Maintenance Optimizer config step-by-step

I am not a SAP Basis Person,I install Solution Manager 4.0.
Now i want to configure it for SAP Service Pack downlod purpose.
Can any one help me in this regard in simplest way to configure Maintenance Optimizer.

Hi Gyan,
when setting up the Maintenance Optimizer, you will have to carry out the basic configuration steps from the Implementation Guide of your Solution Manager system (transaction SPRO):
SAP Solution Manager
- Basic Settings
-- SAP Solution Manager System
Follow the instructions step by step! Another important point from the Implementation Guide can be found under:
SAP Solution Manager
- SAP Solution Manager System
-- Activate Integration with Change Request Management
Furthermore check, if all necessary BC-Sets have been activated (Transaction SCPR20), these BC-Sets are as follows:
SOLMAN40_SDESK_BASICFUNC_000
SOLMAN40_CHARM_BASICFUNC_001
SOLMAN40_MOPZ_TTYP_SLMO
Make sure to have the table AISUSER maintained as described in the IMG, and check if the destination SAP-OSS (transaction SM59) is having the right settings.
Do not forget to assign a Logical Component to your Solution Landscape in the transaction SMSY.

Local logical system is not defined-Maintenance Optimizer Config

Hi,
When I try to configure Maintenance Optimizer in SAP Solution Manager 7, it gives me an error saying "Local logical system is not defined"
But I have created a Logical client using SCC4.
And the other thing is for this created client, does not have any users on this client, If I run,
SQL> select bname, UFKLAG from sapsr3.usr02 where mandt='400';
Answer is "no rows selected"
So I cannot even login in to my new client as well. I tried with SAP/PASS no use. I tried to re-set sap by deleteing it nothing helped.
my login/no_automatic_user_sapstar parameter also have 0 (But this is in Red, I dont know why its like that)
Please help me to rectify both these issues. Issue with Maintenance Optimizer and loggin in to the new client.

First of all, 'Logical System' and 'Logical Client' are two different things.
For Client Problem:
You did create a client in SCC4.
1. did you create a logical system via BD54 and then did you assign that logical system to this newly created client ?
2. did you perform a local client copy to put data into this new client from an old or from a standard client like 000 ?
If you didn't perform above two things, then please do. Only then, you will be able to see some data in this client and will be able to to select statements, And, obviously the SAP*/PASS login (login/no_automatic_user_sapstar should be 0 after reactivation of profile and restart of the instance)
For MOpz issue:
Could you please search in sap marketplace for any particular note specific to MOpz ?

What is best practice for using Maintenance Optimizer to download SPS + EhP

SAP indicates in note 1095233 and many other documents that the best practice is to implement an EhP along with an SP Stack in the same queue. Furthermore, the only way to download the components of an EhP is via Maintenance Optimizer. However, in step 2 (Calculate download files automatically) you must choose either Maintenance (SPS) or Enhancement Package Installation (EhP); there is no way to tell Maintenance Optimizer that you want to download both SPS and EhP.
In developing the process for my team I circumvented the problem by saying to select Maintenance first to get the SPS into the Download Basket and follow that with selecting Enhancement Package Installation to get the EhP into the Download Basket. The plan would be to include all the downloads in the SPAM/SAINT queue with the expectation that SPAM/SAINT will be able to determine what must be included.
I'm wondering now whether that is a legitimate way to approach this and I am hoping others will share their process.

Actually, I don't believe you will get the entire SP Stack for ERP 6, you only get those pieces of the stack that are required for the Technical Usages you select for the EhP. I'm basing that on my observation that you get a different subset of the files making up the stack depending upon your TU selection. Also, note 1095233 specifically states:
If now the corrections included in the enhancement package 3 correspond to ERP 6.0 SP level 11, SAP recommends to update also the parts of your system to SP level 11 which you do not want to update to enhancement package 3 to achieve a consistent correction level in all parts of your application: SAP recommends to update all software components to the correction status corresponding to SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 11 with the installation of SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP ERP 6.0.

Another document is attached in Note 990534.
If you have further issues, Note 1024932 might be a good starting point.

Failed to download object via Maintenance optimizer

Hi
I am downloading the file "ST-PI 2005_1_700" via Tx. DSWP and Maintenance Optimizer. If I choose the file and see my Download Basket in Download Manager I am getting the stnadard error "You need Maintenance Optimizer in order to download the objects".
What is wrong, because I am usíng MO and the user has SAP_ALL profile?

What is the status of the file inside 'Download basket'. I am guessing that it's yet to be approved,
To approve the request, you have to confirm the download basket in Maintenance Optimizer.
In the step-3 'download file' inside maintenance optimizer first select 'Confirm files in Download basket'. then it will open a pop-up window showing files waiting to be approved inside download basket. Select the required files and select 'confirm download'. Then you will be bale to download files from the download manager.

Deleting existing maintenance items in maintenance optimizer

It is possible to delete the maintenance optimizer transaction using the steps below:
SE38
-> Run report "CRM_ORDER_DELETE"
-> Enter the maintenance transaction number(ID) of the transaction in "Business Transaction Number" and "SLMO" for "Business Transaction Type"
-> Execute
If the client role is set to 'Production', you would need to temporarily set it to 'Customizing' in order to delete the MOPZ transaction via the report above.
In general, it is possible to follow the note 1329247 and use the archiving object CRM_SERORD with transaction type SLMO to
archive maintenance optimizer transactions. Please note that only maintenance optimizer transactions with status "Completed" or "Withdrawn" can be archived. The transactions can be displayed using transaction code "/tmwflow/maintenance".
It is possible to archive EWA services via the report RDARCH_ARCHIVE_DATA_SOLMAN as described in note 546685.

1) Create the system in solution manager (Tr.code-SMSY)
2) For this System to create the rfc destinations.
3) Create the logical component for system.
4) Maintain technical settings of OSS in the transaction code: OSS1
5) In TR code AISUSER maintain the user and OSS id
6) In DSWP transaction codeu2014in settings-global settings have to maintain OSS id and Password.
7)go to tr code DSWPu2014changemanagementu2014support packagesu2014click on maintenance optimizeru2014select the systemu2014continue-confirm files in download basketu2014complete transaction.

Maintenance Optimizer, approval step of download basket

Hello!
Im trying to download an update for our portal from the SAP web site, using download manager. But i can't get the file in download because this one has to be approve. I ve seen that this is done in Solution manager, but i can't find how to do it.Does someone know the step to solve this probleme?

The first Pre-requisite to setup maintenance optimizer is
SOLMAN to be
SP10

Maintenance Optimizer Step 2 - Select Files cannot view

We're using Solman 7.0 EHP to download EHP4 for ERP 6.0. We have maintained in SMSY, system type = ERP 6.0.
From the Maintenance Optimizer step 2- Select files, we cant see both the option of "maintenance" or "enhancement package installation" as shown in the SAP guide. The only option is "Find Download Files" button. Anyone here experience this issue before ?

First of all, please make sure that:
- You are a registered ramp up customer.
- The S-user defined in AISUSER in solution manager has the
authorization to download ramp-up installation files.
Also make sure that you have installed all the notes listed in
1122966 for your Solution Manager release.
The option of installing Enhancement Packages in an ERP 6.0
system is only offered in the Solution Manager Maintenance
Optimizer if the systems assigned to the process are assigned to
the product version ERP 6.0 or ERP 2005 in the Solution Manager
system administration (transaction SMSY).   The product version
ECC 6.0 must not be used for the installation of Enhancement
Packages. The attached Note 1022072 describes step by step how to
change a product version assigned to a system.
The following notes should also be usefull:
   1134872 : Maintenance Optimizer: FAQ for Stack Delta Files in EPS
   1156571 : Maintenance Optimizer: Download Basket and SLM Download
   1168160 : MOPZ: Unicode selected automatically

Error in Maintenance Optimizer in step "Select files for component "

Hi everybody,
i would like to download patches for my system. I have defined a solution and now i will start the Maintenance Optimizer procedure to download, but when i press a button "Select Files..." an error "the page cannot be displayed" occurred.
Does anybody know what should i check in my configuration? Where can I find more details for error?

Here is the whole solution for you.
Hope you have implemented the note 990534 properly.
This is what I have done to resolve the same issue -
Apply patch ST-ICO 8 and 9
generate BC set SOLMAN40_MOPZ_TTYP_SLMO_000
generate BC set SOLMAN40_CHARM_PROXYFACT_001
If the error still persist, you will need to work on the below notes. (997780)
Goto SPRO - IMG>SAP SOL MGR>SCENARIO SPECIFIC>CHANGE REQ MGMNT>EXTNDED CONFIG>CHANGE TXN>CONSISTENCY CHECK IN CHANGE REQ MGMNT (define basic settings SOCM_CHECK_002)
Deselect the 'Integr' field (integration with change management is required) for the checks listed below. The system issues a message stating that changes are not allowed and that the entries are SAP property. This is only a warning message. Choose ENTER to ignore the message and save your changes.
Checks:
           IB_SYST_CHK
           S_USER_CHECK
           REQUEST_IN_PROCESS
           SOLUTION_ASSIGNMENT
           PRODUCT_ASSIGNMENT
           S_USER_CHECK
           EMPTY_CONTAINER
           SYSTEM_STATUS_OK
If you are getting the error "no active ibase" after this, try to implement 1030498.

I activate from spro -> Initial Configuration II, then activate BC Set for mopz and now everything works fine.
