Maintaing tables when client not modifiable

There is a field you can check on a table that allows the table to be modified when a client is not modifiable. Any help on how this is done would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Have a look at SAP note 77430 and 356483. They should provide the solution for your problem!

    Hi
Copy of the information I found regarding this issue:
It is possible to allow the maintenance of 'Customizing'-tables in a
production client, even if the client is set to 'not modifiable'.
Normally this should be the case for tables TCJ04 (responsible person)
    and TCJ05 (applicant).
Please could you check the settings in your system and change it if
    necessary:
    Transaction SE11:
Table TCJ04: delivery class should be set to 'C'
TCJ05: delivery class should be set to 'C'
    Transaction SOBJ -> Maintain
Position on V_TCJ04: Category should be 'CUST' field 'current settings'
    should be marked.
Position on V_TCJ05: Category should be 'CUST' field 'current settings'
Please also check that your client is defined as 'PRODUCTIVE' via
    transaction SCC4 (field client role).
I would also recommend that you review the attached notes with reference
to the usage of customizing setting "current settings": Nr. 77430,
Nr. 135028, Nr. 356483. These are also relevant for your release.
    Kind regards,

  • RE: Client Not Modifiable for Z Tables

    Hi all,
One of our developer created 3 custom Ztables, when he is testing in testing environment, he is able to modify 2 of them using SM30, but for one table it says "Client status not modifiable". i checked his profile and he got access to SM30 and also to S_TABU_CLI--> Allowed (X).
I dont know why it is not allowing this table to change and allows other tables to change ( I dont think this is any thing wrong with his authorization)
I also checked in SE11 and his delivery class is type "A" like the other 2 tables.
what else i need to check?
    thanks,
    Sun

There was a little bug in SOBJ a while ago which let you change the owner of the object in a development system without transporting. But that should be fixed - as it is simply not an option anymore, also in a production system.
The better (more transparent) option in my opinion is to use the current settings flag if these tables are going to serve a "customizing" type function of the application and you want the flexibility to change them system specifically within your landscape without having to transport it and not wanting to open the (productive or test) client just to make a change of something non-critical for the application.
But you need to pick and choose them carefully. There are also some other settings which you might want to tighten the control on - for example very application sensitive master data.
Now I don't know what these tables are used for, but you did mention S_TABU_CLI being required so they are even client independent (most likely)... at least as far as their maintenance is to be concerned.
As you are asking this in the security forum (and not the ABAP or Data Dictionary forums), you might want to review the technical design of this solution...
It is not unknown that the developer and customizing roles find their way to production and used there with reliance on the SCC4 client settings either, and as these are client dependent... what are the settings of the other clients and the authority of the users in them?
But that is up to you. Certainly training and experience helps as well (which includes learning the hard way
I prefer the current settings to the client settings where the "use case" is justified.
    Cheers,
    Julius
ps: The one table which could not be changed, was it being changed from a different client than the other two?

  • Maintain the values - Client 'Not Modifiable'

    Hi,
I have created a table Y1260. It has three fields namely MANDT, WERKS and FLAG.
I have given Delivery Class = 'C' and Maintainance allowed.
Under technical settings, Data Class = 'APPL2' and Size category as 0.
    Buffering is set 'OFF'.
Under Table Maint., Authorization Group is &NC&.
When I go to SM30 for maintaining the values, it is not allowing me stating that  .. Client 010 has status 'not modifiable'.
Please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You have given deleivery class 'C' which means customizing table, maintenance only by cust., not SAP import..
Try to change it to 'A'.

  • Client not modifiable

    Hello,
When i am executing the transaction code OAAQ in production server it is working fine but when i am trying in quality server it says client 100 is not modiable where as both client settings are same in QA and PROD in SCC4.
When i made QA as modiable manual and then it is working fine...
I would like to know is there any config setting becase of that it is not working or is there any problem Basis side
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Krushna biswal

    Hello,
I have found the solution for it.
If the client role is "PRODUCTION" in SCC4 then it work fine, if it is other than "PRODUCTIOn" role then we need to change to modifiable client then only it will work, otherise, "Client XXX is not modifiable" messge will occured.

  • Client not modifiable? Where to check first?

    Hello Guys,
Just want to check, if it says Client xxx not modifiable, should this mean client be set to Productive mode in SCC4? Or any other settings?

  • Starting Blend when client not connected to internet?

I've recently started experimenting with Blend with my Z30 and my laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise sp1; Blend Windows client v.1.1.0.17, Blackberry Blend app v.1.1.0.67 on the Z30.
One thing we'd like to do is to use it in places where we have no internet access other than through the mobile network on the Blackberry. Essentially tethering only for Blend.
Blend works fine if the laptop is connected to the internet, the Z30 connected to the mobile network, and the two are connected by USB. Once Blend is connected, I can then disconnect the laptop from the internet, but leave the phone connected to the laptop via USB, and Blend continues working without any problems, using only the mobile network.
However, if the laptop is not connected to the internet when I actually start Blend, I generally cannot get it to connect at all. I plug the Z30 into the laptop, start Blend, and it will go through Discovering, Connecting, Verifying Secure Connection, then end up with a "Can't Connect" message.
I say "generally" because Blend will connect if I try to do it within a very short time after disconnecting the laptop from the internet. It won't work, however, if, for example, I start up or resume the laptop somewhere where I don't have an internet connection for the laptop.
I'm guessing that the Blend client on the desktop does some initial verification prior to establishing the USB connection with the Z30 that requires an independent internet connection, and if it cannot do this it won't connect.
I also note that Blackberry Link on the laptop will crash if run when the laptop is not connected to the internet, and am guessing this might be related.
Can Blend be started when the only internet connection available is through the mobile network on the phone?
    -- BV

Following up on my earlier post; I also have a Playbook, and one of the most useful features is Blackberry Bridge, which provided similar functionality as Blend, though (only) over Bluetooth, and only between a Blackberry and the Playbook. Blend looks like it provides similary functionality, but on more devices, which is great.
Blackberry Bridge, however, does not require the Playbook to have an internet connection to work; I hoped Blend would work in the same way, thus my original post. FYI, I am a lawyer, and in my practice I am often at a tribunal or court where I do not have wifi access, and being able to use Blend to access my email and office intranet on the laptop would be a very useful feature.
I also note that Blend doesn't support Bluetooth; not a big deal, as a USB connection is fine, just curious. And I suppose that there is a good reason for the client requiring a separate internet connection, even if no one here seems to know why .

  • Modifying 0VTC and 0VRF trasnactions when client is not modifiable

    hi
we are uploading  0VTV and 0VRF transactions using a BDC logic. in development the change asks for a transport request. now when we moved into production the client settings in SCC4 are "client not modifiable" so we were not able to update the transactions.
how do i make my logic work without changing the SCC4 settings. i read about "current setting" in SPRO--> Define Routes and Stages->maint objects.  i have done this setting for both 0VTC and 0vrf. just make sure that this will solve our problem  we have made the development system SCC4 settings same as prod system ( client not modifiable). but still i am getting the client modifiable error.  is there any other setting i need to do or any thing wrong with the way i did the "current setting" setting. please let me know.
    thanks

    Hi,
I have a client who has a requirement to use these transactions as master data in production too.
Could you please share the OSS Note/s that can achieve this?
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

  • Table V_T5w8p Strategic Skills Priorities: Not Modifiable

    Hi All,
T5w8p table is populated with the Strategic Skills Priorities.
Each Skill Priority is linked to a Qualification (Q).
A relation ship exists between Qualification (Q) and Events (E).
These Q and E are captured in DEV Client. Each Client Thus has a unique number/keys.
    But here the QUESTION is.....
the table "V_T5w8p is not modifiable" in QA Client. Then how can i link the Unique number/keys to skills priority.

    No ..No...Siddesh,
You are understanding my requirement in reverse.
We are now not in execution of giving the access.
i regret, if i am failing to explain my requirement
    A Auditor wants
a). He wanted to know the users having S_TABU_DIS auth object with 02 value and assigned authroization groups.
b). He wanted list of tables including Z tables that can be maintained directly thru maintenance view
Auditor will do some excerse Directly Maintained Tables (vs) Authroized users
He will come back with a list of tables for which we have to give the logs.
I tried my best to explain my requirement.

  • Data not displayed in Z-table when material code (MATNR) entered in selection screen.

    Hi Experts,
I have a Z-table for a gatepass report which was already created by another developer. This table has many fields including plant, year, material code field. (MATNR) etc
Now the problem is in SE11, I run the table to display the entries, when I enter plant and year and execute many entries are displayed.properly including material codes(e.g.50008536).
But when I execute the same entering plant, year and material code(e.g.50008536) then this message is displayed. " No table entries found for specified key"
The same thing happens if I am writing a select query in my report to get the data of any particular material code. My internal table is not filled with the data including that particular material code.
    Some more info :
    1. The material code field in the Z-table is assigned the standard material code Data element. i.e. MATNR
    2. Even if I enter '000000000050008536' as input it is still not working. it is automatically changed to '50008536' after executing.
So please help me where the problem is? I have spent alot of time on this but not able to find the problem..
    Thanks,
    Vishal .

    Hi Vishal,
Hope I understand  that table content does not starts with zero for material, reply me if i am wrong.
Use this code before where condition.
    loop at so_matnr.
    CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT'
       EXPORTING
         INPUT         = so_matnr-low
      IMPORTING
        OUTPUT        = so_matnr-low.
    if so_matnr-high is NOT INITIAL.
    CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT'
       EXPORTING
         INPUT         = so_matnr-high
      IMPORTING
        OUTPUT        = so_matnr-high.
    endif.
    MODIFY  so_matnr.
    endloop.
if table content is filled with zero use  FM conversion_exit_alpha_input

    Venkat.

  • PA40 Client 007 'not modifiable'

    Dear Sir/Madam,
When I use pa40  to hiring someone, the system give me the message box which mentioned
    'Client 007 'not modifiable''.
But I think for master data maintain, system should not check the client's status.
Is there any suggestion to change it?
    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Yichao,
007 is defined to be the "SAP Reference" client through SCC4 transaction and "No changes allowed" & "No overwriting allowed" in the respective client.
Pls contact with your Basis people.

  • Client 000 has status not modifiable

    Dear all,
after installing ABAP and JAVA stacks I can normally
work in both system (NSP, J2E). I created a RFC function module via se37 to use it as a basis for a web service.
But when I try to release my web service for SOAP runtime using TA WSCONFIG I always get an error message:  <b>Client 000 has status not modifiable</b>...
Are there any restrictions or did I make a mistake?
    Thank you

    hi Harald,
Did you make a client copy after your ABAP installation? SAP doesn't allow you to work on 000 client. so you need to make a copy of 000 (say 111 or any other number)and continue to install your JAVA Stack on this CLIENT. i guess you had put your JAVA stack on 000 itself. that's the problem.
Just make a new client or "Client Copy". and Put a java stack on that client. Remove the old java stack. This should solve your problem.
    Regards
    Arun
