Use of safety stock :
Safety stock
Specifies the quantity whose purpose is to satisfy unexpectedly high demand in the coverage period.
The risk of shortfalls is reduced by having a safety stock.
Procedure:
With manual reorder point planning, you can enter a value in the material master record. However, it is merely for information.
With automatic reorder point planning and forecast-based planning, the system determines and adjusts the value automatically for forecasting purposes.

Dear Chentan,
No you cannot maintain Plant specific number ranges. WHat you can do is create seperate Customer account groups (SH, SP, BP, PY) for each Plant & assign unique number rages to eacg group.
But the above is recomended only if you have couple of plants say 2 or 3 plants. If you have multiple plants then it would to confusions. Also the standard system would not give Customer's outstanding Plant-wise & it can only give company code wise.
Thus having seperate Customer's number range for each plant does not seems to be much beneficial...

Equipment number ranges are defined at client level. Probably what I could suggest is to create new equipment category for different plants and for that you can assign different number ranges.

Forecast execution is resetting safety stock

I have MRP set up for CBP (VV MRP Type). I maintain a static safety stock value. When I run my forecast, without changing the forecast model or any other forecast values, the system resets the safety stock to zero. I'm struggling to figure out what is causing this. Just a stab in the dark, but can the 'reset automatically' flag have something to do with this behavior?

Safety stock caluculation

Hi
The issue is even though I have suffiecient stock still PRs are generating.I want to know why this PRs are generating.
I suspect this is because of safety stock.I have maintained Safety Days' Supply 22,Safety Stock Method SM (Max.of Safety Stock and Safety Days'Sup.from Loc.Prod.Master).
Please let me know how this safety stock caluculation works.

Rather than explain, let me just say that if it is your goal to have PRs never exceed requirements, then you should not maintain anything in Safety stock at all. That is the whole purpose of Safety stock, to generate extra proposals to meet a particular business requirement.

Plant specific vendor data

In vendor master is it possible to maintain plant specific data for a vendor below the company code & Purchasing Org level?

In addition to the data that is valid for a purchasing organization, you can maintain certain purchasing data or partner roles on a plant-specific or vendor-sub range-specific basis (for example, terms of payment or Inco terms that differ from those applicable to the purchasing organization as a whole).
It is not possible to create all purchasing data in the vendor master record as different data. Certain data, such as the Subsequent Settlement indicator, can only be maintained at the purchasing organization level. However, there is certain important data that can only be created at plant level
The data retention levels that are provided below the purchasing organization are defined in Customizing for the account group. The relevant setting is merely a default value. If no organizational levels below the purchasing organization are provided as data retention levels for purchasing, you can nevertheless create different data for other plants or vendor subranges in the vendor master record via Extrasu2192Add. Purchasing Data.

Shall v maintain price control for material type with plant specific ?

Hi
if you do not make the indicator Price control manadatory active then you can have different price indicator for each plant. However thsi indicator is never done plant specific. If you wish to have plant specific then you may have to have a new material type and again you need to control the MM01 creation for that particular plant by means of Authorisation control which is littel involved also but can be done.

Hi,
Execute t-code se16, then enter MARC table and press enter. Enter list of materials or plants or this can be run without any selection parameter.
Execute it and look for field EISBE (Safety stock).

No planning file entry for safety stock

hello!
i do not have a planning file entry for safety stock. my material has required safety stock and no quantity on plant stock. therefore MD01 should create a purchase requisition - but is does not. i do not have an entry in the planning file as well.
any ideas what could be the reason?

Hi,
- First of all check whether MRP is activated or not for Perticuller Plant.T.code is OMDU.
- Which MRP type is maintained for that material?
- In rare cases (Materials uploaded by LSMW using Badi) it is observed that system miss to make the entry in Planing File.So better will be set a Back Ground job to activate Planing file OMD0 or make manual entry using T.code MD20.

I need some help on the following: In the field Safety Stock (MARC-EISBE). It is possiblre to fill in this field without choosing a specific DC. Is it also posible to maintain this on a generic level (without giving the DC) and that this is copied to all the (relevant) DC's which are created for a specific material? At this moment it is not being copied to all the DCs.

Thanks for your response.
We want to maintain a Minimum Stock Level at various Storage Locations periodically. However the value is computed based on certain historical values (and not mere consumption). There is an industry logic which will compute this figure.
We need to find a solution to compute this figure as per logic and use it in MRP for planning along with other requirements (such as Reservations, Customer Orders, Forecast etc.,). Since the count of parts and associated historical values are quite high, computing this offline is tedious.
Is there a better way to address this without Z - Devpt.?
I can provide any other info if reqd.

What MRP type are you using? If stock falls below the safety stock, there will be a procuremet proposal for the same (internal or external) if you have mainted the MRP type as VB, then system will plan the same when MRP is run at plant level.
So please check your MRP parameters & monitor the stock level in MD04.

I need to get safety stock , stock in transit and free stock as apperaing in the planning book , i dbugged the planning book and i find one funtion module which is using the live catche concept by passing some memory id. is there any funtion module or bapi is available by passing the product , plant and market can i get the stock.or else pls let me know the table name of the above stock is maintained.

try using BAPI_STSRVAPS_REQUESTLIST2 to read the stock
not sure if all the stock figures will appear in it (safety stock is a calculated KF and may not be picked up here)
BAPI_PBSRVAPS_GETDETAIL2 shoudl give you the planning book details including the safety stock
if you can see it in the planning book and it is a time series KF you can extract it using this

NEGATIVE STOCK:
Negative stock function used when you want to post Goods Issue quantity that larger than the book quantity.
For example: you have stock of material A000 = 90 qty and you want to Goods Issue with 100 qty.
Negative stock function is not relevant for the procurement, It can only use for the excess qty issue to to the production than stock qty. System will not create PR .
You need to do configuration setting to use this function.
Cust: In customizing negative stock are must allow for a valuation area, Plant and Storage location level.
In addition you can set the special stock at plant level such as
Consignment
Material provided to vendor
consignment stock at customer
sales order stock
project stock
returnable packaging with customer
returnable transport packaging
Application: The indicator for negative stock is with the storage data in the material master mast be maintained.
Note: It is possible for unrestricted use and blocked stock only.
With the standard price, There are no special features to the negative stock. But with the Moving average price , a price diff account can be posted to when goods are received.
STOCK BELOW SAFETY STOCK.
The Safety stock should cover any excess material consumption that may occur during the replenishment lead time as well as the normal requirements when deliveries delayed.
The Safety stock is therefore part of reorder point.
You do not required any special setting to use safety function. Just need to maintain the safety stock level in the material master.
If stock reduce below safety stock, system will create procurement proposal i.e Planned order or Purchase requisition.
