Main Concept Encoder

The Premiere 6.5 Forum appears not to be used anymore. I am hoping that someone in the CS3 Forum can help me. I still use Premiere 6.5(PC) occasionaly for some projects. I need the Main Concept 1.2 MPEG Encoder. I cannot find it on the Internet.

>Any thoughts about that, anyone?
MainConcept is the only one that can answer that with any authority. ;)
Cheers

  • Main concept mpeg pro

Hii i have installed main concept mpegpro on my sys.
When i try to edit Mpeg file on time line it showing only video as i show in the image. please can you help me.
    Am using
    Intel i3
    windows 7
    Adobe pre pro cs3
    Mainconcept mpegpro HD 4

    1 GB graphics card

That is a different company, so you may have to ask them why their product is not working

  • Main concept 5.1 VS MPE ?

    Hi All,
    I have Mainconcept codecsuite 5.1
Does anyone know which render engine will yield better performance in PLAYBACK /or RENDER ?
I noticed that I have an option to choose Mainconcept or MPE as a Rendere.
    Thanks

I've been using the demo for a few weeks and that would be my advice also. However, here's a quote from the manual:
"It is recommended that you use Codec Suite Sequence presets on CS5. Only then you will
get the benefits of smart rendering for MPEG-1/2, DVCPRO and AVC-Intra. Furthermore,
using presets that are based on Codec Suite editing modes will ensure best performance
since Codec Suite's player and its importers are designed for optimum cooperation."
That seems to imply that you use MC options from "cradle to grave": sequence settings and the MC player explicitly and possibly the MC renderer also.
What I use is the "MC (CUDA)" renderer instead of MPE. I assume that it works with all the CUDA-enabled FX and transitions, since I haven't seen any performance loss, when compared to using the MPE. Maybe someone from Adobe could chime in here, because I'm guessing that the MC CUDA renderer is possibly just an officially tweaked version of the MPE renderer.
Your best bet to find out the answer for sure is to contact MC support.

  • Main Concept  and AVCHD- Bless Them

Now I know that MC are not held in the highest esteem on this forum but I have recently downloaded a beta demo version of MPEG Pro plug in (3.1beta5) that gives allegedly better AVCHD performance on the timeline (I must say it is not much better - but it is slightly easier to edit) However, when I open another project - HDV but before the plugin was installed (so not using one of the MainConcept presets) I still get the MainConcept demo watermark on the timeline and therefore any rendered output - Grrr. Any ideas why this is? I have asked mainconcept but a response will take a while I think.

    Response from mainConcept..
If you have installed MPEG Pro, its import modules will take over the import of many source types. This is a feature of Premiere Pro. Premiere asks all available import modules to open a file. The one with the highest priority takes over first. So in your case, although it is a non-MPE Pro project the import will be done by its plug-ins and that's why you see the demo logo. This behaviour is normal and unfortunately, not avoidable. But it is recommended to only use MPEG Pro project presets when working with MPEG Pro. If you want to finish an existing Adobe project, it might be better to uninstall MPEG Pro.
Hmm I'll be installing and uninstalling on a regular basis if that is the case!

  • M2V video re-transcoding in Encore

Sorry to be posting alot, but I could not find any matches on this issue. I am encoding out of premiere with AME to M2V with Main Concept of course. When I import the asset into Encore it wants to transcode it and I do not get the option of turning it off. Also, even though I make adjustments to the settings, it makes my origianl, supposedly DVD compliant file, larger. This is now taking twice as long to produce a DVD for testing.
Thanks to all your help on my other recent issues!

Hehe, I knew that was coming. I am using Adobe Media Encoder from Premiere, MPEG2-DVD, and my settings are the default min, 1.5 and I set the target to 4 and the max to 6.5-7 usually. It makes my movie about 2.4GB. The extension is M2V and Encore has no "problem" with importing it, however it wants to re-encode it. To be honest, I dont have enough disk space to render out uncompressed, and I dont want to render to DV AVI and compress it before I encode it. I do have the stand alone Main Concept encoder.

  • Am I about to ruin my project?

I'm about to color correct my DVCPRO HD project, but only have access to a standard NTSC broadcast monitor. I've got it successfully connected through my DVX100 using firewire to the camera and S-video from the camera to the monitor.
My question is, is it drastically problematic that my monitor is not HD quality? I'm only using it for color correction, not playback. Will I be okay using it for color reference? Or would I be better off using my Apple 23" HD monitor to do the correction?
    Thanks for any advice!
    Cameron

I got a reasonable encode from Compressor 2 by using Constant Bit Rate with the average set to 5.5. I know others here have used VBR with average set to 4.5 and max set to 7.5, but I believe most of them are dealing with short projects. Your mileage will definately vary depending on your footage. Also if you upgraded from Compressor 1 instead of a clean install, you may have some incompatible settings. Go over to the Compressor forum if you need more.
I did a lot of reading yesterday while I was waiting for low quality encodes to finish and the software options on the mac seem to be:
BitVice from Innobits. Good reviews. This is the direction I was leaning in if things didn't get better. You can download a demo.
Cleaner from discreet. Does lot of other things too.
Sorenson Squeeze. Also does a bunch of other stuff.
    Digigami's MegaPeg-X
    Heuris' MPEG Power Professional
    Main Concept Encoder
    Popwire's CompressionMaster.
ProCoder is PC only but seems to draw very high marks. Made me think about getting a PC just to do encodes in the corner. My business is not there yet.
I think next time around I'm going to try BitVice, or the soon to be released BitVice Pro.
None of this is based on any testing I have done, just a bunch of reading here, on Creative Cow and on 2-Pop.
    Good luck with your project.

  • Help!  Fault Module Name: mc_enc_avc.dll

I have tried tons of different things, reinstalling, tried a different harddrive, reformatted, checked my ram, even a different version of premiere and pretty much every time I try and export I get this error.
I have no idea what to do anymore, it is just.. not working. It used to work great.. I am getting this error using the h.264 format.
I have searched the net for hours coming up empty handed. I am hoping someone here has had this problem and can help me out. Also, I have tried versions 5.5 and 6 if that makes a difference. I am runing windows 7.
    Edit : I also sometimes get :
      Fault Module Name:
    StackHash_2264

Maybe something to do with the Main Concept encoder

and : other stuff....I will recall later....

I must reinstall Cineform Aspect HD to the new system (thanx for the reminder).
I thought I had transferred or reinstalled them all and thats why I posted. I was surprised how many other tools I needed in my work.
Plug ins - I agree with you Steven but there are some I just really need (like the ones mentioned). The rest are just "tools in the toolbox" required to deal with demands of client and system.

  • Field order issue with Avid codec

Is there some way of setting the field order of the source for Encore DVD 2. Given the problems I experienced with ProCoder I decided to encode a project using the inbuilt Main Concept encoder.
On the interpret footage menu I can correctly set the aspect ratio but not the field order.
Unfortunately Quicktime does not seem to be passing on the correct field order to the Main Concept encoder everytime.
I have had one encode using a preset I created that worked perfectly - I then copied that preset and added a crop and scale to get rid of some VIT (out of essential but viewable on the customers replay system) and everything was field muddled.
I can see how you can set the output field order but no way of setting the source field order. Transcoding on automatic had the same jumbled field effect.
BTW these were full Quicktimes not refs

Probably - although it is such a small re-scale, that if the scaling algorithm is even half-way decent the result should be fine. This is Digibeta originated footage.. in fact the result when I re-worked this in ProCoder was excellent.
I just wanted to avoid having to place a mask over 8 different sequences amounting to 50 minutes in length, as anything you then export would result in a full render (even though the Avid would play it in real time).
I guess I'll have to seriously look at my workflow - everything used to just work beautifully - Avid PAL codecs all UFF except for AvidDV LFF; now I keep getting a weird progressive looking result with the new Avid 1:1 10bit codec even though the source is interlaced UFF and recently I rendered an Avid DV export with all settings correct (Source LFF Target UFF) and it ended up jumbled. I had to deliberately set the source to UFF. I do think the culprit is QT 7 as all these problems seem to have started from the switchover from QT6+, but I'm not certain.

  • Audio out of sync with elemental plugin, and slower than my i7!!!

    Maaannn!!
I just got a PNY nvidia quadro 1800 with elemental accellerator plugin. I just transcoded 2 hours of HDV straight from premiere 4 with Adobe Media Encoder using the Elemental codec and the audio is out of sync. It plays out of sync on the Blu Ray disk, and in Encore4. The audio is perfectly synced in Premiere. I just did another project a week ago without the Elemental, using the default Main Concept encoder and the audio is perfect. I am pretty sure I have the latest version of the Elemental Accellerator because there is a button to check for updates and it says there are no updates available. Does anybody know what is wrong here?.
The transitions are getting messed up. I can see a small section with the audio synced, then the video repeats after a second throwing them out of sync. I also suspect that the Elemental accelerator does not process any faster than the default h.264 for Blu Ray encoder. I hope I did not waste my money on this nvidia quadro 1800..
Whoooaa! I just woke up and checked the transcoding time.. To transcode approximately 2 hours of HDV it took 6:35 (hr:mm) with the elemental accellerator and it took 5:09 with my i7 920 chip!! Was that nvidia card a waste of money, or what?!!! Between the slower speed and the audio out of sync, I'd say I made a BIG misteak.. Does anybody want to buy a PNY nvidia quadro 1800? it'll be on ebay very soon..
    Win7 64bit, Master Collection 4, i7 2.66 Ghz, Kingston Triple Channel DDR3 1600Mhz 6Gb, ASUS P6T, PNY nvidia quadro 1800.....

    Thanks Neil,
I don't think my audio interface has anything to do with it.. I am using Adobe Media Encoder for the export and the Audio interface's latency has nothing to do with it.. I see the source of the problem but not the solution.. The Elemental plugin is not working properly with the transitions in Premiere. The transitions are visibly botched and the sound is in sync for a partial second of each clip, then the video skips backward as the sound keeps playing. This happens on every clip after the transition.
Whatever you were talking about might have to do with some kind of real time export, but to where? I think Premiere might have some auto plugin delay compensation for audio tracks.. I dont think you even read my post.. My MOTU 896 Mk3 audio interface has a 128 sample buffer leaving a few milliseconds of latency, and I can set it as low as 64.. This still has nothing to do with my problem.. Thanks for your input..
I am curious to know what you thought I was capturing elemental streams and audio from my interface in real time to.. I was unaware of anything that works like that in this type of editing..
The bottom line is that my i7 chip gets the job done much faster than the quadro 1800, and that's a shame that I spent the money on the 1800.. On top of that it doesn't even work properly!!

  • Adobe Encore Anyone?!

    Hi All,
Is anyone here using Adobe Encore for DVD authoring? I am interested in being able to burn Blu-Ray discs and know of a few people who use FCP for editing and Adobe Encore for DVD Authoring. I film mostly weddings and other events and would like the capability of burning more than just a standard DVD. I know DVDSP can author an HD-DVD but since this is a dead format I am interested in what Encore can offer. I also see that some third party companies make templates for Adobe Encore. I see you can't buy Encore without buying CS3, which includes Premier Pro CS3. I use Final Cut and am not all that interested in premier Pro, only Encore. When I went to their website I did see the Premium CS3 Suite which also includes After Effects. It retails for $1599 I believe and the Educational Store sells it for $599. I guess much like Apple does, only allowing you to upgrade when you buy the entire suite again, not just an upgrade package if you qualify for the Educational Discount.
Anyone have experience with Adobe Encore? How does it compare to DVDSP? What about After Effects? How does Motion stack up against it? I guess if I go that route, I'll have to learn two new programs.
    Thanks,
    Scott

In my testing for blu ray authoring/burning, CS3 Encore doesn't compare favorably to DVD SP.
It uses the Main Concept encoder, and the results are not up to my expectations when authoring from DVCProHD footage.
Interface is clunky, and I discovered some bugs in burning to a blu ray discs that made it impossible to do anything but build to a image and then use Toast to burn the blu ray disc.
Motion menus for HD do not preview and must be rendered. Motion menus are not even identified as motion menus.
Good interactivity with PS, and to some degree with Premiere.
    But not what I want.
AE to Motion? Different apps altogether.
Go to LAFCPUG.org and there are reviews of AE there.

  • Youtube H.264 HD under 10 Minutes  but under 2 gigs???

    Hi
As you know YouYube allows up to 10 minutes, HD quality, but has a 2 gig max.  I am trying to encode in H.264 because that is, apparently, that is the "best" format, I'm told , for YouTube.
Yes, there is a YouYube HD preset  (YouTube Widescreen HD) but It's giving me files over 2 gigs.  Almost 3 gigs for an 8 minute video.
Can you, or anyone give me, a custom HD (HDV) preset that will help me get the video under 2 gigs -- with 1280 x 720?
Using CS4 Premiere 4.1.0 --  with the Adobe Media Encoder.  Media Encoder CS4 4.1.0.107
    Thanks
    ...Rowby

    Hi Shooternz,
    Thanks for your response.
I'm looking at the YouTube preset.  (See attached screen capture)
    1)  I assume it's best to do a VBR, 2 pass (rather than 1 pass?)
    2)  I see two sliders, Target Bitrate and Maximum bitrate.   Can you (or anyone here) tell me the "best" settings for these two sliders.
As a reminder, I'm encoding a 10 minute video for  YouTube high def NTSC 1280x720.  It's a 10 minute video -- YouTube requires that the files be under 2 gigs.
    ...Rowby
P.S.  I'm seeing some interesting info at this link:
    http://webvideotechniques.com/123/bigger-and-better-encoding-for-youtube-hd/comment-page-1 #comment-4959
    Specifically:
Now open your favorite encoding software, import your source file and enter the following settings.
    Video
    1280×720
29.97 FPS Progressive (Note: use whatever frame rate your source file is set to.  As long as it is progressive it should be ok.)
H.264 codec in MP4 wrapper (I recommend the Main Concept encoder if you have access to it, otherwise x264 will be fine)
Set your data rate from 4000kbps to 8000kbps (Higher data rates in the source video will give the YouTube encoder more data to work with)
Enable 2 pass VBR encoding if it is available
    Audio
AAC  (Use MP3 if AAC is not available)
    44.1kHz Stereo
    256kbps data rate

  • NTSC DVD production from PAL media

I have had issues producing DVD for the U.S in the past.
In New Zealand we can play both PAL and NTSC on probably 99% of the DVD players in the country. Same in Australia I believe.
Seems that the U.S has mostly NTSC only DVD players and it is difficult to find a PAL or dual standard player. (Is that correct?)
Is there a better (simpler, faster, less steps) way for me to produce DVDs for the U.S (NTSC) than the way I am doing it.
Edit in PAL project and out put movie.
Import PAL Movie into a NTSC Project. Small scale adjustment usually required
    Export Movie (NTSC)
Encode NTSC Movie to MPEG (I use Main Concept ENcoder - standalone version)
Open mpeg in NTSC Encore Project and burn disks
Note: I encode to mpeg outside Encore because Encore never seems to like encoding the avi (PAL or NTSC) in the NTSC Encore Project. It is fine with the mpegs

    >it is difficult to find a PAL or dual standard player. (Is that correct?)
    It is.
    >Is there a better way for me to produce DVDs for the U.S
    Maybe try DVFilm Atlantis.

  • Using MPEG elementary streams from Sonic SD-2000

    Hello,
Encore 2 will import assets that we've encoded on our Sonic SD-2000 hardware encoder (MPEG-2 and AC3 elementary streams). However, when placed on a timeline, the MPEG-2 files cause Encore to hang ("Not Responding" in Task Manager) for about 12 seconds, release, and then hang for about another 12 seconds. It is possible to scrub the timeline and view the video after that, but it will occasionally hang during scrubbing, too. No problems at all with the AC3 audio files.
MPEG-2 video is CBR at 7Mbps bitrate. Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening? It's seriously impacting our efficiency at authoring projects. If Encore is picky about GOP structure, etc, please let me know appropriate settings that we should use for our encoder. We don't want to transcode them in Encore since they're already compressed to MPEG-2. Thanks for your time and input!!
    Matt

    Thanks, Ruud.
I analyzed several files that we've tried in Encore from various sources. The ones that worked were all closed GOP, including the sample Encore training files, and some that we've encoded with the Main Concept encoder out of After Effects.
We have an issue to work out with Sonic - even if closed GOP is selected in the Encode application, the encode script still shows "setgopopen true" and the analyzer says the file has an open GOP.
