Mailbox Issues in New Databases in DAG

Ran across a strange problem after moving mailboxes into 2 new Databases in DAG. We have a 2 Server DAG that
had 2 existing DBs. We created 3 additional DBs and planned on moving all MBs over to reclaim space from the older DBs. After moving 30 or so Mbs to the new Databases we found that while mailflow functioned, we could not access any shared mailboxes or mailboxes
that had full control permissions could not be added. Users that had been moved but had shared MBs on another DB in Outlook would get error messages that Folders could not be expanded or Exchange Server was unreachable, all while mail flow was functioning.
Moving these users back to the original DBs solves the issue.
Any ideas what could be happening to the new DBs added to the DAG? The DBs were mounted and copies were healthy.

Hi ocean,
Thank you for your question.
Did you rebuild profile to check if the issue persist after we move mailbox to new DB?
Are there multiple DCs in your organization? And please make sure sync is no problems between DCs.
After we move mailbox, we could check if shared permission or Full Access Permission is missing on recipient mailbox.
We suggest we post the entire error information to
[email protected] for our troubleshooting.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
Best Regard,
Jim

  • Can't move FederatedEmail mailbox to new database

I've searched other related threads but cannot locate the problem. I've recently moved all of our mailboxes out of the default mailbox and into 4 smaller db's. All the user mailboxes are moved, as well as Discovery and SystemMailboxes. But I cannot
get the FederatedEmail arbitration mailbox to move. Also, how many SystemMailboxes should I have? I noticed it reports I have more than one, but not one per database.
It seems to be barking about the default quota limit in the destination database, which is set to 1GB/1.25GB/1.5GB. However, it reports the size of the arbitration mailbox as being 1MB but it still says the target quota is 1MB. What am I missing?

    Hi
Open up that federated mailbox in AD.
Clear the Attributes on the account as per below:
    mDBOverHardQuotaLimit
    mDBOverStorageQuota
    mDBUseDefaults
    Try move the mailbox.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Database defragmentation or creating a new database?

    Hi,
We want to reclaim the whitespace in our Exchange database, so do you recommend creating a second database and moving the mailboxes over there, or shall we go with offline defragmentation?
    Database size: 400GB.
    Mailboxes counts: 300.
    Thoughts and recommendations?

How much free space is in your database?  If it's under 20%, then I'd stay as you are.  If it's between 20% and 40%, it becomes a judgment call.  If it's over 40%, then I'd create a new database and move the mailboxes - primarily because this
will allow your users to access unless their specific mailbox is being moved (and even then, the access I available for most of the move anyway), and you will both remove whitespace and eliminate any bad items you may have in the database.  Just keep
in mind that when you move the mailboxes, any recoverable mailboxes will remain on the original database unless you re-associate them with accounts so you can move them.  (And if you re-associate them with accounts and move them, their "deleted on"
date counter will be reset to the date you move them, if you delete them again.)
Taking the database offline so you can compact it will leave your users out of email access for the duration of the process.  And if you have a DAG and multiple database copies, you will need to reseed them each after the process is complete.
If you create a new database, with associated copies on other servers, the move mailbox process will automatically reseed the database.
Ever since Exchange 2000, when multiple database were available on a single server, I have been leery of running an offline defrag.  And since Exchange 2010 and its move requests, I am adamant against doing one - we reclaimed nearly 24TB in our 24 databases
(each was nearly 2 TB, and each is now under 1 TB), all using the process I suggest above.

  • Rename existing Exchange 2010 database in DAG

    Hello,
I want to rename one existing database on our exchange 2010 server. This database is in DAG and hosting around 1000 users. So not possible to create a new mailbox database and move.
How can I rename the database?
After renaming it, what will happen to the Copy database on another server as it is in DAG.
    Thanks,
    Mihir

    Appreciate your response, Andy.
    To clear my doubt,
If I am ok to reseed the passive copy, then I can follow below steps, Correct?
    --> Remove Passive copy
--> Remove Database files and Log files on this passive server manually
    And
"1. Then will a New database with this new name be created?"
--> On Move database, I will mention same location, but just
rename .edb file. So a exact copy of new database with this new name will be created. Correct?
--> And then I can delete the old named .edb, Correct?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot seed a new database copy

I am setting up databases on a 3-node DAG.  I had created one database (DB1) and put copies of it on the other two servers, then I received and configured additional disk space and wanted to move the database to that.
I was able to create a new database (DB2) on the newly configured drive and successfully create copies on the other two servers.  However, I am having trouble after moving DB1.  I deleted the two copies of DB1 and then successfully moved DB1
to its new paths for the database and logs on the server EXCH1.  When I try to create copies of DB1 on the server EXCH2, I get the following error:
The seeding operation failed. Error: An error occurred while performing the seed operation. Error: Failed to notify
source server 'Exch1.mycorp.com' about the local truncation point. Hresult: 0xc8000713. Error: Unable to find the

Based on things I read, I have tried dismounting and remounting DB1 and even restarting the Information Store.
Do any of you know what the problem is?  I assume it may have something to do with previously having copies of DB1 in a different path on EXCH2 and EXCH3, but I don't know where to go from here.
Thank you for your help again.

    Hi,
From the error message, this tells us that there is either a corrupted log file or a broken sequence in the logs on the active server that is EXCH1.
Please dismount the database DB1 on the active server EXCH1 and clear the logs files, mount and then try add database copy on EXCH2 server.
First please use the eseutil /mh command to check if the database is in clean shutdown state.
If it is clean shutdown, create a folder called OLD Logs and move all files except for the “.EDB” file into that folder.
Remount this database and add database copy.
If the issue persists, please check the application log to see if there is any related error message.

  • Connection problem with new database

    Hi
Installed new database on my windows machine successfully

ORA-12500:TNS: listner failed to start dedicated server process
    wlile connecting toad and sqlplus

Please read the error again "listner failed to start dedicated server process". Means what, listner listened your request to connect, it tried to hand-off the connect request but due to resources problem (lack of memory) it is not possible to start server process; i.e. presumably the server is very busy at that time. If you are not able to resolve the issue, please check the unwanted services and stop them in strat-run-services.msc.

  • SSMS crash when creating new database diagram

For several years I have been unable to create database diagrams from within SSMS.  I have tried every combination of VS2005, VS2008, VS2012 and VS2013 with every combination of SQL2005, SQL2008, SQL2012 and SQL2014.
I have installed, uninstalled, and repaired many dozens of times.  I am currently using VS2013 ultimate with SQL2014 express.
I have tried every related 'workaround' that I can find on the internet.  Still the problem persists.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Here are the relevant details with file versions:
In SSMS, I right-click on a database and choose New Database Diagram.  A Blank diagram window appears with the SSMS error dialog:

  • Creating a new database vs. Using the existing database

    Hi,
I have to build a new desktop application over an existing oracle database -
Current database is around 300 gb
    Has 1500+ tables
Tables are in denormalized form and has ungrouped table columns
High level of nesting is done in the triggers.
Now before I take decision to use existing database I want to know
    1. what factors to consider while choosing between the existing db or a new db?
    Thanks in advance.

Some of the things I would consider before including the two desktop applications together:
Would you mind impacting one or the other application (downtime) if you needed to bounce the database for any reason, or if there were issues with the database. Keeping them separate would prevent having to bring down both applications if the database went down for any reason (planned or otherwise).
Would the type of activity in both databases be so similar that all global optimizer and other parameter settings be perfect for both cases?
Would the SLA be the same for both databases? Would your customers agree to impacts of one application data if you had to roll back the database for the other application?
By having the two applications in the same database, you are also stuck with having to wait for both application vendors to certify their product with the next patch level or version for upgrades. Keeping them separate eliminates this problem.
Is there any compelling reason to keep them together?
Personally, I would keep them separate for all of the above reasons, and many more which I did not bother to write.

  • Oracle Discoverer 4i (portal db - oracle 8i) connectivity issue with 11g database

    Hi All
We have oracle discoverer 4i with portal db (oracle 8i).
We connect to the external databases using db links in the portal db and the reports will use the db link to retrieve the data from views in the external databases.
External databases we were connecting is oracle 10g version and now we have upgraded these databases to 11g version.
Now i have a created a new db link to this 11g database and i have created a new EUL in portal to connect to this 11g database.
But when i try to create a report using the discoverer from this new EUL after login to the discoverer we get a "cannot connect to database" error.
We have all the necesscary privilege to the user and the new database link works perfectly fine. (when we try to query directly using SQL plus from portal database using this db link the query works perfectly fine).
Im not sure if this is a compatibility issue in connecting from oracle disc 4i to a 11g database.
Can any one advise if this is the case and if there is any workaround for this?
    Regards,
    Raj

Are you saying you are having issues with a database link between 8i and 11g (pl post exact versions to 4 digits) ? If so, it should be expected as database links between these two versions are not supported. Is there a reason you cannot upgrade the portal database to at least 10gR2 ?

  • Report Server create new database error

    Hello everybody
I have MSSQL 2012 Standard Edition SP2 istalled on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I had installed Reporting Services on that server (thru install wizard add new feature).
Reporting Services installed with no errors, there is SQL Server Reporting Services service in SQL Server configuration Manager and it is running. When I launch Reporting Services Configuration Manager it saw the reporting services name and instance name,
but when I try to define the new database there is such error:
Could not connect to server: The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception.
The Reporting Services and Database Engine are on same server. I have the administrator permission both on Windows and SQL server instance
    Please help
    Thank you

    Hi HeyLe,
Based on my research, the issue may be related to user access permission. You can refer to the following method to troubleshooting the issue:
Open C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG folder | right click on the machine.config file | Properties | Security | make sure your domain account has FULL CONTROL permission on this file.
If above steps still do not work, please backup your machine.config file to somewhere else and replace with the attached one from my Windows Server 2008 environment.
Alternatively, app.config file also may cause the same issue.
There is a similar issue, you can refer to it.

  • Created new Database in OTM

    Hello,
I've created new database in OTM application. After a hard time, it was succussfully done. unfortunately, one issue is still pending and am not able to re-solve that. once i logged into the application, i got an error 'syntax error - ...otm/treeview.do". when i open this link that was not system founded that was actually shown me an apache error. and on the right panel loading page was coming contineously.
I've done the ODBC config and the database config too..Also checked the server name and other details but still not able to solve this issue
can anyone help me on this?

    Hi
Can you confirm that the relevant tables have been created in Oracle.
Version 8.50 uses 2 databases one (an Access database) to log in and the second (Oracle in your case) to store project related information.
I think that the issue that you are seeing is due to the oracle database not being created properly.
    Regards
    Alex
