Maintaining role detailed description(i.e long text) issue

Dear Experts,
Can anyone help me out with the issue which i'm facing while maintaining role detailed description(i.e long text) .
In standard GRC approver screen, on click on any technical role it opens role details popup where we have one tab namely detailed description.
Can any one let me know where to maintain that role detail description or from where (any table)it fetches the role detailed description?

Hi Katrice,
what SP are you on?
This role detailed description is maintained at backend system (PFCG) during role creation.
This information is later replicated to SAP GRC BRM (role detailed description as on your screen shoot) during role rep sync jobs.
This data can be also maintained in SAP GRC (define stage) during role creation.
If I remember correctly from SP14 this information once updated in BRM is later populated to ECC (both way sync).

It is based on SAP standard long texts which are stored in a cluster and not a table, not sure what this means but hope it helps

Bex report on Multi Provider Long Text issue

Hi All,
I have a report that running on a multiprovider and I have a field that I use as a selection parameter. I changed the settings for this field's info object settings to "long text" to see long description in the pop up search window. However setting change worked for all the other reports that are running on cubes and DSO s but I still see short description when I run the multiprovider report.
Is there any settings need to be changed for multiproviders to see long desc. ?
I apprciate any help with points

Iw22 long text issue

hi,
I am facing a strange issue in long text creation and saving in iw22 that whenever i am changing the long text or adding any line with the existing long text it is showing the reported by field's id of iw22 in long text user id place.
In spro there is a setting where from we can add an option to track the user id and time stamp of every one time change in long text in iw22 or iw21.so logically if i am changing the long text it should retrieve my id whereas it is retreiving the id which is mentioned in the reported by field in iw22.
I debugged a lot through the program working behing it but left with no suitable explanation.
Can anyone please help and let me know if any thing I should do extra to get the actual reason for this.
Please help!!!.

Inform your abaper to have a look at the form definition. I guess its a custom form which you're using & the definition of the form is incomplete as suggested by the message.

Promotion creation via BAPI - long text issue

I am going to use BAPI_PROMO_CREATE to create a promotion. Unfortunately this BAPI does not handle the long text piece of the promotion, and that is a requirement. Does anyone know of a BAPI that will create the long text for a promotion, or is there a generic BAPI for this functionality? I couldn't find one.

Hi,
First you need to confirm where you are displaying that description.
E.G. if you taking it on Quality certificate you need to assign that form in the long text through(Menu>>Format>>Change form)
here you select the form of certificate in that form if subscript of super script are not active please make active with the help of abaper)
once you assign the required form you can maintain the sub script in the long text.

Long Text to Short Text connversion in IW31/IW32

Hi Experts,
I am working on a requirement where I need to overwrite the short text for material description with the long text while creating the maintenance order in IW31/IW32.
Initially I thought of handling this in a implementation of BADI IWO1_PREQ_BADI in method DECISION_COLL_PREQ.
But this this method is gettign triggered when the paurchasing data is being entered and even before the long text is entered.
Once the order is ready to be saved, and once the user clicks on save I want to write this conversion where I can copy the long text into short text overwriting the material description in component tab of IW31/IW32.
Please check and suggest the BADI/userexits for thsi purpose.

Hi Kishore,
Go to transaction SE24, class name CL_EXITHANDLER, go to methods, double click on method GET_INSTANCE.
Set a break point at
CALL METHOD cl_exithandler=>get_class_name_by_interface
EXPORTING
instance = instance
IMPORTING
class_name = class_name
CHANGING
exit_name = exit_name
EXCEPTIONS
no_reference = 1
no_interface_reference = 2
no_exit_interface = 3
data_incons_in_exit_managem = 4
class_not_implement_interface = 5
OTHERS = 6.
CASE sy-subrc.
Now run trasaction IW31, press f8 till you reach bfore save button, enter the long text and all, now press the save buttton, control will break if in case any BADi is there(I think there is), exit name and instance will give you the BADI details.
I think this is one of the simplest way.

Long text - VA01 & VA03

Please let me know the ways to read and update the sales order long text in VA01 or VA02 transaction. Please note that in VA02 transaction, the long text is just entered and it is not in the database yet.

Hi.
Two type long text maintain in VA01 one is header long text and one is item long text.
Header long text you will click the display docu. header details and display all long text then double click the entry text area show the long text window the goto menu click goto option the sub menu display header what are parameter pass to get long text details and thing do item text also.

Long text problem while uploading Inspection plan through BDC.

Hi,
I am facing some problem while uploading the inspection plan. There are few MICs for which we are having long text, while uploading the inspection plan through BDC - some other long text is getting copied into the MIC's long text. After checking I came to know that in function module, read_text - some text which is stored in ABAP memory is getting copied into the inspection plan.
I am working in SAP release 4.7. I have checked with SAP notes: 97419, but it is also not satisfying.

My requirement is I want to maintain long text for few MICs (which are not having long texts at MIC level) in inspection plan (QP01).
When I am trying to manually assign the MIC's to inspection plan (QP01), long text is copied whereas I am not clicking the long text icon in (QP01). Long text is not maintained in MIC level, still some long text is copied to this MIC. This was also happening while uploading the inspection plan thro' BDC.
I believe what you have mentioned about function module SAVE_TEXT cannot be used here since long text is already copied before we pass the long text. Also if we pass some long text, still apart from the long text what we have passed there is some other long text copied (extra long text).

with FMs READ_TEXT & SAVE_TEXT, WRITE_TEXT ..
or in some sutiable user exit at the time of saving sales order , the above FMs will be helpful for ur case

Reporting on Blocks of Long Text - Netweaver 7.0

Hi all,
I have read the forums and especially Eugene Khusainov's blogs on modelling and reporting long texts (> 60 chars) in BW - however this all seems to apply to version 3.5. Does anyone know whether the situation for loading long texts has improved in netweaver V7.0? Or is it still necessary to create multiple attributes of 60 chars each?
If so, is there a limit on how many of these can be created? Or is this indefinite? I suspect my requirements could stretch to many hundreds of characters as a block of text to be reported.
Are there also performance and best practise implications in keeping huge blocks of text in BI? presumably the long text limit was set at 60 chars for a good reason ie that it is not good practise to fill up BI with strings of text..?

However I've realised that Eugene's solution will probably not help me. My requirement is to actually report on blocks of text - for example, the users want a transcript of a call centre call within a report.
Eugene's example will work for a description (ie a long text attached to a characteristic) but my requirement is not a text description in the 'traditional' sense - the 'block of text' needs to be reported on as if it is a separate characteristic within the cube. At the moment the only solution I can see, is to create multiple characteristics of 60chars each, and actually load these blocks of text into the cube.
This sounds like a horrendous solution - first of all the blocks of text can run into many hundreds of characters. Secondly, surely the performance WILL be terrible if the cube has to hold rows and rows of free text?
Please advise. If this solution is really not feasible in BI, then I will have to tell the business that it cannot be done.
I notice that it is possible to upload free text into a web template. Is this a better solution?
