  • Mail Won't Send from Account Selected

Having a real problem with Apple Mail. When using the From: account dropdown menu to select an account different from the default one, I expect that the recipient will receive the email as coming from that account. However, I just learned today that ALL email I send from Mail is using only the default account and completely ignoring whatever account I selected in the From: dropdown.
I also tried setting "Send new messages from:" to "Account Mailbox" in Mail Preferences, but, made no difference.
The exact same problem is happening on my partner's Macbook, who's running the same OS version I am: 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks!
    Tom

I am also having the same problem that just started this morning. The mail is using my smtp server e-mail account from my serverice provider (Bell Canada) for all outgoing mail as the "From" and totally disregarding whatever e-mail account I select to send from. As I have 14 different e-mail accounts for different work activities, it is just not acceptable.
At first I thought it may be a problem with my service provider, but after 2 hours on the phone testing it with them, it is obvioulsy a system problem and not a server one. was there an update that changed something with the mail program??
I am also 24" iMac with 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running Mac OS X 10.6.8

  • Yahoo! Mail won't send from my iPhone since installing iOS 5

    Hi,
I have just upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS. I am not using iCloud. (The issue I am about to describe, or something similar, seems to be reported by iCloud users elsewhere in this forum, but I think the causes are different.)
I synced my mail settings with Outlook, so my Yahoo Mail settings should be the same on the iPhone as in Outlook, where it works perfectly well.
Since I did this, I can receive Yahoo mail on my iPhone, but whenever I try so send mail or reply to a message, I get "The sender address '[email protected]' was blocked by the server." There is clearly nothing wrong with the sender address, as it is correct in the error window, and I have no idea what could be causing the problem.
This is a major pain in the neck. If anyone has a fix for it, I'd be glad to hear what it is.
(I should probably learn my lesson and stop upgrading my iPhone software. Every time I do, something weird happens. )
    Thanks.

Try deleting and re-creating the account on your iPhone.
If successful, deselect transfer email account settings under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by selecting apply before the first sync after doing so.

  • Mail won't send after upgrade to iOS 5.0.1

I upgraded the OS software on my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 and after this upgrade I am unable to send emails from my phone when using Bell cellular.
I can still send emails from my phone using my home WiFi..
    Any ideas?

I just called Bell and we switched Bell to my primary SMTP and my home to the secondary and now I can send email from my iPhone again.
Not sure why this changed with iOS 5.0?

  • Mail won't send from airports or hotels

My Mail always works perfectly at home, but when I travel I can't send emails from hotels or airports, most of the time, although I can always receive email. I don't understand it. Can anyone help?

    Michael,
It is OK to report the name of the SMTP, but minus your username -- is it smtp.mac.com? If so, I think your problems will be solved by changing the Port number to 587, at least at most venues. Some may accept it on 25, as your ISP does, but often 587 will be required. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302030
In your case, the reference to ISP, would actually be the provider of internet services at these other venues. It is likely that Port 587 will also work at home. One of the advantages of a .mac account, is the Authenticated SMTP for sending in other venues, but still subject to any blocking of Port 25 that some providers at the hotels, etc, might be doing.
    Keep me posted.

  • Yahoo mail won't send from iPhone 3gS

I used my yahoo email account on my older iPhone 3G without problems. Now, on the 3GS, many emails I send do not actually get sent. Sometimes there is the "sending" progress bar, but most of the time the messages don't go out and don't get into the sent messages folder. I notice this happening more frequenstly when traveling. This also happens using my corp account which is on a microsoft exchange server.

Try deleting and re-creating the account on your iPhone.

  • Mail won't send without Connection Doctor having to be launched.

Mail won't send without Connection Doctor having to be launched. After running Connection Doctor, it will send, so settings all must be ok. But 15 minutes later, I need to "check again" to send mail. I read previous posts on this from a few years ago, but my laptop is running Lion.

Try just watching the "Activity" window to learn what is happening to your mail - I have found it to be most enlightening.

  • Mail won't send but Connection Doctor says smtp account OK.

I can receive mail but can't send it from Mail 3.5. Same problem on a wired G5 and on a wi-fi MacBook (using the same account), so not hardware related. Worked fine 'till today - I didn't change anything in between times. Incoming mail no problem. Tried mail rebuild, keychain first aid, deleting the account, repair disk permission - doesn't help.
Mail's connection doctor says "smpt.xxxxxx - connection to server succeeded, no login required."
    Anybody any ideas? Thanks, N

Been having the same problem for a few weeks now. This has been working just fine, and all of a sudden - nothing. The update to 10.5.6 didn't do anything to fix this either.
I've spent numerous hours on the phone with the Apple support. Seeing as the two other accounts that I have configured work with no problem, they say that this is a problem with the provider which is also the ISP. I then called the support line for the ISP and informed them of this and they say that it's a problem with the software.
Interestingly, if I send a message to somone with the same ISP, the message will go. But I can't send a message outside of the provider. Does anyone else have this problem?
Also, from another forum, they suggested rebuilding the LaunchServices database. The Apple support didn't see what that would do. But I tried it anyway and the problem still exists.
Another intesting thing is certificates. It's only happened twice, but I've received the message saying that Mail can't verify the certificate XXXXX which validates the identity of the smtp. Anyone else get this? I thought perhaps I could delete the certificate and it would magically reappear. But when I go into KeyChain, the certificate is listed only under System Root and I can't delete it.
    ideas?

  • My mail won't send...

    Hi,
My mail won't send on my laptop.  There is spinning next to "Send" but the message remains in the outbox.
I deleted and readded all email accounts.  This did not solve the problem.
I started a chat with Apple Express support and they said that Lion doesn't support Apple mail so they couldn't help.
    I can send via webmail.
    I can receive mail.
One error message I receive after it has tried to send the message for awhile is:
Connections to the server “mail.smtp.me” on the default ports timed out.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
My password and username are correct; however, the following error message appears in the Connection Doctor window:
Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed.  Verify that the username and password are correct.
Does anyone have a real fix for this issue-it doesn't happen all the time, but has been happening every day for the past week and I need a reliable program to send mail.
    Thanks.
    lsb

    Becky,
Check your smtp server and check if your password is added. After ungrading Mail might have lost the password.

  • Mail won't send mail when in wireless mode but works fine when wired

Ok, this happens all the time. I have several pop email accounts, all of which work fine when I am hooked in to an ethernet cable, but Apple Mail won't send any of my outgoing mail form any of my accounts when i'm am working wirelessly.
I always get a message like:
Cannot send message using server smtp.name.net
I try to switch servers and I cycle through all of them, getting them same message, followed by things like:
The server response was: 5.1.2 Bad or missing RCPT domain k39sm5757680wah
    Any advice.

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
You may use “network locations” to more easily switch between network settings if necessary, as described here:

  • Mac Mail won't send .mac mail

All of a sudden Mac Mail won't send mail from my .mac account through it's mail server even though the MobileMe sends mail just fine.
Anyone know what may be up?
I hate using the mobile me mail.

I experienced the same problem--unable to SEND mail using MobileMe server. Changed to port 587, now seems to work (cross fingers).
I also noticed that I cannot change the incoming mail server name from "mail.mac.com" to "mail.me.com." When I try to change then save, it reverts to "mail.mac.com."
By the way, under the "Advanced" menu, can anyone explain "IMAP Path Prefix"? It's blank by default, I gather. Why might someone use a prefix here? Also the default port is 143 and the "Use SSL" block is unchecked.
    Merely curious.
