MailBFR and services restart

We're seeing an issue with mailbfr and the services not coming back on after the backup is done. What seems to happen is that the server is brought offline, backup runs, but we don't get the confirmation eMail and we come into work to see that some of the services are not online.
It had been running fine until last week Thursday when this happened. We noticed that there was an update from 0.95.0 to 1.0.2. We performed the update and everything was fine for a week. Now it happened again overnight. It almost seems as if the services aren't being shutdown but need some help to determine what is going on.
Thanks!

Jeremy,
before 1.0.1, mailbfr would use Server Admin to stop and start mail services. Since, unfortunately, Server Admin can get out of sync and "forget" which services should be started and which shouldn't, this has been changed.
As of 1.0.1, only Cyrus is stopped and started using launchctl. Nothing else will be stopped by mailbfr. Postfix will continue to work and spool incoming messages until Cyrus IMAP is up again.
What exactly is not starting/working on your server (using 1.0.2)? What do logs say? Also, make sure you have no other cron jobs running in parallel. If in doubt, change the time mailbfr runs.
HTH,
Alex

Okay ... it's a better bet with a 1067 error message when trying to start the Apple Mobile Device Service, but we'd better check for a LSP issue, as per the following document:

    Hi,
After we copy the Test-Port function within the gallery to our computer, then we could use below command to check connections, for example:
test-port -computer "imap server" -port 389 -tcp
We can save the result in a variable like below:
$result=test-port -computer "imap server" -port 389 -tcp
    More details:
    Windows PowerShell Script: Test-Port
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/wsnetdoc/archive/2011/11/07/windows-powershell-script-test-port.aspx
Then if the value of $result indicate that the connect is failed, then we can use
Restart-Service cmdlet to stop and then restart the specified service. Or use start-service command:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849825.aspx
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Michellem_14,
Have you reset or restarted your iPhone since the update?
Hold down the home button and the power button until you see an Apple logo
Release both buttons and the iPhone will restart.

    Hi Mateusz,
Thanks for suggestion. I have run the command and it looks very much like this bug
"CSCte50152 : Memory leak in CCM due to Transient SIP Connections"
However, I don't see the line "operate new" which results in memory leak as suggested in "Trouble shooting core dump " section of CISCO FORUM.
Could you please have a look at this backtrace and further advise ?   Thanks in advance.

    3) Foundation Services Managed Server Application Server
    4) Hyperion Reporting and Analysis Framework - Agent Service
    5) Reporting and Analysis Framework Application Server
    6) Web Server
The remaining services and processes can be started in any order:
    7) Performance Management Architect Server Services
    8) Performance Management Architect Application Server
9)Performance Management Architect Data Synchronizer Application Server
    10) Essbase Server
    11) Administration Services Server
    12) Integration Services Server
    13) Essbase Studio Server

Also, I try to stop the user profile service and user profile sync service and restart both. The timer service restart problem has gone!! However, new error in the event viewer.

  • Call Manager Cisco SOAP - CDRonDemand Service restarts every 8-10 minutes

    Hello there,
I just upgraded a customer to 10.5.1.10000-7 of call manager.  Now the Call Manager Cisco SOAP - CDRonDemand Service restarts every 8-10 minutes.
    I tried:
-rebooting the cluster (pub and sub)
-restarting the CDR and Soap related servers
-turning off CDR under service parameters and restarting services.
Any other thoughts? all replication reports look good
    thanks

    Hi,
you have probably only two options. Let a TAC person look into it if you really want to know whats wrong.
The other option would be to deactivate "Cisco SOAP - CDRonDemand Service" since no appplication is using CDR on demand. That service is only used when an application is pulling CDR records derectly out of the database which seems not be the case.

  • My nano (4G) shuts off while playing, doesn´t respond until plugged in, then apple logo appears and it restarts.  Restore worked for a week, same problem today.  Says it is 50% charged.

My Nano shuts off in the middle of playing music/podcasts. It won´ respond until plugged in, then apple logo appears and it restarts.  I restored factory settings and installed the newest OS which worked for a week, but it´s the same problem today.  It happens while at 50% power or better (according to battery icon).

It sounds like the battery itself is going bad, which is likely given the age of the 4G Nanos.  You'll want to have your iPod serviced by Apple or a third party service center to have them swap the battery out.  Otherwise, it's time to start investing in a new iPod.

you don't have to purchase acrobat pro xi.  you can, but you can also use it via adobe's creative cloud subscription service.
to use it via cc, uninstall your current trial.
then go here and log in with the same adobe id used to pay for your cc subscription and start your acrobat xi download, Adobe: Creative, marketing, and document management solutions

  • CallManager Service Restarts

    Greetings,
We have a CallManager running 4.1.3(sr3a). About 1-2 times a week the CallManager Service restarts. At first I thought this was occurring at the same time as backups, but I have since discovered that is not the case.
We have noticed this for more than one customer running different versions of CallManager. It is usually occurs after hours, and most of the time it is not occuring at the same time as backups.
The last time this occurred there were a lot of transient connections events in the app log, and then the last entry before restaring in the event log is SDL error for connectivity to the sub. (also this appears to happen on the pubs).
    Any ideas?

    Which server model?
    Available memory?

I widely recommend you to open a TAC case.

  • Restarts and general restarts

I did a notebook recovery and a Pavilion dv6 and had to remove battery to start the reset and I never correctly put the battery in place and had a "X" in the battery/power conection icon. I was found that my hard drive was faulty (Error 301). The hard drive has been replaced and when it requires a restart it stopes at reboot stage, so I have to power down and remove power and battery. Now when I restart the LEDS in F11& F12 lightup as when I have not removed the power only the LED on the F12 key lights up and does progress to boot stage.  Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.

For your use and reference I have included the driver page and service manual for your notebook.
HP Pavilion dv6-3030tx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service Guide
After the hard reset are you still seeing a difference in what happens when you try to start with or without the battery installed?
Are there any error messages on the display at all, or are there any LEDs flashing in a repeating pattern?
Try the hardware tests and see if anything shows up. Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista)
Then I would try Restoring the BIOS and see if that helps or not.
Let me know how that goes for you, and anything else you see or hear(error messages, flashing leds, beeping sounds)

  • CF10 App server running after reboot; but website unavailable until service restart

    Hello, everyone.
I recently returned to a job I previously had after several months at a different job.  Upon my return, I inherited someone else's dev system (my previous dev system, apparently, had been reimaged and given to someone else, after I left.)
This system originally had CF9 server on it (the ColdFusion9 folder is still here) and now has CF10.  Using the built-in web server (no IIS, no Apache.)
Every time I boot/reboot the system, I can see in Computer Manage System that CF10 Application Server is, indeed, running.  But if I try to open any of the pages that I am working on, I get an error message that the site can't be found.
I go into Computer Manage System, go to Services, right-click the CF10 Application Server, choose "Restart", wait for it to finish, and voila!, I can get a working page.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and/or how to remedy it so that CF will work immediately after boot/reboot without going to restart the service?
    Thank you,

Good to hear you solved it. If you may still want to know exactly why that was causing an issue, I would propose something I didn’t yet see anyone else do: look specifically at the CF log called coldfusion-out.log. That is basically the “console log” when you run CF as a service, and it would be interesting to know what was in that log if you compared the startup messages in your working and failing examples.
The log tracks info generally for days if not weeks or months (depending on what else is logged in the file and how quickly it fills), but it may well give you insight  into what was up. I’m not saying there WILL be something there. As Anit said, what you experienced was odd, but if there will be something logged anywhere about this, it may be there.
If nothing else, I leave this here for anyone else who has a similar sort of problem in the future.
    /charlie
