Maintaining Project Standards Across Multiple Projects
Hello,
Is there a way to maintain solman project standards in a template to apply to new projects or do they have to be manually configured for every new project?
Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephanie
IFAIK, what you are trying will not work following the servlet specification. I mean, each web application has its own "session manager", that's why sessions cannot be shared among several applications.
Maybe using propietary solutions.... Or... I have never tried, but using a "common" repository (a DB).
You would have to create a cookie attached to the whole server (path=/). Using this cookie, access to DB where common data would be stored.

How can I share a *.java source file across multiple projects in NetBeans?
I'm sure this simple and a pretty common operation but how can I share a *.java source file across multiple projects in NetBeans? Right now I keep cut, coping and pasting the same source file between multiple projects to re-use the same code. But I could I make this source file a library file or something like that so that I could access it from any project. I assume this would be a generic operation but I mentioned NetBeans for clarity. Thanks.

I know I mentioned NetBeans but I'm most interested in the generic method for creating a library of source files that I can call into whatever program I am developing. I've done such a thing in C using header files and such but I'm trying to get a direction on how this is accomplished in Java. I'm sorry if I could edit the title I would. If anyone wants to be specific about NetBeans I welcome that too.

Create a class library.
Write your code, compile it to .class files, put those class files in a .jar file and include the jar file in the classpath whenever you want to compile a project against it. -
Where to maintain project manager and Project details.
Hi Guys,
Whats the transaction or table to maintain project manager and project details.
Cheers
S KumarT Code OPS6 (table TCJ04). You maintain person responsible over here and then these values can be referred in project definition or WBS element.

MAintain session across multiple DB Adapters.
Hi,
I am using a BPEL process which has multiple DB Adapters.
As far as I understand each DB Adapter call from BPEL is a different session.
Is there any way to maintain a same session across multiple DB Adapter calls i.e to make multiple DB calls in the same session?
thanks,
CDYes this is supported.
You'll have to take a look at the support for XA (distributed transactions).
See this thread for some good links to other info.

Maintaining Transaction Across Multiple JSP Pages
Hi,
I have a multi page Registration (3 steps). On each step data submited is taken
to the database via an EJB component (Session Bean). How do I maintain a transaction
across these JSP pages so that the data in the database is consistent. If a there
is a problem in the 3rd step the data submitted in the first two steps should
be rolled back.
How do I maintain transaction across multiple pages.
Regards
-MohanRaj
It will take from several minutes to a long time for a user to complete a multiple page registration process. Do you really have enough database connections that each concurrent user can hold on to one?
Usually you cannot open more than 50-200 connections to a database at any given time.
Remember that some users will abandon the registration process. Can you afford that their sessions holds a db conenction until the session times out?
Consider changing your datamodel so you can run and commit a transaction at the end of processing the form data from a page. Immediately after the commit give the db connection back to the pool inside the app. server.
It can be as simple as having a column in the database of type enum, with a set of values that shows how far in the registration process the registration has procesed.
BTW. if you absolutely have to hold on to the db connection, you can stuff it into a session scoped attribute and it will be available on all pages. -
Sharing one iTunes library across multiple accounts on the same Mac
Hello, I've poked around at some of the posts dealing with sharing one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac but it seems like this can only be done if the libary is moved to a shared folder. I realize this can be done but I was trying to share it the way it is described in a post on Apple support (See link below.). That post seemed to imply that you don't have to move the library from its original location (owned by account A, e.g.), rather just make a couple preference changes in the accounts, use fast user switching and voila. That doesn't seem to work. So my question is this: Is the only way to share one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac to move it to a shared folder? I'm running 10.4.8 on an Intel iMac. Thanks in advance!
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195After reading this and several other related threads, I am becoming thoroughly confused about all of this. I have a situation similar to the one that pokerpal described in the post dated January 7 at 8:06 pm, except that the music files on my system are located on an external hard drive. Everything else is pretty much the same though - I am the admin user (and the main iTunes user and maintainer) and my girlfriend is a standard user who has no music in her own iTunes library. She can see and listen to and make playlists from and sync her iPod with the music in this library from her account, and I can do the same thing, independent of her, from my account. And if I make a change to information within a song, she doesn't see it, and vice versa, and I understand that. What I don't understand is why when I add a song or an album to the music files by importing a CD or downloading something from the iTunes Music Store, she has no way of knowing that unless I tell her, and then she can add it to her library by using the "Add to Library" function. Is there no way of automatically updating her library files to add the new song(s)? We have almost 15,000 songs and videos in that library, and I don't even want to think about what might have to happen if the answer to my question is "no." Interestingly enough, if I put an update to a Word document in the same exact location (on the hard drive), we can update that and pass it back and forth all day - why is that such a difficult task for iTunes to accomplish?
Sorry I went on so long, but this has been building up for some time, and none of the solutions I've read about here have really been of any help, so I'm a bit frustrated and, as I said at the beginning, confused.

Forecast Roll-Over Script across multiple years
Hello Experts,
I currently have the below Script and Prompt but it only works for one Fiscal year and I need help changing it so that it can be used across multiple years, my issue is below:
If I have project TEST and it started in 2013.011 and ends in 2014.004, I have forecast values for all periods so when I run the script I'm prompted to "select forecast year" and "select forecast version based on previous period"
So when I run from 2013.11 (forecast version P11) to 2013.12 (forecast version P12) that works fine but it's not working to roll-over from 2013.012 to 2014.001
Any help is much appreciated.
Thx,
Shane

Spreading user data across multiple HD's?
I hope this is the right forum for this. I'm on a Mac Pro 1,1 and recently installed a few extra hard drives to optimize performance for video editing (accoring to recommendations over at another big software company's support docs -- this is not about FCP).
My goal is to have this general set-up:
SSD: Boot Drive (OS & Apps) -- already set up
Disk 2: Editing Project Files, media and exports
Disk 3: Cache, renders and previews
Disk 4: Ideally this would be for docs, itunes, photos and anythings non video related.
The thing is, this advice comes from PC users mainly and the OSX User Folder structure isn't an issue.
Question: Can the same user folder's contents be spread across multiple HD's? I realize I'll need to physically place a different "house" icon folder in each HD, probably, but can those have different contents? How can I make them all boot on start-up so the disk allocation is pretty much not noticeable?
Thanks!A simple version of what you are trying is to establish a Boot Drive, with only System, Library, Applications, and the hidden unix files. All user files are moved off to a different drive.
Here are some simple recipes for Moving the "Home" folder"
Japamac's Blog: Make space for Performance -- Moving the Home Folder
http://chris.pirillo.com/how-to-move-the-home-folder-in-os-x-and-why/
You can embellish this basic setup any way you wish, especially putting Movie data on a different drive, and Movie cache data on yet another drive. -
Syncing model sources across multiple WARs
One of the problems we're hitting in our development is keeping model classes synced across a multi-WAR project. For example, the model class for, say, a User object was changed in WAR B, but that developer (an intern) did not publish those changes to WARs A and C. The end result was that a few of our web service calls started failing on the unchanged WARs, while others worked fine.
I started looking into EJB3, intrigued by the @Remote and @Local setup, but those are related to the session beans themselves. I was hoping that object models could be referenced by interface across multiple WAR distributions as well, though I haven't dug up anything specific on this yet.
Is there any advice on this forum for keeping model classes in sync across a multiple-WAR project (aside from tighter repository control and swift kicks to the butt)?Wraithe wrote:
Quoting myself: +"The end result was that a few of our web service calls started failing on the unchanged WARs"+
My original question pertaining to ensuring that the source code for the end user model classes remained consistent. You can't if the interface contains Java classes that are changed. You immediately have to deploy updated JAR files with the new code to all the clients that need it.
The JAR idea is applicable, though not ideal, and I was hoping there was some other suggestion as to how to handle client-side objects. There is: XML messaging in the service interface instead of Java classes.

Spreading your Aperture Library across multiple volumes/drives/disks
I recall reading posts elsewhere by others (on an Adobe Lightroom forum) on how one's Aperture Library had to sit on one volume, meaning that it could not span multiple disks. At the time I figured I would be fine for a while since I had about 150 GB of free space on my main disk, yet kept the topic at the back of my mind.
Today, as I do regularly, I was backing up my (Aperture) library to my iPod, (not through the "vault" mechanism but simply using Finder,) when I noticed it was copying (many) individual files, rather than one large file! Being familiar with Unix, including how certain items in Mac OSX are treated, such as "Applications" that appear to be one object in the GUI, yet are merely a folder structure behind the scene, it occurred to me that the Aperture Library, rather than being some sort of single-file database format, just might be a folder instead.
I checked, and it is. Mind you, that doesn't prevent Aperture from keeping proprietary files within those folders, however, it would seem to me that one could easily use symbolic links to throw some of the files, perhaps at the project level, onto other disks, and thus span your library across multiple volumes even if Aperture does not yet offer or manage this ability.
iMac G5 2.1 HGz, 1.5 GB RAM, 20" Mac OS X (10.4.7)Perhaps this article will help shed light on Aperture's library organization:

Burning a Video Across Multiple DVDs Easily?
I have a big compilation of old tapes I imported into an iMovie project. I want to burn the clips onto DVDs readable by DVD players (so MPEG-2), but there are >14 hours of pretty uncompressed video there. I could, of course, chop the movie into parts, but then it's hard to judge how big the pieces should be because the file size on the DVD will be much smaller than my current DV files.
Is there a program or a method to easily burn one big movie file across multiple DVDs by chopping it so each DVD is filled? You need to edit them properly in iMovie into individual movies of max length 90 minutes or so, then burn each one in iDVD.
The idea of using multiple DVDs for a single 14 hour movie won't work. -
Does a Flash library symbol search extension exist that can search across multiple files?
Hi, I'm working on a large animation project with an extensive symbol library that exists across multiple files. I would like to know if such a tool exists that can search between all of these files for specific symbols. This would save me a great deal of time and I would be very grateful for any suggestions. We are using Flash CS5 primarily. Thanks.
Thanks! I appriciate you confirming this for me

Searching across multiple entity beans
Hi,
Currently we are doing a school project that involve a search function that involves multiple entity beans. Is it alright to use a SQL query to do a search across multiple entity bean? Does it violate the J2EE Specification?
Is there any other way to do that?
And also can the Session Bean access database directly ?
Thanks and Regards,
Eng ChewNever try that myself, but I think it would work.
Because in your dd, you'll create 2 entry for each
entity bean.
For example: <entity>
<description>This is entity b</description>
<ejb-name>entityA</ejb-name>
<home>company.EntityHome</home>
<remote>company.Entity</remote>
<ejb-class>company.EntityA</ejb-class>
... etc ...
</entity>
<entity>
<description>This is entity b</description>
<ejb-name>entityB</ejb-name>
<home>company.EntityHome</home>
<remote>company.Entity</remote>
<ejb-class>company.EntityB</ejb-class>
... etc ...

Keynote across multiple displays
Anyone know of a way to display a Keynote file 3072 x 486 across multiple display cards? Looking to have an image that size feed widescreen presentation across three individual projection screens.
Does Keynote 3 support multiple display cards?
thanks in advance.
Mac Mac OS X (10.4.7) Keynote 3.0.1
Mac / PC Mac OS X (10.4.7)In case you can't get that to work...
I also do widescreen Keynotes (3240x1080) but we use a Barco system that currently takes a single signal from my mac and distributes it to two projectors. Since the show mac's resolution is only a 1600x1200 space, it's not feeding the full 3240x1080 to the Barco. I am looking into a product from Matrox called the DualHead2Go Digital edition (there is a TripleHead2Go as well) which simulates a 3840x1200 monitor and outputs two 1920x1200 signals (or a few other lower resolutions if needed). Maybe that would work better for your situation than the multiple display cards because the mac thinks it is one large secondary display and acts normally. At least that's what I'm here to find out as well. -
WDS Across Multiple Offices with Multiple Computers
Im trying to set up WDS to deploy windows 7 pro across multiple computers. I work in a company that installs computers for dental offices. We have a master image and at the time to prep all computers we clone that image using Acronis. Is there a better
way to do this? Also will WDS allow me to deploy images to different types of PCs. Right now our image only works on newer computer but we constantly rebuild older PC's that get infected. Can I make a master Image that allows me to deploy it to any computer?
Lastly, could I do something to be able to deploy this into our offices, if so how? Would I need to set up all those servers?Hi JDAM-00,
Are you trying to
create the universal image, which means .create a single image and deploy to multiple hardware. You were unable to create the universal image by sysprep tool it is not supported, but you can use MDT or WDS and inject drivers in the driver
store then it's possible to deploy the image.
