Mail will not launch after upgrade to Leopard

I just installed the Leopard OS. My previous OS had been Tiger 10.4.10 and had been recently updated. Now, the Mail program will not launch. When I click the Mail icon, the little blue ball under the icon flashes a few times, then stops. A window opens to say that Mail has unexpectedly quit and asks if I want to send a report to Apple. I sent the report, but this of course does not help me to access my e-mail. Any ideas?

Exact same problem, resolved thus just now:
Finder, Search for Mail.app. Open the version 3.0 (Quick Look from Finder/File will help here...) and you'll be prompted to upgrade your mail stuff; from there, you're happy.
My guess is that the Sidebar didn't upgrade correctly. Mine evidently still references v2.1 of Mail.
On to that problem next...

  • Mail will not open after upgrade to Leopard

We just tried to upgraded my wife's 20 inch iMac to Leopard. the computer had been running Tiger from the day we purchased it from Apple. She is unable to open her Mail program all the way. The only window that opens is the "send" window from the pull down window and she cannot send and to close the Mail program we must force quit. While I am at it I have am unable to use my "f" numbers with my new iMac 24. Any thought there? I havet the full key board not the small keyboard with the fn key.

  • ITunes will not launch after upgrade--click, bounce bounce, nada

iTunes will not launch after upgrade--rebooted nothing--2 bounce icon
then shut down all and unplugged, restarted--no change, iTunes still will not launch after upgrade
    iTunes current version
    on imac w/10.6.8

    I have the same issue.
Allready uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, but the same problem occurs.
Icon keeps bouncing, and all that's visible is the first menu-item in the top menu bar, named iTunes. Nothing is clickable though.
The iPhone Configuration Utility doesn't seem to work either, it crashes on uploading an app to my iPhone. I guess it's using some of iTunes' libs or something.
Does anyone know how to get iTunes working again? I'm getting pretty desperate over here...
    Thanks!

Lync mobile app will not launch after upgrade to lollipop on HTC One (M8). Is this a known issue or is a fix available?

    Hi THGutz,
Did you install the latest version of Lync for Android ?
The current version of Lync for Android is
    5.5.3.8935.
I don’t test it on M8, but on other Android 5.0 devices it works fine.

upgraded imac to yosemite, now mail will not open

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch Mail. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Gmail POP will not work after upgrade to Leopard (Mail 3.5)

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to Leopard and was previoulsy using Gmail for my POP service, whuch worked fine.
I was a little disappointed that the upgrade disabled by HTTP app that allowed me to access my Hotmail, but no big.
The big deal here is tht I have tried everything listed on Gmail's troubleshooting page for POP accounts and I can't get Mail to connect to the smtp nor pop server. I tried deleting recreting the account, verified settings with what's listed, opening the firewall, testing the telnet connection (nothiing happened, so I guess that's good?).
I sent this issue to Gmail but all I got back was a redirect to the Troubleshooting page and an .exe tool that I can't use.
Anyone else out there that may have this problem or have a clue as to what I could be missing?
I was also loged in to Gmail while setting up account so I know I can access the mail outside of POP.
    Thanks for reading!!!

After spending a couple of hours researching this the solution that worked perfectly for me was to delete all plist files.
    1. Start with Finder/Macintosh HD/Mail/ look for the plist file there and delete it.
    2. Go back to Finder, ctrl click and select Go to Folder
    3. paste this: ~/Library/Mail/
    4. Find all plist files and delete.
If you feel more comfortable, you may save them someplace as a backup.
After deleting all plist files related to Mail, restart your PC. If you don't it may not work.
Either prior to doing this or after, be sure your settings are correct for gmail.
Once I did this, all of my incoming and outgoing messages loaded properly and everything worked perfectly.
If you need additional assistance feel free to leave a message.

  • Itunes will not launch after upgrade or reinstall

I was on itunes and the message popped up asking if i would like to upgrade and install a new version of itunes. I clicked okay. After this was done, I have been unable to launch itunes to update my ipod. I have tried to uninstall both itunes & Quicktime and then re-install both. I have also tried to clear out the temp files, however, I get the following error message...
Cannot delete hpodvd09.log; It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using this file and try again.
Can anyone help me? I am fairly new to itunes. Thank you in advance.

Goto control panel>add and remove in windows and
uninstall itunes AND quicktime. Then go here and roll
down to the section "Clean up iTunes installer files
    on the computer"
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Now disable your antivirus and security programs,
then goto apple.com and download AND SAVE itunes to
    your PC.
Once done goto the location you saved it and double
    click it to install.
If it still will not open, scan your system with

  • ArtRage demo will not launch after upgrade to OS10.9.5.

Gives crashed thread 11, problem with fonts.  I cleaned up the Font Book which had a few duplicates.  Cleared the Font Cache.  In safemode ArtRage demo will still not launch.  Worked fine before the 10.9.5 upgrade.  Is this a known problem with 10.9.5? How do I identify if a particular font is causing this issue?  Other apps seem to be running fine.  Anyone else have this issue?

The problem only seems to be with stub applications used to start Java applications wrapped in a Mac OS X application package. All Java applications I have tried starting from the command line and using Java Web Start have launched and run without trouble. For example, the SmartCVS application package includes a stub application launcher in:
    /Applications/SmartCVS/SmartCVS.app/Contents/MacOS
This application stub is named JavaApplicationStub, the command name reported in the previously posted crash log excerpt. It is this application that fails. However, I am able to successfully launch and run the SmartCVS application with the following command line:
    ( cd /Applications/SmartCVS/SmartCVS.app/Contents/Resources/Java ; java -cp help.jar:tools.jar -jar smartcvs.jar )
Note: This is more conveniently done from a shell script containing the following:
    #!/bin/sh
    cd /Applications/SmartCVS/SmartCVS.app/Contents/Resources/Java
    java -cp help.jar:tools.jar -jar smartcvs.jar 2>&1 >> /dev/console &
The line beginning with "#" must be the first line in the script file beginning at the first character of the file.
Again, the problem is not restricted to SmartCVS. It also occurs with an in-house application with a stub generated by InstallAnywhere 5.5 Now. While the "Now" version is no longer available, the rest of the InstallAnywhere product line is now available from:
    http://www.macrovision.com/products/flexnet_installshield/installanywhere/index. shtml

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch after upgrade to 10.6

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and found that Adobe Photoshop CS4 crashes every time during launch, moments after the splash screen disappears. I ran the Adobe Updater to see if there was a patch for this, but no go. I've already upgraded to 10.6.1 to no avail.
Photoshop is my livelihood and I'd sure appreciate some help getting this fixed before it starts to cost me! Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    -i-

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:
"There is a conflict with the _______ font file. This font file contains a font name that conflicts with a system font required by Mac OS X to display onscreen text. You should move this font file to the Trash."
The fonts it said were conflicting: Helvetica, HelveticaNeue.dfont, Lucida Grande, and Monaco. I figured Snow Leopard probably wanted to replace these fonts with newer versions, and so I clicked "Move to Trash" on all four.
Apparently 10.6 trashed these fonts but didn't replace them. This was causing Photoshop to crash on load.
So I restored my ~/Library/Fonts folder from a backup made just before upgrading and this time after a reboot I said "Allow Conflict" on all four dialog boxes and launched Photoshop... everything is back to normal!
Not sure what kind of "conflict" it's referring to, but apparently moving these font files to the trash as OS X prompted me to do broke a number of apps. Should I report this as a bug?
    Thanks for the ideas!

  • Jar will not launch after upgrading a project to Netbeans 6.5

    Hi,
I created a project in NetBeans about 2 years ago, then I upgraded the project to NetBeans 6.5 just now. The .jar file that is created when I build the project gives me the error:
    C:\>java -jar Checkers.jar
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
    at sun.launcher.LauncherHelper.getMainClassFromJar(Unknown Source)
    at sun.launcher.LauncherHelper.checkAndLoadMain(Unknown Source)
If I create a new project in NetBeans, the jar file it creates will work correctly. It seems to be something related to the upgrade or maybe the state of the original project (I didn't try the .jar file when I was running with the old version of NetBeans.)
Anyway, I need to know how to make the fix from within NetBeans. I look at the project properties and there is an entry point defined. It runs fine from within NetBeans. I don't know what changes to make in the project config to fix this.
    Thanks,
    Bill N.

  • Itunes will not launch after upgrading to 11.1.5 with my 10.6.8 mac book pro

as soon as I upgraded to the new itunes, when clicking on the icon in the dock I noticed the icon bounced up and down once but itunes never opened up. Tried it latter in the day and it still would not open. My operating system is 10.6.8and I have the current apple updates installed up to this date today. the funny thing is I waited on the itunes update, and then decided to go ahaead and upgrade and soon as I did, well you know what happened. If I could ask a second question, what if I just went back to the original software version when I bought this computer, would I have less problems. I tried this earlier because of problems with flash and my nikon software needed the apple upgrades to work (they no longer make the older version). BUt when I worked it on the original software everything worked great (no nikon) but I could not see the videos on youtube, and other internet content on various sites. So my question is, if I decide to cut and run back to my old home, how could I solve the the flash problem or could I just get an earlier version of flash? My mac book pro I beleive came with 10.6.4, or what ever they had about three years ago around November. But this itunes thing is really bothering me and if I can fix this then I will avoid any further iupgrades even if someone puts a gun to my head. Just kidding. Thank you again for your help

My MBP (15", early 2009 model, 8GB RAM, 1TB internal drive) showed in Software Update as not needing any other updates, and I downloaded from Apple's site directly and installed iTunes 11.1.5 rather than doing it via Software Update (I've had some glitches with the 'direct' install from SU in the past, so I manually download updates from Apple's support website instead).
Hoping Apple will figure out what's wrong with this version under 10.6.8...

  • AppWorld will not launch after upgrade but appears to be runing constantly.

I upgraded Blackerry AppWorld and since cannot open it. The icon is there. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I've taken battery out and rebooted - none of which have helped. Can't find an answer to this problem here.

    Hey Twiglets,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
To better assist you with this issue with BlackBerry® App World, what is the full error message you receive when attempting to open BlackBerry® App World? Or does BlackBerry® App World not respond when selecting the icon?
    Thanks.

  • Yahoo mail will not work after upgrading to Firefox 26, WHY?

I can see my email, but I can't open it, delete it, or go to any other folders. I have reinstalled Firefox 3 times, restarted my computer every time, logged out and back into Yahoo. Nothing changes. Why does Firefox continually screw something up every time it upgrades? I just want the previous version back without losing all my saved passwords and bookmarks!
    WIN XP SP3

As you've probably noticed, Yahoo! has been making a lot of email changes lately. Users who are using an older bookmark to access Yahoo! mail have reported various glitches. Try accessing your mail using one of these:
    * Yahoo home page: https://www.yahoo.com/
    * My Yahoo page: https://my.yahoo.com/
    * Generic mail redirect: https://mail.yahoo.com/
Make sure to bookmark the new address if it works.
More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site that previously worked fine, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Safari will not launch after upgrade

I am currently running on a Mac OS X 10.3.9 and I was told to upload from safari version 1.2 to safari 3.3 which was a big mistake.
My Safari icon will only bounce up and down and will no longer open, as well as my Microsoft Messenger. Thank you for your suggestions,

hmm I actually do not have the panther DVD, so where would I go from there?
I tried deleting the Safari application altogether then downloading the older version again but it did not work.
