Maintainance of Infopackage, process chains, BI hierachies in BI production

Hi,
I wish to create & maintain infopackage, process chains, BI hierachies BI production server.
If the production server is not open for changes then how do i maintain these changes in production.
Please advise.

Dear Deepak,
In many Comp's Transports will be happening in a weekly basis or monthly basis, then if you want to use the objects urgently:
In production system you can create and maintain Infopackges, no issues.
Also you can create Manual hierarchies for any InfoObject.
For process chains best thing to do is go to RSPC go to unassigned chains you can find either process chains which are created and not being used or Test process chains, which can be edited.
Remove the processes from unused or waste chains and add Ur DTPs etc., so that Ur chain can be created. Assign that chain to Ur component in RSPC.
And the other option is you can create new chain in Prod system itself if you have developer access.
If you can Transport Ur objects on daily basis period then create a new chain in Dev, Test in QA and ransport it PRD.

How to maintain layout of process chain ?

Dear all,
Is maintaining the layout of a process chain possible?
Since a complicated process chain will be in a state very hard to see with the automatic layout by a system,I am looking for the way of maintaining the layout of process chain.
Even if a layout is edited legible and it saves it in the edit mode of a process chain, a layout will be changed after coming out from an edit mode once and checks again.

Process chains can be created in Production server?

Friends,
I'm new to Process chains. We have 3 servers, Development, Testing and Production.
I want to know do we need to create process chain in Production server directly or we have to create in Development server and then move it to Test and then in to Production? Please suggest me.

Hello Joe,
Different people follow different ideas: You can make the chains directly in Prod and maintain them there, or you can also create in Dev and transport them. We maintain them directly in production. This point has been discussed many times in the forums...a quick search should help you get a lot more info.

Process chain start variant repaired in production

Hi
I took up tasks from our previous Bi team
I am told we have followed the regular process of DEV -- QA and PROD for all process chains
I see a strange observation in Production for a particular process chain in its start variant
It is shown to run as immediate in the start variant, in the detail view , but
it runs scheduled at a certain time every day, I can see the scheduled jobs released
I see that in production it is attached to a request in repaired status
process chain works fine and triggers regularly
I am unable to understand why it shows as immediate in the start variant and however runs on a regular schedule

1) why does the start variant of this META chain show up as immediate, when it is actually running scheduled ?
are you able to see the chain in green color(scheduled state).
when you right click on start process chain step and you have option to select display scheduled job?..if yes check the start condition by double click on job.
2)Does the change directly in production, could have brought in this behavior?
We can change the start condition of process chain, when right click on start variant and select display variant..here you can see last changed name
3) If , I re transport the whole META chain from DEV-QA --PRD , will the start variant change or will it cause trouble considering the fact that the start variant was repaired in PROD directly.
No need to transport again, if you know the start condition of process chain, edit the same in prod and save it.

Infopackage and process chain status

Hello expert,
I am new in BW technology and I need some help...
Well I have created a process chain in order to load data into infoprovider. This process chain is running everyday in production system, (it's a tipical PC: delete PSA request, run infopackage, run DTP....)
I have checked the last status of the process chain and it's yellow since two days ago... It was due a communication error between ERP and BW system, therefore (for some reason), the infopackages started but never ended (always yellow status).
So, my questions are:
1.- Is there any configuration for the infopackage to prevent yellow status (for more than X time)?
2.- Could we control it in a process chain?

Hi,
We can configure for infopackage incase of no records found however you can setup for time linmit.
You can set the status the request is to receive per InfoPackage in the Scheduler, via Scheduler Warning Handling. This setting overrides the system-wide setting.

The error which we are facing is as follows,

I think that if you expand the transport/import log further there will be a more detailed error message. Can you
check this? If yes can you let us know what the error message text and error code is? It might be the case that
the note 659160 is relevant for the problem.

External Email address in process chain alerting not fully displayed

Friends,
I have this weird problem and not sure if its a real issue.
I am maintaining messages for process chain failure alerting. I am using an external address and receipant type as "via Internet".
When I enter email id (ex: abc.123.xyz at mycompany.xxx) save it and come back, and If I re enter that screen the entered email is not fully displayed, few chars are truncated, (ex : abc.123.xyz@mycompan).
Can you guys please help me figure out what the issue is?
Is there any restriction on the length?

Urgent Issue - Copy DTP and Process Chains in New Client Instance

We have created new client Instance ( CLNT 510 ) based on our present client ( CLNT 500 ).
We have all the process changes, application components from source system CLNT 500 and data ( both for master and transaction data ) in place for the CLNT 500.
Now we need to use the CLNT 510 for our futher development. RFC connection has been established.
Just want to know, do we need to create all the Application component trasfer , Transformation, DTP , Infopackages , Process chains again for the CLNT 510 data.

We have company implementing mutiple SAP Implementations in different countries.
Client for BW Dev is 400.
Source system for Client BWD :
ECC Client ERP Dev - 500 ( for Holland Implementation )
ECC Client EPR Dev - 510 ( for German Implementation - Instance of ECC 500)
We are completed with the Client 500 implementation.
We are starting the german implementation and they have created a intance of Holland ECC Dev client 500 for german implementation with german data.
Now they have setup 2 rfc connection in BWD 400.
Also finally when they move to QAS client they are going to integrate the data of the both countries into one client.
Presenlty I need to use ECC client 510 client for our german development.
We have around 40 SAP BI reports in our first implementation. and around 10 in our second implementation.
Just want to know, what are issues to be considered in loading master data ( will it overwrite the master data from the client 500, if i extract the master data from client 510 )...and all the other issues like can I copy all the process chains...etc from client ECC 500 to ECC 510, without creating all transformation, DTP , Infopackages to load all the master from client 510 again.
I need a broad understand on how to go about the development ...starting with Application Components transfer from source system Client 510 ....to report development. ( if possible using the already created objects....infopackages , DTP etc..)

Hierarchy Process chain

I have created this process chain for hierachies. I transported it across.
Everything looks fine except that in the info pacakages the selection for the required Hierarchy does not appear ( radio button ). I transported the packages again but no effect .

Maybe the hierarchy to be loaded is not defined/active in the target system.

Process chain (RSPC) modifcation in Quality and production system

In our landscape quality and production system is set as non modifiable. But we want to modify the process chain (RSPC) in Quality and production system.
As per the thread Need input: do process chain/InfoPackages changeable on PROD in your compa? in RSA1 -> Transport connection we made RSPC ( Process Chain) , RSPT (process chain starter) and RSPV (process variants) are changeable.
With this setting we are able to create/ edit new process chain in Quality and Production system. But we canu2019t edit the transported Process chain. i.e. process chain transported from Dev to Quality system.
We donu2019t want to open Business Information Warehouse: Customer Namespace (/BIC/ ) in Quality and production system (Se06). Please let me know is there any other settings needs to be.
We are on BI 7.0

Process Chains Synchronization Approach in D, Q & P

Hi All
In our Project, we have requirement to Synchronize all the Process Chains across D, Q & P Systems.
This is due to the fact that most of the Process Chains were created directly in Production environment (About 50 Metachains with lot of local chains in them) & now there is requirement to replicate them in D & Q.
What is the best Approach for this with their Pros & cons-
a. Backtransporting all the Chains from P to D: What can be the issues/Risks associated with this approach
b. Creating all the chains again in D & transporting them to Q,P: With this approach, i see huge development effort apart from the fact that manual creation of DTP's/Infopackage would be required in D as they got created directly in P earlier.
We are on Release SAP BI 7.01 EHP1 SP04 Level.

Hi Swapnil,
Though it is tedious task, the best option would be to build the PCs in Dev and transpor it to Q and P.
The reason for this is we migh have dependencies on Infopackages and DTPs etc which are directly done in Production.
So all these objects after creation will be moved to Prod along with the PCs. It definitely requires lot of effort but will be the safest option.

Process chain issue in production server

I created the process chain to load the transaction data . Then i transported to Quality and Production server.
1) When i try to open the my process chain in RSPC in Production System. Then im not getting the process chain . But im getting black just.
But when i press 'change' button in Production Server then it says that "changes are carried out in original system" and then im getting my process chain .
2) When i try to schedule my process chain in production server then it asking for new transport request . Why it is like that . Once i transport the process chain from development server to production server. Then it shouldn't ask for new request.
Pls help in these secarios. I need urgent help .

Hi Kumar,
I don't know what the problem is but you can copy in PRODUCTION environment the process chain to a new one.
Please follow the steps:
1. Open the problematic process chain (display or change mode).
2. In the command line write the word "copy" .
3. A popup will appear, insert a new name for the new process chain and confirm.
4. The new process chain is now opened but it is not active yet.
5. Delete the "old" START event and insert a new one.
6. Activate and schedule the chain.
While activating the new chain, no transport request should appear in PRODUCTION.

Including System ID in the messaging of the process chain!

Can any one here tell me ,how to include the System ID ( i mean whether the system is development or production ) in the messaging system of the process chain? i had used email address in the messaging system.
i had included the message , but do not know how to include some texts or the system id of the respective System in the messaging service!
problem is i had included messaging system in both the process chains of the dev and production!
is there anyway for this?

Ravi,
By default, the system will include in the email a description of the problem, including the system where it was originated.
Another thing is including the System ID in the subject of the email.
Are you transporting the Process Chains or just creating them locally?
If you define the message variants for the Events Error or Success results locally, then you can type directly "DEV", "PROD" or the description you like, in the subject or the body of the message.
