Mailbox migration 2010 SP3 to 2013 error

We have a migration problem, a single 2010 server with all the roles migrating to 2013 with separate CAS and DB roles. Approx 50% of mailboxes are getting stuck and reporting "Transient error MapiExceptionNetworkError has occurred. The system will retry
(1/60)" and "Relinquishing job because the mailbox is locked".
I have tried restarting the services suggested in another thread (Mailbox Migration Service and Search) but it makes no difference.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Ben

Hi ,
Please find the below mentioned points.
1.Please share me the output for the below mentioned command.
Get-MoveRequestStatistics -Identity [email protected] -IncludeReport | Export-CSV C:\MRStats.csv
2.Please check the content index state of the target database is healthy and ensure the entire mailbox database status was in healthy state.I mean the database where you are going to move the mailbox.
3.If your exchange 2013 environment is having an single exchange server and target database copy doesn't have the second copy then we need to set the below parameter value to none for that particular database.
DataMoveReplicationConstraint : None
(or)
If your exchange 2013 environment is having an multiple exchange server and target database copy is having  the second copy then we can set the below parameter value to secondcopy.
DataMoveReplicationConstraint :Secondcopy
Note : After anyone of the above change ,Microsoft exchange mailbox replication service needs to be restarted.
4.Restart the Microsoft exchange mailbox replication service and check the results.
5. Have you tried moving the same mailboxes to the different databases.
6.Please check the mailbox size which you are trying to move to a different database.Because there might be lot of possibilities to have the target database with limited size.
Please feel free to reply me if you have any queries.
Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • Migrate from Exchange Server 2010 sp3 to 2013 sp1

I have one Exchange Server 2010 SP3 server (300 mailboxes) installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with three major roles on it (CAS, MB and HT) - typical installation. Edge Transport server is not installed thus for controlling of mail flow
Symantec Messaging Gateway Virtual Appliance is used as Smart Host. UM server is not installed either. I set up test domain environment where I installed one domain controller (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) and one Exchange Server 2010 SP3 (Windows
Server 2008 R2 SP1) at first place and yesterday I did everything necessary to install Exchange Server 2013 SP1 on new test virtual server running Windows Server 2012 R2 which I successfully did.
Now in test domain I have two Exchange Servers (2010 SP3 and 2013 SP1). Is there any 100% reliable documentation with all actions that had to be taken in order to successfully migrate Exchange Server 2010 SP3 to 2013 SP1? I would want to know what
needs to be done not only for my scenario but also for other scenarios (DAG, CAS array, Edge, UM, multiple HT servers . . .) since I am interested in digging deep into Exchange Server 2013.

  • Export mailbox from 2010 (sp3) and import into 2007 Sp3 rollup 10

I have no issue exporting the mailbox from 2010.
The issue is importing into 2007.  I have a 2003 32 bit server with outlook 2003 sp2 running etc.  Every time I try to import I get the below error.  Is this even supported?
I've scoured the web, tried fixmapi, added permissions, different switches, etc.  The pst attaches fine to the mailbox without issues.

Any help or sugesstions would be great!

Steve I see that Belinda suggests that this may be a bug and that you are on SP3, however it may be that you need to update your systems completely to see if the issue is resolved.  To be able to find the actual patch level you are on you would need
to follow the steps below.  Once you know your actual patch level you can either just update to the latest and greatest and try again OR read through the various fixes for each patch newer then what you have applied
    1.    This is the link for the Exchange Server Build #'s including Service Packs
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/240.exchange-server-and-update-rollups-builds-numbers.aspx
    a.    Only thing you will not find in this list are the IU (Interim Update #’s) because they are unofficial patches to fix specific issues and then must be uninstalled before moving on to the next RU, CU or SP.
    2.    To find the SP, RU, CU level that your server is on use this Powershell command.
    GCM exsetup |%{$_.Fileversioninfo}
EXAMPLE 1:  Below is the result from a server with 2010 SP1 RU6 installed and you will see this referenced in the above link
Product Version         File Version          File Name
    14.01.0355.002           14.01.0355.002   C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\ExSetup.exe
EXAMPLE 2:  Below is the result from a server with 2010 SP1 RU6 installed WITH an IU from MS and you will not see this version referenced in the above link but it is sequential, i.e. SP1 RU6 is .002 and the IU is 003.  So in short by looking at this
and the above link you could easily infer that this system has SP1 RU6 with some type of IU installed.

I have several mailboxes that are was moved from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010.
Sometimes occurs a problem: in OWA may appears error "A problem occurred while you were trying to use your mailbox" when selecting interface elements (such as "Options", "Public Folders",
"Reminders"). After this error user cannot access to mailbox through OWA during 10 minutes. The error "A problem occurred while you were trying to use your mailbox" appears in top of browser window on any computers. This behavior is manifested
in any browser, but it can not be associated with any particular event.
Access to mailbox through Outlook or through mobile devices (ActiveSync) continues to work fine in this time.
The errors in Application log on Client Access Server is absent (including error with EventID 9646). ExBPA is not showing anything specific to that error message. Test of OWA connectivity working successfully.

  • Outlook Users connection issues after Mailbox Migration from 2007 to 2013

    Hi,
We have a coexistance between Exchange 2007 SP3 and Exchange 2013 CU7. There is an issue when after migrating the user from exchange 2007 mailbox to exchange 2013, the outlook keeps on prompting for password when it is being launched. Checking the Connection
Status we found that there is a connection to the old 2007 Server and the type is Exchange Public Folder. I have migrated the public folder and checked the Mailbox of the user and found that the DefaultPublicFolderMailbox is set to the 2013 Public Folder Mailbox.
If I check my 2013 MailboxDatabase Properties, It sill shows that PublicFolderDatabase Properties is still pointing to the 2007 Public Folder Database. Any resolution on this?
Another issue is, We set outlook anywhere on the 2013 to use basic authentication, however, when users are migrated to 2013 the Outlook client changes to NTLM. even if we set the outlook to basic to make it work, it still comes back to NTLM after a while.
I did most of the resolutions online to use powershell to make changes to outlook anywhere but no luck. any suggestions is highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Arthur

    Hi,
For the first problem, please check the msExchHomePublicMDB attribute for mailbox database in Exchange 2013, you can check this attribute in ADSIEdit.
If this attribute is pointing to Exchange 2007 public folder database, please set to blank. After that, please restart the information service.
And for the second question, I suggest we open a new case for this issue. In order to avoid confusion and keep track of troubleshooting steps, we usually troubleshoot one
issue per thread in order to find a resolution efficiently.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Exchange Management Tools? Hybrid Exchange 2010 SP3 - Exchange 2013 (Office 365 - Exchange Online)

When running in Hybrid mode... is there any advantage to installing the Exchange 2013 server management tools on my machine versus the Exchange 2010 management tools?
    Any advantages/disadvantages?
I still do have some on premises mailboxes that need to be migrated to the cloud (Exchange Online).
    Thoughts? Suggestions? Experiences?

    Hi Viva,
We don't have Exchange Management Console in Exchagne 2013 in all the web interface we used in Exchange server 2013. In Exchange 2010 we are having Exchange management console. Hence we can able to access exchange 2010 and 2013 both on the same server.

  • Mailbox migration between two Exchange 2013 servers is horribly slow

    Hi,
when migrating mailbox between 2 exchange 2013 servers,it s horribly slow. I have found some articles which describing problems about content indexing and missing AD group. This is not my problem, I have tried solutions but it didn't work. Both exchange
are next to each one, same VLAN, same switch. Just migrating between databases.
When I start batch jobs it is migrating only 1 mailbox at once and speed is really slow (2000 - 3000 mail items per 5 minutes). So mailboxes which have 10GB it's migrating 3 hours. My server is on 1gbps LAN.
I have also checked MsExchangeMailboxReplication.exe.config on both servers:
        MaxActiveMovesPerSourceMDB="20"
        MaxActiveMovesPerTargetMDB="20"
        MaxActiveMovesPerSourceServer="100"
        MaxActiveMovesPerTargetServer="100"
        MaxTotalRequestsPerMRS="100"
Do you have any idea where to look why only 1 mailbox is migrating at once?
    Thanks

    Hello,
For the reason why only 1 mailbox is migrating at once when you start batch jobs, there is no official articles or blog to explain it.
I recommend you check if the speed is slower when you move a smaller mailbox. If the issue doesn't occur, I recommend you set
    the AllowLargeItems parameter.

    any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Please check to ensure the SQL Server (RTC) service is running on the new front end.
Also check SQL configuration manager and ensure that TCP/IP is enabled for client protocols under client configuration (although this should be enabled).
    You may also re-run the database installation procedure for the CMS outlined here;
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688013.aspx (assuming that you've already performed it once).
You may need to include the -clean switch if you have already done this, then attempt to move it again.
Attempt the move command from an elevated management shell (administrative credentials)
    Kind regards
    Ben

  • Error proxing from OWA 2013 to Mailboxes in 2010

We have a problem about the Exchange 2013 OWA accessing to a mailbox in Exchange 2010, if the mailbox is in 2013, the OWA works like a charm, but if I use another user mailbox that is residing in 2010, appears a screen shows me that something gone wrong,
but does not shows more details, I searched in the application viewer, Exchange management, system, the IIS log in CAS and Mailbox of 2013 and 2010 and there's nothing correlated to this issue.
The servers are Exchange 2010 Sp3 last CU, Exchange 2013 CU5, the schema and domain are in 2013 CU5.
This problem presented previously with Exchange 2013 SP1 (CU4), so I update the Exchange 2013 to CU5, but the problem remained, so I think that the issue is not in the Exchange
    Only shows:
    something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.
    X-FEServer: MAIL

Is there some thing that I can enable to try to get a detail or clue for this problem? because in any place there are not a error code or something else to dig
I saw another sites that describes a problem about the canary, but this is not the issue
I saw other about problems to open another user mailbox, so that neither apply to this situation
In the ADSIedit, I saw the info in the picture.
All the configuration  and modifications are writen to CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYD...), and the other I think that came from another previous update, I'm afraid if I delete that subtree can be worst for all the Exchange organization or may
be not. But I not sure if that can be the issue.
The CN=Primera Organizacion has not subfolders

    Hi Brenle
I got the log for OWA, but it's not to clear to me, administrator user's mailbox is in Exchange 2013, but User001 is in Mailbox 2010, this is a piece of the part where I suppouse must be information:

  • Migrating mailboxes from 2010 to 2013

I have tried to migrate a mailbox between forest from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 but when I run the new-moverequest on Exchange 2013 I get the following error
RemoteLegacy moves must involve Exchange 2010 or lower versions only.
Remote Moverequest dosn't work (The call to ‘https://mail.com/EWS/mrsproxy.svc’ failed. Error details: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority ‘mail.com’. –>
The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. –> The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.)
Can i use RemoteLegacy moves, or only Remote?
    Thanks.

When migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, a Remote Moverequest must
    be used.
    Example:
    $Cred = Get-Credential (source\account)
    New-MoveRequest -Identity [email protected] -Remote
    -RemoteHostName mail.sourcedomain.com -RemoteCredential $Cred -TargetDeliveryDomain targetdomain.com
So with the above example, the certificate installed on the source server must include the name mail.sourcedomain.com and target server must trust the certificate.

  • MS Exchange 2010 Sp3 Ent Migration to Exchange 2013

    Hello,
We currently have 2 Exchange 2010 SP3 servers in 1 DAG. Both servers host CAS, Mailbox and Hub Role.
I want to introduce a 3rd Exchange 2013 Server and slowly move users onto a new DAG I build in Exchange 2013.
Can I create a 3rd Exchange 2013 Server with CAS and Mailbox Server Role and make the 3rd Exchange server (2013) a member of the existing (2010) CAS array then slowly perform local move requests for users mailboxes
from my Exchange 2010 DAG to the Exchange 2013 DAG without any disruption to my outlook, OWA and AS clients?
    Exchange 2010 (Windows 2008 R2)
    Exchange 2013 (Windows 2012 R2 DataCenter)

    Hi,
In Exchange 2013, all Outlook connectivity (Internal and External) takes place over Outlook Anywhere(RPC/HTTP). Thus, CAS array which is used internal for RPC/TCP protocol (MAPI) no longer exists in Exchange 2013.
For your coexistence environment and the plan to migrate all mailboxes to Exchange 2013 in the future,
we need to set all virtual directories for CAS 2013 and enable Outlook Anywhere for Exchange 2010. If the mailbox is moved to Exchange 2013, the Outlook client would connect to the server which is set in Outlook Anywhere External host name
and Internal host name instead of CAS array. If all configurations are proper, CAS 2013 would also proxy the service requests for Exchange 2010 users.

  • Sharepoint 2013 vs Exchange 2010 SP3 search (Error while crawling LOB contents)

    Hi there:
We are trying to solve the problem: ERROR CRAWLING LOB CONTENTS when we wish to search Exchange 2010 SP3 public folder content on Sharepoint 2013 Foundation.
    Quick briefing:
    Followed this instructions:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591608(v=office.15).aspx
    * Created CRAWL RULE
    - Used Domain Admin for content access ---> IS THIS WRONG?
    - Domain Admin can access public folder thru Outlook Web Access (checked)
    - Included all items in this path
    PRINTSCREEN 1
    * Added a content source for Exchange Server public folders
    - Logged to Outlook Web Access with domain admin, expanded Public folders and opened 1st subfolder in new window and copied the address
    - Logged to Outlook Web Access with domain admin, expanded Public folders and opened 2nd subfolder in new window and copied the address
    PRINTSCREEN2
    * Did a FULL CRAWL
    PROBLEM:
    - Search results does not throw "correct data". Some items are not being found
CRAWL LOG is reporting: Error while crawling LOB contents
    Detailed error message:
    https://mail.domain.com/OWA/?ae=Folder&id=PSF.LgAAAAAaRHOQqmYRzZvIAKoAL8RaAwAnt2ed15IATLg8XoXLNj4EAAAAXsN8AAAB&t=IPF.Note
    Error while crawling LOB contents.
    Error caused by exception: Microsoft.BusinessData.Infrastructure.BdcException
The shim execution failed unexpectedly - Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation..:
System.InvalidOperationException An internal server error occurred.
    Try again later.; SearchID = 4E8542D3-48EF-404E-8025-8D9AAEFE777A )
We thought it's a throttling issue / found possible solution:
    http://powersearching.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/exchange-public-folders-search-fail-error-while-crawling-lob-contents/
Tried it, still same Error messages, problem not resolved.
    Any hints? Please advise.
    With best regards
    bostjanc

    Hi Bostjan,
From the error message, the issue might be caused by throttling policy on Exchange side. And the article you posted provides the right solution, some modification to the solution and please try again.
    For throttling policy part
    1.Execute the command for Set-ThrottlingPolicy
Set-ThrottlingPolicy SharePoint -RCAMaxConcurrency Unlimited -EWSMaxConcurrency Unlimited -EWSMaxSubscriptions Unlimited -CPAMaxConcurrency Unlimited -EwsCutoffBalance Unlimited -EwsMaxBurst Unlimited -EwsRechargeRate Unlimited
2.Execute the command Get-ThrottlingPolicy SharePoint to double confirm the policy setting has been successfully executed
    For registry key part
    1. Start Registry Editor (regedit).
    2. Navigate to the following registry subkey:
    \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
    3. Right-click ParametersSystem, point to New, and then click Key.
A new key is created in the console tree.
    4. Rename the key MaxObjsPerMapiSession, and then press Enter.
    5. Right-click MaxObjsPerMapiSession, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
The new value is created in the result pane.
    6. Rename the key to <Object_type>, where <Object_type> is the name of the registry object type that you're modifying. For example, to modify the number of messages that can be opened, use objtMessage. Press Enter.
    7. Right-click the newly created key, and then click Modify.
    8. In the Value data box, type the number of objects that you want to limit this entry to, and then click OK. For example, type 350 to increase the value for the object.
    9. Restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.
If it still doesn’t help, please check ULS log for related error message.

    Hi,
The above error may occur when the federated built-in e-mail account that links to the computer account no longer exists or the federated built-in e-mail account in the Active Directory service is corrupted.
I recommend you follow the steps below for troubleshooting:
    1. Remove the FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 e-mail account by using the ADSIEdit tool.
    a. Run adsiedit.msc.
    b. Locate the Default Naming Context node, and then locate to the CN=Users container.
    c. Locate and then right-click the CN=FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 container. Then, click Delete.
2.Rerun the Exchange Server 2010 Mailbox role setup application.
3.Create a new federated e-mail account by using the following cmdlet:
    New-Mailbox -Arbitration -Name FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 -UserPrincipalName
    FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042@<Default_Accepted_Domain>
    Hope it helps.
