Mail will no longer recognize a previously recognized email address

Hi, I use Mail for my corporate email. It has been flawless up until I took the OSX update on Saturday. I did not lose my Inbox, but I lost the email address recognition when I create a new email.
When I type a "known" address into the "To" box, Mail will not recognize any of it's previously known addresses.
On top of that I have noticed an issue w/Calendar. I was not allowed to edit any of my Meetings on the calendar. It would not recognize me as the initiator or host.
Please help!!! I rely so much on these tools, I am lost w/o them.
Thanks,
Dave

  • Mail will not allow me to edit an email address

I have an e-mail address that shows up with the wrong last name.
I right-click, delete the incorrect last name. But as soon as I change to a different field it puts the wrong last name back in.
    Why won't my changes stick?

I've tried changing first, last, and only one name and they all work despite having it in the address book. It doesn't change the contact in address book nor does it add to the previous recipient folder when using a name in the list.
Seems you would have a corrupt file. Question is which one.
Try the autocomplete file first: Quit Mail and move this file to desktop and restart. If it doesn't work, you can put it back.

  • MacBook Pro will no longer recognize new SSD via USB

I just received a brand-new 512 GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD from Newegg this morning.
    I own a 15-inch MacBook Pro (Mid-2012) with 16 GB of RAM and a 2.3 GHz Core i7 running Mavericks (10.9.1).
Earlier today, I plugged in the SSD via a third-party USB-to-SATA adapter that I also purchased from Newegg at about the same time. The machine recognized the new drive, and I opened up Disk Utility to format the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Once that finished, I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my existing HDD to the SSD. Before it began, the program asked me to create the Recovery HD, so I enabled that option. The rest of the process proceeded smoothly. I quit CCC, ejected the drive, and put it away for the rest of the workday.
When I arrived home tonight, I plugged the SSD back into the Mac in hopes of test-booting it externally. Unfortunately, the machine will no longer recognize that anything is plugged into the Mac. I find it highly unlikely that the USB adapter could be malfunctioning; I unboxed it this morning and it's been mere hours since the successful clone attempt. I also find it hard to believe that the SSD could be broken, either.
I tried to disable rEFIt and manually invoke the boot selection screen, but even when that happens, the drive fails to mount. For the same reason, I can't erase the drive to start over, either. I've tried both USB ports, as well as rebooting with the SSD connected and unconnected.
My research tells me that people often have problems trying to get SSDs to boot when they've been installed in the drive bay, but nothing I've seen suggests anyone's had a problem booting from the external SSD after a successful clone attempt. What am I missing?

I'd start by resetting the SMC. Follow the method for "a battery you should not remove yourself."

I have no experience with Samsung SSD's, but I've read a number of posts here of people having problems with some of them. That could be a possibility.
The other thing you could try at this point is to swap the drives. If it's cloned already and the drive is good, it should boot. That would indicate the enclosure failed after the copy.

  • HP Photosmart 8250 will no longer recognize photos downloaded from Facebook. Any ideas?

I used to download and print photos from Facebook, but the HP Photosmart 8250 will no longer recognize these files on the SD card.  I believe Facebook recently updated it's photo format (incidentally, older images on Facebook still work fine).  Any ideas?
I'm running Windows XP, and have not changed anything on my setup.

The troubleshooting steps in this document may help resolve the issue of black not printing.  If not see the post here.

  • My Mail Will No Longer Send Out! I Have A Picture Of The Message I Get...

For some reason, the last couple of days my mail will no longer send out.
The e-mails that I want to send just sit in my outbox.
I don't know what to do...
Here is a picture of the message that I keep getting:
Hopefully someone will know what to do because I need to be able to send e-mails!!!
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Jane,
From what venues are you experiencing this failure -- home or cafes? In a few cases, the ISP will simply NOT allow the use of SMTPs other than the one they provide. In those cases you have no choice but to use the SMTP provided by your ISP as the Outgoing Server, even in your .mac account.
With that background, please review your problem and what you have tried. I tried to review your other posts, but I think you need to provide me a summary, as I have to run now.

with the new iOS 7, in Mail I no longer see the count of emails, is there a way to make that appear?

I stopped at the local Apple Store. Three salespeople heard my question and they agreed that the email count is not accesssible in iOS 7. Furthermore, it is not possible to control the number of messages held on the Apple device. It was possible in iOS 6, as one of the salespeople demonstrated. Since that is the case, what is the number of emails stored in iOS 7? If it varies, what determines the number that are stored? I do not want to set up an email account with 7000 to 8000 existing emails and wonder what will happen.

Where does Mail keep its hidden cache of auto-complete email addresses.  I am plagued with an incorrect email address I can't get rid of.  Have made sure it's deleted from Contacts and made sure it's deleted from "Previous Recipients" list in Mail.  But it still keeps reappearing ... obviously a secret cache file hidden somewhere?

Autocomplete has nothing to do with this problem.
From the Mail menu bar, select
              Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Look for a disused SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat.

  • Adding Mail's 'previous recipients' email addresses to Address Book

I dumped all of the 'previous recipients' email addresses to Address Book today, but when I looked in Address Book they were all poorly organized, and there were many I did not want in there, so in order to save time (I thought) I deleted them, with the intent to go back to Mail and only add the ones I wanted, and in small batches so I could organize them better when I went back to Address Book. However, when I went back to the Mail application to re-add only the ones I wanted, I saw that the 'Add to Address Book' button is whited out. It appears that since I already added them to the Address Book, even though I subsequently delted them, Mail still thinks that they have entries in the Address Book. There appears to be no way to re-set them. I have looked all over through all of the help information for both Address Book and Mail and have found no way to overcome this problem. Any insights would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Brendan

Try Mail Scripts. I think the Add Addresses script will do what you want.

    Hello, quckvic.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You will need to reset your Apple ID password via the steps in the first article below.  Take a look at the option that refers to answering the security questions.  Since you do not have access to the email account and if you are unable to answer the security questions, see the second article.

  • De-authorizing previous ID email address

I got a new tablet and needed to authrise it for downloading my (previously purchased) ebooks. The adobe site informed me that my password needs to be reset due to security reasons and that a mail would be sent to my registered e-mail address to guide me further. This is  problematic as I no longer have acess to this email address. I then created a new ID (removed) but only realised afterwards that it would not allow me acess to books bought under my previous ID. How do I de-authorise the old address without access to the e-mail address? Please note I use a tablet and not an e-reader hence no ADE. Thanks

Adobe can be extremely unhelpful, especially if they think they are dealing with Digital Editions as they see it as a 'free' product.
In your case, the problem is about more than Digital Editions as the AdobeID is used for all Adobe interactions.
The live chat must be stupid as well as unhelpful if they think anyone on the forum can help with this kind of problem
If we could, their security would be even worse than it is ~~
and if it hadn't been bad they wouldn't have had their security breach a couple of months ago; which is why they need you to change the password.
So, some more helpful suggestions rather than rant ...
Try the Adobe ticket system and see if they are more helpful.  BUT the website is so bad I can find where to submit a ticket.
Try calling on the telephone, but I can't find the support telephone number either (and they'll probably never answer)
http://www.adobe.com/uk/elicensing/licensemanagement/alm/contact.html might help, but it will probebly be the wrong sort of help.
Try calling the Creative Cloud sales team and pretend you want to buy
You'll have to look up their number for your country, but (suprise suprise) it seems easier to get sales numbers then help numbers.
If they need an Adobe ID before you can buy, you may be able to trick them into helping sort out your ID
Try going into the Live Chat, but choose some other product, and when you get to them tell them about the password/lost ID issue.
    Submit a Security Incident https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=securityform
(This is a security incident as Adobe's security or lack of it has caused you to lose access to your account)
    Page http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership/index.cfm?form=adobeid&loc=en_us&nl=1&nf=1 may help.
It may just lead back to their sending an email to the address you can't use any more, though.
There are various options on page http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/account-password-sign-faq.html#chat that could help.
It looks as if the 'Contact Us' might get you an agent via a different route who may be less unhelpful/cluless.
    Good luck.

Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your account'. You will be able to change the non-Apple email address you use as a login. You will then need to log out and in again on all your devices.

Contact Apple, either through the link in that article or by phoning them. Alternatively, just create a new Apple ID; previous iTunes Store purchases won't be transferred to it.

I can't remove previous owners email address from App Store so can't use - advice please!!

Settings/iTunes & App Stores. Tap the Apple ID. Tap Sign out. Then sign in with your Apple ID. However, if the phone still has Find my iPhone enabled with the previous owner's Apple ID then the phone will be useless to you until you get the previous owner to release Activation Lock on the phone.

I have not been able to sync my mail with iCloud on my MacBookPro (Lion OS).  Everything else has been syncing fine for the past two months, but when I go to System Pref/iCloud/and try to check Mail, it asks me to choose an iCloud email address. When I put in my regular @me.com email, it says that address already exists (of course it does - it's mine!) and wants me to choose another one.  But I want it to sync with my stuff.  What can I do?  I haven't been able to find help anywhere online...  Thanks!

You should have signed in with that address in the first place, but there is a workaround: go to System preferences>Mail, Contacts@ Calendars and add your @me.com address as an account there.

  • Why can't I use my previous MobileMe email address instead of creating a new one?

Why can't I use my previous MobileMe email address instead of creating a new one?  When signing up for iCloud I'm asked to choose an email address [email protected]  I am already using an @me address via moblileme.  When i input that address it states that that address is already taken.  Try picking a new one.  I don't want a new one I want to use my mobileme address.  How can that be done?

It appears you set up a new iCloud account rather than migrating your MobileMe account over to iCloud.  I migrated everything over this morning and am still using my old MobileMe email address.
Check to see if you can migrate rather than open a new account.
