Maintenance 3.8 in automatic mode: how do I know it ran
I apologize if this may not be the right forum. I run maintenance 3.8 every day automatically through ical. It runs everyday at 1:00. How do I know if it actually ran?
There is no need to run this program automatically. ALL of the tasks mentioned in it (with exception of repairing permissions) are performed by OS X automatically on a regular basis without any extra software. If something goes wrong with your system then you can start running cleanup tools like that but as barry said running them on a regular basis can actually damage your system.

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.

I was shooting at a basketball game at ground level and I left it in automatic mode because the moves were too fast, but when I passed to Lightroom, the photos were grainy, due to high ISO.Under the settings menu (third menu over), select ISO settings, and then set the Auto ISO limits for max to whatever you consider the maximum acceptable ISO.

'Tab Groups' surely has an automatic mode whereby a group is dynamically defined by 'similar URLs'
The question says it all I think but my particular interest comes from not having a better principle (I used to have automatically common-coloured tabs but I forget how - perhaps Stylish...) of making a subset of tabs with a common theme (in this case similar-URLs) be easily re-visited. My main interest (currently) is no more complicated than grouping by URL which is crying out to be automatically maintained. Thanks.

The iPad is disabled. I followed directions to put it in recovery mode. The screen appeared with iTunes. It does not open automatically. How can I open it?
You've connected the iPad to your computer and you have iTunes open on your computer (your computer's iTunes may not automatically open) - does that not recognise that an iPad in recovery mode has been connected to it ? If your iTunes isn't recognising the iPad then try these troubleshooting pages :

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device. -
Captivate 5 Not recording actions in Automatic mode but records in FMR
Hi, I am trying to create a software simulation of SharePoint. The users need to be shown how to edit pages, profiles, etc. I am running Captivate 5 as administrator. The operating system is Windows 7. The problem is when I record the actions in Automatic mode, some of the actions are not captured; for example when chosing a profile picture from an explorer window, clicking Save and Close button on the edit profile page. However, when I record these same actions in FMR, everything is captured. Now that it adds extra work for me to insert captions in the FMR, wanted to check why Captivate is not capturing all the actions in Automatic Demo mode. Your help is much appreciated.

HareeshIn order for Captivate to perform an automatic capture it has to 'hear' the screen event, e.g. a button click, load of a dialog box, drop-down menu etc. Some software advertises these events well, others don't. In almost all software you'll typically need to do SOME manual captures, and for some software you'll need to do lots. Sounds like SharePoint might fall into the latter category.

Switching from manual mode to automatic mode
After a year of using manual mode, I'm planning to switch back to automatic mode. I've recreated my iTunes library and I've also saved a backup of the whole thing.
In the Apple knowledge base, I found an article that told me what to expect switching from automatic mode to manual mode ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61675 ), but I'm not sure how the switch in the other direction is going to work.
Right now I have the same songs on my iPod and iTunes, but they aren't synced. Also, I'm near my space limit on the iPod. If I switch to automatic mode, will it first delete everything on the iPod and then replace it with what's in iTunes? That's fine if it happens in that order.
I've got close to 40GB of music on the iPod, so I'm pretty nervous about making this switch. Any advice is much appreciated.

DaveYou should be fine. The only reason that I think it would wipe everythingis if the song information has changed. (Like the artist name is spelled different, or the song name is now capatilized, etc). Since you are still syncing with the same library, it probably won't wipe everything. Also, it's a great idea that you have everything backed up and also on your computer!
Another option is just to restore your iPod and then resync it from iTunes, basically starting over if you like that better. For more info on that, look here... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
I've seen computers wipe everything before, and then I've seen them just work with the iPod and its songs fine. As long as it is on your computer everything will be fine

After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod.... -

Let's see if we can square this away for you. With backing up your iPhone, it will back everything you have using iTunes and if you use iCloud, by default, backs up everything. After you have made a backup you can restore that to put the contents of the backup on your replacement iPhone. If you want to put certain things back on, you will at least need to export the content to your computer, like your photos and videos. If you only want to put certain things back on, then you will need to sync that over with iTunes. All the information you will need are in the articles below.

When I boot up my Mac Mini, the mail and message program's open automatically. How do I stop this?
I heard that all program's that are open when shutting down, will open again on booting up. I always close all program's before shutting down!Go to preferences and General and be sure the box is checked that states to close all programs on exit. Also, right clcik your mail icon in the dock and under options be sure the open at login is not checked.

Your best bet would be to send it into a 3rd party repair company who offers free diagnostics to help you determine the cause of issue or bring it to your local Apple store and see what they have to say.
