Mail won't sync

I am unable to get my Mail to sync with my Gmail. I can send, but not receive from Mail. When I click "Take all accounts online" or "Synchronize all accounts" nothing happens. The "Connection Doctor" says:
Could not connect to this Google IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advance tab of the Account preferences.
The connection status for Mail shows that Mail is abe to connect to the internet. I re-entered the usernames/passwords for the three gmail account I have connected to mail. I double checked my gmail settings to make sure it is set to share messages with mail. I'm pretty sure that the server does support SSL. All OSX updates are installed.
I don't know what else to do. Advice? Thank you!

ever find an answer, Kernels? this happened to two computers in my house suddenly after months of working fine... suddenly Gmail and iCloud accounts won't connect to mail and are giving us the same error. every other email/ mail app works on the same network, which leads me to believe its either an icloud accounts issue (deleting the accounts and re-adding hasn't worked), or an issue with our router (an airport express, newest model), which we've also reset to factory settings a couple of times now to no avail.
regular internet traffic doesn't show any issues, including calendar & contact syncing, just gmail & icloud email.
so far haven't found a solution, and have found very few people who have the same issue...

Frustrated, one day my iPad was recieving and sending mail no problem but now it won't sync with my mail accounts when I am at home, however, it works complelely fine at school or other network.  I've deleted the account and restarted the iPad, input the gmail info again and restarted, restarted my network, turned off my iPhone, changed PUSH settings to manual...
    Not sure what's going on...
    Any answers out there?

On his phone go to settings - reset - reset network settings.  Note password will have to be re-entered for known wifi again.

that's a different issue. you said before that it didn't like the password. what it actually doesn't like is the number of simultaneous connections. quit Mail on all other computers/phones you use to access gmail and try setting it up in Mail on this computer again.

  • Mail won't sync with gmail

Mail app won't sync with my gmail account. I've tried deleting my gmail account and setting it up again, but am getting an error message that my user name or password is incorrect. My iPhone Mail app isn't syncing with gmail either - same error message. I can get into gmail through Safari. I sure would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks.

  • My mail won't sync with microsoft exchange account

    Macbook pro 10.8.1
I have my Mail setup to sync with a Microsft Exchange Account. All syncs between my exchange account, my iPad and iPhone. However on my laptop, old messaged that I deleted ages ago are still there. I get new mail, so I know that it is syncing at some level. When I try to delete the old messages, it tells me I cannot delete them....they are like a lingering shadow that is annoying as there are about 20 of them!

Add it as an Outlook account, but still use your full email adress as a hotmail address.

  • Mail won't sync with my .mac account - won't accept password

I have a MacBook running the OS X 10.6.8.  Recently I have found that I cannot sync my Mail with my .mac account.  I can log on through the internet to iCloud and read emails (I know my password is valid), but when I try to get them synced to my Mail account it won't accept the password.  It looks like this may be a conflict with Mail not being updated to iCloud, but I am unsure.  I have not found an update that will update the Mail to link with iCloud.  My computer is also not new enough to update to the new Lion OS.  Am I stuck?  This has been very discouraging and I have been wasting hours of valuable time trying to figure out how to fix this.

Did you turn on iCloud Drive by any chance? If so, then until Yosemite comes out, you won't be able to sync your documents and data to your Mac:

  • Mail won't sync with icloud.

I have an iphone 4 32gb, Win 7 x64, itunes 11.02.26, ios 6.1.2, and Outlook 2010.  Recently had to do a complete Windows reinstall from scratch, but everything was backed up and is up and running normally again.
The iTunes info tab for my iphone says that my contacts, calenders, tasks are being synced with my iphone over the air with icloud.  The mail is not.  Previously it was.  The icloud control panel only says the 'contacts, calenders and tasks with outlook' being synced, but mail is not listed. Clicking on the message only unchecks the tickbox.
MS Outlook has my @me.com account installed and working and 3 other email accounts, and the icloud refresh button on the toolbar is working ok.  The same mail accounts are installed on the iphone and work ok.  My phone and Outlook can each access all my mail accounts seperately without a problem.  At present I have left the mail tickbox unchecked on the itunes info page for my iphone.  (I dont want to mess up the information on either unless I have to).  There are no checkboxes for the contacts, calenders or tasks as they are using icloud.  Under 'settings/general/icloud' on my iphone, Mail and calenders are both selected to ON.
When I try to log into icloud.com, I get a message that 'icloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server', but the system status check shows no problem.
How do I get my mail to sync between outlook and icloud the same as calenders, contacts, tasks and bookmarks?

If I understand what you are saying, iCloud seems like its over-hyped and is pretty useless for Mail and Calendar. It makes no sense to me to have Calendar and Mail available on iCloud if it doesn't show the same Calendar and Mail that is on your iMac and iPad.
Yes, my Calendar syncs with Google as well as on the iPad and iMac. Why shouldn't it also sync with iCloud?
Because it's a Google Service not an iCloud service, you can still sync it to your Mac and your devices, just not using iCloud.

  • Calendar and Mail won't sync  with iCloud.

They synchronize fine between iMac and iPad. Contacts, Notes and Reminders are the only categories that do sync with iCloud on my iMac.  I am running the latest Mountain Lion upgrade.

  • Mac Mail won't sync with 2nd Gmail account

I'm using Mac Mail (ver 6.6) on OSX 10.8.5 on my Macbook Pro.
I have my Mac Mail set up to fetch mail from multiple email accounts through IMAP.   One of these is my old trusted personal gmail account, and it has been working fine for 2 years.    However, yesterday, I added a new email account called "d-ourovino", which is for a business.    The "dourovino" account is hosted at gmail as well.     It is now working and syncing fine.    But since I've added "dourovino", my old personal gmail account has stopped syncing, even though I didn't change any of its settings.  What is going on?  I'm at a total loss.  Any suggestions?
    See screenshot below...

This unlocking of the CAPTCHA also got my gmail to work. I think, just by noticing how gmail works, that if you make too many sign in requests within a certain amount of time---they load the CAPTCHA process to make sure you're a real person and not a computer. Since I was signing off and on repeatedly trying to figure out why it wouldn't take what I KNEW to be the password---turning off the CAPTCHA function just let gmail take your user name and password and log in. YEAH FOR THE HELP!!

  • Mail won't sync with iMac

I am using and iPad, iPhone and an iMac - my mail account is a msn account and iCloud seems to sync perfectly between the iPad and iPhone but not the iMac - i have checked all the settings and they are all swithced on for using iCloud but it just wont work - any suggestions would be very welcome

On a Mac MSN defaults to POP access, POP systems don't sync, you should change your account type from POP to Imap, and then it will sync.
You MUST backup your existing email before you do this, when you have done that you can delete the existing POP account and re-enter it as an Imap account.

  • Mail won't sync all folder from Microsoft Exchange

I have been using Mail to connect to my office Exchange account from past 6 months and the experience has not been great so far.
Each day when I open Mail, it syncs only the folder which is currently selected and does not sync other folders at all. I need to synchronize multiple times and restart Mail multiple times to get this working correctly. And Mail also intermittently stops receiving mails with no error.
I tried it on both iMac desktop and MacBook pro and results were the same. Whenever I face this, I try to use Connection Doctor and Ping to monitor server and it seems to be fine.
Anybody else facing the issue? Any troubleshooting tips or fixing tips are welcome.
Thanks a lot for your time in advance.

Which version of exchange are you connecting to? How did you set it up?
