Maintain Folder Opened

Hello everyone,
I have 3 applications in 3 different IViews, corresponding to 3 pages ("Program1" to "Program3").
All pages are inserted in a folder "Applications". This folder is then linked to a Workset.
My problem is that, when i open the portal, the folder "Applications" appears closed. I would like to show it immediatly opened. What setup do i have to change for this to happen ?
--Applications
Program1
Program2
Program3
Thank you in advance to all,
Nuno

Thank you for your reply, Roy. Your solutions helps me if the folder is the first object on the list. But imagine that i have two iviews before, like this:
---IntroView
---ApplicationA
Folder
---Application1
---Application2
---Application3
In this case, the Iview you mentioned has IntroView as the default, and doesn't open the folder. Can i swith default to "folder" from this detailedNAvigationTree specifically to this Workset, without interfering with others ?
         Thank you

The MacOS folder is normally inside an Application Package. It looks like maybe you have an app set to open in your Login Items, but it isn't actually launching, just opening the enclosing folder. I can't tell what app that is.

Just installed Abode Acrobat 9 Pro today.

Is this what you are seeing, but with everything but the close button X inactive?
Did you get there from File Menu/New/Project in the workspace shown?
    If so....
What do you have as the Save In: location and how much free hard drive space is there at that location?

  • Transmission-gtk: "Open Folder" opens Gwenview instead of... (Solved)

This might be a silly question.
I'm running KDEmod. I recently switched from vuze to transmission-gtk, and when I click on "Open Folder" in the context menu of a torrent, the folder opens in Gwenview instead of Dolphin. There's nothing in Preferences about pointing to a file manager, so I'm stumped.

To answer your question, I get a "Launch Application" window allowing me to choose which application with which to open it, and giving me the option to have my choice be remembered by the system.
    However, your solution worked
Now I just have to figure out how to get Firefox to handle file links properly without bringing up the annoying window--or decide whether or not to make the effort.
EDIT: Scratch that . . . it just took some playing around in Preferences. Now, no more annoying dialogue box

  • Home folder opens on startup

Hi guys. This is a problem I've seen in other posts but none of the sollutions worked for me, so here goes...
When I boot my computer and login, the Home folder opens automatically and I don't know why. Surprisingly, this only happens after a fresh boot; if I log out and log back in, the Home folder does not open. This is quite annoying as I have to close the window everytime.
Before you go and answer me, please know that:
    1. I am not leaving any Finder windows open when I log out or shutdown.
    2. I have checked the Login Items under Account settings and there's nothing that would suggest the Home folder is being loaded from there.
    3. I have deleted the com.apple.finder.plist to reset the Finder settings to no avail.
I am wondering whether one of my preference panes or a background app is causing this. Here is my list of preference panes:
    -Flip4Mac WMV
    -iStat menus
    -Secrets
    -SizzlingKeys
Here are the items in the Login Items list under Account settings:
    -iStat menus helper
    -iTunes helper
    -Google notifier
    -SizzlingKeys4iTunes
Any idea how to fix this ?
    Thanks

    Hello alp:
I doubt if Flip4Mac is doing anything. The other stuff you installed (I do not use any of that) might. You might try uninstalling all that third party stuff and see if that helps.

  • Dropping files to fullscreen apps through mission control results in app folder opening and in some sort of task switching madness

In Snow Leopard I got used to attach documents in mails by dragging and dropping files from the desktop to the message window. To do so  I used active corners (spaces, exposé). Now, with Mission Control in Lion I've tried to keep that workflow but this leads me to an awkward problem. To reproduce it in my computer I do the following:
Pick up a file from the desktop --> drag it to lower right corner (opens mission control) --> drag it to full screen mail space, press space to switch (applications folder opens inside mission control), and a lot of apps too (those the cursor hovered).
At the same time, mail full screen window opens (as waiting time selected in finder preferences for triggering is short), then Lion turns crazy entering in some sort of spasmodic task switching mode, which lasts after I find some clear space to drag the file back in the desktop.
Did any other user  experience something similar? Is there something I could do to help to fix the problem?
    Thanks for you answers.
[Edit: Ok, so I started trying with other apps and it turns that every time I drag and drop any file to a fullscreen app in mission control and use the space key to open it, I get a similar behavior. I did it in Scrivener and it resulted in photoshop and itunes opening,  Scrivener vanished and but left an empty (like dashboard's) desktop.]

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    >>Running bootcamped Win7, yes power consumption is more, a lot more,....indications are no.
Sorry, can you clarify on this one - do you mean the power consumption is more DURING the use of Windows, or ALL of the time (even when using the Mac as normal with OSX).... also what did you mean by indications?
    >>From the parameters of what you say your use would be, Id recommend the I5 with 8gig of ram. the 12 hour >>batt. life is only rated for the 13" on the I5, ....not the I7.
Sounds like my first guess was about right - and good point about the battery life - as that is something that's quite important to me!
    >>The "switch" is extremely easy. Ive seen grandmothers switch to a MAC and have its 'everyday use' >>conquered in under a week. So, you should have no worries, its extremely user friendly, no worries of virus, >>etc.
Glad to hear I've done more research and already seen a few features I can see myself preferring a lot more to the Windows system!
    >>As a former computer repairman, Ive owned nearly 200 diff. laptops (many were free, or Franken-computers >>built from parts) and I can honestly say the Macbook AIR is the finest piece of beloved hardware Ive ever >>owned by a mile.
    >>Many people incorrectly see the THIN nature of the Air and incorrectly conjecture its "less than" a full laptop, >>but the contrary is the case.
Nah, I don't associate size with performance - especially these days, everything is getting smaller. My concerns are really just about whether to upgrade for extra performance, and using the OS - once I have those nailed I am pretty cofident the hardware will perform well.
    >>Additionally the AIR is the only Mac that has 802AC wifi, new Haswell cool-running processor, and extremely >>long 12 Hr. batt life on the I5 13" configuration.
Yeah that battery life is one of the big sellers
    Cheers for the tips,

  • Maintain folder state in struts in a JSP

    Hi
I had a requirement of displaying a group of folders in very large numbers in the corresponding Folder hierarchies in a JSP. I acheived it using Ajax calls. This is the set of steps we have adopted
    1. When ever a user clicks a Open/Close/add file/delete file/add folder/delete folder to a folder, using Ajax we retrieved the whole result set into a XML, applied some styles to it(XSLT) and finally we make them displayed in the jsp using object. innerHTML = processResponse()method in Ajax.
    2. while we dispay this entire Library tree in the JSP, we maintain the state of the folders in a map(Which contains the folder id's which are in expanded state) and that map is being attached to a session and thus we store the each FolderInfo and finally display the tree using XSLT.
    3. I notice the state is always getting disturbed every time I perform the above mentioned actions, I see the entire tree with all the folders in expanded state(as the default value of the isExpand variable of the FolderInfo object is true.). Is this the correct way of preserving the Library Tree's state. If not so , please suggest an improvements of the existing process or an alternative one.
This process involves the role of map in the session across alll teh DAO and business layers and finally to the Presentaion layer.
    Thanks

Yes, there are two ways (at least) to do that:
    1. Map<String, ClientData> where String is the result of RemoteServer.getClientHost(). Use this in the case where there is only one instance of your remote object.
    2. Allocate a remote object instance per client. I call this the Remote Session pattern. You make it so that the thing you look up in the Registry is really a factory, and your clients call a method on the factory to get their own instance, which is basically a remote session.

  • When I login at startup a random folder opens

Ok, this is weird. First of all this is my first Mac and I'm having a really difficult time figuring something out. Before I do a shutdown I will close every finder window and program. The next time I turn my computer on and login I will be greeted with a random open finder window. Sometimes it's my music folder, sometimes it's a random Library folder and sometimes it's work sensative docs. During shutdown/restart I uncheck the box that asks if I want the windows to resume when I turn it back on, but that doesnt really matter since I was never using those random finder windows to begin with. Am I just not understanding something? Why does it do this 9/10 times I start my computer?

Click here and follow the instructions, or if they don't cover the type of adware on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • Mac OS6: How to disable the "Folder opens when hovering a file" thing

Ya know that Finder feature where you can drag an icon over a folder icon, then if you wait a moment, the folder will open up automatically? Is there a way to disable that annoying little feature?
    Thank you-

Click on the desktop, go to the menu and choose Finder > Preferences. Under the General tab, turn off the check box for spring loaded folders.

  • Network folder opens/closes/disappears/reappears on its own (really)!

I have an external drive hanging off my Airport Extreme and accessed wirelessly. I just created a new folder on the drive to save some files I want to share with another machine on my local network. I copied some files to it (which didn't appear in Finder, then did appear. Wierd I thought. Now I'm seeing the following behavior:
    - Open the network drive in Finder; Folder is at root level.
    - Every few seconds, the folder does the following;
1 Folder Name switches from all upper (the way I created it) to lower case
    and back again.
    2 Folder disappears and reappears.
    - Goto 1
    - In addition, if I open the Folder (either with the turny triangle or by double clicking), the folder will open, display the contained files list, and then close itself and repeating the behavior above. I've never seen anything like this before. This Folder is the first I created on the network volume since "upgrading" to SL. All my software, system and otherwise, is up-to-date.
I'm starting to wish I had followed my usual policy of not updating to a new version of anything until it had some shake-out time and a maintenance update.
    Any ideas?

both my mbp's ( clip ) within 24" of the AE.
That close? No walls, rabbit cages or steel plates, then I guess
Got to wonder if they are now stepping on each other somehow.
What channels/freqs. have you tried so far? Any bluetooth in operation with each other? Can you see any change if you take any cell phones out of range. Any new garage door openers or new neighbors?
I understand your apparent concern that this is totally new and unique to the 10.6.1 install somehow breaking an apparently stable configuration - just be sure to check the basics as you go, and try to only make one change at a time. Don't let your suspicions blind you to any suspects, etc. Troubleshooting modern electronics can be a real time waster, I know

Oh, a directory. That would require a different approach, yes.
If you want to make use of appserver's default file browser and the appserver's directory index setting is turned on, then just add the following to server.xml:
<Context docBase="c:/path/to/folder/you/want/to/publish" path="/pathyouwanttouseascontextrooturl" />This way you can start with directory browsing by http://example.com/pathyouwanttouseascontextrooturl

  • Maintaining folder structure in content server

    Hi,
There are times when we have a .swf object and associated xml files all in a particular folder structure and we need to maintain that in the content server because there wil be internal references.
Is there anyway in which we can store the folder structure in UCM and use paths like /images/test.swf instead of the httprelativewebroot url.
    Thanks
    John

I believe you typed that address into your browser to get that error message right?
You can use webdav by opeing My Network Places (if on windows) and clicking Add new Place.
Follow the steps and when it asks for Internet or network address - http://localhost/idc/idcplg/webdav of course replacing "localhost/idc" with your server name and instance name.
Then you should be able to browse that folder you just setup. It might ask you to log in depending on how you have your security setup.
    Then drag and drop away.
If you aren't on windows you might want to google connecting to webdav for your operating system.

  • HT2729 How can I maintain folder structure when copying more than 1 folder of videos to the iphone?

Spent hours trying to figure this out - no luck!
I have a video tutorial course that I would like to be able to view on my iPhone, the only problem is that it is broken down into 6 folders - 1 for each subject.
And if I add the whole course to be synced via iTunes it gets copied ok. But it loses the original folder names that the files are stored in on my PC
ALL the videos files copied to the iPhone are bunched togeather in the Video app and it takes forever to figure out which one comes next.
How can I maintain the original folder names/structure that the files are stored in on my PC on the iPhone?

To follow how I solved this it might be good to know what I started with:
    I have a main folder which I called 'Music Theory' and  6 sub-folders: 101, 102, 103, ....etc.
with up to 20 or so videos in each one.
Note: Only import one sub-folder at a time into iTunes and then do all the following actions BEFORE importing the next sub-folder:
Add only 1 sub-folder to the 'Films' section in iTunes (either drag and drop or use the File - Add Folder to Library).
Select all the imported videos (hold down the Ctrl + A keys on the keyboard simultainiously).
Right click and select 'Get Info'
Then you may get a pop-up with this text but just click the 'Yes' button:
You should now have the 'Multiple Item Information' window showing. Click on the 'Options' tab and edit as below:
Tick: 'Media Kind'               and from the Drop Down Box choose:  'TV Programme'
Tick: 'Part of a Compilation'   and from the Drop Down Box choose: 'Yes'
Tick: 'Remember Position'        and from the Drop Down Box choose: 'Yes'
Now click on the 'Video' Tab of the 'Multiple Item Information' window and edit:
The 'Programme' text field (I entered Music Theory) This will be the main heading for all the folders that I want to add to this series.
The 'Series' text field (I entered 101 for the first sub-folder)
    Now click the 'OK' button.
iTunes now starts processing all you have done and moves the vildeos to the 'TV Progammes' section.
The first part is now done!
Now you should repeat all the actions you have done from the start on each sub-folder you want to include in this Video collection, then when you've done that you can upload the lot to your device (iPhone in my case) with this last step:
All you need to do now is select your device under 'Devices' in the left hand menu and tick the 'Sync TV Progammes' box in the 'TV Progammes' section and select the series that you want include in the right hand area. And then click 'Apply' and now your done!!!    :-)
