  • HT5517 How can I adjust sound level when streaming radio from my Apple TV through Airplay speakers?

I have a 2nd Gen Apple TV with an airport express set up as airplay speakers.  I can stream the new radio through using the Airplay speakers pretty well.  The problem is that once I've got it going, I cannot adjust the sound level without laboriously backing out of the radio menu, going back to the top level menu then drilling down into the Airplay settings to raise or lower the speaker's sound level.
Is there an easier way to do this?

go to system preferences > Sound > Output. then change the output from "built-in" to HDMI.

  • No sound after using quicktime pro???

I converted a video and added it to itunes but it played with no sound. Please help i bet there is a stuipid mistake im making here im pretty mad that i just spent 30 dollars on quicktime pro only to have problems.

This is normal if your source file is a "muxed" audio/video data stream. Use an MPEG based converter for these type files.

  • Sound button no longer adjusts sound level properly

Since upgrading to 4.02 on iPhone 3GS I have had sound issues. The sound button on the side of the phone does not adjust the sound level at all. The only way to fix it is to adjust the sound level from the sound settings menu. This seems to temporarily "reset" the sound button so it works properly once again. However the issue does not go away. This happens at least once a day. Restoring the phone as a new phone does not work either. Anyone have the same issue?

Mine is really low volume now, set to max but sounds like its on minimum.. Ive even replaced the speaker module but still the same, all stems from OS4..
Hopefully wednesdays release of 4.1 will cure this!!

  • Adjust sound levels of typing/clicking

Hello, i was wondering if it's possible to lower the volume
level of the default typing and clicking sounds. It is too loud and
drowns out the background audio. This would be much easier than
adjusting all of my audio files. I know i could import a new mouse
click sound other than the default, but that would be a little more
annoying. I also don't see an option to import a typing sound...is
    this possible also?
    thanks.

    Hello p0k22,
As far as I can recall I don't think that you can reduce the
volume level of the default typing object as this is something that
Captivate automatically adds. You can however disable the tap
audio, which is something I tend to do.
    To accomplish this carry out these steps;
    1. Choose Project > Preferences
    2. Click the Preferences tab
    3. Deselect the option "Play tap audio for recorded typing
    when the project is generated"
Now if you own Flash and you feel comfortable exporting your
Captivate project to either Flash 8 or Flash MX 2004 then you
should be able to reduce the level of tap audio there.
Something else that you could try (and I really haven't
tested this) would be to open the KeyClick file which you will find
    via the following path...
    Programs > Adobe > Adobe Captivate 2 > Gallery >
SoundEffects > KeyClick in an external audio editor such as
Audacity, rename it as KeyClick_old (or something like that so that
you have a backup copy) and then lower the volume of the KeyClick
audio file in Audacity. I suspect that Adobe Captivate 2 uses this
file to add the various audio taps when capturing your keystrokes.
Like I say I haven't tried this and I could be barking up the wrong
tree completely but it might be worth a try.

    Mark

  • Quicktime pro can't display  H264 video

I have a several avi video files that are H264 for video and Microsoft ADPCM for the sound track.
Quicktime Pro can play audio (but no video) and VLC can play video (but no audio) for this format.
I have tried installing Perian, uninstalling Perian and upgrading to Quicktime Pro, all to no avail.
When I try to open the avi file in quicktime, quicktime states that it is missing a component and if I continue, it opens a browser to thttp://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=OSX&ctype=696d6463&c subtype=48323634
I thought the H264 codec was a core to QuickTime Pro, so I am very confused. I would appreciate any suggestings.
    Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply.  I had just did a search on this and still couldn't find the solution.
Anyways with a little self reseach, I found it to be somewhat of  a a little "hidden" fucntion.
But once I found it... WoLLA!!
    To merge to clips together:
    1. Open the clip you want to merge (clip B)
    2.  Go to top menu navigation Edit > Add Clip to End...
    3.  Quicktime will open a window to select the clip you want to merge.
    4. Choose that clip (clip A)
    That's it.
    Hope this helps

  • QuickTime Pro 7.1 sound edits not saving

In QuickTime Pro 7.1 when I adjust the volume level in the movie Properties dialog, then save the file, the edits are not saved with the file when I reopen it and play it. The volume level reverts back to the way it was before.
Is there something I am doing wrong?
    TIA

If you're the adventurous type and the missing functionality of QT 7 is a real burden then you can do the following:
    1. download QT 6.5.1 from here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime651.html
    do NOT install it.
    2. download Pacifist here:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Use Pacifist to open the "QuickTime651.pkg"
(What we do next is extract only the QuickTime 6.5.1 Player from the package.)
From the "Application" folder in the open Pacifist window, choose "QuickTime Player.app"
In the Pacifist icon menu choose "Extract To..." and choose your Desktop.
    * Important: Rename the "QuickTime Player" on your Desktop to "QuickTime Player 6.5.1"
Put it into your Applications folder and use as you have in the past.
Any changes you make to the video or sound can now be saved as before if you use this player to open your movies.
The QuickTime 7 player will still function as it did before.

  • Sound Level adjustment causes sound bumps in video

Hi, When I adjust the sound level on an MP3 track two sound bumps/thuds/heart beats are magically inserted into the center of the main video's audio. They do not show up at the point of the adjustment handles, nor at the transitions. In fact, when zoomed in a lot, they seem to be on each side of the video icon for the particular video segment. They come in pairs and are about a second apart. This isn't the sound glitches at the transitions about which many write. Anyone else experience this?
    Thanks, Jim

I've tried that slider on iDVD with no effect. Not sure what it is for, in fact. Maybe someone else can help. David Pogue's Missing Manual book on iMovie and iDVD doesn't mention that control.
But I do know that to adjust the sound within the project, you need to be in iMovie. There are several editing tools to add sounds, adjust levels, etc. I have in fact found this to be the most time consuming part - not technically, but to produce a project where the sounds are not too loud or too soft, insert the appropriate background music, edit out peaks, etc. Techincally easy to do each piece but a lot of work to really get the audio to match and enhance the project.

  • Problems with Sound in Quicktime Pro

Im having problems with my Quicktime Pro. Basically whenever i open up a movie file using Quicktime (.mov, .avi, .mpg, etc) the video will play but the audio jumps and sounds like B B B B B, K K K K, D D D D.
It does this even if i open a Quicktime Movie (.avi or .mov) in another player because its still using the Quicktime codec.
Ive asked for help on the Quicktime support page because i am a paying customer but they have not replied.
It is a big problem for me due to my Pro Tools Audio Post work, which i cannot do at the moment bacause i cant even import a movie file because Pro Tools uses the Quicktime codec to import movies. Even software with videos that are in Quicktime format will not work.
If anyone can make any suggestions on how i might overcome this problem i will be very thankfull if you would reply to this post.
    Thank You

This is an inherent [feature|problem] with using POP - each client keeps track of which messages have been read or not, and has no idea of what other clients have done.
The typical solution is to use IMAP rather than POP. IMAP keeps that data on the server, so it's easy for clients to see what's new and what isn't.
I have no idea whether hotmail support IMAP, though. If they don't then consider changing your setup to a different provider if needs be.

  • Sound Level and Quality in Macbook Pro 2.33

I recently bought a Macbook Pro 2.33 and I am disappointed with the sound level of the speakers which are not very loud at full volume and the the sound quality not as good as my old Compaq Presario. My old Compaq Presario is about 3 to 4 times louder than my MacBook Pro. Also the Compaq Presario uses JBL Pro speakers. I have not seen any info on Apples site with regard speaker types. I believe the forum needs to add a dedicated section to Audio in general. Yes, I know is a section for Logic and Garageband, but other users use different programs. Can any user please tell me about their audio experience with the MacBook Pro 2.33?

I don't think the audio is that bad. Maybe it's better on the 17" version. I know that it's louder and sounds more clear than my Toshiba Satellite. I also use external speakers when I really want to get good volume but I think my internal speakers do a good job. I will say that at half volume I get hardly any sound coming out at all though.

I see some people have reported problems with sound similar to mine but none appear to be the same?
    Any ideas??
