Mail window pane vanished - how to bring back?

In Mail,
When in the Inbox, there is usually a small list of emails (sent to me that perhaps i haven't read) at the top and if I click any of them I get the preview or email in text at bottom of screen below it (divided by a line).
My wife was reading emails and scrolling down on the right, and somehow Mail quickly set itself to only have the emails (sent to me) only appear and now i have to double click any single email to see the email (which pops up in a new window).
In other words, I believe the technical way to explain it is that the window pain on the bottom is no longer there. How do I bring it back to the way it use to act - do I need to selecting something from the "view" menu at the top?

Hello,
There is a spot in the middle of the bar at the bottom of the Mail window that is used to hide or reveal, or dragged to resize the message preview pane. Depending on your display resolution, you can see that this spot is actually multiple lines.
Although not fully applicable to Mail 2.x and OSX 10.4, the following support document does provide a picture of this spot on the separator bar (which now you have at the bottom):

This same out-of-date article is found as a link in the current Mail Help if you search with Preview Pane.

  • How to bring back project to iMovie project window?

I created a project and want to edit more later days. Meanwhile I moved the project file to another hard drive to make more space on the original hard drive.
When I open iMovoe the title of file is showing, but no content. How can I bring the project back to iMovie project window?

First, move the Project back to the Movies/iMovie Projects folder on your Mac. In other words, move it back where it was to begin with.
You should now see it in iMovie and be able to edit it, unless the Event folders were moved as well. If they were moved, move them back to Movies/iMovie Events.
Now, you can move them back to the external drive and have them still work, but you need to do this from within iMovie.
Your external drive must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled). FAT 32 or NTFS drives will not work.
In iMovie, click VIEW/EVENTS BY DISK. Your external drive should show up in the Project Library and in the Event Library in iMovie.
To move the Project back to the external drive, hold down the Command key while dragging the icon for the project to the icon for the external drive in the Project Library.
If you want to move the Events as well, you can right click on the Project (which is now on the external drive and select Consolidate Media...

  • How to bring back the black dot on the red close button for edited/unsaved files?

I've ticked the box for "Ask to keep changes when closing documents" System Preferences / General. I'm operating within Mac OS 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion).
When I make changes to an open file in most every program, a black dot appears on the red close button in the top-left corner of the file's window. This convention goes back a decade to early Mac OS X, as I recall.
However, I don't see this behavior in a few applications lately, such as Xcode 4.6.3 or QuickTime Player 10.2.
Anyone know how to bring this functionality back?
    Thank you.

    Nobody knows? Not even administrators?
Please it would be really nice to have help on that to take all the benefit of the remote app.
Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi,
The windowing info should be held in com.apple.ichat.plist
In the Finder > Go Menu hold down the ALT key and select the Library that appears.
    Navigate to the Preferences folder
Find com.apple.ichat.plist and drag it to the Trash (will delete it)

  • Is Windows 8.1 Update 2 bringing back the start menu?

Was browsing group policies in Windows 10 GPMC, and discovered something new... Start Menu layout. But the requirement is "At least Windows 8.1 Update 2". So is 8.1 Update 2 bringing back the start menu? This could change before the final release
of Windows 10 obviously, and they might have originally planned to bring it back in 8.1, before deciding to make it a big deal for Windows 10, but an interesting discovery nonetheless.

Unfortunately, there will be no Windows 8.1 Update 2.  If you want the new Start Menu design, you'll need to upgrade to Windows 10.
"...customers can expect that we’ll use our already existing monthly update process to deliver more frequent improvements along with the security updates normally provided as part of “Update Tuesday.” So despite rumors and speculation, we are not planning
to deliver a Windows 8.1 “Update 2.”  (Copied from this blog)

  • How to bring back status bar when opening Excel doc mail attachment?

I have an iPad updated to 6.1.3.  When I open up an Excel document from mail it opens the attachment fine and the status bar across the top with the 'Done' option to close the doc appears then disappears altogether after a few seconds giving you full screen access to the file.  No problem there, but bringing it back to be able to close the document is tricky.  Tapping along the top works only sometimes....I haven't been able to find a consistent way to bring it back to close the document.  I can slide down across the top to bring up the notification center but tapping across the top to bring the bar back to close the file will only work after playing around with it for about 20 touches or so.  Is there a trick to this or a way to keep the status bar there?  Thanks in advance!!

Then quit the mail app completely and reboot your iPad, then try again. What we are describing is the way that it is done. Your mail app might be just acting a little hinky now.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • How to bring back an email that separated and flew off screen before finished?

I had an email almost completed and the curser didn't move the screen up, so I tried to move the screen up by putting mouse on the bright blue line on the right side of the composed email. What happened was where the curser was pushed all the words up and off the composition without the blue line being moved. I cannot find the word anywhere and really have not idea where they are. They didn't go into the draft so I could bring the composing email back up. This never happened before and not sure why the blue line froze or didn't correspond when I tried to move it making 2/3rds of the email composed.

Sorry, that is not a Firefox issue. You should contact your provider.
Have you looked at your desktop to see if the file is there?

  • Pismo Dieing, how to bring back

I have a beautiful Pismo that's served me well and now it won't boot. It started a few months ago with periodic not responding while I was working on it. I took out the 256 MB memory in the attic to see if that helped, and that did. I just got a HW test CD in the mail today and three runs of the long test say the remaining memory is fine.
BUT, a few days ago, it wouldn't start (no event I know of is associated with this). It would go to the grey apple, and spins, and then to the blue but never get to the blue waving bar and "OS X" splash. Since then, I've reformatted the HD with zero-fill in OS 9, then reformatted in OS X to HFS non-journaled. Now it won't restart still. It gets to the splash and stop half way through (the blue even stops shimmering the opposite way as most apple progress bars do).
One thing is that it never did the "welcome to OS X" thing. Not sure if that matters. Also, I'm waiting 10 minutes for the boot, so if it's slow, it's real slow.
    Any tips?
OS 10.4.9, 256 MB (with one memory card out), 10 GB HD that came with the thing.
I'm happy to replace parts if people are reasonably confident of a diagnosis.

    Paul:
    (1) where's the SMART status
While booted from the install disk, lauch Disk Utility.
Select HDD (Manufacturer ID) in sidebar
S.M.A.R.T Status is at the bottom of the main panel along with other information about the disk.
    (2) is the original drive shipped with a Pismo likely to have it?
Not the original Hard Disk Drive, but on the Disk Utility on the installer disk.
    (3) why buy $100 of software to save a $50 (replacement from OWC) drive.
Good question. If it were to save the disk, it is an open question. However, these utilities will not save the HDD as hardware. Their function is to repair the directories in the formatted volume on the HDD. This can be very important if you have directory issues, as you can repair them, secure your data and continue using the computer. In addition, I use both DW and TTP at least monthly to check and repair the directories on my computer. I have my entire HDD backed up, but the information on my computer is important. I have over 70 GB of information, and would hate to lose it. Regular maintenance procedures can avert what can become disastrous consequences.
Note the difference between the Hard Disk Drive which is hardware, and the formatted volume on the HDD, which contains electronic instructions called directories, for storing, organizing and maintaining your data.
Please don't hesitate to post back with further questions or comments.
    Good luck.
    cornelius.

  • N8 how to bring back Frequently Dialed numbers

My N8 had the Frequently Dialed numbers widget on the home screen, but i removed it. How can I get it back there?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You have to add a widget called Favourites to one of your homescreens. If you don't already have a blank position in the homescreen you will need to remove an existing widget to make space.
I presume you already know how to edit and setup a homescreen since you were able to remove the widget in the first place.
