Maintain multiple address books on my iphone

What is the best way to maintain multiple address books on my iphone ?  One for work and one for Personnal use?

Actually you can have multiple address books, 1 for each internet account you have......(This is kind of a work around)
For each email you have you can have an address book for that account. This is a great way to create some separation.
To add each email see: Add an email account on your iOS device
Last step, make sure you turn on "contacts" for each email.
So for example I have a yahoo email, and 2 gmails (one work and one for volunteer). What I do is as I meet people from each arena I put their contact info in their appropriate address book. So all of my clients are in the gmail account thats attached to my google voice # that they call. My volunteer contacts are in that gmail account, personal one in Yahoo account.
Here's the tedious part: In order to put them in each specific address book you have to go to that address book on the internet and input contact info there. So for my clients I log into google contacts for that email address and i add them to that address book. From there it automatically appears in my phone in the right address book.
Now when I'm searching for a contact (and its not a client) i just uncheck the gmail address book and this contacts don't show....
**What i'm looking for is a way to be able to add them to each address book directly from the iPhone**

  • Multiple Address Book entries from iPhone

When I add a single contact using iPhone (3GS, Ver 4.1) as it syncs to MobileMe, anywhere from 1 to 9 additional copies of the exact same contact card are created. Of course they’re propagated throughout my various Macs and iPad, as well as MobileMe.
This does not happen when adding a contact to the iPad or any of the 4 Macs I’ve got synced to MobileMe to keep my calendar and address books up to date.
Does anyone else have this issue, and if so, what’s the fix?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

Yes ... I am experiencing the same issue. Seems no matter how I adjust the iPad preferences, I continue to get multiple entires in my address book.
I do not get multiple entries in my macBook or my iPhone.

  • Address book oddities with iPhone 4S, Lion & MacBook?

Maybe this is an iPhone issue, but: Have any of you been having problems with losing addresses out of Address book both on the latest versions of Lion, MacBooks and iPhones? I've been very successfully using an iPhone 3 and earlier versions of the OS, but when I upgraded to both a new 4S and MacBook i7, I've been plagued with address book entries showing up fine on the Macbook Pro but not on the iPhone after a sync. I'm NOT using iCloud yet, but this has become frequent and frustrating. I've even tried overwriting during Sync my entire iPhone address book with the one from my laptop, but I still can't get some of my contacts to show up on the iPhone. For example, all my family members with the same name as I am, do not show up on the phone after syncing with the laptop, where I can see them fine. It's very frustrating. After the latest sync, all my 'favorites' on the iPhone have vanished.
I see that others have had this problem in the past with MobileMe. But I'm not using either that or iCloud. iCloud is only being used for 'Find my iPhone". Nothing else.
Any suggestions? Or do you need more info?

Just an update, I reset my phone to factory defaults, reloaded everything, and the problem still continues, albeit with less entries vanishing. Also, I still have no problems on my Macbook that this is syncing to. So is anyone else experiencing lost address book entries on iPhone 4S?

  • How do I delete "prefix" in Address Book on my iPhone?

When I imported Address Book to my iPhone, it also imported my prefix field. When I receive a known phone call or I am searching for a contact, all I can see is "Mr. and Mrs...." in the screen. Certainly I need the prefix for my Macbook when writing letters, address labels, etc., but not in my iPhone. I cannot seem to find a satisfactory way to delete the prefix on my iPhone.
I did think about making a copy of AB and then deleting the prefixes, but even that seems difficult as (so far) the only way I can make that work is my deleting each prefix, individually. I have a thousand contacts and that seems awfully laborious. Finally, I'm not even sure how I could merge that into iPhone without screwing up my original Address Book. I can only imagine the **** I would create if I lost all my prefixes.
    Thanks!

    Hi Tom
Maybe you have solved this problem by now. I am having an issue importing contacts into the handsfree phonebook on my car. All the entries with a prefix are arranged together by the prefix and not the surname. The only workaround I have come up with is to erase the the information in the prefix field and place the prefix information in the First Name field (copy>paste>delete). Not ideal but at least everything is arranged by surname in my car which is what I need. Very clumsy for voice activated calls but at least I can find entries in my car phone book now and re-creating my address labels was straightforward.

  • I have business and personal e-mail accounts with different contacts. Can I have more than one address book on my iPhone?

I have business and personal e-mail accounts with different contacts. Can I have more than one address book on my iPhone?

Set up an additional user account and use one for work and one for personal stuff - each will have a separate address book. Turn on fast user switching for easy switching between the two.

  • Multiple address books and/or Editing multiple address book entries

Two questions from a neophyte to Address Book:
    1) Is there any way to make a "bulk change" to multiple entries in an address book (e.g. Add the text "Bob's friend" to the notes section of all the contacts in a selected group, or add the note "family" to a selected set of contacts?
Perhaps there is a way to use Automator for this? or AppleScript?
    2) Is there a way to create multiple address books (short of creating multiple user accounts and logging in and out) to separate, for example business contacts from personal ones? Or perhaps is there a way to add a field to a template that allows one to categorize a contact as personal, business, school, retail, Sharon's friend, etc?
    Please lend me your ideas!

    Welcome to the discussions, Rangely.
    1) Yes, certainly, Applescript is ideal for this. See below for a simple sample. You can see which features of AB are accessible by using Script Editor to open AB's dictionary.
    2) Well, you could, but AB assumes its database is in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, so you could have several parallel AB folders and swap them around as needed - but you can't do it from inside AB. It is much simpler to use the feature that suits the job - groups of contacts. As well as simplicity this has the advantage that details of someone who is business, school and Sharon's friend need only be stored once, as a contact can be in multiple groups.

  • How do I download my address book from my iphone to the bluetooth in my Mercedes GLK?

I can't get my car to accept my address book from my iPhone.  I hate the idea of having to hand enter all the numbers and names.

iSync is not included in Lion. You can copy it from a 10.6 installation, and it will probably work.

  • Address Book entries on iPhone won't dial

    Hi!
I can't call out using phone numbers that were entered into Address Book using my iPhone. Attempting to call out starts a new text message instead.
I've rebooted my phone several times. I've manually entered my time zone city, date and time. I've ensured that "Show caller ID" is on. I've deleted and recreated contacts. Nothing works.
I have this problem whether using wifi or 3GS, even with 4 bars.
Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

(Thanks for your response. Sorry for the long delay in replying.)
Changing the international assist settings had no effect. (And shouldn't. They're all local numbers.)
Deleting the number in the contact and re-entering it didn't work. Syncing with my laptop didn't work.
Creating a brand new contact on my laptop and syncing it with my iPhone *did* work.
I'm still unable to call any number that I enter into Address Book on my iPhone. All attempts open a text message form.
Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Maintain multiple address for vendor

User purchase article from vendor A at addess#1 but returned article back to vendor A via address#2. Vendor has 2 different departments handling delivery and returns.
How can I configure 2 adddress for the same vendor code?
If I had to used a partner function, what suggested partner function should I used?
My PO order entry currently only accept vendor code.
Suppose I need to add in a partner, like sold-to and ship-to in SD, is there a way to configure the screen?
    Where do I do it.
    Thanks
    bye

    Hi Colin,
What is the bussiness reason for multiple addresses for the same vendor?
If the vendor maintains several different physical locations at different addresses, then they should be created as different vendor master records. Then, if they all use the same payment office, they can be partnered to the same invoicing vendor.
If you need to add a seperate address for the supplier location, payment location, billing location, etc, then you must create each of them using the correct account group and use partnering to tie them all together.
Also, there is a way to maintain multiple addresses for the same vendor - but this is used for maintaining different international versions of the same address. (See the international button) - which requires some configuration in central address management.
    Or,
Go for one-time-vendor concept else it is not possible .
    Also,
Partner function can be used to maintain different address.
This is the advantage of keeping the partner function in vendor account groups.
You create different vendor codes for different addresses and assign the same.
    Regards,
    Rahul.

  • Once Mac address book synched from iphone and contacts deleted they won't resynch back

I have a problem and have spent hours researching but to no avail
    1. I got a new iphone 4S and put in my mail info from yahoo, gmail and low and behold I had a contact list now in my phone. I thought, "I just love Apple!"
    2. I spent all afternoon on my iphone updating my contact list with contact photos, birthdays and all the stuff I never put in on my email program or my MacPro Leopard mac addressbook.
    3. With trepidation, I synched via usb with itunes my contacts and suddenly I had 3 (or more versions of my contacts on every site or device).  To see what was going on (as I wasn't sure if my mac would erase iphone contacts or add to them etc) I tried putting a test contact "iphone test" on my phone, yahoo test on my yahoo account, and mac test contact on my laptop address book, and gmail test in my gmail's contacts, and synched again.... For the most part every test contact showed up everywhere (not yahoo test in gmail's account mind you)
    4. GREAT I thought. I will just DELETE the contacts in the mac address book, yahoo, gmail accounts, fix my iphone duplicate contacts so I have one perfect set on the iphone and resynch and I should have my iphone contacts filling in all the right places (yahoo, gmail, and mac address book from the iphone) and they will all now be identical... SO WRONG!
    5. None of the prior contacts would sync. Only new contacts will synch (ones that were never before synched, ie, a new iphone test contact WILL show up in my Mac address book but the other 100 won't (apparently the computer knows they were already synced or something.)
I am now left with all my contacts on my phone and none in my computer! I have synched in itunes about 10 times with "contacts" checked trying different settings for yahoo, gmail but no source will retake my iphone contacts now that it was synced and the mac address book deleted...
    Can anyone help???

Thanks for your timely response. I really appreciate the heads up on the My Contacts Backup App since when you have gone from 4 copies of contacts to one you are starting to feel insecure...
Unfortunately, after following this to a "T" (2x) no luck... The mac address book was empty to begin with so I added three new contacts, synched  and then started from there...
I unchecked the sync box and synched. Deleted 2 of the 3 contacts and checked the "sync contacts"--all contacts (I have no groups). It synched without prompting me for a merge and the new single contact did not show up in the iphone... bummer. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
SORRY, I ACCIDENTALLY GAVE MYSELF HELPFUL POINTS AND THEY WERE FOR RANDERS4....

  • How to: Multiple Address books in Leopard?

Hi guys Is it possible to have multiple Address books in Leopard without having to switch users?
I need one for personal use and one for business use and if it's not possible with apple address book Is there a osx address book application that would allow me to do that?
    Thanks

It is, however, possible to label entries as either business or personal and then create two groups. Place all business labeled entries in one group and all personal labeled entries in the other group.

  • Multiple Address Books

Is there a way to have multiple address books?
I would like to have one for "work" but do not want to put over 2000 addresses to my private one (for having a work "group")

    Michael Superczynski wrote:
A group for work contacts is a perfectly viable solution.
It might have been a viable solution if only the groups in Address Book were hierarchical, i.e if one could have e.g 50 groups in a Work "master" group, and 50 other groups in another Private "master" group, etcetera.
I currently find it difficult to deal with Address Book simply because I need and want to have many groups, many of them representing a list of people I have sent a group mail to, others representing other form of groups.
