Mailed back a new iphone. what will happen next?

I ordered a new unlocked iphone trough the Apple store, but it arrived damaged. The outside had everything ok, but as soon as I grabbed it I noticed that there was something loose inside the phone it also made noises. So I returned it back in to the box and mailed it back. It’s been a week since I returned it and I haven´t received any mails. Also there was no charge in my credit card. Will I get a new iphone or what will happen?

You did call the Apple Store and get an RMA number before you sent it back?

Highly unlikely that it says any such thing.
Try telling us exactly what version of iTunes is installed and what if any messages appears when trying to update it.
What Operating System is the computer running?

I am thinking of exchanging my 2 week old ipod for a new one b/c it has frozen 3 times already, althougth it has been easily reset. The store people ( circuit city) reccomended that I do so. What will happen when I plug in my new ipod to the itunes software and library currently on my computer? Do I have to uninstall the ipod? I can't uninstall itunes b/c I have 15 movies I just paid for in thr library. Thanks for any advice.

plug in the new ipod and it will sync your information..you do not have to uninstall the old ipod. its pretty simple.

  • If I restore my iPhone as a new iPhone, what will be saved?

Supposing I log into the same iCloud account,  what will transfer to a 'new device' restore?
specifically, contacts, calendar, saved passwords in keychain, known wifi networks are what I am wondering about.
    Thank you

If you restore as new and add back what you sync with icloud - then that is what will come back to your phone.

  • So I've bought a new pc and have HomeShared all my music/apps from the old to the new iTunes.  When I plug my phone into the new computer, what will happen?  I just want to be sure my contacts/calenders will be the same.  What about the music/apps?

I have no problem resorting the apps and losing the playlists from the other iTunes.  I just want to be sure nothing will be lost.

I would suggest backing up your iphone before doing anything. You can do that by right-clicking on the name of your iphone from the source list on the left side of itunes.
    I hope this helps!

  • After you have reset your new iphone, what is the next step to applying the previous back up from the old one?

Essentially I have a new iPhone and I've done the reset according to your instructions on your site.  How do I apply the latest back up from my previous phone so that I can have all of the content, the back up and everything that was connected to the iCloud?

Also understand that iCloud and iTunes backup different things - iCloud really only the "essentials". Read more here:

  • So Apple is making it too hard to buy the new iphone, what is the next best

The nearest apple store is about an hour and a half away for me. I'm told that to get a 3G I should show up at the store at around 7:00 a.m.
WHAT? Apple thinks that they can treat longtime customers like this? I am appalled!
I have already waited weeks to let the buzz die down a bit, But this is just nuts.
My Dumb phone is dying, and I will soon buy a new phone, I wanted it to be the new iphone but I don't think that I will risk the gas and time to drive that far with a maybe.
What do you think is the next best choice and why?

The fact that I have spent my money on over a dozen Apple computers over the years sure should matter to them. But no, the other people should get good service also!
I'm a little confused. Why do you think you're getting bad service and being treated badly at all because they recommended you come early to get the phone? The iPhone is a very popular item. A lot of people want it, and the phones are being made quickly and shipped out by the boatload to stores around the world. Apple has started opening their stores at 8am (that's two hours earlier) in order to help with demand, to make sure there is more store time to serve all the customers (is that not good service?).
If the store is a first-come-first-serve situation, then you're being given exactly the same service as all other customers, and it's not bad service. It's just the best they can manage given the huge demand for this product. If you were running the store, what would you do? Ask everyone who called to bring all receipts to show how much they've spent at the store and the ones who spend the most get to come in first and get the iPhones while the rest wait? I mean, it'd be nice if all Apple stores treated everyone like kings: "Hello, sir, there's 500 people in the store buying iPhones, but we STILL have one for you, and a private table over there to fill out all AT&T forms. Would you like someone to wave a peacock fan over your head so you don't get hot? Come right this way...espresso?"
I don't think they have enough employees or room for that. Not to mention iPhones.
Now some stores have allowed customers to reserve phones. You might talk to your store manager, discuss your situation (the long drive) and see if this can be done.

  • Re:what will happen next?

well heres the next update in my bt broadband soap opera, see page 27 for the first installment
3 weeks after the instalation date still no broadband so a BT engineer was booked to visit us on saturday in the 8am-1pm 'morning slot'
so i stay in all saturday morning while my six month pregnant wife does a few errands pops to the bank etc, you know how it is im jumping at the window like an excited puppy every time a van drives past, until 1pm when no engineer has arrived,
so i ring BT, half on hour on the phone- mostly on hold i get told the guy is late and will be there at 3pm
so i wait another 3 hours, my 6 month pregnant wife now has to go do the shopping on her own too
at 3pm when i call BT again (half an hour on hold) and its 'oh sorry there was an error on our system no appointment was made for your engineer' but we will call back shortly to let you know whats happening
6pm no call back so i ring and this time its 'yes the engineer did come but was fixing things outside your proerty so he didnt need to come in, your broadband should be fixed now'
either way i have no broadband
i have wasted my entire day off waiting for an engineer
BT never called me to tell me what was going on,
it took me 3 tedious callcentre on hold phone calls to be given 3 DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF EVENTS
    was my engineer late?
    was my appointment cancelled?
did the engineer actually come but not enter the proerty?
how about you organise a poll for that BT

  • If i download itunes 11 what will happen to my current itunes?

I just got an Ipad and am being told that ITunes 10 is not compatible. It wont allow me to upgrade ITunes, and says I must download newer version. If I download the newer version what will happen to my current ITunes? Will the music files be automatically transfered?

    Possibly nothing
    Make a backup before upgrading.

I never used icloud before so there is no data to back up from. I just spoke  to the apple store and they said that if I do plug it in, all the data will be swiped....is there a program I can use to transfer my data from my phone to computer without loosing it all ???

  • What will happen if I restore my iPhone if it hasnt let me back it up?

I tried to back-up my iPhone 3gs but a message came up saying it needed to be updated first. I updated it and now there is a message on the phone screen saying that i need to connect to itunes, however when i try this, its telling me I need to restore my iPhone first. What will happen if I restore it with no way of knowing whether its backed up or not.
    Thank you
    Panicking!!!!!

Download iTunes into your computer/laptop.  Upon iTunes completion, connect your iPhone 3Gs to your computer via USB port.  Wait for a minute or 2.  iTunes would automatically backup your iPhone without you doing anything. Make sure you're connected to WIFI.
    Good luck

So what I have gleemed from this thread - is that Apple will not help me if an iPad mini is dropped and the screen breaks.  I would have lived without the insurance if I could have simply bought a new screen and then had it replaced by Apple.
On something so fragile I would have expected a piece of glass to be a replacement part. But I am glad I made this post because now I no for sure if I break the screen there is no way to have it fixed by Apple and keep it in Warranty.
Yup, kind of like anything else you accidentally break that is more cost effective to replace than to repair. Keep that iPad away from the toddler

  • What will happen if i set as new iphone?

my brother's iphone is already registered to the laptop. I planned to attach my iphone to his itunes. it was said that if i could set as new iphone. what would possibly happen?

Each device can only sync with one iTunes library - and that content of the iTunes library will sync.
If you decide to change the iTunes library the phone was orginially synced with, it will erase the 'sync' data and re-sync with the new library.
    The phone itself isn't erased.
For example, If I only sync Music, if I change iTunes library, it would erase my Music, and re-sync with the new Music from the new iTunes Library.
    Hope that helps
