Mail won't send after lion upgrade

I've an account on me.com and after upgrading to lion mail app doesnt not send mails. All account settings are correct. Any solutions?
Or i should to wait until the next update?

I had the same problem, and tried recommendations that were posted on other threads. It finally occurred to me that I should try signing out and back in on the Mobile Me system preference and it worked. Hope this helps...

  • Mail won't send after Lion upgrade and AT&T won't help

I upgraded my new MBP to Lion and now I can't send mail if I'm on my network at home. After looking at other threads (like this one: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3192956) and based on the symptoms I'm having, I think the problem is likely an AT&T problem. When I use the Lion laptop on a different network, mail works and I can send mail with no problems. That suggests to me that the network is the issue.
I called AT&T to tell them this and they feel everything is working on their end so it must be my email client. They want to charge me to talk to tech support because I'm using an email client instead of their web interface.
Does anyone using AT&T have the same problem? Does anybody know how you get through to a big company like AT&T who isn't listening?

    Hey Kerry,
Believe it or not, sending mail from home seems to now be working for me. The strange thing is that when I made the change I'll tell you about, it didn't work at first, but now it does. The only explanation I can think of is that I've rebooted my machine since I made the change and that seems to have made the difference.
Anyway, here's what I did. In Mail, go to File > Preferences > Accounts. Now, select the account in the left pane if it isn't already selected. In the main pane at the bottom you should see an option for TLS Certificate. Mine had 'None' selected so I opened the combo box and saw there was a certificate I could choose (just a big long string of numbers and letters). I chose that, saved my changes, and that was it.
Like I said, nothing changed immediately after I did this yesterday. But this morning, I can now send mail. So either this change (and a reboot) fixed the problem for me or coincidentally AT&T fixed the issue on their side - I don't know.
Give this a shot and let me know what happens.
    Jim

  • Mail won't send after upgrade to iOS 5.0.1

I upgraded the OS software on my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 and after this upgrade I am unable to send emails from my phone when using Bell cellular.
I can still send emails from my phone using my home WiFi..
    Any ideas?

I just called Bell and we switched Bell to my primary SMTP and my home to the secondary and now I can send email from my iPhone again.
Not sure why this changed with iOS 5.0?

  • Mail crash on startup after Lion upgrade (with my solution)

    Hello,
I'm sure others will run in to the same scare I did when my mail would crash on startup after upgrading to Lion so I thought I would post my solution. It turns out a new mail app is installed with Lion but I had moved my previous mail app to a sub folder in my applications directory. After the upgrade the old version was not updated but the new version of Mail was installed in the Application root directory. Since my mail doc icon was still linked to my old Mail app it was crashing on startup. I deleted my old mail app, clicked on the new Mail app that was installed in my Application root directory, let the mail database update and all seems well now.
This is the second time I have been bitten by moving my Applications around. I have had a similar issue with iWork, and iPhoto. I guess the lesson is to leave your apps in your Application root directory.
    Hope this helps someone else.

That you can create a new user and it works for them suggests it's some sort of corruption in your user profile.
Have you tried repairing the SharePoint Workspace/Office installation?

  • MAIL failure to load after Lion upgrade - can't migrate data

I've posted information in a different forum, but I think that thread is dead so I wanted to post a fresh issue.
    Here's the older post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16615578#16615578
Bascially, Mail won't migrate my data and it crashes before fully loading.
    Summary from other thread:
    - mail finishes inporting messages but then crashes when it hits the migration stage
    - same issue after a fresh install and as a fully updated version
    - did resert PRAM
    - tried tossing Envelope files
    - tried tossing V folder
    - I tried one work around to test it and it worked, but it's a BAD alternative. I can move my Mail folder out of my library and re-open Mail. This starts with a clean slate. I added my Exchange/IMAP account to test. I'm sure I can import mailboxes one at a time. But I tried moving my signatures and that doesn't work. I may to do this option, but I'm worried that I will lose all the rules I developed over the last 6-7 years (approx?) adn signatures for each account.
    - error log is on the link above
I would appreciate some help on this issue before I manually add all my emails. I have 140,000 emails in many folders from the last 10 years and it's not something I want to lose or have disorganize (including rules/signatures).

    Problem Solved!
One of my mailboxes must have been corrupt in the migration phase or have some bad data.
Here's what I did to fix my Mail:
    - all mail messages loading, but then it crashed during migration. This stage of the installation means that the "Envelope Index" file completes writing and a "V2-Temp.noindex" folder is created. This folder is used to build the mailbox environment.
    - I checked the V2temp folder to see what transfered before crash and found that one of my old IMAP accounts was only halfed transferred in the temp folder.
    - I tossed Envelope Index (and other "Envelope" named files) and V2-Temp.noindex into the trash
    - I tossed the problem IMAP folder in the trash too (well actually to the desktop)
    - I tossed out all the CalDAV crap.
    - I relaunched and the folders, emails, signatures, rules, accounts all migrated properly after the mail databasr was imported to the new folder "V2"!
    - A "Mail Lost+Found" folder was also created that I havent investigated yet.
    Coming up next:
    - a full backup of Mail!

You need to reinstall as iPhoto is missing background frameworks required to work.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Outgoing mail won't send after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I've just upgraded to Mountin Lion from 10.6.8 and can't send mail out. I've checked all my username and password details are correct but it still won't work. Doesd anyone have any suggestions. IN coming mail sems to be fine.
    Thanks Adam

Many Users who have Upgraded to Mountain Lion are having the problem that you are having, myself included.  The following solution helped me.
It sounds like you may need to go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts and Complete setting up you Gmail account.  It may not be finished being setup.  For instance, note the line below to be selected from the drop down list in "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP", then click on "Edit SMTP Server List" and complete all of the required Gmail information in the next windows:
    Hope this helps

  • Safari and iChat won't work after lion upgrade

I just completed an upgrade to lion on my 2010 Mac mini and after reboot, safari won't open a web page..it just gets stuck with the blue loading bar about 1 inch from the left and iChat won't connect either.  I've repaired permissions and rebooted several times, checked for 3rd party add-ons and still they won't work.  Help! I need Internet again.  I'm posting this on my iPad 2 because I can't get safari to load a page or download another browser like chrome or firefox:(

OK... i had a quick look around and it seems many peoples various issues were solved by just restarting their macs a few times... i downloaded the java update from the apple support site and then restarted twice and everything now working perfectly.

I've tried verifying the disk, and repairing the desk, but can't find a fix.  It won't launch at all ever since the Mavericks upgrade.

If you did not install the software following the upgrade but did some form of transfer or migration then you should probably uninstall and then use the Cleaner Tool.  After that install using the discs or a downloaded set  of installation files.

  • Brand new iMac 27 2011 won't boot after Lion upgrade

Got a brand new iMac 27 2011 yesterday and did an update to 10.6.8 first before installing OSX Lion over it...
After restarting it just shows then the "prohibitive icon" on screen and shuts down after few seconds...
It won't even boot from an USB stick with the OSX Lion image on it...
Recovery partition works but can't do a reinstall from there....
So going back to 10.6.8 now...

Just so you know I purchased brand new imac in July and did the same upgrade as you. I just installed Lion but did not have any issues. Only one concern overall though, it slowed down my new imac a bit. Not sure if there are settings or not but Leopard was faster than this. AppStore, iTunes are eating lot of memory and CPU util goes up.

  • Magic Mouse won't reconnect after Lion upgrade

Okay, I'll lay this out as quickly and consisely as possible.
I've searched every post and site I can find and tried everything suggested, and still no luck.
I have Mac Pro with an external bluetooth dongle, Magic Mouse, and I have just upgraded to OSX 10.7 Lion.
My Magic Mouse has always reconnected flawlessly to my machine after booting or waking, but after upgrading to Lion, it refuses to re-pair after booting or waking.  In bluetooth preferences, I can see in the Devices pane that "Steven's Mouse" is disconnected, but every couple of seconds this will flash green and show "Connected" - but only for a half second - and then it's back to "Not Connected".
I've set BT setup assistant to open on startup, and only when I have manually deleted and re-paired my Magic Mouse using the keyboard does the Magic Mouse connect.
Then sleep and wake and I'm back to square one.
    I have:
Restarted after trashing every bluetooth .plist file (~/Library/Preferences and also HD/Library/Preferences) - and bluetooth drivers
    Sone several SMC Resets
    Zapped my PRAM
    Made my mouse a 'Favorite'
Deleted and re-paired it more times than I can count
Turned the mouse on and off
    Clicked it
    Double-clicked it
    Kept clicking it
    Turned it on and off
    Triple-checked the batteries
Tested my mouse with another machine running SL
Tested another mouse with my machine
    - All with no luck whatsoever.  I'm about down to writing a suicide note or something!!!
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Steven
(BTW I'm 100% sure the issue is within the Lion system somewhere - not my hardware.

Hi, I had the same problem but it's fixed now.  It seems that the order you turn mouse and bluetooth off and on makes the difference.  This is what worked on my macbook pro (eventually!):
turn off bluetooth and mouse.  Turn on bluetooth.  Open system preferences.  Open mouse. It starts searching. then Turn on mouse.  Hey presto! (and much to my surprise) it found it.
It also worked if I left the mouse on, and turned it off and on after opening the mouse in system preferences and it had started searching.  But if, for example, I turned on the mouse before opening system preferences,it was no go.
There is another issue:  I (like I suspect a lot of people) switch between lion and snow leopard (Macbook Pro and Mac Mini respectively), and every time it has to be paired manually. I have found I have to use the entire process shown above with both OSs.
Also, the mouse has to be paired to Lion at every startup.  I never have to re-pair the mouse with Snow leopard on startup (unless it's been paired to Lion in the meantime!).
I hope that some of this might help someone, even just a little.
