Mailbox database contentindex state is failed
Hi,
I have two mailbox servers in DAG (MBX01 & MBX02).
when I check database copy status it show contentindex state failed on mbx02 server.
I tried with command update-mailboxdatabasecopy -identity database1 -catalogonly but it is gives error;
The operation couldn't be performed because 'database\*' matches multiple entries.
how to resolve it, please share resolution.
Hi,
Please seed the content index catalog using the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -CatalogOnly cmdlet to check the result.
You need to specify the Mailbox server on which the database1 is, here is an example for your reference.
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity DB1\MBX2 -SourceServer MBX1 -CatalogOnly
For more details about this command, you can refer to the article below.

Database ContentIndex State: FailedAndSuspended in DAG
I have two exchange 2013 SP1 servers in DAG Exch01 and Exch02.
when I checked database copy status, it is showing contentindex state failed all four databases on both two servers.
I tried with command "Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus * | where {$_.ContentIndexState -eq "FailedAndSuspended"} | Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -CatalogOnly" but this didn't helped.
I have tried to delete the index folders and reseed, also tried reseeding complete mailbox with no luck.
Restarting server didn't helped as well.well we are using VMware and this error was happening due to Network card settings and NIC was losing the packets. below is How to Fix..

Primary Mailbox Database fails to replicate after failing over to secondary copy in DAG
We had an issue yesterday on a primary mailbox database server when the drive the log files are located on filled up and took the databases off-line on the primary server bringing them up on the secondary.
After the issue was resolved and enough space was freed up, all but one database failed back. The one that would not come back showed Failed in the copy status. It remained mounted on the secondary server. I attempted several times to 'update' the copy and
it would run for aver 40 minutes and look like it was going okay then it would 'fail' and end up in a 'failed and suspended' state. The error would indicated it could not complete because the it could not find the source server.
The Update job was configured to point to the server holding the secondary copy as the source so should not have a problem.
Any idea on how I can get the primary copy working again? I thought about making the second copy the 1st to activate and removing the primary copy from the DAG and recreating it, but past experience doing that did not resolve the issue.
Thank you,
Nick

Failed to Manually Seed the Mailbox Database Copy on Exchange 2013
Hi,
I tried to manually seed the mailbox database copy via exchange shell by run this command
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy –Identity “DB_name\Server” -sourceserver "Name Server" –DeleteExistingFiles.
However, i got the error message whereas shown below.
A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'identity'.
+ CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy], ParameterBindingException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy
+ PSComputerName : XXXX.abc.XXX
Any ideas?I hope database is in suspended state and not in failed state.
Make sure EMS is running As Administrator.

Mailbox Database Content Index Failed and Suspended
Hello,
I am having an issue with a Mailbox Database. The content index shows FailedAndSuspended. there are no Bad Copy Counts and it shows as Mounted. I have no DAG so this is a single database and followed the article
here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633475(v=exchg.150).aspx
After it crawled for a little while it went to Failed, then unknown, then crawling, and has finally ended up at FailedAndSuspended again. I am also popping errors as follows:
MSExchangeFastSearch Event ID 1004
MSExchangeIS Event ID 1012
MSExchange ADAccess Event ID 4020
MSExchangeRepl Event ID 4087 (Though this is weird as it is a stand alone database why would it try to replicate it?)
MSExchange Common Event ID 4999
The following Warnings are hitting at the same time:
MSExchangeFastSearch Event ID 1006, 1009, 1010
MSExchange Mid-Tier Storage Event ID 6002, 10010
Anyone have any thoughts on a fix for this?
Michael R. Mastro IIOk I did a Set-MailboxDatabase "Mailbox Database #" -IndexEnabled $false, then stopped both the MS Exchange Search and MS Exchange Search Host Controllers. Started them again and it showed disabled when I did a get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus. I then went
Set-MailboxDatabase "Mailbox Database #" -IndexEnabled $true. After about 10 minutes got a FailedAndSuspended Status. So here are the logs from event viewer.

Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013 gives error "Failed to communicate with the mailbox database'
I have been trying to migrate several databases from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. The migration started successfully, and many of the mailboxes moved successfully (about 70). The remaining mailboxes, failed. Looking deeper, we found a few issues; The
two 2013 Mailbox servers were on different versions. The Server had run out of disk space, and the NIC drivers needed to be updated.
Now when we try to migrate a mailbox that had failed in the earlier batch, we get the following error:

All of the issues listed above have been corrected, and all of the databases are mounted. Users are able to send and receive mail, but I can not migrate mail using the Migration Batch utility.
The destination server is a Hyper-V Guest running Server 2012, SP1, and Exchange 2013
The Source Server is Running Exchange 2007.
I have tried doing a test move to another destination server that is also Server 2012, and Exchange 2013, and the migration also failed.
I would appreciate any help you can give me!
Thanks,
JonAny update if you have resolved the issue.

Mailbox Database Copy Status Failed
We have 2 Exchange 2010 servers. We run a DAG. Recently I have noticed that database copy DB2 which is located on Exch-1 is showing "Failed". Database copy DB1 which is located on Exch-2 is showing Healthy. I searched online
for information regarding the issue with the failed database copy. I found information that led me to run these commands.
Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity “Mailbox Database XXXXX\Server Name”
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity “Mailbox Database XXXXX\Server Name” -DeleteExistingFiles
It went thru the seeding process and completed but the database copy still shows "Failed". Copy Q Length is 19. I have refreshed the console. What else do I need to do to correct this? I did recently shut down Exch-2 server
for maintenance. thanksHi,
It's glade to hear the good news. Thanks for your updating.
Best regards,

Fail to add mailbox database copy
Hello,
When I am trying to add a mailbox database copy in DAG, I receive the following error:
error
The seeding operation failed. Error: An error occurred while performing the seed operation. Error: Failed to notify source server 'mbx1.domain.local' about the local truncation point. Hresult: 0xc8000713. Error: Unable to find the file.
when viewing details of the passiv, error message shows:
The database file wasn't found after log replay. The copy will be set to failed
Please help. ThanksHi,
Please use the Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus cmdlet to check the health and status of mailbox database copy.
Please dismount and remount the active mailbox database, remove the failed passive database copy and then add it again to check the result.
Besides, please check the application log to see if there is any related events.
Best regards,
Belinda

In Process Definition of Exchange User target resources, there is a "Database Updated" task.
If this task is exist, database must be updated.
Why I can not update mailbox database?
Thanks.
Best regards.Thank you Alex. As I was firing up the shell to test this out I realized I was using the wrong account! Poor naming convention it seems =)
Appreciate the help. -
Active Manager failed to mount database Mailbox Database?
So we had our stuff working fine with exchange 2010 rc and 08 r2 rtm... We installed antivirus on our server and now get the below message.... Everything "seems" to work though... We get two of these messages per reboot though... one with the main box database and one for the public folder one....
Again all seems to work okay, we have tried to remove AV but didnt fix.
Any suggestions?

Hello!
I'm getting this warning when removing a mailbox database in Exchnage 2013 SP1:
I've never had it in Exchange 2013 (NOT SP1)... How can I now remove a "monitoring mailbox object of database ..." from my AD?
Thank you in advance,
MichaelHi
Here you go
Failed to remove monitoring mailbox object of database “database_name”. Exception: Active directory operation failed on “server_name”. This error is not retrievable. Additional information: Access is
denied. Active directory response: 000000005: SecErr: DSID-031520B2, problem 4003 (INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS), data 0.
In this case, the database was removed an Active Directory [AD] error (with a not very useful description) complaining about insufficient permissions is thrown. If you run:
Get-Mailbox -Monitoring
You will most likely see a warning regarding a corrupted Health Mailbox:
WARNING: The object “domain_name”/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Monitoring Mailboxes/”Health_Mailbox_GUID” has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:
WARNING: Database is mandatory or UserMailbox.
Because Exchange 2013 did not have sufficient permissions to the domainname/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Monitoring Mailboxes Organizational Unit [OU], it could not delete the AD objects related to the database’s health mailboxes. In
this case, the database attribute is null because the database the health mailbox references no longer exists.
To fix this issue, simply delete the health mailboxes referenced by the error(s) from that OU by using Active Directory Users and Computers. After removing these, the warning should be gone.
Deleting health mailboxes is a low risk procedure because they will be automatically re-created by the Microsoft Exchange Health Manager service on the Exchange 2013 server hosting the database when this service is restarted

Power outage Mailbox Database won't mount
Hello,
We have experienced a power outage, when we brought the server back the Mailbox Database wouldn't mount.
After that i ran Eseutil /mh and was on dirty shutdown, the i did /r and finally /p
Database is now on Clean shutdown state but still doesn't mount, error in event viewer:
failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: Operation failed with message: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=-344) ---> Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.AmOperationFailedException: An Active Manager operation failed. Error: Operation failed with message: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. EAC loses connect to Mailbox Database Server
I am having a weird issue with EAC. We have 2 mailbox databases but only 1 is used as the main production, on a separate server. The other database was the first one in the implementation. It hosts system attendant and a couple of administrative
accounts. This mailbox database was dismouting so I ran eseutil and it showed a dirty shutdown state. I ran the log file sequence which checked out fine. I completed a soft repair using /r option. After this the database was in a clean
shutdown state. I rebooted the server and the database mounted successfully.
The odd issues is that EAC will lose connection to this mailbox database and show in an Unknown Status showing 1 failed copy. However, if I check that server the mailbox database shows mounted and healthy. After a while it will remount.
When double clicking on the database name it says the information store isn't running but it is running on that server.
Even though this isn't the main production server for the users we have noticed that outlook will disconnect for users. Only after restarting services on the CAS (Separate server) will services return to healthy. I have scowered the event logs
and find hardly any information that relates to the issue.
The only error I see but have found almost no information on is MSExchange Mid-Tier Storage Ping of mdb 'e7304e5c-37f5-4fb4-8e6a-02f4426f0820' timed out after '00:00:00' minutes. Last successful ping was at '2/28/2014 2:39:55 PM' UTC.
I almost think its an issue with the CAS server hosting EAC. Maybe an IIS issue? However I can't find any errors on this server related to it. Any help would be appreciated.Hi,
I would like to clarify the following things for troubleshooting:
1. Please run IISReset from command prompt at first.
2. What's more, I recommend you run the Get-MailboxDatabase "xxx" cmdlet and check the result.
Besides, please confirm that if there is any user reporting any Outlook/Exchange usage problem.
Hope my clarification is helpful.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Amy

CAS restart and Mailbox database dismount unexpectedly somtimes
Hi all,
In my environment I have 2 Exchange server 2013 (CAS + Mailbox Role both) CU2 : EX01 & EX02 in DAG01. Sometimes CAS service is restarted or Mailbox Database copy on Exchange servers is dismounted unexpectedly. For example today:
I have "Mailbox Database 01" copies on EX01 & EX02
Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus "Mailbox Database 01"
Name Status
Mailbox Database 01\EX01 Healthy
Mailbox Database 01\EX02 Mounted
"Mailbox Database 01" copy on EX02 is dismounted, of course the other copy on EX01 is mounted automatically

On EX01 I can see many 1309 , 2009 , 6002 , 4999 in Event Viewer on both servers, and they just used half of RAM
I'm going to upgrade to SP1 this weekend but please help me to figure out really reason of this issue, limit of max connections on Exchange/Window server , or Disk IO or something ?
Thanks for your help.Last night I tried reseed Mailbox Database 01\EX02 , about 8:15 PM
I checked event viewer, last 2153 event happened on 7:49 PM, check around :
