Maintaining Widescreen on export

Hi. i know this must be quite remedial to most of you guys but it's killing me.
I'm editing widescreen HD format from my HD camera. 1080:60. All is good and I can export to a self contained quicktime movie correctly but I want to also export it as a lower res, smaller size .mov file. however, i cannot maintain the widescreen format. The codec is squashing it. if I select a widescreen res, I just get black bars either side of the squashed footage.
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks for any help
Marcus

  • Creating Chapters for Widescreen QT exports

I'm filming in widescreen on a Sony HDR-HC1, using FCE HD 3.5, and exporting QT to burn in iDVD 5.
The Quicktime export settings, at least for the basic movie export, doesn't support widescreen, yet it allows for chapter creation.
How, in the custom QT settings, can I set up chapter markers for export to iDVD 5?
I had them all set up in the FCE timeline, but they didn't show up in my iDVD movie.

Yes, they've got the <CHAPTER> markers, and I avoided the first chapter at the beginning.
Exporting by File/Export/Quicktime conversion doesn't seem to offer any method of keeping the chapter markers.
It could be that my original sequence was set up wrong, but I experimented endlessly (much to the demise of my free hard drive space).
I'll keep trying. Any input is greatly appreciated.

  • Why does a dv PAL widescreen project export at 4.3?

    Hello everyone,
I have for some months been puzzled by an export problem with DV PAL widescreen. I can import my footage ok, and in iMovie it plays back perfectly at the correct aspect ratio.
However, when I want a full quality export, the resulting movie is 4.3 - why?
I can get round this by going into custom settings and entering my own size, but why is this necessary?
A related problem has just occurred when trying to score a similar movie in Garageband. Despite being widescreen at source, the movie that goes into GB is 4.3. Am I missing something obvious here?
    Many thanks.

composites of Photo to Movie and iMovie footage, exported to a Quicktime movie, which is then typically dropped back to a much larger iMovie project, so timecoding isn't really important at this stage.
Photo to Movie material is progressive and don't have timecode so nothing is lost there.

  • Trouble maintaining widescreen format when combining clips

I made a demo reel from three of my movies. I made the first movie in non-widescreen format (4:3) in iMovie 6. The other two I made in widescreen (16:9) in iMovie 9.
I was able to rip (using a product called Cinematize) one scene each from a burned disc of each movie and combine them--one after another--into one iMovie 9 Project. But then I noticed that the movie playbacks seemed odd--rather than two of them being in 16:9, they all were in 4:3.
I called Apple Support and they said that you can't combine formats the way I want to. They said that if one of the clips is 4:3, the rest will automatically be formatted that way.
But I still want to do this--keep the two 16:9 clips in that format. Does anyone have a workaround? Thanks.

    Try this:
Open the slideshow.mov in QT Player Pro and export it as a DV stream with the 16:9 flag set. Then import the .dv file to a widescreen iMovie project.
Then iMovie should treat it as 16:9.
Hmm... what is the frame rate of the .mov? The .dv should use the same fps but it is fixed at ntsc 29.97 or PAL 25 fps for .dv.

  • Maintaining 50fps on export?

    Hi!
I've purchased the new Panasonic SD-700 which records @ 1080p/50fps (PAL region here). I am able to import these clips into FCE after transcoding to AIC via ClipWrap. The imported files are still 1080p/50fps and work fine on the timeline. However, I can't seem to be able to export my movie without losing the 50fps. A standard export will produce a 25fps movie. When exporting as a quicktime conversion and forcing 50fps, the resulting file will indeed show as 50fps in quicktime, but in practice consist of pairs of two identical frames, meaning it is effectively still 25fps.
Is there anyway to export from FCE and maintain the 50fps? Since importing and editing seems to work fine @ 50fps, it would be a shame if it couldn't output in that fram rate. If no, would FCP be able to handle a 50fps export?
    Thank you,
    Erik

Tom: The item properties both in FCE and the exported QT show 50fps @ 1080, but frame advancing in QT will show movement only every other frame, as supposed to every frame while in FCE. I know FCE doesn't natively support 50 or 60fps, but since I was able to "trick it" into accepting my footage via Clipwrap (will not work at all otherwise), I was hoping there was a way to have it unaltered on export as well.
Ian: The new 700-series does at its highest quality setting indeed record 1080 @ 50 progressive frames per second. It's the feature that sets it apart from the competition for this generation of camcorders, and it looks pretty fantastic. This mode of recording is outside the current AVCHD specification though, which is what makes editing a bit cumbersome at the moment. Hence this thread, hoping to find workarounds that doesn't degenerate the picture quality.
Thank you for your help so far, appreciate it!

  • Maintain keyword when export photo to memory stick

When you assign a keyword to an image, is there a way to export the image such that the keyword (e.g. 'family') remains associated with it?
In other words, the ideal would be that you could export to a memory stick and the keyword would "stick" to that picture so that you could take it to another computer and use iphoto (or some other program) to identify that picture by keyword rather than filename.

    Terence,
Bad news. I went ahead and skipped 07 and upgraded to iPhoto8. It appears that either your advice was incorrect or this feature was broken in 08. Adding keywords within iPhoto08 does not actually change the EXIF metadata.
I added keywords within iPhoto08 and exported the image to the desktop. I then used MacMetaShow and found that the exif data was not modified. I did some Googling and found a few complaints that this is still a problem. I suppose it is possible that MacMetaShow is not reading the data correctly so I will try to find a different program to verify this.
Can anybody else corroborate this problem?

  • Cannot Maintain Columns when exporting to Excel

I am trying to export a device report from PDF to Excel however the columns all show up but the information is not placed accurately as to each column.

You either need the Acrobat Forum or the ExportPDF Forum, where people who use the correct software can help. You CANNOT export using Reader alone.

  • Maintaining quality when exporting to MP4

I'm trying to export my video to MP4, but everything I've tried ends with a drastic loss of quality. Exporting to DV or Sorenson 3 look fine. But exporting to MP4 or H.264 are completely unusable. I've adjusted for higher data rates, more key frames and frame rates...I've selected best quality...I've set it for 640x480 and 320x240...I've tried Compression as well as Conversion and ended with the same results each time. I've also tried to export from Quicktime 7.0 instead of through FCPHD.
I've exported to MP4 with great results before and my software hasn't changed since the last time I exported a project.
    Any suggestions? Thank you.
    Emac 1.25GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Thank you....
I've tried a couple of different ways:
    A.
Select File -> Export -> Quicktime Conversion.
In the Save window, change the format to MPeg-4 and select Options.
In Export Settings, I've changed the File Format to MP4, Video Format to Mpeg-4 Improved and Image Size to 640 x 480 VGA. I've tried different figures for the Data Rate (256, 512, 768) and Frame Rate (29.97, 15, 10).
Last step was to select Save.
    B.
In the Save window, leave the format as QuickTime Movie and select Options.
In the Conversion Settings window, I selected MPeg-4 Video (A few other times I tried this using H.264).
I left the Frame Rate at Current but have also tried 29.97.
Key Frames I left at Every 24 frames.
I increased Quality to Best and Data Rate I've tried changing it to Automatic but have also left it on Restrict to 6400 kbits/sec.
The Optimized selection has been always set as Download.
After Selecting Okay, I've tried setting the size as Current, 640x480 and 320x240.
I've always deselected Prepare for Internet Streaming.
After that, I've selected okay and then Save.
Each time the quality of the video has been very bad. Since the source video comes from a DVD and it looks good when I export to DV or Sorenson 3, there has to be something I'm missing.

  • Widescreen 6840x1080 export

i have been successfully exporting 6840x1080 down to four 1710x1080 files.  In the export settings, the whole canvas was viewable.  Worked fine.
Then i tried to export some stills, and now the export window does not show the whole canvas no matter what i do.  No matter the format, or streatching.  It just tiles part of the canvas.
    Any ideas?

  • Movie Poster Frames Not Maintained in Export?

I've been setting Poster Frames on all my LR5 videos with the assumption that they would be maintained when i export my videos, using LR5's native export function.  I'm now noticing that the poster frames are *not* maintained in the export files.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I am exporting using H.264 compression, set to Max.  I also have checked the option to maintain all metadata in the export dialogue.  Any other suggestions?

UPDATE: I noticed that the poster frame of the export is maintained when I view the exported file on my Apple TV, pulling from my home server.  But the strange thing is that Lightroom itself does *not* maintain that poster frame when viewing the exported clip within Lightroom.  Any ideas why that would be?  The exported file is not in the same folder as the original, but that should not make a difference, I wouldn't think.  Seems like a bug.

  • Keynote Export "Transparent video"

This maybe a some tip and trick how to export form Keynote transparent chart animations and what ever...
i looking for answer around the network, but no answerts of this question! So i figure out how to do this and i like to share it (maybe helpful for others)
    1. Create a transparent .png file (i take for example my steps) i created in Photoshop transparent image 1024x576 for PAL Widescreen. Export as .png
    2. Open Keynote, make your own animated chart, pie or whatever you like.
    3. Open inspector > Document inspector set your size. (For my situation i choice 1024x576)
    4. Go to Slide inspector. Under Background choice Image Fill and use your transparent .png image
    5. File/Export.
    6. check include transparency. Under formats choice "Custom"
    7. Choice Settings!
    8. In Video Compression Settings Choice Animation Set your frame rate. Set Keyframes to Automatic. Set Depth to Millions Of Colors + (Quality - set to Best)
    Thats all!
Transparency are not working by default - it works only when you set a transparent Color Fill
this is some kind of Keynote Bug or so...

This also works if in your step 4, you choose "Color Fill", then using the Color well, choose any color you want, AND set its Opacity to 0%.  No need for the transparent .png file this way.
(I sure wish the Include Transparency check box would stay checked from one export to the next!)
Cheers, and thanks for the post.

  • Export to Excel - Formatting Issues

I am using Crystal XI and Excel 2010.
I have created a report that is Letter size and Landscape orientation.  I export it to Excel and, when I open it in Excel, the columns seem to look ok, but the segmens that are in the Report Headers (there are two) are stretched way out to the right so that printing causes two pages to be printed with the second page containing the fields that were located on the right edge of the report's headers.
The title banner is also shifted so that, where it is centered on the report, it is now almost right aligned on the first page of the Excel sheet.
The Page Header, Footer and Detail sections appear to be correct.
I tried a redesign changing it to Portrait orientation and this (sort of) fixes the headings (when Excel is set o print in Landscape), but the Page Header, Footer, and Details sections are squeezed up to a third of the page width.
I'm accepting all defaults for the export, and the Report Headers re required (ie, exporting data only is not an option).
Is this a known issue, or is it something I'm not doing right?
    TIA

when you export the data, do you have an option for excel data only?
Yes I do.  It's labeled "Microsoft Excel 97-2000 - Data only (XLS)
when you click on the export
select to application, i believe that is the only time you get the options.
No, the options will also appear when you select "Disk file" as the Destination.  But neither way works as advertised.
    to next step select options
when you select the options it drops down
on the bottom you have boxes on the left and right
Yes, but, while there are four check boxes on the left ("Export object formatting", "Export images", "Use worksheet functions for summaries", and "Maintain relative object position"), there are only three on the right ("Maintain column alignment", "Export page header and page footer", and "Simplify page headers")
I tried checking 1, 2, and 4 on the left and 1, 2, and 3 on the right.  No joy.
Just now tried checking 1, 2, and 4 on the left and 1 and 2 on the right.  Also no joy.

  • Excise Invoice cancellation in deemed export

    Hi All,
In deemed export scenario, i have created an excise invoice .But when i try to cancel it throws an error "No item information transferred into Accounting. Message no. RW002".
And it is also not possible to cancel the billing doc also which asks to cancel excise invoice first.
i understand that no accounting document is generated when we create excise invoice in deemed export, while i was analyzing the excise invoice i saw that it was showing that BED,ECS& SE cess values.
I checked in sales order and all excise condition values are marked as statistical.Further BED had been calculated based upon a condition record with a key combination of "country/plant/control code". Control code had been picked from the foreign trade tab of the material master.
I created another sales order in which no excise conditions were calculated, and created an excise invoice where excise duties were showing zero values. Now in this case i was successful in cancelling the excise invoice.
so my doubt is(i) Should excise duties be calculated in sales order and the same is to be seen in excise invoice?even though we are not paying any duties and conditions are statistical.
(ii) Should foreign trade tab in material master be maintained in deemed export?

    Dear friend,
    doubt is
Should excise duties be calculated in sales order and the same is to be seen in excise invoice?even though we are not paying any duties and conditions are statistical.
Yes we can see the same values in excise invoice which are determined at order.
(ii) Should foreign trade tab in material master be maintained in deemed export?
    Yes.
And also even without generating FI document the excise document can be canceled.I hope you have developed an enhancement at VF11
So it is not accepting to canceling the billing with out canceling the excise invoice.
So check whether any mistakes are there in developed coding.
    Thank you,

  • SAME NUMBER RANGES FOR DOMESTIC AND EXPORT INVOICE

    Dear All,
We have maintained Two objects separately for Exports and Domastic sales invoices which is inturn giving two different number ranges.
But our client needs same number to be continued for both.
For eg: 000001 .  000002 and 000003 is the number range for domastic invoices for Export invoice 00004 should come. now as we have maintained different objects Export invoice is starting from 00001.
Our client does'nt want to maintain separate number ranges for Exports and Domastic, same number range should be there for both which should follow continues numbers.
Please suggest me on this at the earliest.
    Regards,
    Jay

    Dear Jay
Assuming that you are asking about Excise Invoice number ranges, please do maintain Numbers for the Object: J_1IEXCLOC
When you go into J1IIN, you will need to mark the checkbox: Use Local Number. If at the first time (in the case of Deemed and Regular Exports), you do not see this checkbox, click on the 'Calculator' icon and hit the 'Back' icon. Mark the checkbox and save your Excise Invoice. This number will be a continuation of your Domestic Excise Invoice.
    thanks

  • Maintain Excise and series group determination setting

    Hi Everybody,
In maintain excise group and series group determination setting. My all the fields are common for both domestic and export and i have to differentiate with automatic excise invoice. When i was trying to do the setting in Maintain excise and series setting. Its not allowing me to save it.
I explain in a better way
Sales org.      Distribution ch.      Division    shipping point    Plant     excise Group    series group     export        sub transt. type
    in03                    z1                        z1                inpa              inpa            z1                  z1
All these fields are common for export also. when i try to maintain setting for export. i just try to add export field as export under bond.  But it stops to do that. And our company policy is we can not create more distribution channel  or division.
Can anybody tell me how to do that or is there any user exit for this.

    Hi,
I had created a new series group and tried to assign in the maintain excise and series group determination. But it give the same error  "target ket must be different from the source key"
What i had done is : i had created new series group i.e z3
    and maintained setting like that
    in03         z1       z1        inpa       inpa        z1     z3       Export under bond
when i try to save it, it gives error.
