Maintain different unit of measure at operation level

HI
I am working on a scenario where I have to maintain product in different units after each operation for a material. like i am working on SFG to get FG in 3 steps. my base unit of measure is lb. I maintain my product after 1st operation in lb, after 2nd operation in PC, and after 3rd operation again in PC. but weight of Piece after II & III operation are not same. how can i maintain relation between PC & lb at operation level. is it possible?

Hi,
1. Routing can be created for one header unit of measure only
2. But in the routing we can have different "Operation Unit"
3. In the routing in the operation details there is a unit of measure conversion details
1 header unit = 1 operation unit
4. In your case you need to maintain this which can solve your problem.
Kindly let me know if this is useful or if it doesnt work we can find alternate solution for the same.

Go to MM42, select basic data view
In,Units of measure/ EANs /dimensions sub tab
there u can see four radio buttons
B.Un    Unit of measure is base unit (used internally only)
O.Un    Unit of measure is the order unit                             - Purchasing
D/L.Un Unit of measure is delivery unit/issue unit              - Logistics
S.Un    Unit of measure is the sales unit                             - Sales
for eg:
First line enter EA (each) or PC (piece) in Auom for a material and enter 1 in Number and select radio button for B.Un
Second line enter CT (carton) in Auom and enter 10 in Number and select radio button for O.UN (when you creating a PO it UOB automatically picks as CT)
Third line enter PALin Auom and enter 50 in Number and select radio button for D/l .UN (when u creating a delivery UOB picks as PAL ie pallets)
Fourth line enter EA or PC and enter 1 in Number and select radio button for S.UN (when u creating a Sales order UOB picks as EA or PC as u defined)

How to maintain different unit of measure in the system

Hi,
I am using a flat file source system in which i am using a 0MATERIAL,0QUANTITY.
Now i need to load conversion factors into 0MAT_UNIT.
how to do this for flat files?
I have to do this to fill master data by right clicking on 0mat_unit and doing maintain master data and when i click on any fiels there like unit of measure and do F4 i am not able to see all the unit of measures like KG,CAN,PC etc...
plz tell me how to do this?

Thanks but since i am using a flat file source system and if i right click on the source system i dnt get the option "transfer global settings"...
the solution u have given is for R/3 datasources.

Different unit of measurement

Hi
For the material a85.52.02.1121, when I see material document list(MB51),material movement showing different UOM( M & FT).
For material movement 261 it is showing 2- (qty) FT
movement 262 it is showing 2(qty) FT,
But for movement type 561 it is showing 2 (qty) M.
But we maintained in the material master,UOM & alternative unit of measure as 'M' only.
my question is
From where this FT unit of measurement is coming?
Any tips to solve this problem?

Hi,
Check the Unit of issue at plant data storage location 1 of the MMR, I suppose its with FT,
Other wise too as both M and FT are standard UOM's,with a standard conversion, you can enter a different unit of measurement apart from the base unit maintained in the MMR during the transaction (261/262), which will get automatically updated in the inventory.

Is there any possibility to work with 2 different unit of measurement at a time in sap which need to be independent from each others mean no relation b/w 2 uom.
My client is a steel manufacturer. When a bar (steel rod) received from vendor, they want to enter in system with uom as KG and bundle and same thing will be control in all possible good movement. even in sell, they want to control with 2 unit on measurement. pls guide me. thanks

You can maintain two uom for material, You can purchase this material with two uom. But material can only stored in warehouse with base unit of measure. You can also sale the material with two unit.

only relevant for quantity columns with unit link.
Name of the internal output table field containing the measurement unit associated with the quantity field FIELDCAT-FIELDNAME.
The field in FIELDCAT-QFIELDNAME must have its own field catalog entry.
qtabname (internal measurement unit field output table)
value set: SPACE, output table field name
Name of the internal output table containing the FIELDCAT-QFIELDNAME field.

WM MF60 different unit of measure

Hi all.
I am trying to move material from raw material warehouse (managed in WM) into production warehouse (not managed in WM). In production warehouse production order exists for manufacturing.
For transferring components between both warehouses I am using MF60 trasaction.
There are some materials that are consumed in one unit of measure (ST) but transferred in another one (CRT). Although the requirement is to transfer 1 unit for one production order, one box (containing 60 units) will transferred and this will cover the production of the next 60 production orders.
For this purpose I maintain WM unit of measure including CRT and as base unit of measure ST but the 311 movement is made based on ST unit of measure and so the TR and TO.
Did I miss any customizing? Should I use the issue unit of measure, not enough with WM unit of measure?

ME51N : how to deal with different units of measure as defined in MM01?

Hi Folk,
Could you please help me ?
Some of our materials booked in stock are purchased by our purchasing department in Europe but as well by our purchasing department in US.
The base unit of measure of those materials are defined with KG (kilogram) in the masterdata file (MM01).
Why this is not allowed to enter a purchase requisition (ME51N) with other unit of measure than KG? My purchasing department in US is not able to work with kilogram and thus they need to enter the requisition with US units of measure (pounds).
However when we create purchase orders, we can play with other units of measure.
Does someone can explain to me how to create a PR with a unit of measure different from the default one? Or could you share your experience to bypass this issue. Note that we really would like to have the same material number both for Europe and US (with different plants and storage locations).

Rounding the order quantity in different Units of measurement

Hello Experts,
We need your suggestion to meet the below mentioned client's requirement.
There are around 200 SKUs in the consideration and three units of measure ( case, carton and pallet defined for them).We are looking for way to suggest the order qty based on multiples of the unit, case, carton & pallet Quantities.
The order will always be placed in base unit PC and system should suggest the best possible combination with a Pop Up message.
For example with this SKU
SKU Unit Case Carton Pallet
123456 1 12 144 8640
Customer ordered 10 units during the validation of that line pop up message should suggest 12 units. (1 case)
Customer ordered 5 units there should be no suggestion ( 5 units )
Customer ordered 130 units during the validation of that line pop up message should suggest 132 units. (11 cases)
Customer ordered 146 units during the validation of that line pop up message should suggest 144 units. (1 carton)
Customer orders 153 units during the validation of that line pop up message should suggest 156 units. (1 case + 1 Carton)
Suggestions needs to be able to round up or round down based on the closest combination multiple.
I have gone through the idea of roudning profile idea but need some more inputs as how to realize the same.
As one material can have requirement in all alternate units of measurement and we can assign one profile per UoM in Material master and the order quantity is not dependent on any specific customer group so how would the system recogine/derive the best possible combination in different cases for different UOM.
Pls provide your valable inputs.

I don't think thsi is possible with SAP Standard settings & you will have to apply a User Exit.
You ABAPer will have to develop a logic based on your requirements & then system can give a pop-up with best possible combination.

Different Unit of measure in PO print

Hi all
I had a problem while retreiving unit of measure for line items of a service PO. While retreiving UOM( using Select statement) i am getting different UOM when compared to database(found in standard table EKPO). This is happening only for line items having services. the other line items UOM is coming as usual.
for example if the UOM in EKPO Table is AU it is coming as LE by using select statement
can any one help me out why i am getting like this.

I've seen this many times and as far as I'm aware it's language related. There are other examples such as unit of measure ST becoming EA and Sales Order type OR becoming TA.
As long as you know what your select statement will retrieve then it shouldn't be a problem.

Different Unit of measure in vbn1

Scenario- this is a manufacturing company, customers are retailors here.
                 company has an offer for customers/retailors
                 buy one carton of mineral water get 2 bottles free. (one carton= 12 bottles of mineral water )
                 I have maintaind two units in MM01,by giving Base unit and Alternative Unit in additional data.
   Ques-   In Tcode VBN1(free goods)- we cant maintain two different units.
                CLient wants when we make sales order for one carton it should come like this :-
                material -1 carton    TAN
                material -2 bottles    TANN (free goods)
               Is it possible to do like this?

How to maintain Two Unit of Measure on One Item?

Hi Experts,
good day!
An item can be purchased either in Metric ton or Kgs. but maintain an inventory UoM in Kg only. What step do I need to consider, aside from creating a UDF.
Since, I can see only one conversion in item Master data, 1 Metric Ton = 1,000 kg... ( Purchasing UoM= Metric Ton) , What if my client wanted to purchase an item in Kg? The system can only viewed metric ton, how about the kg? Please help me on his matter... Thanks and God bless.

In marketing document, you may select different Base Units for the item to utilizing two UoM.

Release demand from with different Unit of Measure

Dear colleagues,
I have the following issue:
a) The material master base unit is Kilograms KG
b) The base unit used in DP is UN
c) In the master data exits the conversion 10 UN = 32KG
d) If I release 7800 UN from DP to SNP, I received 7800 KG instead of 29460 Kg.
What am I missing?

i assume your SNP Planning area is in KG
I dont think the release forecast program checks the UoM of SNP planning area before release, It will transfer the PA base UoM.
So you can either have UN in SNP PA or you can use a internediate DP planning area with KG as UoM and then transfer to SNP (you can do this in one job just like you do normal release). If you use the same MPOS as the original DP planning area and use only the relevant KF that will be more than enough

Hi,
You can maintain different BuM
But the stock keeping BuM will remain same
You have to maiintain in Purchasing view if you wish to Purchase in different BuM other than BuM of material soon you enter different BuM in Purcahsing system aske for the convsrsion factor Like 1kg = 100 PC here BuM is 1Kg but ordered BuM is PC
In the similer way in Sales View you can enter sales BuM & stock keep BuM.

soory for delay,
to create condition table and assigning to access sequence go to
spro-mm-purchasing-condition-create contion table(in this create table in 900 ser.and enter. then double click on field u wnt eg. pur.org plant etc and then generate the table)-then go to acc. seq. in that go to change and assign that con. table before the info record table i.e. if info record acc, no. is 20 give earlier no. which is available and save it .
then go to MEK1 t. code u will get the pop up in which u will get u r combination ok.
