Mainly Firefox shuts down my browser window with all tabs intact; sometimes it throws up a dialog box that threatens to close all my tabs--why?

I would like Firefox to let me close my browser window retaining all of my tabbed sites. Usually it does this with no argument '''but''
sometimes it pops up a dialog box reminding me that I'm about to close multiple tabs....
I do not want to shut down multiple tabs, '''but''' I do want to have Firefox restore all these tabs (7 or 8) when I next log on, so that I can continue to work on these sites without having to look up their URLs each time!

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
Another possibility is to use:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • My firefox shuts down for as long as 8 to 12 hours & my internet exployer shuts down with it, been like that for 2 days?

In the last two days starting at 2:30 pm eastern time my firefox shuts down with my internet exployer and it will not open for 8 to 12 hours. Ive never seen this before. I deleted firefox from my control panel and reloaded it 4 times in 2 days and it still does not work right.

Simple, You have a hardware problem that only Apple can fix. So you need to take it back in to an Apple store and have it fixed by Apple. If it is still within it's one year warranty period it will be free.
If you khaven't bought the Apple care Extended Warranty, Applecare, then I suggest you do that before the standard one year warranty runs out. You can't buy it after that one year warranty runs out and to fix any Mac out of warranty is Very Expensive.

  • Help! Flash makes Safari (or Firefox) shut down

I've been on the phone with applecare and they can't help me, they suggested someone here may be able to...
The main user of my G5 is my 4yr old daughter who likes the playhouse disney (playhousedisney.com) website. Recently when we go to the website it will shut down the browser with a kerninvalidaddress error and then often shut the computer down. Sometimes it takes several boots to get it up and running again. I just wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system and still am having the same problem. Has anyone had similar problems and have an suggested fixes or idea what this could be?

    To Apple Discussions.
Since I don't use Safari, I tried the site (thanks for the link) & got the dreaded in FF, Netscape & Camino & had to force quit all those browsers.
I repaired permissions, restarted my computer, reopened each of the above browsers, cleared out the cache (located in the browser(s) Preferences, went back onto the site & everything worked out fine.
Make sure you have the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player Software & QuickTime Player.
For good measure, I would also install one and/or all of the following:
    Flip4Mac
    VLC Media Player
    Perian
How much RAM do you have? Hopefully, you are maxed out as that site is very heavily flash orientated.
If you are using the latest version of Safari which is BETA=buggy, you may wish to go back one version if the above solutions do not work for it.

  • AUTOUPDATE shut down my browser

I looked around in the forum and couldn't find anything about this:
    - Everytime I try to use the Autoupdate feature in the Creative support web page it just close down the browser. I already removed the Creative Acti'veX files that someone suggested somewhere else with no luck. I removed and reinstalled the Acti'veX files for Autoupdate and, as soon as I click the "autoupdate" option in the page, my browser shut down. There is no error or anything - it just shut down the browser!
    - My system spec is:
    Windows XP Pro SP2 (with all updates until today);
    SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (no Zs or any other letter nor Platinum, just pure and plain Audigy 2);
Internet Explorer 6 (with all updates until today)
Do we have a solution for this?
    Thanks,
    UruBoo

    Hi
    Why hassle with autoupdate?
    Update manually.
Check which version of card you have (see what's printed on card) and download drivers.

  • Macbook Pro 10.6.8 won't shut down. Blue screen with spinning wheel.

it's an 15 inch macbook pro. since I bought this computer was working fine about last year. Somehow, start of this year, the problem begins. Everytime when i opened microsoft word 2011 on mac or Photoshop cs5, and quit the software as normaly. When i try to shut down the blue screen with spinning wheel apears. this spining wheel is endless. But funny thing is that after use other software such as games, web browser (safari) etc. and quit them. when i shut down there was not a problem. only word 2011 for mac and adobe photoshop cs5. Any solutions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged during the time something abnormal was happening. That time might be before or after the boot.
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. If the problem is a system crash or freeze, post the messages from before the boot time, when the system was about to crash or was failing to shut down. In either case, please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning or the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
If the log doesn't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2. Search that archived log, and if necessary the older ones below it, for the same information.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
    Do the same with kernel.log.
    Step 3
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • When an internet connection is available, I run iTunes and it shuts down on my Windows 7 64bit computer.

When an internet connection is available, I run iTunes and it shuts down on my Windows 7 64bit computer.  It used to crash when I went to the iTunes store but, after installing the newest version of iTunes it crashes if there is an internet connection.  I can turn off my internet access and then run the software but, once I try the iTunes store again it crashes.  It does not give an error message as to why its doing this.  Just says it encountered a problem.  I cannot do anything with my iPad or iPod without this working.  Its extremely frustrating.
I have also contacted Apple several times and they give me links to other's problems but, none have worked to fix this.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • Firefox shut down & updated in the middle of my work; I could not restore my session; you have literally cost me my job and future.

Firefox shut down & updated in the middle of my work; I could not restore my session; you have literally cost me my job and future if this cannot be fixed. I don't understand why it updated without me prompting it to. It also never ask to report a crash.
I went to play a youtube video, my entire screen flashed, when the screen came back, the youtube video screen was green. I refreshed the page and my system stopped- a blue screen appeared and something about verifying disk or something. My system the restarted, and when I opened firefox, it first said preparing updates and when it did finally open, the new updated version, of course, I could not restore my previous session.

You can check in the Firefox profile folder to see if there are numbered sessionstore-##.js present.<br />
The sessionstore.bak file could also have a previous session.
You can also try to restore a previous copy of the sessionstore.js file if there is one present that could contain that lost session.
    *Right-click: Properties > Previous Versions
    *http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions
Be sure to make a backup copy of all sessionstore files before making changes.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Help please I have a power mac 8.0 mac osx 10.3.4. The problem is that it keeps shutting down on its own with no warning. this is totaly random with regards to the length of time. all I do know is the bottom right area of the mac feels warmer than the rest of it. does any one have a idea how to solve this.

    Hello,
Have you blown the dust out lately?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems

By "shut down" do you mean "crash". If so, please post a crash report from Safari.

Try booting to the Recovery drive, running Disk Utility and Repair disk and Repair Permissions.
    1. Reboot and immediately hold down command and R (two keys).
    2. When you see the screen shown on this page, select Disk Utility and continue.
    3. When DU is running, select the hard drove on the left, First Aid and Repair Disk.

Firefox shuts down within seconds of opening any web page.
Same problem in Firefox safe mode.
    I have unchecked hardware acceleration.
I have uninstalled, removed all data files, deleted all profiles and reinstalled Firefox.
    Internet Explorer works fine.

I recently began to experience this same problem. There are many, many reports of this same trouble all over the web. Why is it that when so many people report having the same problem tech support asks each user to perform trouble shooting. The firefox team should instead look for the fault within the firefox program.

My S5 shuts down on its own with no warning, no rhyme or reason.  It attempts to factory reboot when it does it too!  It freezes up at least once a week and becomes a $600 worthless brick.  This has all been happening since day two that I got it.  Went back to Verizon store and they told me nothing was wrong with my phone and they would not replace it.  I'm at my wit's end.  HELP!

    BambieS5,
Sorry to hear about your trouble with the s5! Does the trouble that you are having persist in Safe Mode? http://vz.to/1xp1XUi . Does the battery have any signs of cracking, corrosion or swelling?
