail stored on the server after you've logged on to that mail server you need to use IMAP. I don't know whether Yahoo offers IMAP, but POP3 was never designed for some of the uses that people try to put it to. IMAP was.

Mail is downloading 9000 old messages from March

Restarting and opening Mail this morning, strangely, Mail is downloading about 9000 (yes, nine thousand) old messages from last March. WHY?
I tried clicking on the X to cancel it, thinking it might just be a glitch, but then it started back up again.
Can you explain what's going on?

I have three accounts. I didn't know the answer to your first question, but looking in my Accounts under Preferences I see IMAP under the Gmail account and POP under the two comcast accounts.
It's too late to see whether it will still do it. They all finished downloading within a half hour or so of posting my question this morning.
Now Mail is working normally, I've just been going through and re-deleting thousands of old emails. Quite annoying.

BB suddenly downloaded 200 old emails from OWA

Hi,
I just recently got a Blackberry Storm, with Verizon Wireless. I sync my work email through Outlook Web Access, which has been working fine for the first few days. Then all of the sudden yesterday my blackberry starting going crazy and dowloaded about 200 emails all at once. They were all older then the current emails I have - in fact it looks like they were from before I got my blackberry.
How do I stop this from happening? And how should I get rid of them all?
My Email Reconciliation settings for the account are:
Wireless Reconcile: On
On Conflicts: Mailbox Wins

your using web mail via BIs configuration.
1.kindly chk it 's your old mail is in your current mail inbox.
see the bb pushes only the new mail after the configuration.
2.kindly check you recently sync your old BB backup to restore in HH and revet any clarification

Moving old emails from older iMac-please help!

I had emails on my old imac that I transferred to my new imac because the emails were deleted from my service provider. I found the emails (they were .emlx) files on my old computer and just transferred them into my new (same folders).
I thought they would show up in my new mail account but they don't. Can anyone advise on how I can have them come up? THANKS!

Hello and welcome to the Discussions.
Please describe exactly how you "transferred" them. If this was done in the Finder, and not with Import in the Mail program, then a reindexing may be required for Mail to see these messages.
Also, when you say "same folders", which folders do you mean? Were they On My Mac folders, or were the INBOX.mbox and Sent Messages.mbox folders from the account folder?

HttpService with JSON from server - help please

Hi!
I am trying to pass back a JSON object to flex using
HttpService. The scenario is like this - using HttpService I am
calling an action since i am using Struts 2.0 . This action is
supposed to return a string in JSON format. When i am passing back
the data in XML format the data is properly displayed with the
required hierarchail structure. But when I am passing back the JSON
string it is not displaying anything.
This is the call to server

Don't want to download email from server. How?

Just upgrade from my Droid1 to a new Droid RAZR.
On my Droid1, when I checked my eemail, the messages were not downloaded to the phone. They remained on the server. Then, when I checked email from my PC, any messages that were in my Droid's inbox would automatically be removed (as they were downloaded to my PC). If I deleted a mail message from my Droid's inbox, the message would still be downloaded to my PC when I checked its email.
I want to configure the email on my new RAZR the same way, but I'm having problems. After downloading the email to my PC, the messages remain in my RAZR's inbox. I have to manually delete them What am I doing wrong?
My RAZR's email configuration is:
Incoming server
POP mail server
Server, username, and password (all are correct)
Port: 110
My old Droid1 had a "Delete email from server: When I delete from Inbox" setting.
Outgoing server
SMTP server
Server, username, and password
Port: 26
Authentication: LOGIN
My old Droid1 had a "Require sign-in" setting
Other settings
Never delete messages
Remove manually deleted emails from the server (enabled)
My old Droid1 did not have this "Other settings" section.

i agree up to #5.
if i get a pop3 email on the phone & don't delete it but look at the same email on my pc, deleting the email on the pc does not delete it from the phone inbox & must be deleted manually.
as i don't leave a copy of the email on the server using outlook express on the home pc, if i get email on the pc 1st, it won't go to the phone.
i don't delete from the server on the phone, so if i delete the email in the phone inbox, it still goes to the pc.
oh, btw, i do a manual fetch on the phone.
gmail does what you ask, email in the inbox is deleted when deleted from the gmail account on a pc.

Another option is to create a smart mailbox that includes emails with date received before a desired date.
Then, select one message in the Smart Mailbox and cmd-A to select all. Then delete.

Now I want to retrieve some old emails and move them to my new account, but can't seem to make it happen. F/fox opens under old a/c, but can't access 'net so I can't forward them. He will run into a problem when he wants to use his own account. Some apps will have been purchased on one Apple ID and other apps will have been purchased on a different Apple ID. That's a nuisance situation when the apps need updating and, unfortunately, there is no resolution at the present time (IDs can not be combined).

How to restore old emails from Outlook to Mac Mail?

I have recently configured my email account (server type POP3) on Mail. It has retrieved my emails from last few weeks. However the older emails are missing. I was using Outlook and Mozilla thunderbird as email clients on Windows computer. I do have a backup of the data from windows computer on external hard drive. Can someone explain my how to I restore those old emails to the newly configued mac Mail account?

I had about 7500 emails, and they converted OK...took awhile because each one has to be converted, but it finished fine.
Although you can export from multiple Outlook folders, Mac Mail doesn't have a very slick importer for multiple mailboxes. So, you'll need to export the mailboxes from Outlook (which will create 25 different files, each full of email), and then import each of those into Mail. In my case, Mail created a separate folder for each exported file, but the folders all descended from the root folder (not nested), so I had to create my own nesting. This is more a limitation of the mbox standard that Apple uses than it is a limitation of Mac Mail itself, from what I read.

Winston - thank you for your reps but that is common sense... Icloud only displays 50 emails at a time. So your recommendation doesn't work if you have 330,000 emails in your inbox. I am looking for a way to do a mass move.. Like a filter or rule that runs in the inbox. Current rules can only work as emails arrive.
Any other thoughts?

You might be able to trick iMovie by temporarily moving that project folder out of the following location:
Mac HD > Users > (your home folder) > Movies > iMovie Projects > (look for the name of the project that blew-up)
Drag that project folder to the Desktop for the time being. Launch iMovie and see if it still tries to create the Project Thumbnails. If it gets past any error messages or other house keeping, you can create a new project. Otherwise, quit iMovie. Drag that project folder from the desktop BACK into your iMovie Projects folder. Try launching iMovie again and see if it gets stuck generating the Thumbnails.
