Mails between domains

Hi,
We have a scenerio where we are to use different domains for every new env we create. So using Collabsuite, is it possible to mail from [email protected] to [email protected] ?
I have created xyz in the domain env1 and abc in domain env2, but when I use web client to mail from one to another, the mail is simply lost !
Any pointers as to where/how I can trace this if it is possible to mail between domains.

That's not a problem, just verify the domains and set the domain purpose as Exchange Online. As those will be in the same Exchange organization, there is no need to configure anything else in order to be able to share calendar or contact information between
users.

Communication issues between domain controllers

Hi everyone,
I am experiencing some problems in communication between domain controllers in our organization
We have three domain controllers, one of them is a Windows 2003 server service pack 2 which is physical (controller A), another which is Windows 2008 Service Pack 2 (controller B), also physical, and a third one (controller C) which is a Windows 2008
service pack 1 and is virtual.
I have problems with this last DC, it won't respond to pings, or DNS query. I can't Access it by remote desktop client even when it is enabled. I cannot update it, it prompts error messages if I try to do so.
This problems are solved if I reboot it, it will work fine some hours or days, but not much longer. I have checked event viewer and I didn't found any message about this.
I read some time ago it would be great to have a DC in a virtual machine, so I did it, but is it right?
Do you know what might be going on with it? would depromoting it and seting it up again the best solución?

This sounds like a NIC issue, which is odd since it is a virtual machine. Have you checked the host for any logs about the client?
I think the first thing I would do is destroy the current virtual NIC card and add a new one. Since this has nothing to do with Active Directory I would also suggest you post this in a forum of for the Host (VMWare or Hyper-V).

Migrate servers between domains

Hello
We need to plan an AD domain migration to an already existing domain - i.e. not a new domain - for dozens of servers hosting different roles and am looking for some general pointers for what we should be aware of.
We cannot use ADMT (for internal political reasons) and cannot use external tools, e.g. Quest (for cost reasons)
The roles on the servers include:
Domain controllers, IIS, SQL, CRM, VMWare Virtual Center - plus other bespoke applications.
I know there will NOT be a "one size fits all" process for every server (or even every application) but was hoping someone could provide general information for the apps mentioned above.
e.g. should we not even consider moving the server(s) between domains but rather build a new server and reinstall the application ? If rebuilding a server is NOT an option for any reason, CAN we move the application server(s) to the
other domain without issues ?
I realise this is a very complex set of tasks but, as I said, just looking for some general information to give us a starting point.

It depends on your authentication and permission model. Where are the users and groups? ACL on these servers from a different domain?

Problem creating external trust between domains

Hello,
When I try to create one-way incoming external trust between 2 domains (to DomainA from DomainB) in separate forests I get this info:
This domain already has a one-way trust relationshp with specified domain.
But I cannot see it on the list of trusts either incoming or outgoing (in both domains).
For sure trust was never setup before.
In DomainA there are several other external not transitive trusts with other domains. But for sure DomainB do not have any incoming or outgoing trusts on list. Name resolution betwen domains is OK. I can ping domain name on both sides.
Any help is welcome.

Were there error events logged in Event Viewer? Besides, did we open necessary firewall ports for creating external trust?

Bug: _global vars between domains

Hey
I submitted a bug report on _global variables, and i just
wanted to hear your opinions.
Scenario 1
1. MovieA loads MovieB from SAME domain
2 Both MovieA and MovieB contain a _global variable
Comclusion/Result:
Both MovieA and Movie B adapts the _global variables
Scenario 2
1. MovieA loads MovieB from DIFFERENT domain
2. Both MovieA and MovieB uses
System.security.allowDomain("*")
3. Both MovieA and MovieB contains a _global variable
Comclusion/Result:
Both MovieA and MovieB CAN NOT access/read eachothers _global
variable.
The help file says:

I clearly read that as , you should be able to control the

Check the rest of the doc to know how to configure each type, and apply the one that matches your case..

ACCESS DATA BETWEEN DOMAINS

Good day!! Sorry if it isn't the right translation, but I try to get some codes for my patients in a web page of an Insurance company, but at the end of the process, after hitting the GENERATE CODE button, appears the messsage (ment for Windows, I suppose): "go to the section about HAVING ACCESS TO DATA ORIGIN BETWEEN DOMAINS", or so..

See if you'd said it works with windows . . . try changing the user agent by using the Develop menu in Safari, pick some Windows agent, and see if that works. In Safari's preferences, check the show develop menu under advanced. If that doesn't work, then you'll need a windows computer to do this work or you'll need to talk to the people running the system to get them to fix the problem.

Synchronize mail between computers

Is there a way to synchronize mail between my main computer and my laptop. So If I read messages on one computer, the other will also appear as if I read it. Both computers are running latest OS. Thanks for any help.

Comcast does not provide an IMAP type account - you can access your Comcast email account as a POP type account only.
Is your old Mac running Tiger? If not, you can't transfer the Mail folder from a Mac running Jaguar or Panther to a Mac running Tiger since the mailbox format used by Tiger Mail is significantly different than the mailbox format used by Jaguar and Panther Mail.
If both Macs are running Tiger, you need to transfer the Mail folder and the Mail.app preference file from the old Mac to the new.
I used the Migration Assistant to transfer everything from a Mac running Tiger to a new Mac with Tiger pre-installed without any problems but the Migration Assistant should have worked regardless.
If both Macs are connected in some fashion, you can use the Import Mailboxes feature with the Mail.app on the new Mac to import all mailboxes from the Mail folder on the old Mac.

An IMAP type account is beneficial when accessing the same account with an email client on multiple computers. In addition to the account's Inbox mailbox, you can also store Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server with the email client on multiple computers so all account mailboxes/messages stored on the server are kept synchronized with the server by the email client used on each computer. When a received message is marked as read with the email client used on one computer, the message will be marked as read when the account is checked with the email client used on a different computer. You can also create additional server stored mailboxes to sort/store selected messages by category on the server and all messages in any user created server stored messages will be available and kept synchronized with the email client used on each computer.
None of this is available with a POP type account which is primarily designed to be accessed with one computer only.
An Apple .Mac account can be accessed as an IMAP or POP type account but most internet service providers such as Comcast support POP type accounts only.

Not syncing mail between iMac, iPhone, iCloud

I'm not syncing mail between devices.
Email sent with iMac doesn't show on iPhone (and vice versa).
No mail sent with either iMac or iPhone is showing on iCloud.
Please help!

AFTER I asked the question, then the answer presented itself in a list of previously asked questions! (And I had looked before too.) It involves "Signing Out" of iCloud with the iMac, and with the iPhone. Then I signed in again. It was scary (took a long time) getting the mail loaded again, but it seems to be working now.

Sending e-mails between different SAP-Systems with SMTP

Hi Christoph,
but it is possible that the email for user from System B is also available in the system itself(transaction so01) and not only in his outlook inbox?
As the email is sent from System A. It will be available under SOST of system A.
As user in System B is receiving the email, it will be appearing in users inbox.
Check with Mail server administrator on where to enable SMTP relaying for IP address of SAP server.

Lost all mail between certain dates

I've lost all my mail between September 30 and January 14 in the in box and the sent mail.
This is across the 3 accounts I have set up.
The trash box holds nothing prior to January 14th.
All very confusing, and even more annoying. Any of you smart people got any idea what could be causing this, or more importantly how I could retrieve the files.

Let's force an overall reindexing via the removal of the Envelope Index since you say it is spread across all accounts. Note the special instructions when forcing the reindexing of IMAP or Exchange accounts in the following:

This will force the reindexing of all the POP mailboxes and any On My Mac mailboxes. With regard to the IMAP account, the practical result of this action of removing the account folder, is that with the IMAP account still set up in the Preferences, Mail will connect to the IMAP server and create a new account folder, and while doing so will index the messages in the mailbox folders of the IMAP account on the server. Not removing the IMAP account folders when removing the Envelope Index file may lead to strange results -- have you by any chance ever forced a reindexing by removing the Envelope Index? This could have happened if you ever used a suggestion to remove all files except folders to cure a problem some people encountered when upgrading to 10.5.6 from 10.4.11 (was not the preferred solution however.
May I assume that all standard mailboxes related to the IMAP account are stored on the server, as would be normal?

Problems with Syncing Mail between iPad and MacBook

The mail between my iPod Touch and MacBook used to sync themselves perfectly. If I got a piece of mail on one device and looked at it or deleted it, it wouldn't show up on the other device. It was like both devices could access the same mailbox and not confuse messages with one another. I loved that!!
This is not the case with my iPad. I'll get a piece of mail on my iPad, open it and/or archive it, and then it'll show up on my MacBook's mail as a brand new, unopened message...
How can I fix this? Surely there must be some sort of solution...
If it matters, this is a GMail account, and I'm using an iPad 2 (16 GB, WiFi)

I think i have found how to solve the problem. I went into address book preferences and i noticed i didn't have icloud enabled here. As long as i use icloud contacts rather than 'on my mac' contacts it now seems to delete and add across the 2 devices. Many thanks

Mail Setup - Domain Name vs. Host Name

I tried to search for this one, but the terms are so common that it made things a little difficult. Anyways, it's a simple question (I think):
My mail service is working fine, however I just noticed that in server admin (under Mail), the domain name is set as mail.mydomain.com and the host name is set to mydomain.com. That's counter to my understanding of what should be in those fields (it should be the reverse, if my understanding of the relevant terms is correct). However, when I tried to switch them I get the following error, albeit only when I try to send mail from one domain hosted on this machine to another domain hosted on the same machine:
mail for mydomain.com loops back to myself.
Any ideas?

You are correct, it should be the other way around.
That said, there is a bug in Server Admin. It will sometimes not correctly references the domain name portion in the mydestination parameter in /etc/postfix/main.cf.
So while it would be a good idea to swap things, you will need to also add the domain name as a local host alias in Server Admin to get mail going again.

Sync Mail between multiple devices

Can anyone help? I own a MacBook Pro, an iMac, an iPhone, and iPad. I have managed to sync mail between the iPhone and the iPad using Microsoft exchange, so that if I delete an e-mail on the phone or the iPad then it is deleted on the other.
However I can't sync the two computers in the same way, can anyone help and tell me how to sync Mail across all 4 units?
(I used Exchange because the e-mail account is a Hotmail account and I was told, that's the only way I can do it).

Microsoft publish the settings needed for Hotmail Imap, they work, use them.
They are:
For incoming connections:
Server address: "imap-mail.outlook.com"
Server port: "993"
Encryption type: "SSL"
For outgoing connections:
Server address: "smtp-mail.outlook.com"
Server port: "587"
Encryption type: "TLS" ("SSL" can be used if TLS is not an option)

Sync Mail between 2 mac's

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to sync Mail between my two mac's? Using .mac or some other avenue? I am not only using .mac email but also a POP server and g-mail. thanks!

To sync mail between two macs (also with the web browser and iPhone) yo need to set up the email accounts using IMAP. .Mac is automatically set up as IMAP. For gmail account the setup instruction can be found at

For POP server sync is not possible, you simply can read your email within an email client. Check with your email server, if they offer any IMAP access by any chance.
