Maintenace view for fld more than 500 characters

Ho do i create a maintenance view for fld more than 500 characters? i  need a maintenance view to maintain URL which is sometimes more than 500 chars.

The way SAP solves this for webservices is via a hash.
Once you have executed the service, the URL populates a mapping table and generates a unique hash value for it.
Via this hash, you can assign it to authorization fields and use it in your coding where the fields have limitations.
As a consequence this causes some confusion if you dont use F4, but it does work.

Julius

  • Error when inserting more than 500 characters

    Hello all,
    I am not sure if I should be posting here or in the Flex
    Forum, so I apologize ahead of time if I am in the wrong place.
    I am Using a Flex frontend and a ColdFusion backend to edit
    data in a simple Access Database (for testing). I have a ColdFusion
    CFC on the backend that handles everything just fine until I enter
    in more than 500 characters (Actually 510) into my text area and
    then I get the error "Unable to invoke CFC - Error Executing
    Database Query.". Now you might be saying that either the database
    field is not set to handle that many characters or the CFC is
    restricting more than 500 characters, but they are not. The
    database field is set to "memo" and the maxlength in the CFC is set
    to 5000. I am wondering if has something to do with Access
    databases I do not know because I don't use them that often.
    I have tested this over and over and it only throws the error
    if I exceed 510 characters in the Flex TextArea.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    The CFC code is below I didn't add the MXML because I figured
    there was nothing special about the TextArea block:

    Very strange as to why this worked but just in case someone
    else has the same problem here is how I got it to work.
    I just changed this line:
    rss_copy = <cfqueryparam value="#arguments.rss_copy_edit#"
    cfsqltype="cf_sql_varchar" maxlength="5000">
    to this:
    rss_copy = '#arguments.rss_copy_edit#"'
    and it worked just fine.

  • How do I post a recurring problem with a report that isw more than 500 characters

    Why does FFx 8.0.1 initiate a XP restart? i.e.
    This is a repeat of my 1st test!! While not at the PC (12/15/11 late evening) version 8.0.x is automatically upgrading Firefox 6.0.2.. Shut down PC, restart 12/16/11 today. Run the test again using the URL below possibly a typical problem site. Select Yamax SW200 from this page. Wait about a minute plus and XP reboots etc.
    http://www.pedometersusa.com/view-all-pedometers.html?gclid=CKGJl9Kp3KwCFcya7Qodomb6qw
    so I run IE version 6.0.2900.55112.xpsp.0804313-2111 and use the same URL. IE sat ar this tab for more than 25 MINUTEs and THERE WAS NO Problem i.e. XP did not reboot or Blue Screen.
    ----------- end of repeat test of 12/16/11 -----------

    If the file has to contain the images, then the file has to bear whatever weight the images contribute.  The only way to get to 50K is to have the total weight of the images come in below that.  If the label images are just text then you should see what you can do to draw them up as vectors in Flash.  But I doubt the larger images are going to be able to be optimized down far enough to meet the spec while retaining the kind of clarity you want, especially if the 640x480 needs to be expanded to a larger full screen size.

  • How to display TEXT more than 500 char in a report as multiple lines.

    Hi Friends,
    i have a requirement like i should display Texts of length more than 500 Characters in a report( ALV LIST) as multiple lines
    I am fetching the data Using FM READ_TEXT
    the output im currently geeting with 150 Char in lenth as a single line
    How we can split the text into multiple lines in a report
    first i would like to know is it possible? if possible please give your valuable suggitions if not is there any alternative way to do this task.
    Thanks & regards
    kumar.

    Hi,
    This is possible but the Solution might not look Standard/Appropriate to you.
    In ALV, you can have Multiple Line Output...There is a Field in the Field Catalogue..called as Row_position...this is by default 0...which means Single row/Line ALV output....You can have this Value in the Range of 0 to 3.......A ALV field with row_position 1, will be displayed in the second line for every record...i.e. you will have multiple line for a single record of ALV.
    In your case......you can use this but you need to split your field in two fields.....but you may end up spliting a single word....but for that also you can design the logic of splitting the Fiel value at SPACE only......
    This may work.......and Sorry if not work......

  • Power view display more than 500 values in a field

    From my research, it looks like the limit of values in a Power View filter is 500.  does anyone if this is configurable to increase (which
    I am doubting based on Microsoft’s website as I’ve copied below).  If it is not configurable and we cannot display more than 500 values when filtering, then what should be done
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh231514%28v=sql.110%29.aspx

    You could always do the concatenation on the client. ie: "select action1, action2 from tableX" and then create a boilerplate object with text that references both of these columns. (eg: "&<action1> &<action2>"). This should give you the concatenation you're after.
    Another alternative is to return a "long" column instead. The 4000 is probably down to the varchar datatype restriction.

  • Dataype for more than 4000 characters

    Hello,
    I ve got an Oracle 9i Database with an Table which has an Collumn defined as varchar2.
    Now I found, that's still not enough for my application.
    I tried to delete the Table and switch the Data Type to long. Other than expected I'm still not able to insert more than 4000 characters.
    Any ideas?
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
    You can look at the sample based on LOB Datatype at this location.
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/advanced/advanced.htm
    There is a method called 'loadSamples' in the source file of this sample(http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/advanced/LOBSample/LOBSample.java.html)
    This is the way you insert data into a BLOB or CLOB.
    You can't directly insert data > 4000 characters in a BLOB or CLOB. you need to first create an empty BLOB or CLOB and then insert data into it.

    @John Is your response for Open Directory users because I can say with certainty that your response is not true for AD searches.  The filter box only whittles down the intial 500 displayed results (appears to from my testing).  I can view all 8000 of my groups (yes I tweaked the 1000 cap for LDAP queries on the ad server) and up to 8000 users in Directory Utility, even do individual searches for undisplayed users (actually have 50000 or so) and still get them back.  It seems Directory Utilitity DOES form LDAP queries correctly and efficiently, whereas Server app does not.  It seems Server app, at least against an AD server, tries to LDAP query for everything, and only filters down the max results it gets back.  Am I wrong?  If I were, I should be able to use the search box and still get the same 8000 groups I do in Directory Utility, which I don't.  Know how to fix?
    To clarify: This only happens when I need to give access permissions to "Services" in the Users or Groups section under Accounts.  Intestingly, looking up the users and groups to set permissions for the actual Sharepoint, works just fine.
    @Antonio While you're right it doesn't seem Server App can come anywhere close to Active Directory in terms of managing the entire infrastructure, I think you're wrong when you sort of insinuate that it shouldn't be able to work in tandem with it.  Forming the LDAP queries to AD better seems like such a simple thing to fix - nobody is asking it do the same workload as AD.  I work at an educational institution that is AD infrastructure on the whole, but I just happen to manage an Arts college that it's part of and I prefer the Server App + Deploy Studio + Remote Desktop to manage our 90% rate of macs, as opposed to using the SCCM and AD tools I easily could use.  And I doubt I'm the only mac admin in a similar situation.  This is something Apple could and SHOULD easily fix.

  • ALV Cell with more than 255 characters.

    Hello Guru's,
    I need to display a longtext in ALV with other details. I am using READ_TEXT to get the Longtext and appending it to Internal table field, which i have defined as a string. I have debugged the code and it is containing around 450 characters. But, when i am trying to display using "REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY" it is only displaying 255 characters.
    Please suggest a solution.
    Thanks,
    Sudhir.

    Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length.
    In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output.
    The report output can contain up to 90 columns in the display with the wide array of display options.
    The commonly used ALV functions used for this purpose are;
    1. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_DEFAULT_GET
    2. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_F4
    3. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_EXISTENCE
    4. REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET
    5. REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE
    6. REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE
    7. REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY
    8. REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY
    9. REUSE_ALV_POPUP_TO_SELECT

  • Excel 2007 to Sql server table. Column with more than 255 characters.

    Hi there,
    I am facing a problem while converting data from Excel 2007 to SQL server 2005 table. I am using BIDS 2005.I have an excel file where one particular column has more than 255 characters. I use OLEDB connection for excel file as there is no driver for Excel
    2007 in BIDS2005. I am using Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider for Excel file.
    Next, I changed advanced properties for the column to DT_NTEXT. But when I am getting errors on execution. They are:
    [OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.
    [OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: Failed to retrieve long data for column "action".
    [OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: There was an error with output column "action" (2046) on output "OLE DB Source Output" (1959). The column status returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE".
    [OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR.  The "output column "action" (2046)" failed because error code 0xC0209071 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "action"
    (2046)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
    Please advise on how can I deal with columns having more than 255 characters in Excel file.
    Thanks!

    Here is what your connection string should look like for excel source
    Provider
    =Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data
    Source=c:\temp\test.xls;Extended

  • Spool output more than 255 characters

    Hi ,
    i am running a ALV report in background whose output is more than 255 characters . but spool is showing only 255 charcters.
    Do we have any setting to change to display all characters.
    Or any OSS notes that can be applied.
    Thanks & regards,
    Sonika Ahuja

    Hi,
    You need to change the Format Type through SPAD transaction. The Format Type decides the number of rows and columns per page. By creating a new format type as per your requirement would solve the probelm.
    Also, in the Report declaration, change the Line-Size to 300 or as per the width of your output.
    For further details pls. refer this thread :
    Re: Spool List output display > 255 char when the rpt is run in Background

  • How can i  add more than 500 jPanels in a jScrollPane

    Hello to all ,
    I am facing a problem related to adding jPanels in jScrollPane. My application needs more than 500 jpanels in the jscrollpane.where in each jPanel 4 jtextboxes, 1 comboboxes, 1 check box is there.when the check box will be clicked then the total row( ie row means the panel containing the 4 jtextboxes, 1 comboboxes, 1 check box ).and when the user will click on move up or move down button then the selected jpanel will move up or down.
    The tool(sun java studio enterprise 8.1) is not allowing more Jpanels to add manually. so i have to add the jpanels by writing the code in to a loop. and the problem is that when i am trying to add the code in the code generated by the tool the code written out side the code by me is not integratable into the tool generated code.
    If u watch the code here am sending u ll get what am facing the problem. The idea of creating jpanels through loop is ok but when trying to impleent in tool facing difficulties.
    A example code am sending here. please tell me how i can add more panels to the scrollpane(it is the tool generated code)

    Thanks for here kind attention to solve my problem.
    I am thinking to create the classes separately for the components (i.e the jpanel, combobox,textbox etc)and call their instaces from the for loop .But the problem is the jpanel will contain the other components and that jpanels (unlimited jpanels will be added later)will be later added to the jscrollpane.
    By writing code, the problem is to place components( the comboboxes,textboxes etc placed on the jpanel ) in appropriate coordinates . So i am doing it through tool .
    I am sending here the sample code related to my actual need . In this i have taken a jScrollPane, on that i have added jPanel1 and on jPanel1 i have added jPanel2.On jPanel2 jTextField1, jComboBox1,jCheckBox are added. If the u ll see the code u can understand what problem i am facing.
    If i am still not clearly explained ,please ask me. plz help me if u can as u have already handled a problem similar to this.
    package addpanels;
    public class Main {
    /** Creates a new instance of Main */
        public Main() {

  • Any way to get more than 1000 characters in notes?

    i was just wondering if there was any way to get more than 1000 characters in the notes section of the ipod. i have outlines for school and they are a lot longer than 1000 characters... i didnt know if there is a setting on itunes or the ipod or a hack or mod to make it more than 1000 character limit. thanks for the help

    No.
    You can use the iPod in Disk mode and copy the outlines in their native format (Word?) and put them on your own computer.
