Mailboxes keep emptying and refreshing

I am having a problem where my mailboxes keep coming up empty and then taking a long time to refresh (giving me the number of "incoming" messages that equals the entire content of my mailboxes). This happens for my icloud-based email (.mac) as well as gmail. Any ideas as to how to prevent? I am running the latest OS on a Macbook.

Still having mail problems. It seems to me that the Preferences, where I un/check the boxes for saving stuff on my server, is working backwards. If I uncheck them, I end up with more mailboxes, either under a folder called "IMAP Account" or in their own folders which have IMAP account in parenthesis afterwards. I try to delete these or use the "use this folder for..." option yet these extra folders/mailboxes keep coming back.

If you mean the iCloud tabs for your old Mac, these will normally be cleared after 14 days. Give it a couple of weeks and see if they don't disappear on their own.

"If you no longer have access to the device that shared the tab, the tab will automatically be cleared from the list after 14 days, if the tab is not updated."
Also, seeing the iCloud tab doesn't mean it's still signed into your account. It just means that the tab hasn't been cleared yet. If you completely erased it should no longer be signed into your account.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

10.6.6 (combo) Mailbox empty and won't get mail!

Ok, so I've read there's been some problems with this update - WISH i'd read in here first before I clicked the go ahead. However, I seem to have come up with something different to others. The App store appears to work and all my apps and documents are in their appropriate folders. What IS happening is this:
The mailbox is EMPTY. I click on it and it comes up with nothing in Inbox, sent, and junk. 120 in RSS (whatever that is) and only 2 on my mac. When I press Get mail NOTHING happens.
Please HELP!

It sounds as though it needs a service call.
You could try booting in safe mode (hold the shift key down and boot) - but it probably won't get that far.

Mailboxes STILL empty after importing from 10.3.9 to 10.4.11

Hi... I've been spending the last couple of days trawling the web (incl. this site) for solutions and have found similar postings, but they were either unresolved, or didn't really match my situation. So please excuse me if this is partially repetitive but hopefully someone can point me in a specific direction for resolution.
1) Under Mail 1.3.11 (Panther 10.3.9) I had stored several years of email (8+ GB... unfortunately my work requires me to keep everything) from 3 accounts - 1x IMAP, 2x POP. Most of my mail had been reorganised into various folders and mailboxes that contained a mixture of emails from all 3 source accounts. As far as I know, everything was healthy - no corruptions etc. except for the ubiquitous "not downloaded from server, take account online" problem.
2) When I transitioned to Mail 2.1.3 (Tiger 10.4.11) I used the Migration Assistant and got all my old Mail data over, changed all the file and folder permissions in olduser-Library-Mail to read and write, and used Import within Tiger Mail (and using the Other option as well). Everything seemed to move over into an Imported folder, and my hierarchy of subfolders remained correct, but all of them are empty.
3) Some suggestions I've found online have been to Rebuild the "empty" mailboxes/subfolders but the Rebuild option is grayed out whenever I select any mailbox/folder/subfolder.
4) There were some other suggestions to tinker with the insides of newuser-Library-Mail or olduser-Library-Mail but these were not for situations identical to mine so I'm hesitant to try for fear of making things worse.
5) For the moment, to continue working, I've set up a new account under Mail to fetch and send from my main IMAP account, but I don't have any of my old emails for reference ie. my new Tiger Mail has one mailbox (the Inbox) containing all my incoming mail from AFTER the upgrade... everything prior to that is on an external firewire drive that I can boot into (the old 10.3.9) as a reference backup. Curiously, eventhough I've set the new Tiger Mail to keep copies of outgoing mail, my Sent box remains empty and sometimes when I'm composing outgoing mail, I get a warning pop up about being unable to save into my IMAP outbox.
Do all of the above give any gurus out there a lightbulb moment as to what my problem might be and how I can solve it? Any help will be rewarded with eternal gratitude and my first grandchild. OK, maybe not the latter, but please help anyway!

No, Mail in 10.4 is not crap; it's actually better and more reliable than Mail in 10.5. So here's what I would do, though this will not preserve any folder hierarchy--you'd have to manually do that:
1. In your Panther Mail program, choose an account, a mailbox (Inbox for this example), and Select All messages in that mailbox.
2. Choose Save As… and choose Raw Message Source from the dialog window, then choose a destination (your Desktop) and save the file as Inbox.mbox.
3. After that file is saved, go to your Desktop and create two new folders: one named Inbox and the other named Mailbox.
4. Put the Inbox.mbox file inside the Mailbox folder, and the Mailbox folder inside the Inbox folder. Copy the nested folder/file to the Tiger machine if necessary so you can access it from Tiger Mail.
5. Open Tiger Mail, choose File >Import Mailboxes…, select Other from the list of import options, then navigate to the Inbox folder and select Choose. The file Inbox.mbox should appear in the window; click Continue and wait for the import to finish. You can then move the Inbox messages out of the Import folder to wherever you like in Tiger Mail.
6. Rinse and repeat for your other mailboxes, changing the names of nested folders/files as necessary.

My iphoto has 51 libraries and they keep increasing and i do not know why, i would like only one iphoto library and consolidate all photos in that.

If you're using an IMAP account, also check your other devices to be sure you don't have some filters or rules set up that either delete or move emails to subfolders. You can see all Emails on your iPad, but displaying the sidebar showing Mailboxes, tapping the email account you are having trouble with (NOT the Inbox, but the section below), then tapping All Mail or something similar depending on your provider.
If the mails are there, they are somehow being moved by one of your mail clients or by a rule you set up with your provider.

I restored my bookmarks from a resent .json file, but one folder is now empty and one is missing.

Because of reasons my computer needed to be refreshed. My old firefox profile folder was saved though, and with that the bookmarkbackups. As the title says I restored my bookmarks from a resent .json file, but one folder (containing probably about a hundred bookmarks) is now empty and one other is missing completely.
In some places I have a 5 levels deep folder structure for my bookmarks, but since the folders missing are from different levels I don't think this is the problem.
The now empty folder contained six or seven other folders, that in turn contained a lot of bookmarks with titles including non-alphanumerical characters. †?|&*()<-/., to be precise. However, if I restore a very old .json (from september 2013) the folders are present and contain the mentioned bookmarks - albeit much fewer, since the file is old. A few other bookmarks still present also contain the mentioned characters, so this is probably not the problem either.
The folder that is completely missing just contained a lot of bookmarks that were to be sorted.
When opening the more recent .json files (I have a whole month of automatic backups to choose from) in the firefox scratchpad it would seem that the bookmarks are missing alltogether, so I suppose that there is not much to do about it (please correct me if I'm wrong), but I definitely want to report the bug.
Is there anything at all to do about it?

If the bookmarks aren't present in the JSON backup then it is likely that you got a corrupted places.sqlite file at some time that caused the backup not working properly.
Did you try all the backups?
Note that the xxxx part of the bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx.json file name shows the number of bookmarks in the file.

I have two mailboxes. My Yahoo mailboxe keep telling me I have the wrong password and the mailbox ap keeps popping up. I believe this is then screwing up my Outlook mailbox which is my work email account. I had it configured fine and then upgrade to Lion. Since upgrading my mailboxes are challenging to keep up and running. Also, when I log in several of my programs autimatically pop up (NEAT, iTunes,etc), kind of like all the ads did when I was using MS. Any ideas of why this is happening? Is it a Lion issue? What can I do to fix?

regarding your issue lets see what we can do to solve this issue.
- have you tried safe boot
safe boot = starting up the mac with the SHIFT- button.
- when entering safe mode you will be able to enter and quick change some settings
now next question do the unwanted aplications still load in safe mode , if so
go to the Apple icon -> System preferences -> user & groups -> login items (top right on the screen from user & groups window) now at login items u can close any unwanted aplications by deleting them or unmarking them
- unwanted aplications will now disapear when starting up your mac os x system
- next issue should be your authentication , this will be a bit more tricky , lets see
same category user & groups and u will see your admin account try seeing if u have enabled the admin account right click on your admin account to see information about it and compare it if your info is correct , next see if you have authorized your admin account to write & read.
if these still don't work , make a test account to see if this problem is user wide or system wide.

Selection String Empty when Refresh Report

I'm using CR2008 in VS 2008 (WinForms not Web). This seems like a fairly easy thing to do (was in VB6/CR8.5).
My program provides a list of reports via the FileDialog, grabs the report name, loads the report document with the report, then the viewer displays the report. Everything works great to that point, but then the user refreshes the report and the selection string is changed to "" (empty) and all records from the table are displayed. Is there something that I'm missing here?
I have tried both 8.5 and CR2008 reports with the same results. The login seems to be working fine.
Any help would be appreciated,

This application does nothing but allow the user to select a report from a shared folder on our company server and display. The report comes in with the correct selection string but with "old" data. When the refresh button is pressed from the CR Viewer the selection changes to an empty string, therefore, displaying all records in the database table.
The report that I'm currently trying to display has no parameter fields. The selection string in the report is:
{table.amt} > 0.00 and {table.paid} <> "y"
So do I need to save this selection string and set it each time the user presses REFRESH? What happens when I move to a report that has parameters?
I'm still reading microsoft help for VS2008/CR2008 but haven't found anything yet. Not to say that I didn't miss a step here or there. The only other thing that I noticed was a setting on the reportDocument called ReportAppServer which was set to <EMBEDDED_REPORT_ENGINE>. I have been trying to locate information on this setting but there are no other options on the properties screen. Could this be part of my problem? I pulled the reportDocument from the toolbox onto the windows form.
I did not have a problem with this in the old VB6/CR8.5 viewer that I'll be replacing over the next few months as I move from VB6/CR8.5 to VS2008/CR2008.

Mail pinwheel just keeps going and going

After sending an email to hotmail.com the Mail pinwheel just keeps going and going and I keep receiving these massages (Delivery Status Notification (Failure)) with the same date and time. I delete them and they just keep on piling in the trash folder untill I decide to Delete them.
Text in the messages says:
The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable'

If they have already been removed from the server, you may be able to get rid of those messages in Mail doing Edit > Cut (⌘X) (for best results do it with one message or just a few at a time).
If the problems persist, you’ll have to get rid of the *.emlx files associated with the offending messages and re-create the index.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), here are two alternative procedures that should allow you to fix the problem. Let me know which do you find more convenient and/or works better for you:

1. Select the offending messages in Mail.
2. Copy the following script, open /Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor, paste the script there, and click Run:

7. Locate the offending *.emlx files within INBOX.mbox’s Messages folder and move them out of there, e.g. to the Desktop. You can open the *.emlx files with a text editor to view their contents and check that they do indeed correspond to the offending messages before getting rid of them.
8. Go back to ~/Library/Mail/, locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
9. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it's “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.

4. Select the affected account’s Inbox in Mail, then select all the messages it contains (Edit > Select All (⌘A)) and deselect the offending messages by Command-clicking (⌘-click) on them. That is, select all the messages in the mailbox except the offending ones.
5. Do Message > Move To, and select the mailbox created is step 3. That is, move to another mailbox all the messages that should be preserved and that are stored in the same mailbox as the offending ones.
6. Quit Mail.
7. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
8. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/. Move INBOX.mbox and Deleted Messages.mbox to the Trash.

Creative Cloud Desktop keeps empty

after several test the Creative Cloud Desktop app keep empty. (Picture below)
I' am using W7 Pro 64-bit
I´have tried updating Air and Flashplayer to latest edition (same result)
Tried the installation as Administrator (same result)
Deactivated the antivirus and Firewall (same result)

Hi there, Windows 8.1 keeps crashing and re-starting on my Asus laptop. The problem is getting worse and worse to the extent that it is happening every 15 minutes or so. I have run all the windows troublshooting applications via my control panel and carried
out various virus checks and system cleaners.
