Mail works on my other apple products but not my iMac - how do I fix that?

I cannot download my mail on my iMac but I can on my MacAir, iPhone and iPad. I have a gmail account. I have tried to delete and add account but it just downloads email from a couple of days ago and no recent email.
Any ideas?

This forum is for the long-discontinued eMacs, not iMacs. If you do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and tell us what that says about your processor and your OSX version, we can ask teh Hosts to move you to the appropriate iMac forum for your version.
