Maintenance Cost

Hi Gurus
In maintenance order we specify the material in component tab.  My clientu2019s requirement is to know the cost based on usage of the material as General consumable or Machine spares.   For Example, if he use a bearing to a Press then it is machine spare and if he use the same bearing to a fork lift it is consumable.  So based on the nature of the use he is deciding it as general consumable or machine spare.
Since it is decided only at the time of usage, I canu2019t mention it in material master - Material Group / External Material Group . We have to provide an option in component tab and while entering the component he has to say it is General consumable or Machine spare.
In Component tab there is an option for special stock indicator.  Can anybody tell me the use of this field or can we use this field for the above requirement or is there any other option to fulfill this requirement.
Thanks in advance
Babu R

Beatle,
Your point of view for reporting is fine. but If you are using Non stock item or similar the moment you assign to maintenance order component tab. system will trigger a purchase requisition. As far as I understand in this thread requirement is from the consumption point of view. You are reserving material/bearing to take it from store say consumable / spare  instead it will end up creating a PR.
Wont it be better if we use the split valuation. All the requirement for consumable and spare can be taken care.
I do agree from the reporting point of view defintely require a customize report either query /development.
SAP std in PM doesnt give  Order /technical object/ material cost/ batch in a single report.

  • Maintenance Cost Settlement on Profitability Segment

Hi, Can anyone tell me, that how can we settle our Maintenance Cost from PM to a Profit Center. In my company there is a Cost receiver defined as Profitability Segment and available in Settlement Rule. Can anyone explain, what does it mean. Are we settling out Maintenance Cost to profit Center directly or somewhere else.

    Abhishek Sharma,
Yes, you can settle a Profit Segment.
Have a look at the Settlement Profile assigned to your order type (IMG: Maintain Settlement Profiles).

  • Maintenance Cost Budgeting

    Hello,
I have created a maintenance Plan. the strategy is BPMWEK. Total of 52 weeks. I have inserted one operation in the task list which is assigned to the maintenance plan with time line of 2 hours.
When i do the maintenance cost planning using tcode IP31, the system is calculating total hours as 106 instead of 104(52 weeks * 2hours). Why is it so?

we are using ECC6 EHP4 version. Maintenance Cost Key Figures in MCI3 and MCI8 Reports are not reflected the cost as given in different value categories in work orders. I have configrured the PMIS "Assign Value Categories to Maintenance Cost Key Figures" and Valuation Cateogies are also rightly configured. is it some bug or am I missing some thing. Please help

    Thanks for your help.
I checked transaction code OMOS. all infor structure are on monthly update which is fair. however, I rebuilt the info structure through folllowing navigation path and it worked.
believe ur info structure S070-MCI7 is not getting update correctly , suggest u to run a statistical update via

  • Can I do plant maintenance cost planning in functional location wise?

    Dear Experts,
My customer plans to prepare annual plant maintenance cost planning in "functional location" wise.
    Can this be done?
If yes, what are the steps?
    regards,
    Abraham

    Abraham,
You could do it indirectly in ECC using a cost centre for each FLoc. You can then plan the costs in the cost centre

  • Check for Maintenance Cost Budgeting

    Dear All,
From EHP 5, there is one button in Order create/change screen called "Check for Maintenance Cost Budgeting", but couldn't find any documentation regarding it. I want to know total functionality of that button. Can anyone help me regarding this?

    From Solution Browser:
    Functionality Enhancements
For critical, high-value maintenance orders, it is essential for the planner to check to see if enough budget provision is available for maintaining a technical object. Based on the results, the planner can request approval for the order and the cost controller can approve the work. The budget forecast is retracted from the maintenance cost budget. Actual utilization is calculated based on past orders and work in progress.

    Hi Hafez,
The question is not clear to us.
pls provide clear view of the following things:
    1. Whether you wish to view cost of counter based maintenance plan or maintenance cost plant wise.?
    2. You wish to view actual cost or planned cost.?

  • Is traversal calls neccessary in VCS maintenance cost?

    Hi all,
I'm looking at a quote for a VCS control and pondering all the maintenance costs.
I can understand it for hardware and various software options but do I really need to pay maintenance for the non-traversal call licenses?
Is that strictly neccessary in order to get support and software upgrades for my units?
    Cheers!
    Jonas

Yes, you should purchase the maintenance for the complete product (VCS + all the licences).
Cisco could chose to not support your VCS if it was only partially covered by support and maintenance and didn't include coverage on all the installed licencing.
The same goes for TMS, and the additonal Device Licence packs - they incur an additional maintenance cost as well, and while you could just take out maintenance on just the base TMS product, if you're not paying for support for the complete product, Cisco could chose not to support it, or charge you for any time spent.
You'd have to check the fine details of the wording on the actual maintenance contract you sign up on.

  • OWB Maintenance Cost

    Hi,
We all know licensing cost of OWB is zero as it comes free with oracle DB....
can anyone help me in calulating the maintenance cost of OWB.....what all needs to be considered.
    Thanks

    Hi
Not all of OWB is free, see the following for details:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/licensing.html
There is a free component - but there are costed options including ODIEE (which was Enterprise ETL), Application Adapters, Data Profiling and Quality, Data Watch and Repair that are paid parts.
Regarding the real-world comments on maintenance interested to hear.
    Cheers

  • Total Maintenance Cost

    Dear All..,
What is the best way to capture total maintenance cost (Only material+service cost) in a single PM order.
    - What if budget is mentioned in the order?
    - How should be the settlements happend?
    - Is it possible to capture service cost through budget and material cost just allocate to cost center without affecting the budget?
    Waiting for your valuable inputs..
    Thanks in advance...

    Hello,
You can  capture total maintenance cost (Only material+service cost) in a single PM order by using the WBS element in oreder.
In this WBS Element you can maintain Activity for Only material+service cost.
    - What if budget is mentioned in the order?---> You can Control it by WBS release functionality.
    - How should be the settlements happend?-->Settel the  Order Against the WBS
    - Is it possible to capture service cost through budget and material cost just allocate to cost center without affecting the budget--Using this WBS not possible.

  • Maintenance cost per production output

    Dear All
I have to create report based on Maintaince cost per production output
and this report is company code wise and Fiscal year period wise ,
now i got two different cubes from where i can get that cost
    1) 0PM_C01 for Maintenance Cost
    2) 0PC_C01 or IC_C03 for Production output in tonnes

    Hi,
If the selections used for the query are available in both the cubes,ie company code and fiscal year, then just create a multi cube over it containing both maintenance cost and production output. Map it to the correct fields from the cube and create a report with formula to calculate maintenance cost per production using maintenance cost from  0PM_C01 and production output from 0PC_C01 or IC_C03.
    Regards ,
    Shyam.

  • How to measure Availability Complexity Operation & Maintenance Costs etc

    Dear All
We have multiple configurations for attaining High Availability, Maximum Availability with and / or across data centers for databases. Some employ Active - Active Clustering Solution while Some use Active - Passive Solution. Some employ only OS clusters like Sun Clusters,Veritas clusters. Often as I noticed, a combination of OS cluster say Veritas Cluster as well as Oracle Cluster (Clusterware + RAC) in their database solutions.
In such situations how does one come up with Quantitative analysis of each methodology? What are the inputs one would need and how does these calculations come up? While searching on internet, I have seen at times ACTIVE - ACTIVE Database clusters using VCFS and Oracle Clusters RAC say the availability is some 99.xx% while other approaches are accordingly rated. How does one come up to such quantitative decisions? Could you please advice.
I was asked to come up with such numbers in terms of below mentioned items for a few approaches I suggested.
    Availability of the Database
    Complexity of Architecture and understanding.
    Set up costs.
    Operational Costs.
    Cost of Maintenance
For your understanding I've suggested below approaches to attain High availability with Production Data Centre.
Approach - I : I will have Active - Passive Database running on node a and b respectively. DB1 will be active on node a and DB2 will be active on node b. In the event of failure they will fail over to the alternative.
Approach - I : I will have Active - Passive Database running on node a and b respectively. DB1 and DB2 will be active on node a and node b will always running waiting for a failover event. In the event of failure they will fail over to node b.
Approach - III : I will have DB1 and DB2 active on Node a. We could configure Dataguard (Logical or a physical standby) on node b in the production data centre.
Approach IV : I will have a two node cluster running RAC and will have ACTIVE- ACTIVE database DB1 and DB2 running on them.
Personally I like the Approach IV. However, for business reasons, we need to make a decision based on quantitative analysis done.
If one of you have already done one such excercise, could you please share yoru experiences here?
Many Many thanks for all your guidence in this direction.

Non Availability of the Database: Time taken to detect failure+ OS failover + starting of the database
Complexity of Architecture and understanding: From oracle side there is no complexity as hardware cluster takes care about this
Set up costs: If management has already decided to have one server for each database, then no extra cost except the cost of license of the hardware cluster. Else cost of extra server.
Operational Costs: (None) (Excluding the dba/sa task to verify the failover)
Cost of Maintenance: (None) (Excluding the dba/sa task to verify the failover)

Non Availability of the Database: Time taken to detect failure+failover+starting of the database*2 (Since both the database needed to be failover)
Complexity of Architecture and understanding: From oracle side there is no complexity as hardware cluster takes care about this
Set up costs: If management has already decided to have one server for each database, then no extra cost except the cost of license of the hardware cluster. But you would be underutilizing your one server and over utilizing your another server
Operational Costs: (None) (Excluding the dba/sa task to verify the failover)
Cost of Maintenance: (None) (Excluding the dba/sa task to verify the failover)
Approach - III : I will have DB1 and DB2 active on Node a. We could configure Dataguard (Logical or a physical standby) on node b in the production data centre.
Non Availability of the Database: Since there would be a manual intervantion here. Down time would be (Time taken to detect failure+ time taken to activate standby database)*2 (Since both the database needed to be failover)
Complexity of Architecture and understanding: Complex since data gaurd need to be setup.
Set up costs: License for extra two database and for data gaurd.
    Operational Costs: (None)
Cost of Maintenance: Verification that log files are continuously shipped and that there is no lag.
Also note if the database is not in maximum protection mode, chances are that you would loose data. If they are in maximum protection mode, then there would be a performance impact to your production server.
Approach IV : I will have a two node cluster running RAC and will have ACTIVE- ACTIVE database DB1 and DB2 running on them.
Non Availability of the Database: None till the time both cluster goes down.
Complexity of Architecture and understanding: Complex since you would be using RAC
Set up costs: Am not sure about licenscing part of RAC
    Operational Costs: None
Cost of Maintenance: Nearly double then using single node Database.
Personally I like the Approach IV. However, for business reasons, we need to make a decision based on quantitative analysis done.
If one of you have already done one such excercise, could you please share yoru experiences here?
Many Many thanks for all your guidence in this direction.

SaratI have not come up with the exact number since it would depends on the infrastructure and hardware.
Moreover Non availibility of database was only due to the fact hardware is not available it does not include the non availibility of database due to the issue with database. If there is issue with database, then even the passive node would not be able to handle it except only inthe case of data guard.
