Mail won't open since I tried to send an email with big attachment.
I have swiped Mail off the multi-tasking bar, I've restarted the iPad several times and have deleted the draft from my email account (going via the web). Mail still wont open...I figure the attachment was goo big and has crashed it. Can you help please?
a reset no data loss. hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait fro the ipad to boot back up.
If that doesn't work, delete and re add the email account.

Hi this morning I tried to send an email with 4 Jpegs photos about 32 meg in size. Hit the send button and it would not send just went round and round for 30 min. Turned off the computer and restartednow I can't access mail on the computer and when in mail mode the quit mail button is greyed out so I can't quit and restart the mail program. My icon shows no mail on the dock yet I know I have 80 plus emails to wade through. Using 2008 MacBook Pro with version 10.6.8. Any help would be appreciated? Looked through the help screens with no luck. Thanks Doug.
Thanks Sig for your input. Yes my ISP says about 27 meg but didn't know this, prior to sending the email. How do I break up the email. Two, when I do break up the email message will it stop the sent message wheel from going round & round, has been doing this now for 3 hours. [email protected]

Hi Bigt101,
It will be great, if you can provide me with the following info.
which Model printer are you using.
Are you registered to the e-print center.
What email client are you using.
Thanks

Mail Won't Open Since Updating to Mavericks
Since updating to Maverick's, I've been having trouble opening Mail. If I restart my computer, I am able to open it one time. Then if I close it, I can't reopen it without restarting the computer. If I try to open it, I get the spinning beach ball when I put my cursor on the info bar at the top of the screen and I have to Force Quit to get it to stop. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? I searched the forums and came up empty so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate that too. I have updated my software to the most recent version, OS 10.9. I installed the Mail update, version 1.0, back in November. I am running on a 2.7Ghz Intel Core i5 iMac. Thanks in advance for any help.
I have the same problem.

Mail won't open since upgrade/updates
I installed Leopard today. Was having problems with Mail crashing before it even started up, so I updated to 10.5.1. Now, when I try to open Mail, I get the message "You cannot use the application "Mail" with this version of Mac OS X." Whassup? I thought Mail 3.1 was part of 10.5.1?! I've tried moving the Library/Mail/Envelope Index doc to the desktop and also tried moving Library/Mail/LSMMap2 to the desktop and restarting Mail. Even tried moving both docs to the desktop. Still not working! Any suggestions?
Can you run mail from a different account? just create an account and see if it works.
Also, what kind of e-mail account do you have? do you keep copies of your messages on the mail server? If so you might just want to trash the entire /Users/user/Library/Mail folder (or at least move it to the desktop) and recreate your mail account. This is a bit painful because you'll have to redownload all your messages but it should cure all your ills. If even this doesn't help, trash the file com.apple.Mail.plist which sits in Users/user/Library/Preferences.
Nuking this file will completely reset Mail for your user account. -
Trying to send an email with the mail client, says password is wrong
The password is right but when I enter it in, it keeps saying that it's wrong and gives the server.ntmp error msg
Not sure if this is what you meant, but the DeliveryNotificationOptions is a bitwise flag enumeration: You can get the value you need for a delivery receipt by using a static property node on the DeliveryNotificationOptions class. Read receipts are a bit different. For this, you apparently have to add a custom header to the email named "Disposition-Notification-To" where the value is the address where the reciept should be sent. Of course the functionality relies on the recievers server supporting the functionality. If you need more info, I would suggest searching MSDN since the question is more about the use of a Microsoft .Net assembly.

I am using Firefox and have used Firefox in the past. This just started to occur extremely recently. I have never had a problem with this in the past. When I attach a document in an email, it seems fine, even after I send it. However, the person doesnt get the option to download or view the attachment. It shows the paper clip as if there was an attachment, but there is no way to open it. Has this happened to anyone else or if you have some advice I would greatly appreciate some of your help.

This is a MS Office issue, I'd suggest taking it up with Microsoft or a MS Office forum. -
I regularly send out a monthly email announcement to about 30 people.
This time it will not Send.
What could be the problem? It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.
You can get it here:
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/
You can download the latest version from here:

Have you downloaded the recent Apple update to Epson drivers?

Safari Quits When Trying to Send an Email With Attachments
I use gmail to send attachments. Now whenever i try to send an message that has an attachment, it quits unexpectedly. This is the only problem i have with Safari. I created another account to check if the problem is in the account itself but Safari didn't exist in the new account (it shows a question mark as an icon for Safari).

If Safari is in its default location in the Applications folder, this shouldn't happen. I'm guessing you moved it from that location, either into another folder or a subfolder of the Applications folder. Move it back into the Applications folder and this part of the problem should be solved. -
Imovie won't open since upgrade to Mountain Lion
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and now Imovie won't open. It tries, but then shuts down with error message. Tried repairing disk permissions and rebooting. Any Help appreciated.
Earlier this week Apple released an update to iMovie that has fixed this for a lot of people. Are you running version 9.0.7? You can update to it by running Software Update or checking the Updates tab in the Mac App Store. If it's still crashing after the update, this seems to be doing the trick for a bunch of people: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4319

Mail hangs sending an email, with attachment, to some Address Book entries
I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Mail hangs when I send an email (with an attachment) to some contacts in my Address Book. If there isn't an attachment then it works fine.
If I type in their full email address (i.e. not their name) into the To: field, it sends it just fine.
Any suggestions please?I am seeing the same thing with SL but without an attachment. If I create a new email and type an email address in the To field then either hit tab or enter the programs freezes for around 8 seconds.
I wonder if it is trying to lookup/verify the address with an external server? Apple mail is attached to an Exchange 2007 server here as well as Gmail. My address book contains both local and Exchange contacts.
For me the problem seems to be intermittent.

Mail won't open reply window & can't type since upgrading to 10.4.6
like the subject says, ever since I updated my OS to 10.4.6, Mail won't open a reply window when trying to reply to a received e-mail. Also, when trying to type a new email message, can only type until the space bar is hit, then get the error sound and no more characters can be typed. Tried repairing/verifying disk permissions several times and checked disk as well, but still won't work properly. Mozilla mail works without any problem, so it must be a Mac Mail thing...
thanks for any ideas...maybe this stuff needs to be tested better before OS updates are put out...will this and all of us be abandoned to Intel MacOS in the near future? Most people having this issue have successfully solved it cleaning up the LaunchServices cache. The following article describes how to manually reset LaunchServices. The notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved.
Resetting Launch Services
The following article also describes the side effects of cache cleaning:
Side effects of System cache cleaning
The following article provides links to some utilities that can be used for troubleshooting and cache cleaning:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
It seems that the most appropriate utility for solving this particular problem is Tiger Cache Cleaner.
In addition to the utilities mentioned above, you may also consider OnyX, if for no other reason, because it's free. If you want to try OnyX, after installing it, do this (be sure to read the articles about the side effects of cache cleaning first):
1. Quit all applications.
2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
3. Click Maintenance. In the Reset section, check LaunchServices database.
4. You may uncheck any other pre-checked options if you've already done them using other utilities.
5. Click the Execute button.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you may try again checking the Links between documents and applications option in step 3 instead.
Please let me know whether you were able to solve the problem, what worked for you and what didn't. -
Mail won't open with the windows
I noticed this started happening after I installed a program called growl. I installed this app and every since then my mail app opens but I don't get a window with it. I have to manually go to the menu and select file new mail windows. Also after I am done mail won't quit. I tried cmdQ but nothing, quit from the file menu, nothing works i have to force quit. it just isn't responding normally. Now i went through and uninstalled growl and all of its files that it created and also the gowl plug-in for mail that i installed also. I tried repairing disk permissions, running the 10.4.4 combo update again and still nothing. I removed the mail preference file and still I get nothing. When i trashed the preference file I lost all my mailboxes and accounts nd now I got some generic icons for trash junk and outbox. They are just folders and thats it.I was thinking about removing the mail folder from my library all tigether but then I would have to set mail up all over again. Please any help would be appreciated. thanx in advance.
Any chance of describing exactly how you did it. I have exactly the same symptoms having tried to load the plugin that enables you to retrieve hotmail (I know I know, why bother).
Thanks very much! -
Mail won't open - generic icon
I clicked on Mail in the dock and the icon turned into a generic icon and bounced, but Mail won't open. I've tried repairing permissions and restarting, etc, but the generic icon remains. In the Apps folder it shows the generic icon, as well.
This is not my primary computer and I'm somewhat reluctant to upgrade the OS due to others that use this Mac. Any thoughts on how I can fix Mail?
It's possible this happened after a software update. But I'm not certain. Thanks.Disk Utility is the same utility that you used to repair permissions. You are correct that you can't repair the drive without booting from another disk but since you don't want to mess with the computer you don't want to repair it anyway. I'm suggesting you just analyze the drive to see if it is in need of repairing because that would tell us if that is the potential problem.
