On the left, you should have a list of keychains and categories. If not, Select Show Keychains from the View menu.
Select the login keychain and All Items in the Category.
In the search field, type something that will help find your  account keychains, like "gmail."
Select the keychain for your email account password and delete it.

If the setting is greyed out perhaps you have restrictions enabled that would prevent someone from changing accounts. Settings>General>Restrictions>Allow Changes>Accounts.

my mac mail won't let me receive emails but will let me send them. How do i fix this ?

I am intermittently having the same problem. I can send email, but once the Mail application is opened, it will only pull emails in from the server one time and then I have to "Force Quit" and restart the application to receive incoming mail again.  I've tried restarting the computer. I've made sure I have all the system updates. I've checked for conflicts between applications and so far nothing fixes the problem. Once in a while, Mail starts functioning normally on its own, but in a few days it goes back to the same old problem. Has anyone figured out what if going on with this isse?

  • Mail won't download from server

I downloaded the new software on my iPhone 4 and installed it.  Now my yahoo mail won't download from the server.  I rebooted, deleted the mail account and reinstalled, and restored the software too.  Any ideas?

Not knowing what’s really going on here, and since re-creating Envelope Index apparently didn’t work, you may try setting up Mail again from scratch, as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/. Move (not copy) the entire Mail folder out of there, to the Desktop.
    3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop.
    4. Open Mail and set it up again from scratch. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and check that everything works fine.
You’ll have to re-configure all your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    5. If Mail works fine now, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import your mail from the old Mail folder that’s now on the Desktop. Import the Mailboxes folder first, then each of the POP-username@mailserver account folders.
As a result of doing the above, some messages may be duplicated now. Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has a Remove Duplicates script that may help to fix that.
Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move the messages anywhere you wish and get rid of the imported mailboxes afterwards.
If all is well and you don’t miss anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Mail wants to download every read email in my Yahoo account.

Suddenly Mail wants to download every single email, read and unread, from my Yahoo account inbox. Can anyone tell me why that might be? I like to keep email for a long time in that box as a backup, so I'd rather not have to check Remove Copy From Server. I don't think there's anything on Yahoo's end that would cause this. How do I prevent Mail from downloading read email from a server?
    -thx

Is the Yahoo account set up as a POP3 account for accessing mail? If you really want to have mail stored on the server after you've logged on to that mail server you need to use IMAP. I don't know whether Yahoo offers IMAP, but POP3 was never designed for some of the uses that people try to put it to. IMAP was.

  • Upgraded Panther to Tiger: now Mail won't download email from Sympatico

    Hi there,
If someone wouldn't mind advising... I just ugraded my wife's powerbook from Panther to Tiger (10.4.9)... and even though her email settings are still the same (incoming server, outgoing server, etc.), Mail won't collect her email from the Sympatico site.
Do I have to get rid of her Mail prefs and re-boot? Or something? (if it's the former, which prefs exactly, and where are they?).
    thanks,
    Malcolm

You can always delete your account from Mail and re-create it... There are 2 kinds of account settings for a Sympatico account:
The "old ones" that have the same settings since Sympatico started 10 years ago:
    Username: b1**##
    Password: access password
    Incoming mail (POP3): pop6.sympatico.ca
    Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp1.sympatico.ca
Port server 25 for Outgoing (SMTP)
Port server 110 for Incoming (POP3)
The other Sympatico e-mail is the enhance one with MSN. The settings are differents and the authentification is different. Any new Sympatico accounts since June 2004 are on that new plaform:
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: e-mail password
    Incoming mail (POP3): pophm.sympatico.ca
    Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtphm.sympatico.ca
    Verify that your server is set to requires anthentiation with agin your Sympatico e-mail and Sympatico password;
Both servers, Outgoing and Incoming, require a secure connection (SSL)
If you are not sure witch is what try to login online at: http://www.sympaticomail.sympatico.ca it will tell you if can upgrade to new enhance e-mail or if you sign in like a Hotmail account if you are already enhance.
    I hope this help....
    Cheers

  • Mail won't download email

My model 10,1   27" iMac running 10.9.4 will no longer download or send email.  It will load on my iPhone without problems.  This started 3 days ago.  I installed 10.9.4 (from 10.9.3) a few days ago, but I'm not sure if the problem started then.  I'm using a wireless system from Century Link for TV and internet; the TV is fine and the wireless printer is OK, too.  How do I try to start problem-solving?

    Linc,
Sorry for the very late reply.  I used your link, plus a couple other related Apple links, for several hours with no luck.  This included two restarts and a couple shutdowns of Mail, all with no results.  Finally I quit Mail again, then worked on Safari for a while.  When I opened Mail again it worked fine.  It's a stubborn app!  Since then, Mail has suddenly quit three times, but at least I receive email at the moment.

  • Mail won't download  .mac email

    Hi,
I can't get Mail to download my .mac email.
The message it gives is below.
    Alert
There may be a problem with the email server or network. Verify the settings for acot ".Mac" or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server "mail.me.com" on port 993 timed out.
I've had the same problems get emails on another mac. it works fine on an iPad, and works fine, if i view mail through the me.com website.
    Any ideas.

    Hi,
Yes, the Halls is by ethernet, though the connectivity, is provided by a different company, not sure who provides the connection for the university, in previous year, Halls used the same connection, this year Another company is providing the service.
I'd say for this problem at least it's resolved, but there are some other problems, that I've put a support ticket in for.
    Thanks.

  • Mail won't download since 26th Sept

    Hi,
I have 3 email accounts all with yahoo but one of these accounts won't download new email since the 26th Sept. I can't see anything different to the other accounts. I know there is new mail as I am receiving it on my iphone and can see it through the yahoo mail browser.
I created a new account in mail with the problem yahoo account details and it replicated all of the emails except those since the 26th Sept basically giving me the same result as the original account in mail.
There are no error messages and it looks as if it is checking periodically for new mail as I would expect. I have no problems sending mail.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks in advance...

I haven't been able to use mail since I got this new G5 with 10.5.5 loaded.
In short, Apple took a perfectly good program (Mail) and loaded it with crap, thereby destroying it.
MAIL IS CRAP NOW, pure and simple!
I wasted hours and hours trying to get this garbage software to work, but NOTHING.
I finally gave up and switched to Thunderbird, which works just fine. Unfortunately, Address Book is now useless, so I have to MANUALLY transfer ALL the contact info I've acquired over the past 12 years and MANUALLY re-enter all the data into Thunderbird, because APPLE, in their INFINITE wisdom, made it IMPOSSIBLE to export Address Book info as a csv or tab delimited file.
***??? Was Apple taken over by Micro$oft or something?

  • Mac Mail Won't Download My Inbox

    Hi.
Here's the full story, at work from August to Jan I was using webmail to access my email, but in January I switched to Outlook. During this period I was using an Acer laptop with Windows 7.
At the weekend though, I bought a macbook pro 13". So I added my email account in 'Mail'. I received a few emails straight away but they were just  my latest emails, not my entire inbox which I wanted!
This morning though I was able to download my emails from the webmail site however that only includes my emails up to January of this year, no emails downloaded from my outlook inbox!
The thing is that I restored my old laptop to factory settings yesterday as I am going to sell it.
What I am wondering, is there anyway to download my outlook inbox to 'Mail'? or because my I restored my laptop to factory settings, the emails are lost?
    Thanks, Sean.

  • E-mails not being downloaded by Outlook express

I have a weird issue with Outlook express - it appears to only download a portion of the e-mails that are sitting in my invox on the server.
For example this morning I could see I had 50 ubread e-mails to download when logging into the webmail interface. Outlook decided to only download 40 of them ??  I've checked the settings in Outlook and nothing appears to have changed. However no matter how many times I run send / receive in Outlook express the "missing" e-mails will not download.
Can anyone suggest what might be the problem ?
    Thanks
    Steve

Does OE give you an error message?
    If no:
Have you tried sending yourself a test message? And does that get downloaded?
    If yes, and yes:
Have you also tried going in to Webmail, creating a 'temp' folder, moving the missing emails into the temp folder, then re-fetching in OE, then moving the missing emails back out of the temp folder into the inbox, and then getting OE to refetch once more?

  • Apple Mail won't download .doc attachments

Lacking a specific "Mail" catagory I've posted this here. Less than Ideal I know but here goes.
    This just started last week.
Many of us in the office and contractors we work with send .doc files by email. In the last four of five days (mid March 2014) Apple Mail no longer downloads them. See the attached image
We can see the document title with a download button above it. Clicking on the button does nothing. Right clicking and using "Save Attachment" yields a 0kb file. Right clicking and using "Open With" results in a blank Word document.
If I use mail clients other than Apple Mail (for example Thunderbird) the documents download correctly.
The problem is not related to spam filtering as we all use different services (and some use none at all).
This is the case across multiple macs using Mail. All the installs worked properly prior to about a week ago.
Is there a fix for this (other than everyone buying new machines and upgrading to newest software)?
    Thanks.

Because Mail is part of OS X you will find a forum in it for the version of OS X you have installed. For example if you have Mavericks 10.9.x then search in the Mavericks forum.

  • TS3276 how do I get Mail to stop downloading the same email multiple times?

My mail keeps downloading the same email multiple times.  I've had as many as 10 of the same emial.  How do I stop this?

Me too - did you ever figure it out?
You can't even delete from the server in mountain lion.... I did it from my old mac, but it didn't work. I keep having 11,000 new emails that can not even be deleted in blocks!!!
Was it a gmail account? Mine is, and my other 2 are fine...
