Maintain Original JPG Numbers on LR Processed Files

How do I maintain the same image numbers (e.g., IMG_1234) from my original JPGs onto my LR processed JPGs when I save them via "Print to File"? Lightroom wants to renumber them consecutively starting with 001. I need to keep their original digital number (which may not be consecutive) so that I can reference them back to the original photos.

You can’t with Print to File.
The files you are printing to correspond to pages, and in the general case there can be multiple photos per page so it doesn’t make sense for LR to use an image name since there could be more than one image name associated with one page.  Also, since they are pages, people number then in the order they are to be in a book of some sort.
Is there a reason you’re not just Exporting rather than Printing to create copies of your images?

  • How to maintain original lines when converting a word file in a PDF

    Unfortunately the table lines often change when converting a word file in a PDF, e.g. dotted/broken lines into straight lines or different kinds of broken lines. How can I maintain the original lines when converting the documents?
    Many thanks in advance for your advice.
    Li Li

    Hello,
    Ok, this is the background.
    I’m a publisher. Any document to end user will go as pdf. And off course it preserves the word appearance. We ship our manuals only in pdf.  At this point my end users have to copy the “CODES” into his editor to run the product.  So when doing it, the “Codes” copied from pdf to his editor loses its format.  Editor need not be the actual one; you can also test in a notepad.
    P.S: You can find the difference by copying the code from word to notepad and pdf to notepad
    Hope you now understood the purpose what I’m looking at for.

  • How to delete raw files while keeping original jpgs/later versions?

    I'm using Aperture currently, which apparently can't do this -- if Lightroom can, I'm switching.
    What I'd like to do is shoot everything in raw + jpg (using Nikon D200), and then keep the raw files only for the important shots.
    I really like having the option of raw processing, but the storage demands are obviously very big. If I could just make a selection of multiple photos, and have a command to delete all the raw files from the selected photos, while keeping the original jpgs, that would be great.
    Also, it would be great to be able to manipulate a raw file, and then when I'm satisfied with the image, to generate a full-size jpg & ditch the raw file. The jpg then becomes the master for that image.
    Basically, I want the raw file safety net for everyday images, without gobbling up gigabytes of disk space every time...
    Can Lightroom do this?

    I am unable to hide RAW files in Bridge.
    And I can't delete or rename them in Windows Explorer.
    I'm using XP SP3.
    Rejected RAW files appear in Bridge as unlabeled files. They are not hidden. "Show Hidden Files" is not checked; "Show Reject Files" is NOT checked. I've got the Label settings on. I created a subfolder and moved a batch of rejected RAWs there. They still show up, but at least they're labeled "Rejected."
    Delete: I have a big sort to do, and I'd even be willing to delete these RAW files to avoid seeing them in Bridge.
    I tried deleting them in Bridge using several methods, but I get an error message that tells me I don't have the "sufficient permissions." This happens even when I try to delete just one file.
    I also tried deleting them in Windows Explorer. There, I got an error message that theyare in use by another program. I cannot re-name them in Explorer either. I got the same error message even when I shut down my computer and opened ONLY Windows Explorer. In Properties > File Attributes, neither Hidden or Read-Only are checked.
    This is a big and important project, and I'm TOTALLY STUMPED!

  • How do I recover the original jpg photo files from my computer? They are embedded in the iPhoto Library and I cannot see the actual file.

    I am trying to locate the original jpg or photo files that I uploaded from my camera. I know that the photos are there, because they show up in my iPhoto Library. Where can I go to find the original file ex: DSCN1242.jpg or OLM4564.jpg ?

    Select the photo in iPhoto and use the command "File > Export" and set the "Kind" in the Export panel to "Original". That will write a copy of the original to a folder you can access in the Finder.
    The command "File > Reveal in Finder" will show you the original inside the iPhoto Library, but you must not access the files this way. If you access them from other apps using the Finder, you will corrupt your library.

  • Batch processing: save processed file with same name to different location without moving the original

    Hi, I would like to denoise Voice Over files with help of Auditions Batch Process. However, I have to save the files with the same name as the original, so that I can simply relink them in Premiere. Since I do want to keep the originals, I would like to save the processed files to a different location.
    Unfortunately, Batch Processor adds " Copy" to the processed files and moves the originals along with the processed files to the new folder (causing Premiere to loose the original files).
    Can I achieve my goal with Batch Processor, and how would I have to configure it?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

    Which version of Audition are you using? The latest ones allow you to specify where the batched files are saved and also if any Prefix or Postfix are added to the file name. These are all under Export Settings in the Batch Process pane. However you must have the Export box ticked to give you access to the settings.

  • UIImage and original jpg file data

    Hi,
    i've encountered a strange behaviour in my iphone app that i didn't expect when using UIImage.
    I would really need your expert help.
    Assuming i have a jpg file (lets say.. somewhere in my app sandbox).
    I load the image to UIImage using - UIImageInitWithContentsOfFile.
    After that i use the UIImageJpegRepresentation and NSData object to write the image back as a file.
    when i compare the original jpg file to the new one i just saved i see that the images are NOT the same !
    Well, they look the same, but when i take a close look at both images i see a drastic change in the image's data (such as color space differences).
    So, my question is - every time i use the UIImage object the original jpeg file data will be replaced when i write back to disk the same image ?
    Isn't there a way to pass through the UIImage object but obtaining the EXACT same jpeg as a result ?
    will my jpeg file data will change everytime i use UIImage ?
    my app is really depended on jpg data consistency and i would like to know if that's possible..
    please... need help.
    thanks.

    Hi,
    thanks.
    i still don't understand - is it possible to hold the jpeg data as raw data of an image which was picked using the ImagePickerController (i.e an image from the photo library). as i understand, since the picker controller gives me back an UIImage, the original jpeg data of the image file (the image from the photo library) is not available anymore because the UIIMage representation of the image is a bitmap (which means the photo library image was decompressed to be held by the UIImage).
    what i really need is to hold the original jpeg raw data of the jpeg file of the image that was picked from the photo libray. it seemed to me that after i get the UIImage from the controller and save it to my sandbox as a jpeg, the original image from the photo library and the new saved image are not the same in terms of size and color space.

  • Trouble maintaining original "date taken" info and metadata when exporting TIFFs from original CR2 files.

    When exporting TIFFs (from original RAW), I noticed my metadata said the "date created" was the day of export. I want to be able to access the date the original image was taken as opposed to the day I exported it. Is there a way to maintain original date of image taken in my info? I couldn't seem to find it after I exported my TIFFs...

    I just tested this with LR 5.5 Mac OS 10.9.3 and it works correctly for me.
    To troubleshoot your problem:
    1. Which version of LR and which platform (Mac, Windows)?
    2. Which tool or command are you using to examine Date Created of the exported TIFF?
    3. Upload a sample TIFF showing the problem to Dropbox or similar and post the URL here. This will allow us to take a look in detail.

  • How to bring a .jpg into an open PSD file as a layer & smart object

    Note: Posted in MAC section also.
    Goal:
    Using a script - Bring a .jpg an artist chooses, into Photoshop in an existing project into its own layer, and make it a smart object.
    This way, when the artist double-clicks on the smart object in Photoshop, it opens the original .jpg
    Currently, doing this creates a new window and file - a temp file, called xxx.psb.
    Photoshop does this by default to prevent destructive editing.  However, in this case, we purposely want to open the original.
    Why?  the .jpg files are approved art by the organization.
    Here is the script I did and have working in JavaScript.  (Has to be js because it will run on MAC's)
    Currently, it creates a NEW file.  I want it, however to create the SO as a layer in the existing open file.
    In JS: (has to be js for MAC's)
    var idOpn = charIDToTypeID( "Opn " );
        var desc4 = new ActionDescriptor();
        var idnull = charIDToTypeID( "null" );
        desc4.putPath( idnull, new File( "C:\\Users\\jleahy\\Desktop\\JPG_Meeting.jpg" ) );
        var idsmartObject = stringIDToTypeID( "smartObject" );
        desc4.putBoolean( idsmartObject, true );
    executeAction( idOpn, desc4, DialogModes.NO );

    I'm half way there, but stuck at:
    Getting a file location reference when the .jpg is first brought into PS as a layer.
    Getting a script to write the location of the file into the medata for the PSD in some field
    Reading back the metadata file location for the .jpg and bringing it back into the PSD again.
    Any help would really be appreciated.
    I can make the completed script(s) available when its complete, as this has possibilities for other uses, batch process, and more.

  • Keep Original Position Numbers in Purchase Order Creation

    Hi community, i'm trying to solve the following problem in purchase order creation using BAPI_PO_CREATE1:
    I'm loading a file with several order numbers and positions to be created in R/3. This file has a structure similar to:
    OrderNumber;PositionNumber;Material;Quantity;Unit;.......
    The purchase order is created successfully, but i need to keep original position numbers in the order. i.e:
    Supposing this input file:
    1900;08;993322;10.00;KG.....
    1900;13;994455;12.00;KG.....
    the positions in purchase order are created as
    00010
    00020
    But i need positions to be created as:
    00008
    00013
    Any ideas?????
    Thanks you for your cooperation
    Leonardo

    Hi Leonardo,
       I doubt if that is possible.
    You can have the configuration set up to set the Item Number Interval to  step size like 5,10,15 etc,
    based on this value, your line item number will be
    5,10,15,20...
    10,20,30,40..
    15,30,45,60
    etc.
    to set this value, you should go to SPRO.

  • Concurrent processing & file.renameTo(...)

    Hi,
    I've can successfully move a file in the single thread/process environment using file.renameTo
    However in the multithreaded/multiple process environment, the initial file is several MB (about 100mb). It is created on the fly outside of my thread and takes several minutes to build.
    I would like to rename it after the file is finished building.
    In my code I do the following:
    boolean success = false;
    while (! success)
    success = inputFile.renameTo(dest);
    QuickSleep(1500); // Performs a Thread.sleep in a try/catch
    I've seen some weird behavior however. On a windows box the renameTo seems to return false if the other process is still writing to the file. However on linux the .renameTo is returning true even though the file hasn't finished building.
    The end result on linux is I end up with two files. One that got renamed and is partially filled and the other original with the rest of the file.
    Is there a way to know when the file isn't being written by another process/thread?
    Thanks in advance.

    if by now you still have the problem (FYI this is working on AIX) have a look at my solution:
    for (int i = 0; i < dir.listFiles().length; i++) {
    try {
         Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("/usr/sbin/fuser " + dir.listFiles().getAbsolutePath());
         p.waitFor();
         InputStream in = p.getInputStream(); // we have to read the stream to verify if there is a process id
         int c = in.read();
         String stream = "";
         while (c != -1) {
              stream = stream + (char)c;
              c = in.read();
         if (stream.trim().length() > 0) {
              logger.info("File: " + dir.listFiles()[i] + " is in use by process ID:" + stream);
              try {
                   Thread.sleep(5000); //sleep for 5 sec
              } catch (InterruptedException e){
                   // the VM doesn't want us to sleep anymore,
                   // so get back to work
              continue;
    } catch (Exception e) {
         logger.error("fuser exception: " + e.getMessage());

  • How to process files one by one using sender file adapter

    Hi,
    I have to process file one by one using my file adapter (sender), because while doing the G/R materials get locked, if the same materal exist in other files.
    I have maintained QOS as "Exactly Once in Order" & processing Sequence as "by date".
    Processing sequence come in which tab? What will be the Queue name?
    Thanks,

    It will come under Processing tab
    Here you need to select the first parameter QOS  as EOIO
    Then QUEUE name and processing sequence will be enabled.
    NOTE: This will work only for NFS protocol not for FTP.

  • XML Newbie - Help Processing Files!

    I'm not exactly sure if "process" is the right word, so I'll describe what I mean. There are two XML files (http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/xmlfeed.asp and http://208.138.39.112/XMLLineFiles/Baseball.xml) that are constantly updated online, and I want to be able to compare certain numbers in the two files.
    Problem is, I really have no clue where to begin. I've heard that you can import XML into Microsoft Excel, but it can only refresh once every minute. Ideally I'd be able to compare the files almost constantly (like every 5 seconds or something). What are my other options? I don't really know any computer programming (besides a minimal amount of C), so I would really appreciate any help, just pointing me in the right direction.
    Thanks for any help!

    Your best option would be to hire a programmer to do that work.
    It's possible you could spend a few months learning the skills, but why bother when you could hire a programmer who could get it done in a day?
    By the way, refreshing once every minute is what you want to do, not every five seconds. Besides the fact that it took me at least 15 seconds just to download those two pages, one of them says
    "2. Do not read the feed more than one times per minute."

  • MDM Inbound Port Not Processing Files

    Dear Experts,
    I got an issue while processing file from Ready folder of a specific Inbound Port where files are not processed then i tried with another inbound port of the same repository there it is working fine. Can anybody please help me out to make it work.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
    Make sure the user ID that you are using for the auto imports in the mdis.ini file has sufficient rights for that particular port. If thats not there the file would not autoimport.
    You could even try importing the file manually using import type as port. This will help you identify if there any problems in the file and its schema that you trying to import.
    Also check if the port is set to automatic and the schema and map is maintained correctly.
    Another thing that you could check in the console is the port status. If there is a file in the ready folder it must display has data. Or if a file in the exception folder it must then show blocked on exception if you have set that property to yes.
    In cases when it does not show if afile present or not,you need to make sure the directory path mentioned in the mdis.ini file is correct. Also you would need to restart the importserver through the services and check again.
    If nothing works try deleting the port and recreating it through the console.
    Regards,
    Aditya Dhurandhar.
