Main Account Invisible to other users on network

When other users on my network try to connect to my computer my main (administrator) account does not show in the 'volumes' box but other accounts on my computer do.
I have tried all preferences etc. but am unable to make my my main account visible.
Any suggestions please.

I have reset permissions in 'others' box at bottom of home 'get info' panel and my account is now visible to other computers.

I have an icloud account with two other users besides myself.  We share the same game center.  We want our own. My two children want their own Clash of Clans account!  What do I do?

Log out of Gamecenter and try downloading CoC again. if it doesn't prompt you with a new village, try downloading with a different apple id. if that doesn't work, you would need a new device to create a new village and transferring it to your sons device using the code in the CoC settings.

  • COREid Administrator account cannot add other users

I'm brand new to this product (and to LDAP), so please bear with me...
After installing COREid, I cannot add new users using the admin account I established during installation. I get "You do not have sufficient access rights". I can perform other admin tasks, such as assigning "Master Identity Administrator" role to another existing user. I verified that my admin is also a "Master Identity Administrator". I'm using Sun One Directory Server as my back-end LDAP server. I also verified that the COREid admin account can add other users directly to the LDAP store through the Sun admin console.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • How to make InDesign CS5 documents lock to other users on network when open

We have multiple users using InDesign CS5 across our network.  In InDesign CS4 when one person had a page open, it was locked to any other users, but in CS5 the pages are not locked, and this causes changes not to be saved.  We want them to lock, any suggestions?

We have a mac environment, with a mac server.  Editorial dept. opens the pages to put stories on, and at different times another dept. needs the pages to put ads on the page. We all use InDesign CS5. When any dept has a page open, it does show the .idlk file, but still allows another user to open the document.  However, once in a while,  it locks it and doesn't let anyone else open it, which is what we want.  This all worked in InDesign 4,  it started when we upgraded to CS5.  We aren't doing anything out of the ordinary.

  • "Unexpectedly quits" on ADMIN account, works on other USER account!

Installed CS3 on Mac OS 10.4.11 (tiger). "Unexpectedly quits" on administrator account after bouncing in dock, but all CS3 programs work on my other user account.
After uninstalling CS3, emptying the cache, and confirming there was no CS3, or previous versions on my hard drive, I still can't get it to work. However I was able to get the other user account to run the programs after I installed it a second time. Also, installed all updates on computer and updates to CS3.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

It could be a preference file problem (try to download Preferential
Treatments) to look for a corrupt preference file or it could be a font

  • Create table - invisible to other users

    Hi,
i'm using Oracle XE 10g, and I have a following problem:
when I log in as "user1" and create a table (create table test ...) then I don't see this table when logged as "user2"... Both users have same access rights. What is wrong? I am beginner in Oracle, I've used MySQL before, and this works without problems...
    thanks
    Jiri Matejka

USER2 needs select rights on the test table owned by USER1. In order for USER2 to be able access the table owned by USER1 the USER1 name needs to be added to the table name, example USER1.TEST. A synonym can be created to remove that need.

  • How to keep a printer invisible to other part of network

I share a cable modem line with a suite mate (professional office). my equipment is plugged into my switch, and the switch is also receiving a feed from the cable modem. When my suite-mate had someone print some work, that work went to my printer instead of the suite-mate's printer. How do I make sure that my printer never appears as an available option? I am using Mac OS 10.7.5 and the suite-mate is using Windows XP through WIndows 8. In fact, this situation is a cause for concern, because we both need to assure that no other parties can wander into and through our files. This isn't the first time this has happened.

At its simplest, you'll partition your network.  That can be via a managed switch with vLAN support, or by connecting up an IP router which will inherently block the typical Bonjour traffic — which is likely how the printer is being detected here — or via a firewall connected at the cable modem and particularly that has support for multiple network segments and run those to the different areas (which will keep the networks quite separate).
Of these, the latter probably most closely meets your needs; the firewall.  Particularly because that can be configured to block other traffic between the LANs; more than just the Bonjour chatter will be blocked.  Locally, I'm using various ZyXEL ZYWALL USG series firewalls, which does have support for multiple local networks (two LANs plus a DMZ are common on various of the low- to mid-range models).  (I've not tried the USG without NAT, but the device does have options to do that.)
You don't want to have two devices both doing NAT here, so either disable NAT at the cable modem and use a firewall that does NAT, or — if you can't switch the cable modem into its bridge mode, or the modem doesn't support bridging — then you'll have to avoid allowing any NAT at your firewall.

  • Iphoto doesn't show photos in other user-account

    Hi,
I have the iPhoto-Lib in the public folder of my user-account. All other users have full access to this folder and subfolder. When another user logs in and opens iphoto (no other user has iphoto open) it shows the preview off all pictures. He can open older pictures by double click. Newer Photos are not shown after double click. An triangle with exclamation mark shows up shortly after the picture was shown.
When I login all the pictures are shown as preview and after double click.
    Any ideas?

Using that form of sharing the Library should be in the Users/Shared folder, not the Public folder.
However, lots of people report permissions issues with this form of sharing and instead I suggest using an external HD set to ignore permissions and formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

  • TS3276 There are two User accounts on my iMac. The two Users have seperate email accounts.  Both email Mailboxes show up in each Account.  If I Delete Mailbox from in User account, does it delete the Mailbox from the other User account at the same time?

There are 2 Users on my iMac.  Each User has their own email account.  Both account Mailboxes show up in each User's account.  If I delete a Mailbox in one account, does it delete the same Mailbox in the other Account?

If you click the - sign in Mail preferences, it will delete that mail account. If you just delete the Mailbox, that will just delete the Mailbox.
Each user can put their own email account information in Mail when logged into their User Account.
If you don't want the other user's mail account to show up in your mail application, then make sure the other user's messages are available to them when they are logged into their account and delete the other user account from Mail in your User Account. The other user can do the same when logged into their user account. Any messages stored in one locally will have to be transfered to the other's user account if it's not saved in their user login.
In addition, instead of deleting the account at first, highlight the account and open the Advanced Tab and disable the account. That email account will dissappear from Mail. Once you decide that you don't want the account, you can delete it. If you need to get back to it to transfer messages, just re enable it.

  • Cannot login to secondary accounts; can't fast user switch

I am on a Macbook, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB hard drive, 10.4.8. Today, I developed a strange problem with logging in. I have auto login set so I log in automatically to my main account, which (thank God) works. However, if I access Fast User Switching to switch to a secondary account I have set up, called Test, the transition starts (the cube rotates) , switching to a solid blue screen...and never goes any further. I cannot seem to find any way to bring up the login screen on startup, either; I must allow my main account to boot up, and then try to switch accounts. If I turn off auto-login, I get the login screen, but login to the other account still fails.
If I select, instead, the Login Window from the Fast User Switching menu, I get that screen. But when I select an account other than my main account, and try to log in, I get that blank blue screen. I've waited many minutes to see if something will eventually happen, but no go. The only way to get control of my Macbook back is to hold down the power button until it shuts down.
I have run Tech Tool diagnostics and have repaired permissions (no errors found). I deleted my Test account, and redefined it; I also defined a second test account, one with admin privs and one without. No problem creating the accounts. However, when I try to log in to those accounts, the computer hangs on the blue screen.
I'm not sure when this problem began because I have not been using my Test account for a couple of weeks. A lot has changed since then.
    Any suggestions, anyone?

More info: I turned off auto-login, and was able to log in to my test account. Then, I was able to use fast user switching to switch to my main account. I will try again restarting into my main account and see if I can switch to Test. This failed consistently before I posted here. Perhaps the "sense Mac guru" circuit kicked in and cured the problem. I'm about ready to turn in so won't post a follow-up until tomorrow. Right now, I need to use my two accounts to get the job done (a writing job with screen shots of a new unaltered account). Then, I'll go back to trying to see if the problem still exists when I log in to the main account first.

  • After software update everything is screwy on my main account only.

    Hello.
When I upgraded to 10.4.9 I had the same problem but it eventually fixed it's self.
After the upgrade to 10.4.10 things just started getting screwy. It started to run really slowly, some programs stoped working ( Vienna ), other weird things happened ( My trial peiriod for The Missing Sync restarted ( awful program BTW)) The computer won't recognize the scanner in my HP all in one... etc...
But all this is happening on only my main account.. my other account every thing seems to work fine..

    Hello Jacob,
Log back into your normal user account:
Here's the whole litany for thoroughly checking your home folder. It's not nearly as daunting as it looks.
    1. Navigate to ~(YourHome/Library/Fonts - drag this folder to the desktop.
    • Restart and test your applications.
    • If they work start adding the fonts back few at a time.
( Likely suspects are Times RO & Helvetica Fractions, also if you do not use Classic you can trash the classic fonts.)
    2. Check Preferences Thoroughly;
    • Navigate to ~(YourHome/Library/Preferences drag this folder to the desktop.
    • Restart and test your applications.
    • If this works, save the old preferences folder somewhere else or on disk, name it "old prefs" .
** Note: A very important file is the "com.apple.Mail.plist" preference file located in the Preferences folder which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences (hold this one and replace if your problem is not with Mail).
You'll have to go through some of your System Preferences and apps to set the preferences back to how you like them. (Or if you have the time and inclination, "cherry pick" through until you find the problem one or two.)
    3. Check Permissions Inside Home Folder
    • Navigate to YourHome/Library.
    • Get Info (Command - i) on folders for apps you are having problems with.
    • Open the "Ownership & permissions" disclosure triangle.
    • Make sure you are the owner, with "read and write" access.
    • Click on "apply to all"
    • If this is correct, open the "Applications Support" folder and do the same procedure (Command+I) for the folders with the names of the applications you are having trouble with.
    Note:
The reason to check this is because repairing permissions with Disk Utility doesn't touch permissions inside your home folder.
    4. Navigate to YourHome/Library/Caches and drag this folder to the trash, then log out and back or restart. There is no need to replace this folder.

Since I started working with Message Beta my account visibility for other users is offline.
With 'the old'  iChat my online status was visible to other users.

    Hi,
If you have multiple accounts/Buddy lists go to the Messages Menu > Preferences > General Section and use the item to unlink the Buddy Lists
Now check each one and also the setting to make them all the same.
If that does not work try Deleting the Account and then re-adding it/them

  • Administrator can access Safari & Firefox; other users can't

    Hi:
I have latest Safari & Firefox downloaded as well as Leopard. I can access the web browsers on my administrator account' but 3 other users in my family can't access them on their accounts. Any suggestions?

Applications need to be in the Applications folder which allows for system wide usage.
If these browsers are only in your Home folder, than only you can use them.
So make sure after you have downloaded them, that they are dragged out of the Disk Image into the Applications folder, and then eject the Disk Images they came in.

  • New HP Pavilion, shared printer, other user cannot print

Have just purchased HP Pavilion G6 with OS windows 7.
have set up to network sharing a printer, I am administrator.
    Printer is Brother MFC-240C
other user on network has a desk top built by local company - non specificbrand - and is running windows XP.
we have successfully shared printers in past when I was using a desktop with windows XP
question is:   is the fact that we now use different OS causing the problem with printing?

    Hi @78Senior,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot print from Windows 8.1 to your HP Deskjet f4180. I am happy to help!
I would recommend to go through this printer is offline guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print: Windows 8. When you get to solution four make sure to select USB and follow the steps there as well.
    Hope this works!

  • Sign in screen showing "Other User" and blank picture in Build 10049

In 9926 and 9974 builds, sign-in screen properly showed my picture and my account name and welcome. I don't use a password so it skips on to the desktop automatically.  No problems.  Starting with 10041, that screen shows a very big "Other
User" and doesn't show my picture.  The various available Account Settings all show what should be there like in prior builds.  There is only one account on my machine so there is no account listed as "Other User".  I didn't complain
in 10041 because I hoped 10049 would cure this but it did not.
    Any ideas?

Yes, Yolanda, the screen looks like your example.,  The local policy logon disable instruction does hold.  I tried it both enabled and disabled and didn't help.  However, i made another account with the following results:
Upon Shutdown or Restart, I still get "Other User" with blank picture like your screenshot.
If I then "SIgn Out" which produces the Lock Screen and then click on the screen, I get the correct sign-in with my MS account and picture shown.  First time I've ever been able to get that correctly.
If I change User's to my new test account, it shows properly with account info. If I then click on change user to my original account, it then shows the proper account info AND my picture as it should.
Other User never shows as an option on User list but continues to appear when Shutdown or restart is used!
Thank you very much for your continued interest. However, I don't believe either of us should waste any more time with this hoping that it will somehow disappear in the next build installation.
