Mailbox limit

Hi All,
Hope ur all doing very well..I have one general question regarding Mailbox Size Limit, let say I have mailbox Database DB1 it has no size limit defined. In this DB1 I have mailbox MB1, now let say MB1 is 5 GB in size and it has individually defined mailbox
size limit 10 GB, since it is already 5GB in size, what will happen if I change its limit from 10GB to 3GB?

Individual mailbox limits override any database set limits, so nothing will happen. The user will never know the difference.
If you change the mailbox quota limit from 10GB to 3GB, then the mailbox will be overquota and the user will not be able to send or receive mail.

  • Exchange Cutover Migration Mailbox limit

    Greetings,
    In the Microsoft documentation says:
You can migrate a maximum of 2,000 mailboxes from your on-premises Exchange organization to Exchange Online using a cutover migration. This migration method only moves mailboxes,
mail users, mail contacts, and mail-enabled groups.
But in the EAC migration console when I select cutover migration it says the limit is 1000 mailboxes
I need to validate if the limit is 2000 mailboxes or 1000, and also if I can migrate more than 1000 mailboxers without issues even when EAC says the maximum is 1000.
Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hi AC,
As the documents said, the limit now is 2,000 mailboxes.
I notice following information in the article
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/w/solutions/4294.aspx :
In Remote move migrations, you have to implement a hybrid deployment to migrate more than 1,000 Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 mailboxes to Exchange Online.
Please verify whether you are in the Remote move migrations.
Also suggest asking Office 365 forum for help so that we can get more professional suggestions. For your convenience:

  • Increased mailbox limit on one mailbox - How long until it takes?

    Good day all.
This past week we had migrated from 2010 to 2013.  A few mailboxes are full and I understand why this happened.  What I don't fully understand is that when we edit the limits on individual mailboxes, the change doesn't seem to take right away.
I made the change via EAC if that make any difference.
Is there a way to trigger this so that so that the end users see the results faster?  The test I did was to simply send an email from OWA after I increased the mailbox but I got an NDR and OWA was warning me even before I sent the email that the recipient's
    box was full.
    Thanks in advance

This reg key still works in 2013 from what I have seen:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb684892%28v=exchg.80%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
I generally set to 20 minutes.
If you want to make the change even more immediate, start a mailbox move on that mailbox. Once the quota change takes affect, you can cancel the move. I have seen it take a few minutes before the new quota is applies after starting the move request.

  • Raising the size limit on mailboxes

When will Verizon raise the limit on sub-mailboxes from the very low 200MB to something higher.  These days storage is much cheaper so they should be raising the mailbox limit to at least 1GB for all mailboxes.

At a guess? They won't. Email is not a "main" product in Verizon's eyes. Keep in mind that this is a peer-to-peer support forum.
If you want to get information from Verizon, you should contact them directly via one of the options on their Contact Us page.

  • Unity - How do I turn off voicemail message "your mailbox is almost full"?

We recently set a mailbox limit on our exchange server. Some users are over the limit until they deuce their mailbox size. When they check their messages via the 7940 "messages" button, they get the message "Your mailbox is almost full?etc" before it will playback their messages. Once they get their mailbox under 90% of the limit the messages will go away. My question is how do I turn off the message? I realize the message is a "good thing", but even if it's a system (all off) setting, please post. I did find how keep outside users that are calling in from hearing that they can't leave a message because the person they're trying to contact has a full mailbox, so that's not what I'm looking for. I?m just trying to find out how to keep the user with the new limit from hearing that every time.
    We are running Unity 4.2(1)

You can disable this in the registry. This is not a Cisco documented or recommended option. I have done it for customers who were really adament about the notifications.
Here are the steps to do on your Unity server. Again I want to stress I'm not sure if this is Cisco supported but it's a simple change that requires no reboot.
    1. Backup your windows registry
    2. Open regedit
    3. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Active Voice\MalEx\1.0
    4. Open the REG_DWORD DisableStatusCheck
    5. Change the value from 0 to 1
This should take effect right away. This is a universal system all off for the Unity server only. Exchange is not effected.

  • How to solve the mail box size limit for thunderbird

    Hi,
I tried to do archiving for my mails but everytime it will prompt me mail box size limit has reached and ask me to delete older mails and the problem is my HDD is more than enough to contain those archives so am asking if there's anything which i can get this solved for good?
    Regards.
    Andrew Koh

    Background info:
Emails are downloaded and stored in the Inbox file written one after the other.; they are not stored as individual emails in their own file. So the Inbox folder in the FolderPane is actually a file.
Any email you delete is marked as deleted and from your point of view it disappears from eg: Inbox and reappears in 'Deleted' folder. In reality it is still in the Inbox taking up space, marked as deleted and hidden from view. Compacting removes all traces of 'marked as deleted' emails and reduces the file size. If a file becomes corrupted and you compact that file you may lose good emails. this can occur if you do not compact on a regular basis.
It is wise to create a backup on a regular basis.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
    '''RE: Archiving'''
Archiving is not a backup. It is a means of storing old emails in smaller files accessible within your Profile mail account. So releasing space in other folders.
If you have been archiving all emails into just one Archives folder, then you are putting all of your emails into one file.
Did you set up Archive Options?
    See info at these links:
    * https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/archived-messages
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Archiving_your_e-mail
Did you choose to archive by month and retain folder structure?
By using these options, if you archived last months Sent emails and say you had another folder called 'Family' and you did the same, they would be stored as follows into smaller files, so you should not reach a mailbox limit.
There will be no emails stored in the actual 'Archives' folder, nor the '2014' or '2014-5' folders, they will be in the relevant folder name - see below
    eg:
    > Archives
    >->2014
    >->->2014-05
    >->->->Family (one month of emails here)
    >->->-> Sent (one month of emails here)
Suggest you do the following and in this order:
    * create a backup
    * delete any emails not required
    * compact folders
    * set up Archive options and organise emails as shown above, so that emails are only in that months eg: Sent archive Folder.
    * Create another backup when everything is organised.

  • Collaborating Using Exchange 2010/3

I suspect these are genberic questions which relate to Echange 2013 as well as 2010 but would really appreciate some help with the following. I have a very basic understanding of Exchange but have never been involved in setting up Server Side instalations
only clients and do not know its true capablilties in comparison with a mail hosting company using IMAP access.
Essentially I am trying to advise a client who is a small buisness involved in Property Management. There are 6 staff who each have a personal email address for communicating within the office but use a shared account for receving and responding to
clients and agents. At the moment the main mailbox
[email protected] plus their personal account is set up on their desktop using IMAP. Recently they have created scores of folders in the main inbox which they use for Filing away emails from the various clients emails. The problem with this approach
is that they have all but exceeded their mailbox limit but also sychronisation of the inbox via IMAP is very slow due to tha large amount of inbox storage.
I am condidering advising that they upgrade to a hosted Exchange service however I am unsure if:-
    1) Synchronisation of the Inbox and all its included sub folders will still be as slow as with IMAP or does exchange deal with synchronisation differently?
    2) Currently they cannot use the multiple coloured Flag or Catergory options as IMAP only supports a single flag. Will this work with Exchange with multiple users accessing one mailbox?
    3) Can you set up Exchange for only a single account and still have their personal accounts set up as IMAP in Outlook 2010/3 or would it be better to move all accounts over to Exchange
    Many thanks
    John

    In answer to the above:
Synchronizing a lot of data is going to take time, regardless of how it is hosted.  Exchange does synchronize differently, but only testing is going to say which works faster.  I'll add that once synchronization on either is complete, it doesn't
    need to synchronize again.
Exchange uses Outlook as the client application, and I don't know if Outlook in IMAP has the same types of flags as Exchange.  Is it possible that categories might work better for what your customer intends to use flags for?
You can have Outlook for one account and IMAP for others.  However, if you configure Outlook with the personal account as the Exchange account, the shared mailbox will automatically be added to Outlook for all users who have access to it - there is
no management of two mailboxes, as there is with the IMAP accounts.  You will want to make sure they use Outlook with a cached profile, but that's the default, so it should be easily deployed.

  • Exchange 2007 rejects password

I have been using Mail with exchange server 2007 for over a month with no problems. Yesterday the exchange server began rejecting mi password, the password is the right one because I can access the server from my iphone, owa or outlook in a PC.
I deleted the password from the keychain, deleted and recreated the account, completely deleted all mail accounts from u
ser/library/mail and recreated all accounts, nothing works.
I suspect an update to the exchange server released 2 days ago (kb971737 - Extended Protection for Authentication in Microsoft Windows HTTP Services (WinHTTP)).
Anyone having the same problems or is it just me? ideas on a fix?

Here's something that cured my problem with the password... MAILBOX LIMIT REACHED!
I'd forgotten that I'd just received a few emails to say I was within a few MB of my Exchange Mailbox limit. Managed to prune that down to a sensible size using OWA, then right-clicked the Mailbox > Synchronize XXX Exchange Account in Mac Mail. Within seconds normal service restored.
I've read elsewhere that there's a limit using EWS on how many messages and size of mailbox that Mail can handle, so thought it was time to hack my emails down anyway. Doesn't explain why I could still access via VPN though ...?

  • Odd folder behaviour in Mail 2.0.7

    Hi,
Mail's been behaving oddly lately ... though I've repaired permissions after every install/upgrade etc.. Wonder if anyone had any ideas about this ...
I have a lot of folders and sub-folders for various clients and other junk as I really don't like an inbox with hundreds of mails to sift through. Much easier for me to separate them out.
However sometimes folders just disappear temporarily. Quitting mail then re-opening it always brings them back.
Most often it's 'drafts' or 'outbox' that goes AWOL but sometimes it's one of the folders I've set up. I've just double checked the whole thing and I've not got a lot of data, certainly no where near the 2gb mailbox limit I read about somewhere else.
    Clues? Suggestions? Is it broke?!?
    Thanks ...
    Greg

    Greg,
With the legacy of prior versions of Mail, and the enhancement applications, there is a good bit of potential for unexpected problems. However, none of those "potentials" come immediately to mind for this problem. However, with Mail 2.0, there is a completely new structure, and approach to indexing everything. The presence of left over files, with is common, can complicate the health of the index, as also might any non-current structure of the Mail folder.
In the Mail folder, there should be one or more account folders (depending on the number of accounts) and you have mentioned at least two. In the Finder, open Home/Library/Mail and observe. Your NTL POP account and the Gmail account should each have a POP folder. Within each POP folder, will be some files for administration, and also folders named INBOX.mbox, Sent Messages.mbox, Drafts.mbox, Deleted Messages.mbox, and if using Junk filtering in Automatic, a Junk.mbox. Do you find this to be the case. The POP folder should be at the first level of the Mail folder, and subordinate to any other folder hierarchy.
Also, at the first level of the Mail folder, you will find the Mailboxes folder -- in the Mailboxes folder should be found the Outbox.mbox, and any xxxxx.mbox folders for any mailboxes you have created. These xxxx.mbox folders may be within other folders, and not. Do you find this organization in place? By any chance, do you find any folders named Personal within the Mail folder?
With regard to leftover files, that can be quite problematic, let me include the following:
Since your mailboxes, or at least some of them, originated in Panther (and earlier), I want you to read the article at the link below, and get back to me with some observations, before attempting any changes:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301315
This issue of leftover files applies not only to mailboxes you have previously created (which are in the Mailboxes folder the article mentioned) but can also apply to those mailboxes in account folders created prior to the upgrade to Tiger.
Also, you may want to report the size of each file or folder found within a typical mailbox such as INBOX.mbox and particularly Drafts.mbox. Do not, however, try to list the files that are within the folders named Messages, that are found in each and every mailbox. If conversion was fairly recent then it may be very important to compare the size of any file named "mbox" with that of the Messages folder. If the mbox is greater in size than the Messages folder, then not all messages have been converted to be in the Messages folder.
Once again, the path to the Mail folder is Home/Library/Mail -- within the Mail folder are one or more account folders and the Mailboxes folder. In addition, with Mail 2.0, there is a file named Envelope Index at the first level of the Mail folder. This new universal index supplants the separate index file once found in each mailbox -- it health may be impacted by the leftover files, if any.
    More info, please.

  • Outlook receiving conflict messages

I have started to see this happen more and more.  I have users that are getting the conflict message show when a user opens up email messages.  They have to keep the item or keep all.  What would be causing the conflict.  The users in
question are using outlook in cached mode.  We are using exchange server 2010.  I have seen this happen in outlook 2010 and 2013.
Would the user approaching the mailbox limit cause the conflicts to happen?

    Hi,
Please provide more details about this issue, such as, what is the error message?
If it's about the mailbox quota, it may be caused by a corrupted .ost file. I suggest you rename the .ost file, then restart Outlook, a new .ost file will be generated and check if the problem persists.
If it warns you the user is approaching themailbox limit, the error message may also prompt, consider to delete some unimportant items or archive some items to local.

  • Best affordable business email hosting

I'm looking for an affordable email hosting solution for my company.
*I need emails to come from [email protected] - it cannot be [email protected] on behalf of [email protected].*
I need our current Outlook folder structures to be the same on the iPhones and Outlook (read mails appear the same on both, moving an email from the inbox to a specific folder, etc.) It would be nice if the same thing happened in a webmail client as well.
I have approx 25 users in total - 5 have iPhones. The iPhone users outlook .pst files are between 2-5 GB. The remaining 20 users have about the same mailbox sizes, about 5 more would benefit from a IMAP setup and the rest would be fine with a POP3 setup based on multiple backups of the pst files.
gmail is out for requirement #1
mobileme is out for the same reason.
In house exchange is too expensive.
Hosted exchange is a little more than we want to spend (I've seen around $15 per user w/ a 2 GB mailbox limit. The majority of the users won't benefit from Exchange and I can't justify $4500 a year when we're using the included email hosting from our website hosting for $0.)
I checked our Fusemail and Simplicato. Both were the most affordable and seemed like the right fit. $2 per month per user w/ 10 GB and 5 GB storage respectively. I found a several bad reviews saying that both services were unreliable. Many of the those reviews said they went with Mailtrust and are much happier.
    http://www.mailtrust.com/noteworthy/features/mobile
Calenders and contacts don't synch w/ iPhones. Push mail and instant sync is not supported w/ the iPhone. (Push email sounds nice, but the decreased battery life would probably stop us from using it.) If necessary, we can use the hybrid account - some users on hosted exchange around $15/mo and others on the basica imap account for $3/mo. The iphone users would get get all the features they want.
    *Inhouse hosting*
We used to use IPswitch Imail, but stopped hosting it ourself when we got a virus. We can implement that again w/ some antivirus software, but that involves $1000 for a new workstation to run it (I don't think a P4 2.4 GHz workstation we have lying around will run it so smoothly.) It would be the cheapest the implement at around $1500.
A checked out a couple other packages, SmarterMail 5.x seems like a good alternative. It claims to have iphone over the air sync. It would be around $1500 - $2000 for the new workstation and software. It seems like a good alternative, but it comes with the headaches of hosting it ourselves. https://www.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/SystemRequirements.aspx Taking a look at that, it says the max incoming connection can be 10 on non windows server based setups. I guess that didn't affect us before because we used POP3.
Any recommendations? Any experience with the companies I mentioned?

Take a look at www.ExchangeMyMail.com. You can have the domain that you're looking for (provided that it's not already taken) and their AS Push service for iPhone and Tech support for setup is outstanding.
As it is an Exchange service you get full calendar and contact synching along with Push mail and a good web based account/domain admin tool. I have not found Push to be a battery hog in any way. It is far more efficient than time-based fetch on both performance and power.
Pricing at EMM is reasonable as well. Let us know how you make out.
    Good luck.

  • Mail Limits

Is there a limit as to how many emails, mailboxes, sub-mailboxes, that Mail can effectively handle?
I have about 25 mailboxes, some with 10-40 sub mail boxes, and some with sub-sub-mailboxes. My Library/Mail folder is almost 300Mb.
I've run into some problems with renaming mailboxes and sometimes with moving emails or mailboxes.
I'm also asking because it seems lately that Mail is getting slower, and I don't think it's Mail's fault. Sometimes when I click on a folder the contents show immediately, sometimes it takes a while (20 or more seconds).
    Thanks

As long as you keep each of your mailboxes under 2 GB, the overall size of the Mail database shouldn’t be a problem unless it’s really HUGE, which is clearly not your case.
Mail does, however, have quite a few bugs & glitches when it comes to managing and/or renaming mailboxes. Here are some examples I’ve “collected” over time:
Saved mail not showing in user-made mailboxes (Mail 2.0.7)
Apple mail deleted some of my messages...
    Folder recovery
Mail loses messages moved into IMAP folders
Recovering mail from an application error
Mail creates mailbox folder named / (slash)
    White inbox, emails all lost!
    Trouble importing mailboxes
deleted folder mystery what happend and where is it now
moved a folder ... now its empty!
Bug when mail folders are moved
    Problem Importing & Moving Messages
    Crazy problem moving nested folders
Mail Crashes on Import. I DataRescued a deleted mailbox, now OLD MBOX ICON
I’ve never experienced such problems myself, which makes me wonder whether some filesystem corruption could have a bearing on those problems. You should probably verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
    <hr>
Stanley, do you really have a 4 GB INBOX? The theoretical mailbox limit in Mail 2.x is 2 GB, and it was significantly lower in Mail 1.x — see Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty.

  • SCCM 2012 RTM & Windows Mobile 6.5 device inventory

    Hi all
I have an issue collecting the right hardware information on these devices. I have setup device enrollment which works fine but I can't get it to inventory either the IMEI of the device or phone number.
Looking at the hardware inventory classes I cant seem to find anything relating to IMEI or phone number under mobile device classes.
Am I going to have to go down the custom mof route? Searching around it seems that IMEI and number collection was in SCCM 2007 but can't find it in 2012...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Panu
Thanks for your response, it seems that the Device ID field is blank on the harware inventories for my 6.5 devices :( So far I have tried a Psion EP10 and a HTC HD2 both with the same results.
Unfortunately Activesync is not an option due to additional licensing costs and with the number of devices being rolled out it would take us over our Exchange standard mailbox limit.
Looks like I have 2 slightly different problems then:
    1) Why is the device ID not being returned?
    2) Do I need to create a custom mof file to collect the phone number?

How do I limit the number of emails that show in my active mailbox?  There was a way in Settings on ios 6, but i can't find it in ios 7.

You need to delete your current hotmail account set up on your iphone.
Once this has done click 'Add Account' and select the new 'outlook.com' tab.
Set up your hotmail account again from scratch and this will then allow you to select how many weeks/months of emails you sync to your phone.
Im not sure if anyone else had a similar problem to me prior to iOS 7, but if i deleted an email from my hotmail account on my iphone - it wouldnt sync with my actual hotmail account. So when i logged in online all the emails I had deleted on my phone would still be showing as unread.
But by setting the account up as above, they now sync perfectly.
    Well for me anyway
