Maintenance plant in organisation structure & equipement master
Hi Gurus
There is small confusion about fixing the organisation structure.In fact the client is supplying thier asset (equipment) to customers and charging rental. The Nurses are mainly supplying the equipment and then doing periodic visit, trouble shoot. Nurses spreads all over the country and they do service according to patinet location. If any issues on equipment technicians are solving. The nureses are assigning by delegator for work , however the periodic visit is planning and doing by nureses. About the repairing the workshop technicians by receiving from the client stores.
When considering to this all points I dont thing we need to insert a maintenance plant in master data, organisation structure. Is it right? I think there will be 3 planner groups delegator , nurses and workshop. Also the work center is not required since we track visits are tracking by sales and just notifcation is information purpose we decided to use. Is it right?

To identify the equipments based on location, you have to create the maintenance plant & location, assign the location to maintenance plant.
Create one maintenance plant (planning plant also same) & create work centers according to that. I guess, work centers are required as they are doing service to the patients.

Error when trying to change maintenance plant of a PM equipment
We need to change the maintenance and planning plant of an equipment in order to specify his new location when it is transfered. Although it is described as a normal procedure in SAP help, we receive error message IO 231 saying that "maintenance plant A and planning plant B are in different controlling areas" and SAP does not let us proceed with the plant change ! Did anybody have the same experience ? I believe that it is probably a customizing setting somewhere in FI-CO ! Any help is welcome.

here is what you find in SAP help:
<u><b>Changing the Maintenance Plant</b></u>
<u>Prerequisites</u>
It may be necessary to change the maintenance plant for a piece of equipment. For example when it is to be installed at a functional location which is in another maintenance plant, or when it is to be used in another maintenance plant from now on.
However, you can only change the maintenance plant for a piece of equipment, when the piece of equipment is no longer installed at a functional location.
<u>Changing a maintenance plant has the following consequences:</u>
-The system automatically clears all fields of the master record that are dependent on the maintenance plant.
-A change of maintenance plant can result in a change of company code, which causes the system to clear all fields that are dependent on the company code.
-The company code change can produce a change in the <b>controlling area</b>, which means that the system clears all fields dependent on the controlling area.
So for me, it is clear that having plants in different controlling areas should not prevent us from changing the equipment maintenance plant.

ITOB is Table for Functional Location which will give Maintenance Plant & for Equipment which will give Maintenance Plant

Equipment master creation with classification
Hi,
In plant maintenance how can create the equipement master creation with classification.

In SAP system,you only have to input the Equipment details like Mnaufacturer,Warranty,WBS element etc.
Now which fields are mandatory depends on business.
In classification,you have to choose Equipment Classification Type as 002 and then Choose the Class,for example BLOWER.
Once you choose the Object you will have many dependent fields to enter value into,just do that and save.

Archiving and deleting of equipment master data in plant maintenance module

Can anyone explain me the process to archive and delete the equipment master data in PM module using archiving tools.
I tried doing it thru t-code SARA, would be grateful if anyone can help me with the steps to follow to archive the equipment master data.

I tried doing the same in IDES, but unfortunately the archive file is not getting generated when i write it. I have clearly specified in the variant to create an archive file. Can you please explain how does the system generate an archive file. And also in the customizing " Archiving Object-Specific Customizing " techincal settings, i have maintained the production variant and have marked start automatically.

Organisation structure-multiple plants miltiple POrg
Hi,
we have one company code 1000 which have three plants 2000, 3000, 4000.
each plant has its independent Porg and purchasing activities, different master records and vendors.
Porg are 1000 for plant 1000
Porg are 2000 for plant 2000
Porg are 3000 for plant 3000
I have assigned each POrg to the respective plant.
Do I have to assign each of these POrg to the Company code 1000 or not?
Please guide me to the right method in assignment of organisation structure.
I am not looking at IMG path or T-code.

If you have assigned Plants to your Purchase organization.
As i see understand your scenario it is Plnat Specific purchasing
in this case, you assign the plant and the company code of the plant to
the purchasing organization. The purchasing organization may procure for
this plant only.

Creating Equipment With Same Equipment No. In Different Maintenance Plant
Dear Gurus,
Is it possible to create equipment with same equipment No. (external Numbering) in different maintenance plant of same company code?
We have 2 plants, plant 1000 & plant 1100 & the geographlocal locations are different. These 2 manufacturing plants belong to same company code. We have implemented plant maintenance system for plant 1000 & now want to roll out the same system at plant 1100. In plant 1000 we have equipment with equipment No. M323 (External Number). Now we want to create equipment with same no. in plant 1100. How can this be done? or is it necessary to have different no.? please advice.

As Equipment master data is client specific, you cannot have the same equipment number for same category of equipment, though plants are different.
Yes, you can do it if equipment categories are different.

Creating organisation structure (SPRO) for an integrated steel plant
HI,
For an integrated steel plant of 2.2 mt capacity (green field) need organisation structure to define. It would be a single legal entity under which the plant would produce wire rods, reinforement bar, billets, coke, sinter, ductile iron pipe, power, pig iron. The ISP will have Blast furnacec, SMS, rolling mill, coke oven, sinter plant, pallete plant, oxygen plant, lime plant, dolo plant, raw materila handling plant, power plant.
Can any body guide to decide the suitable org structure for such spread of manufacturing facilities. We need to identify the hirarchical structure w.r.t Company, Company code, Controlling area, business area, functional area, plant, profit center, cost center with a visioning that in future, the company would come up with other units also of similary capacity.
The plant is at green field stage coming up absolutely from scratch. New set of people has formed the work force top to botton.Desigred reporting (MIS) structure not yet crystalised. Have bent of mind to accept best practice. The plant is in Indian environment.

Peri.what doesn't it do the same ? it contains planning plant and maintenance plant which you can update ??
if you expect that SAP delivers custom functions for every possible question a developer has you can better search for an other job. SAP makes generic functions and you can use them for you're own sollutions.
it is also expected that you try to work things out for you're own sollution.
you can find sample code quickly enough if you search where the function is used

BAPI to change maintenance plant on Equipment
Hi everyone,
Is there a BAPI which changes the maintenance plant on the equipment. I tried both
BAPI_EQMT_MODIFY and
BAPI_EQUI_CHANGE unsuccessfully.
If any of you have an idea of any BAPI which does the same or if the plant can be changed with the above BAPI's please help.

When using BAPI_EQMT_MODIFY are you populating with BAPI_ILOA-MAINTPLANT = "Your value" as well as BAPI_ILOA_X-MAINTPLANT = 'X'
Don't forget to call BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT if you have no errors in your return table as well.

Maintenance & operation costcentre in equipment master data
We are going to create some equipment related to equipment categories Mechanical (M) & Electrical (E)(Both categories are related to maintenance equipments. And we have two cost centre one for Maintenance (12900 ) & second for operation (12901 ).Kindly suggest me out of these two which one should be default cost centre in equipment master data.

you are booking all your expences on the asset correct i.e on equipment
equipment is run by operations
so the master Data should contain only operation cost enter
As per as budgeting is concern
you should give yearly budgeting to Operations
based on their total expenses is nothing but operation Budget +Maint budget
so the workcenter which you are using that activity type is calacultaed based on cost in Kp26

One of client have below scenario:
They are planning Direct material in one plant (A), Indirect material in other plant (B) & services are planned in third plant (C). while Asset are in fourth plant(D).
Now, from here i am clear that Plant (D) will be Maintenance plant, but now which should be planning plant?
How we handle such scenario?

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Technical Objects>Equipment>Equipment Categories-->Define Additional Business Views for Equipment Categories
Then Select the Equipment Category for which you want deactivate the Sale and Distr. View and Uncheck or Unmark the "S" Column Check box

What is the use of construction type field in equipment master and how can i use in plant maintenance processes or transactions

SandeepConstruction Type is used for identify the equipments having similar construction of materials.
For examples: Identical Mechanical seal used in different pumps.
A BOM can be linked to a technical object in two ways:
By direct assignment: directly assigned BOM
If you create a bill of material directly for a technical object, it is assigned directly. If all the technical objects are identical in terms of structure, the BOM items are valid for all the allocated technical objects.
By indirect assignment: indirectly assigned BOM
For technical objects that have a material BOM - if you enter a material number in the Construction type field of a master record, the material BOM is indirectly assigned to the object. This is a good idea when a company has several identical technical objects grouped under one material number.
