Mailing PDF documents

I have large photo/text documents that were created on Pages, saved to PDF and sent by e-mail to another Mac that has PDF but not Pages. The files could not be printed. Placed in Word the configuration changes. Any ideas how to mail these?

Thanks, Ernie for your help on this. However I couldn't get your method to work. I did find it by going to File>Get Info> and then clicking the box to Show/Hide extensions. I haven't tried a test, but am confident that now I know when there are extensions, I can do something about them. About the large files: I didn't realize that large files can't be mailed and that there was a limit to what can be sent. That solves some of my questions and problems right there.
How do people send photo files then?

We got complain from our Exchange admin that the SAP users generate always big attached pdf files in the mails.
With the ZPDF1 device type and host spool access method M:E-Mail to Receiver/Owner users are sending there purchase orders and ...
Can I change some sething to decrease the pdf files that are sending via this method?

Did you checked the following SAP Notes:
322998 - PDF conversion: Cyrillic support
163266 - PDF conversion: character set for softfonts
As stated in the Note kindly check the following:
Use of soft fonts in PDF files:
At the moment, the only known solution for this problem is the use of
ISO 8859-5 soft fonts, that is font definitions which are imported into
the R/3 system with report RSTXPDF2 and which contain Cyrillic letters
as well as all other characters contained in the ISO 8859-5 font. Then,
these soft fonts are inserted in the PDF file by the PDF converter
during the conversion of a SAPscript document which uses character set
ISO 8859-5.
Caution: This way the generated PDF files become significantly larger,
since for each used font (for example COURCYR normal and HELVCYR bold) a
complete font definition must be included ("embedded font").
I would suggest you to check the above mentioned SAP Notes and its referenced Notes in detail.

4500 envy cuts off right hand side of pdf document when I print to letter size paper

This is a new printer for me. It is connected to my laptop with a USB cord. I am attempting to print an e-mailed PDF document . When I preview, I see that the right-hand side of the document is cut off by more than an inch. How do I get the printer to format the document to fit on letter-sized paper? Reducing the document size to under 100 % does not help.

When I open a pdf document from my dropbox to view it, the document shows up blank, even though it is filled out. This also happened with pdf documents that have been e-mailed to me.

When I open emails with PDFs I click on the attachment (doing this all on my iPad) it gives me the option to "open in iBooks", I accept then after that the document is sucked into my iPad but I can't do anything with the PDF after that. Where is the actual file on my iPad? Why can't I email or send these PDFs to my cloud (Dropbox)?
It's like once they go into iBooks they're stuck forever.

Using your example and not modifying it, I get the e-mail form filled out correctly and the pdf attached, however, I'm not prompted to sign it.

E-mail a Single Page from a PDF document.

How do you e-mail a single page from a PDF document that has multiple pages? When I go to File > Attach E-mail in Adobe it e-mails the whole document and I do not want that. I just want to e-mail selected pages and not the whole document. How can I do that in Adobe Acrobat?
I have Adobe Acrobat Standard version 8, Windows XP Professional SP3.

You need to extract it first as a new PDF. You can do so using Document - Extract pages...

Can't mail a pdf document

Hi all,
I have a little bit annoying problem which occurred in a couple of days. What is the problem: we have an internal web site where people upload some pdf files and other users work on them. One user has the following problem: when he opens a pdf from the web site using Mozilla it opens his Acrobat XI Standard. He modified the file the try to send it. Unfortunately it hanged. I've tried to change the option for pdf document to be opened with Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) but it didn't work. When I made a test on another workstation with 35.0.1 version and Acrobat XI Pro the default option is Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) but when you open the file there is no "send to mail" option only print or save. To be sure I've saved the file to the desktop, opened again with Acrobat XI Standard and send to mail option worked like a charm. That's why i decided to ask here for a help. If you have any idea please share with me. Thanks in advance

Exist any FM? How to make compatible this new binary file with the parameter of the method?

I need help with this one.
I'm Mail Merging over 300 letters and each letter has seven pages. What I'm currently doing is mail merging from Excel to Word then printing it into a single PDF document. Once printed, I select each seven pages and then reprinting in PDF with the name its intended for? This is very time consuming and hoping there is an easier way.
Is there a way to save each individual PDF documents (each letter) and have them labeled by a specific name listed on the letter intended for (eg: surname) without going through this lengthy process.

I've developed a tool that will allow you to extract each group of 7 pages
into a single file with just a few clicks. See:

However, the file names of the generated files will be generic. If you want
to use some text from the pages themselves in the file names, that might be

Is this an actual field, or just some piece of static text somewhere? Either way, you can't do it using the Split Document command. You'll need to use a custom-made script to read the value of this "field" and use it when extracting pages from the file.

Reducing pdf size: How can I reduce a pdf document for MAIL?

I am having trouble getting a mail pdf attachment to be accepted by my server. I am looking for a way to reduce the digital size of the pdf (report) so that it will be a size acceptable to my server (tds). How can that be done? What steps should I take?

The Quartz Filter in Finder might help.
Open the pdf file in Preview.
Then File, Save As, (Format PDF) checkmark the Quartz Filter, and select Reduce File Size.
In my test example, a 4 page .pdf file of a newspaper article including lots of text and two large color photos was reduced from 573KB to 147KB.
But do test the results first, by giving the test file a new name instead of saving 'over' the original.
The text remained sharp, but the included photos became noticably pixelated at 100% size.

Sharing a PDF document by e-mail using Outlook

I'm using a Windows Surface Pro and the standard app (Windows Reader) for PDF documents. When I click share to e-mail a document, it opens the Windows Mail app. The problem is that I want this to open Outlook instead of the Windows Mail app. Is this
possible and how do I configure this?

I check the reader app in Windows Store, but cannot find a way to change the default mail setting. it would choose the Windows Store App by default:
1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
2. Tap or click Search and apps, and then tap or click Share.

Protect a pdf document then e-mail it

I have a pdf document that i need to e-mail but I blacked out some information that I do not want seen. I need it viewable by the recipient but with the blacked area they can't reverse.
Should be simple but I can't find it in the dcoumentation that came with Acrobat 9 Pro

There are two types of password with respect to standard security. One protects the file from certain types of changes or limits functionality (like printing), the other is used to open the document. You do not need to specify an open document password, but it does provide real security by encrypting the contents.
The password that restricts editing cannot properly be considered secure, since it is up to the software that reads the PDF to honor the restrictions. Software such as Acrobat and Reader do honor such restrictions, but other third-party software does not.
Again, if you need to redact sensitive information from a PDF securely, be sure to use Acrobat's redaction tools.
