Maintenance plan category
I have set maintenance plan categories as notification,inspection lot,order,service entry sheet in customizing,
but while creating a maintenance plan in the drop down box,service entry sheet option does not appear.Why?

The drop down box only shows descirption of the Maintenance Plan category , put the category name as Service Entry sheet and call object as Service Entry Sheet in config , view SM30 : V_T399W_I ,

I have created a maintenance plan category ZQ , copying PM category in the golden client, and transported it to test client. This customized plan category is not populated in the transaction IP41 in both servers, golden client and test client. whereas this value is populated in list edit(IP15) maintenance plan category. I have checked in SPRO setting also and is available.
Path of config:
spro>plant maintenance and customer service>set maintenance paln category & assign number range.
Is there anything missing?In the configuration have you set the call object correctly. Call object must be a PM object for it to appear in IP41, but can be anything to appear in IP15.
I have replicated this and cannot find any issues - ZQ is available in both IP41 and IP15 transactions, call object used - Maintenance and Service orders -

Check the number range customizing again via IP20. Use the groups option to ensure your number range interval is assigned to the maintenance plan category. Also check that maintenance item number range is maintained correctly via IP21.

You have maintained the following data for the service product that you subsequently entered in the outline agreement under Logistics --> Customer Service >Service Agreements>Environment -->Sales and Distribution -->Service Products:
· Plant for maintenance planning
· Work center
· Order type
· Plant of maintenance work center
· Business area
· General maintenance task list (you cannot assign equipment task lists or functional location task lists)
· Task list type
Then-you have created an outline agreement that fulfils the following conditions:
1)The contract category is Contract.
2)The contract type is Service and Maintenance.
3) On the tabstrip Sales, you have specified
I)the start and end dates of the contract
II)service product as outline agreement item
4)You have specified the start and end dates for billing in the billing plan under Goto> Item>Billing plan.
When Creating the Maintenance Plan for Above Contracts
1)When creating a maintenance plan, you choose an appropriate maintenance plan category.
Maintenance plan category with reference to an outline agreement, maintenance call object u201Cservice orderu201D
Enter the following data:
1)Valid outline agreement

How to change maintenance Strategy in Maintenance Planning?
Hi Friends
In our maintenance plan, maintenance plan additional data, maintenance strategy is defined as 3M6M. Within this strategy, maintenance cycles are defined. Now we want it to change to the maiintenance strategy, 2M that is bi monthly. How to do it?
Do I need to chage it in the maintenance plan category? I am very new to PM. Pls explain.

It is not possible to change the maintenance strategy once assinged to task list,other option just try in the task list select the operation and select the maintenace package ,here delesect all the maintenance package alloted and then try to change it.
First delete all the operations in the task list ,then system wil allow you to change the maintenance strategy.
Best way is to create new maintenace plan with new strategy.

it is the different maintenance plan category with different ,maintenance call object ,hence you can define each maintenance plan category with number range according to your requirement

Maintenance Item assignment to a Maintenance Plan
Dear Expert,
we need some help about the following scenario.
Currently we are working on preventive maintenance in SAP ECC 6.0 system. We have created several maintenance items without assignment to maintenance plans in order to use them like models: to make quickly the creation of a maintenance plan our users can choose the suitable maintenance item from a range.
In these items we have inserted only strategy and maintenance task list but we have not insert the technical object.
We carry out the following steps:
1. we run transaction IP42;
2. we insert the maintenance category and the strategy;
3. in the tab "Item" we press the button "Assign more items";
4. system runs report RIMPOS00 (Display Maintenance Item: Selection Criteria) in order to select the item to insert in the maintenance plan. In this screen the followin fields are locked (we can not change them):
- "Maint. plan cat.";
- "Maintenance strategy";
- "MaintPlan assignment" and the radio botton is set on "without".
In this way if a maintenance item has been already assigned to a maintenance plan users can not select it for the current plan.
In your opinion could we open the radio buttons for the field "MaintPlan assignment" ? Could anyone help us ?

After clicking on Execute button u will get a pop up " Customising list editing "Double click on selection do the changes & save.

Table for maintenance plan and maintenance cycle and Unit
Hello,
I need to know the table where the values are stored for maintenance plan, maintenance cycle and Unit.
I know that we can get the maintenance cycle and unit from MMPT table.
Question 1
If the maintenance plan has only a single cycle then the data is stored in above table MMPT, but if a maintenance plan has mutiple cycles like 1 maintenance plan has maintenance cycle as 364 Days and 1092 days then the data is not stored in MMPt table.
Question 2
Requirement is I need to develop a report where in I need maintenance order, maintenance plan and the relevant maintenance cycle and unit. Supose an maintenance order is created for the above maintenance plan which has 2 maintenance cycle how can I identify for which maintenance cycle the order is created.

Automatic Material PR generation from Maintenance Plan/Order
Dear All,
I required some setting related with Automatic Material PR generation from Preventive Maintenance Plan/Order.
Query: how can i set the non stock material so that when my maintenance plan gets generated then system will automatically generate the material PR for that Non stock material mention in task list.

SushantOperations & Components can be defined only in task list, not in Maintenance Plan. While defining components in task list, you have no option to select the Item category.
So, define BoM for the Equipment with appropriate Item category, select those materials in task list, so that you can get the PR for components from Maintenance Order.
Instead, you can define the components directly in PM Order as well. -
Problem -repeated automatic calls thro' maintenance plan

I m facing a problem in CS module . Repeated service orders being getting created through each maintenace plan for the 3 type of service order which are created by us .
problem description : repeated call thro' maintenance plan in every year even after giving restriction of one year as a SCHEDULING PERIOD.
Preface :
1 . Currently we are creating single cycle plan for individual or multiple equipment through mainteance plan category service management
2. We are expecting only one call for each equipment plan in yar , however it is getting created in next year automatically

You can use the indicator Completion requirement in the Maintenance plan scheduling parameters. If you set this indicator, the system only generates the next call object once the preceding call object has been confirmed.
Go through this documentation-
For call objects which already exist, this means the following:
The next order is only created once the preceding order has been technically completed.
The next notification is only created once the preceding notification has been completed.
The next service entry sheet is only created once the preceding service entry sheet has been accepted.

I think you are looking for directly calling services (Calling Service entry Sheet) from maintenance plan.
For that you have to create a purchase order or framework order with account assignment category as U or F and item category as D. Here you can assign your services directly in frame work order.
Settlement Order you can create as normal order IW31 purpose is to capture the cost on order for all the services.
Then you can create a Maintenance plan and after scheduling a service entry sheet will be called directly from the maintenance plan as per your cycles.

I have the following scenario:
There are 3000 equipments, for each of them multiple maintenance cycles: 2000 hours, 3000 hours, 2500 hours and so on.
I have created a maintenance plan PM category with cycle set.
For each equipment had been maintained cycle set sequence, counter and measurement document.
Each cycle sequence was assigned to a maintenance item (combination of equipment number and task list).
I have the following questions:
- when I scheduled this maintenance plan, only one line was appeared; how can I do so the scheduling create more lines, one for each sequence?
- if I count the operationg hour so the planned number is reached, no maintenence notifification or order is created
- how can I get the counted hours directly from PP confirmations - so as not to register measurement documents manually?

Lets take your queries by points:
1. in maintenance dashbord (IP10) if u use cycle set system will always show a single line item untill you will use multiple counter plan or if u are using multiple counter plan just check the scheduling parameter and set scheduling peroid for 1 year or 365 days etc.
2. for updation of counter through PP confirmation u need to use the exit for the same.
you can use CONFPP05 exit.
With this customer enhancement you can update your own data once you
have saved the confirmation. You cannot change the confirmations.
In this customer enhancement it is strictly FORBIDDEN to send error
messages or other messages because otherwise there is the danger that
data will be inconsistent. SAP takes no responsibility for this !!!
The following are copied to the interface: a table with all the
confirmations (AFRUD) created in this transaction and a table with the
order headers (CAUFVD) that belong to it.

"Value cannot be null" error when trying to edit or create Maintenance Plan in SQL Server 2008
I have SQL Server 2008 installed on Windows Server 2008 64bit, every time I try to open or create a new Maintenance Plan I receive the error:
Value cannot be null.

Operating System 6.0.6002I digged a little deeper and figured out it was a missing directory/file in %TEMP%. Seems some CleaningTool removes all files/directories in %Temp% and after that SSMS was not working any longer. The missing file is actually not needed, but the
missing directory causes the "Value cannot be null" error.
My missing file name was:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\2\6vvdaozf.tmp
But the file name changes on every startup.
So my missing directory name was:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\2
After creating a empty directory with the name "2" in %TEMP% all went back to work fine for me.
I'm not sure the directory name is every time the same, but you can discover your missing file with the process monitor from Sysinternal Tools and filters to "Process Name is ssms.exe" and "Path contains AppData\Local\Temp"

running SQL2008 and temp is correct there. If I try to rename the numbered folder SSMS stops working. Any idea? -

The start of the plan is not option as this will surely have an impact. Anyway, work around for this issue was provided and this is OK now. We will continue with the old orders untill such time they will finally be closed. No postings will be created against this old orders and if there's a need to do GR new orders will be created in new plants for the postings.
