  • Hotmail on iPhone Or ipod touch mail app!!!

Hey people. Im only making this post to help people out. After a lot of research and a lucky unxpected find, i discovered a way to access your hotmail account on your maill.app
First you need to sign up for a GMX.com mail account (completely free, and EXCELLENT)
Then once inside, you need to add a mail collector account, suck as your hotmail
(The mail collector feature in GMX accesses your Hotmail account and downloads your email messages into the mail collector folder inside of your GMX mail account.)
(Inside the iphone mail app, once you set up your gmx account to work with it, you will have access to a folder that is named: "Mail Collector" and inside will be all of your hotmail emails.)
After you have signed up for a GMX email account, here is how to configure it with the Mail app:
    1. Under Settings, select "Mail", "Add Account", "Other", then "IMAP" or "POP" and use the following settings:
    Name: enter your name
Address: your full GMX email address
    Description: GMX
    Incoming Mail Server
Host Name: imap.gmx.com (when you're using IMAP) or
Host Name: pop.gmx.com (when you're using POP)
User Name: your full GMX email address
    Password: your GMX password
    Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name: mail.gmx.com
User Name: your full GMX email address
    Password: your GMX password
    Advanced
Use SSL: Off (SSL only works with incoming not going, but to be sure, turn it off for both)
    Authentication: Password (both incoming/outgoing)
Server port: 110 (incoming) and 25 (outgoing)
If you selected to use IMAP, you can map iPod Touch folders to GMX IMAP folders. Test first if the default mapping works before changing anything.
To change the mappings, got to Settings>Mail>GMX.
    - Select "Advanced"
    - Select "Drafts Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Drafts"
    c. Select "Sent Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Sent Mail"
    d. Select "Deleted Mailbox" and set it to "On the server > [GMX] Trash"
Click on "Advanced" each time to return to the prior menu after choosing a folder

It may have just been that this was the first sync. The messages are all there, but are in reverse order with the oldest message at the top of the stack. It is neither a small nor orderly stack. It may have been because it was the initial sync and this was the order that GMX pulled them from hotmail.
Then there is the lag. I guess that you, like me, tested this out by sending yourself some messages "just to make sure it worked". How long did you find the lag between sending something to hotmail and recieving it through GMX? Right now, I'm sitting on 15 minutes since I sent one and it still has not arived in the GMX collector.
Edit: Never mind on that last part. Seems Hotmail thinks something coming from my gmail account is spam. Twice. But not the ones for blue pills, lotteries from Europe, financially challenged nobility from African nations, or the young lady that wants to get to know me better if only I would stop by her site and see her new pictures.
    Thoughts?

  • IPod Touch Mail crashes after update 3.1.3

    Hi,
It seems that since we updated our iPods Touch (different ones, 2nd Generation) to software 3.1.3, Mail app stopped working. It opens for a few seconds then it crashes. I have reset one of the iPods completely and synced it again, and still the same behavior. Something curious is that I open Mail, delete some messages, it crashes, and Mail shows the same number of new messages, as if I hadn't deleted any, and upon opening the app, yes, there they are. Rest of iPods seem to be working fine.
An older iPod (1st gen) that we have not updated works just fine.
    Any clue or fix?
    Thanks

My iPod does the same, Initially Apple blame the ISP, after much discussion it seems that there is a problem with 3.1.3 but they are reluctant to admit it. Firstly be denying all knowledge of problem then by blaming others. I think the problem is too big for them to admit and they can't fix it in the short term. Some are re-installing old software from net to get over problem, but Apple won't support old software. If any one has found a solution please let me know.

  • IPod Touch Mail App not working

My family just had FiOS installed a couple days ago.  It's taken my brother and I a couple days to notice that the mail apps on our iPod Touches (which worked 100% with our old Verizon DSL) are no longer working (i.e. they are no longer pushing emails from our Yahoo and GMail accounts to the iPods).
I deleted my Yahoo account from my iPod and then tried to re-add it to see if that would fix things and the message I got from the iPod reads: "the imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field"  My brother's Touch gave him a different message regarding his Gmail account but he's not here at the moment for me to quote it directly.  Only via the wifi at work was I able to successfully re-add my Yahoo account to the iPod.  Now I'm back home again and when I try to refresh my inbox it's just "Checking for Mail..." indefinitely.
Note that it's only the mail app that is not functioning; all the other online functionality of the iPods (Safari, Youtube, weather app, iTunes) are working 100% with FiOS.  And as I mentioned above, the mail app worked today on the wifi at work.  It's only at home with the new FiOS that the mail app on my iPod stops working.
Any ideas?  Might there perhaps be something I can tinker with in the router settings?

Me again. I've discovered the mail app works when I set the firewall from maximum to typical. Is there any way to tell it to let it work on maximum?

  • IPod touch mail problem?

I recently reset the password for my Hotmail account and when I tried to check my mail on my iPod, which was already synced it asked for the new password and I entered it i got an error message saying "Unable to verify account information". I deleted the Hotmail account and tried to add again and I got the same message. I have entered the new password multiple times and I am ABSOLUTELY sure that I got it right. I have also added my email address multiple times and I'm sure that I've got that right too. I have reset the password once more and still have the same problem. I have an iPod touch 4th generation with iOS 5. What should I do? Any help will be most appreciated, thanks

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    If that didn't help try
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

  • IPod touch mail loading problem

I recently started using email on my iPod touch. At home, it works great. I just moved back to school, and the email application works great in my dorm as well. In any other building on campus, however, I am unable to load mail. I can use safari and any other app that requires internet, but the mail just will not load. Is here a reason this is happening everywhere on campus except for my dorm? Is there a way to fix this? Thank you!
    -Stephanie

you should check with your school's IT department. they may have certain ports blocked in various buildings preventing this. If this isn't the case, then they should be able to advise you how to fix this.
    Good Luck

  • IPod Touch mail & contacts

Ive just bought a new ipod touch for one of my children.  I have set it up on my itunes account, but want a seperate mail account (for facetime etc) how do I do this?
Also is it possible to have their own contacts as presently everytime it is synched mine are on it.

    - For FT (and Messages) see:
MacMost Now 653: Setting Up Multiple iOS Devices For Messages and FaceTime
    - Regarding contacts, you can't have different unique contacts for different users since the iPod is a single user device. However, she can create here own group of contacts and select in the Contacts app to only have that group show. She can use her Google contacts as her group.

  • IPod Touch Mail Question

Ok So I am thinking of getting an iPod touch and was wondering can I setup the mail feature so I can view my Yahoo mail account because this is my primary mail account?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. Go to settings, mail, add account, yahoo mail. Piece of cake.

  • Ipod Touch Mail:  How do you select all and delete?

    Hello,
I recently decided to start using the mail app on my Ipod Touch. I found the "edit" button for deleting emails, but can't figure out how to select all.
Can anyone tell me how to select all of the messages so i don't have to do it individually?
    Thanks

at 539 I would recommend doing that on your PC when you can. I do understand that it is a hassle when one has a full inbox to move/delete. Now if all of those were in the Trash bin then it is a different story.
    Good Luck.

So you can do it from a mac? while synced or something?
That was the 1st thing I tried, but I couldn't find the files to delete. I'll check it out again.
    Thanks for your help.

  • IPod Touch Mail app help

I have recently switched to google mail as Yahoo! Mail didn't work on my iPod Touch. However, google mail doesn't work either. First it tells me it can't work with the SSL port so I switched that off. Then, when it checks for new e-mail, it takes about one minute and then it just says that it can't connect to the server! Please can you advise me what to do.
    From andrew

Do you have a good WiFi connection when you are configuring the email? Have you tried just syncing the email settings with iTunes (Info tab).

  • IPod Touch Mail "Secure Connection Failed, The Certificate may be invalid"

I've setup my POP account 100% correctly on my iPod touch, at times it even downloads my e-mail into the iPod Touch as well, however everynow and then it will come up with the message "The certificate for "Mail Account" may be invalid" Then it just goes on to retrieve my e-mails when I select continue. Any ideas??

I called Apple support regarding this issue today and managed to get my problem resolved. When I went to add a new mail account it gave me the same error posted above... however, if you click "Continue" and wait about 2-3 minutes (yes, minutes) the iPod will come back and ask you if you want to try creating the mail account without SSL. Another window will come up after about 2 minutes confirming that it cannot create an account with SSL, and then prompt you again if you want to go ahead and create the non-SSL account. You click yes, wait ANOTHER 2 minute and voila. It jumps back to the main settings screen and you have a working mail account.
Their support representative said it sounded like they would be releasing a patch in the future to make this easier (and reduce the timeout for SSL testing so you don't have to wait so long).

  • Ipod touch Mail Blank Screen- can't access mail

    Hi,
When I try to open mail on my ipod touch, it opens a blank/black screen (still with the grey bar at the top with the time) but never comes up with the inbox or any menus to interact with (can't access my mail).
I recently added another imap account. Does it have troubles with too many messages or otherwise- surely it would say that rather than staying on a blank screen.
    Any thoughts?

Have you tried resetting your ipod by holding the Home & Sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo?

  • IPod Touch Mail holds on to my ISP's server

If I check for mail with my iPod Touch over in-home Wi-Fi (Charter is my ISP), after updating the Inbox and going on to another app, (or not), or even putting the iPod on standby, if I try to check for mail on desktop Macs with the same account on the same Wi-Fi network it appears the iPod Touch is still tying up the Charter server as the Macs can't receive mail and can only be liberated by a full shutdown of the iPod Touch. I can't find a setting either on the iPod or at the server to solve this. Is this "the way it is" or is there a fix?

Does your Charter email use pop or imap? This does sound very strange as an email server request is generally a short lived transmission. This sounds more like a router issue rather than an iPod/iMac problem.
While I was reading your question, I received an e-mail on my touch and, while reading it, the same e-mail also came into my iMac (pop account). This should be the way it works unless you have the touch set to delete the e-mail on the server. So your problem still sounds like a problem of your router not releasing the port used by e-mail. I would look for and install the latest router firmware update that is available for your router.

  • Ipod touch - mail - can I mark mail as junk?

new ipod touch user -- 4th gen -- can I mark mail messages as junk? thx.

Not unless the mail account you are using allows you to place the junk mail in a junk mail folder.  The Mail app has no filtering capibility
