Maintenance Strategy

Hi team,
In my client case I have to use key date bsae strategy "B" for mainteannce planning.with 3M, 6M & 12 M , What should be hierarchy , there is no overlapping for maintenance package bec these three packages required for three different types of machines, with 3 ,6 & 12 months. should it be same hierarchy with H1. & one thing should i need to maintain : Factory calender as per my company factory calende."
Thanx in advance.

Hi,
In general If several maintenance packages are due at the same time, they must have the same hierarchy. If a maintenance package is to replace other maintenance packages when due, it must have a higher hierarchy.
So basically the choice of maintaining the same hierarchy or different hierarchy depends on how the operations are set up and what operations need to be performed from the task list.
If its the same operation for all different types of equipment then you would need to have different hierarchies and assign the operation to all packages in the task list. But then you could have achieved this by creating a simple time based single cycle plan and associate the same task list to three different types of equipment. You wouldn't have to create the Strategy plan at all.
If they are different operations then they could have the same hierarchy, if none of the operations need not be replaced by a different operation.Otherwise they would need different hierarchy.
Yes , you would need to assign your factory calendar to the strategy. If one hasn't been defined, you could define the same using transaction SCAL.

  • How to change maintenance Strategy in Maintenance Planning?

    Hi Friends
In our maintenance plan, maintenance plan additional data, maintenance strategy is defined as 3M6M. Within this strategy, maintenance cycles are defined. Now we want it to change  to  the maiintenance strategy, 2M that is bi monthly. How to do it?
Do I need to chage it in the maintenance plan category? I am very new to PM. Pls explain.
    Thanks
    Sangeeta

    Dear,
It is not possible to change the maintenance strategy once assinged to task list, other option just try in the task list select the operation and select the maintenace package ,here delesect all the maintenance package alloted and then try to change it.
First delete all the operations in the task list ,then system wil allow you to change the maintenance strategy.
Best way is to create new maintenace plan with new strategy.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Material master data maintenance strategy

    Hi,
We are working on a global template to suggest Material master data maintenance strategy.
Please suggest what could be various options for same.

    Hello,
    In the same situation now:
    1.  Suggestion is to load the Basic Data centrally, say from HQ
    2.  Other data can be loaded via the subsidiary in the different countries.
    3.  If required you can use a block or a material statu and have the HQ control the access to the other parts of the material master.
For your information, we have come across a big issue regarding this and only now we have begun the above method as my client's HQ controls the release of materials into the market.

  • IP11-Maintenance Strategy

    Dear all,
Can anybody explain the importance and functions of  the fields " Initial" and "Subsequent" in the IP11 Maintenance strategy where we define the maintenance package.
Explaining with the real time example will be very useful.
    Regards,
    Suresh.

    hi
intial and subsequent function is same as Premilinary and follow up  buffer.which is used as days which system propose as buffer (safety) for start and fininsh without affecting the subsequent due dates of the particular package only.
    Preliminary Buffer
The preliminary buffer specifies how long before the due date for the maintenance package the activities can be started, without the subsequent due dates being changed.
You specify a preliminary buffer of 5 days for each maintenance package in the strategy.
The planned date calculated by the system is September 30. The start date proposed in the maintenance order is therefore September 25.
    Follow-up Buffer
The follow-up buffer specifies how long after the maintenance package is due the processing of the activities can be finished, without the subsequent due dates being changed.
You specify a follow-up buffer of 5 days for each maintenance package in the strategy.
The planned date calculated by the system is September 30. The end date proposed in the maintenance order is therefore October 5.

  • Maintenance Strategy-offset and float in days

What is the offset and lead float in days and follow up float in days of maintenance strategy?

    Hi James,
I might have given intrepretation in wrong way.
Actually call horizon will be used for whole strategy. Its not package based.
For example, monthly package should be called 3 days in advance & yearly package should be called 36 days in advance, etc., then call horizon can be defined. As all the packages are having same % of call object advancement (90 %), that percentage can be defined in call horizon.
But in some case, monthly package 3 days advancement is acceptable to plan the resources. But for yearly packages, 36 days advancement in unneccessary. That will keep the outstanding orders list for long time. Thus when we dont have common % for call object advancement, instead of call horizon, these offsets can be defined in packages.
Like for monthly package, define offset as 3 days. For yearly package, define offset as 10 days. So call object will be created in advance with reference to offset.
In this case, call horizon is not required.
I hope I am clear now,

  • Strategy in task list and Strategy based Maintenance Plan

    Dear Gurus,
    I have some doubt about
is it same if we create a single cycle plan with a task list in which maintenance strategy let say A is being used and a maintenance plan strategy based let say A and task list without any strategy
can some one explain use of strategy in task list and maintenance plan
    Regards
    Armaan

    Hi,
In Strategy Based Plans :- When ur entering strategy in initial screen of IP42 then inside the plan system will allow u to select tasklists created with that strategy only ...
In Single Cycle Plans :-  Here even though if u select tasklist of a particular strategy , system copies all the operations of the tasklist to the order...
From your above example :- Single Cycle Plan if cycle is monthly is equal to strategy based plan having only 1Month package .
further package in strategy allows u to select which operations of tasklist u want for 1Month..

  • Maintenance Item assignment to a Maintenance Plan

    Dear Expert,
we need some help about the following scenario.
Currently we are working on preventive maintenance in SAP ECC 6.0 system. We have created several maintenance items without assignment to maintenance plans in order to use them like models: to make quickly the creation of a maintenance plan our users can choose the suitable maintenance item from a range.
In these items we have inserted only strategy and maintenance task list but we have not insert the technical object.
We carry out the following steps:
    1. we run transaction IP42;
    2. we insert the maintenance category and the strategy;
    3. in the tab "Item" we press the button "Assign more items";
    4. system runs report RIMPOS00 (Display Maintenance Item: Selection Criteria) in order to select the item to insert in the maintenance plan. In this screen the followin fields are locked (we can not change them):
    - "Maint. plan cat.";
    - "Maintenance strategy";
    - "MaintPlan assignment" and the radio botton is set on "without".
In this way if a maintenance item has been already assigned to a maintenance plan users can not select it for the current plan.
In your opinion could we open the radio buttons for the field "MaintPlan assignment" ? Could anyone help us ?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Kind regards.

  • How To Retrieve the Maintenance Package in PM Module for the Maint. Strateg

    Hi All,
I am trying to retrieve the 'Maintenance cycle' for a Package in the Maintenace package of the Maintenance strategy.
I tried table T351P, but except 'Maintenance Cycle' i can see all other fields.
In IP11 and in IP03 transactions i can see the Maintenace cycle field in the grid where maintenance packages are listed.
But could not find a way to retrieve the maintenance cycle.
Appreciate if you guys could help me out in getting the Maintenance Cylce.
    Cheers,
    Jaffer Ali.S

    Tortsen,
I tried the solution suggested by you. Here's what i did :
I executed the  ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS with input field  OBJECTTYPE values as BUS2104.It gives me some entries in the output connections table. From the results , i picked up the ARCHIV_ID and ARC_DOC_ID fields as suggested by you.
I went to execute SCMS_AO_TABLE_GET  with above two values as import parameters and COMP_ID = "data".But it does not give me any output. It says "HTTP error: 404 Not Found". Any idea why is it so?
Then i went to try SCMS_DOC_URL_READ .I find here that there are two mandatory parameters viz . STOR_CAT , DOC_ID.I tried giving the ARCHIV_ID  value above as value for  STOR_CAT . But it does not recognize it.Then i went to the table SDOKSTCA to look for any valid values for STOR_CAT , but i am not sure which one applies to my scenario. How do i find this?
    i'll appreciate any help.

  • BPC 7.5 MS END OF MAINSTREAM MAINTENANCE

    Dear BPC Friends
As you know the end of mainstream maintenance for the version SAP BPC 7.5 MS  is 31.03.2016.
    What does it mean?
Which will be the risk involved if we don't upgrade and we continue to work on this version in the next years until 2018?
    thanks
    Michele

    Michele,
You can find the official "SAP maintenance strategy" on the SAP Support Portal under the tab "Maintenance & Services".
Generally speaking, SAP recommends to upgrade before you reach the end of the mainstream maintenance phase. The delivery of new releases of the licensed software, as well as upgrade tools, are covered by the SAP support contract. Visit the SAP upgrade info center to learn more about the possible transition options and SAP's offerings to efficiently support the upgrade.
Extended maintenance. For many releases SAP offers extended maintenance (at an additional fee, but with all benefits of the mainstream maintenance phase).
Customer-specific maintenance. If you do not opt for an upgrade or for extended maintenance, or if extended maintenance is not offered, you enter  customer-specific maintenance automatically. During this phase, some restrictions apply to the scope of SAP support.
You should discuss this with your SAP account representative if you have one to determine what specific options are available to you.
While product support will do all we can to continue to provide help with any issues that may arrise, it is important to understand that in most cases any additional service packs or patches will not be released so we will only be able to help with known issues. Any new code-related incidents or issues due to new releases of third-party software (web browsers, Microsoft Office upgrades, etc.) will not be supported.

  • Plant Maintenance - Linkage between Task List and Maintenance Plan

    Sir,
In Plant Maintenance, I have an equipment for which there are 9 maintenance activities that have to be performed every year. Out of these 4 activities will be carried out every month. 1 activity will be carried out during the months of February, June and October. 5 activities will be carried out only in the month of December.
I need to create Task List for all these activities and subsequently create Maintenance Plans for all these Task Lists.
Can I group all the 4 activites which will be carried out every month into one single Task List, with separate operation nos and time against each activity?. I don't know whether it is correct or not.
If I use the above method I can create 3 Task Lists for this particular equipment with same Group no and 3 Group Counters.
How to create Maintenance Plan for the above scenario?.
Eventhough, 4 activites are carried out every month and they have been grouped into a single Task List (Group counter 1) and if these activites are carried out on different dates within a month how can I create Maintenance Plan and subsequently create a Maintenance Order?.
I need some help in this regard. A detailed reply will be helpful.
Can anyone throw some light in this regard.
    Regards,
    R. Vijayakumar

you need to create one task list with a maintenance strategy with packages and hierarchy to outline the work requirements i.e. some tasks to be carried out 3 monthly some 4 monthly etc, and also if common tasks appear in 3 monthly package vs 4 monthly package then to suppress the duplicating task
you would then define a strategy based maintenance plan and run it to get the respective maintenance orders

  • Plant Maintenance - Doubts in Task List Creation

    Hai,
This is the first time that I am doing some configuration regaring Plant Maintenance Module.
    Scenario:
There is an equipment which has a Plan for maintenance. Support there are 8 maintenance activities which have to be carried for that equipment in an year. Each of this activity will be carried out in different periods. Some of them will have to be done once in a year. Some may be done once in 6 months.
But all the acitivities will not be carried out at the same time.
Can anyone tell me how this can done?. Should we create separate Task Lists for all the 8 activities and subseqently create a Maintenance Plan for each of them or Create one single Task List which has all the 8 activities by giving Operation nos. In th second case how to create Maintenance Plan for each of the individual Line item in a Task List and how can it be linked.
In the first case can a single Task list be incremented by a Group Counter which can have the individual operation so that a Maintenance Plan can be created for individual Task List incremented by a Group Counter.
In both the cases can someone give me the procedure.
Please throw some light on this subject.
    Regards,
    R. Vijayakumar

    Dear Vijaykumar,
    Jus follow the below steps..
    Step-1
    T-code IP11, Create maintenance Startegy with all required frequencies like 1, 2 3 4 u2026 12 months
    Step-2
In T-Code IA01, On general header view  screen .Enter the datas like Work center, usage, status. Select ur required Maintenance Strategy which u already created.
GO to  operation tab , enter ur list of operations one by one (all 8 operations).
Select all operations and click Mntpack icon on bottom of screen , On package overview screen u can able to select different operation at different frequencies jus tick box and save
    Step-3
In T-Code IP42, select the maint strategy which u have assigned already and fill required details and select Task list which u have created in previous step (link is available in bottom screen) & Save.
    Step-4
In T-Code IP10, schedule the  Maintenance Plan
Now you will get the Maintenance orders automaticaly  based on package u defined and schedule date.
Revert back me in case if u have any doubt on this cycle. Else close this thread.

  • Counter Base Maintenance plan.

    Hi all,
I had created counter base maintenance plan, speciefied equipment,in equipment maintained measuring point.
Then I created measuring point document, in this I had put 50 volt as my reading & click on SAVE,
then system immediated give masage create noti/service order.
if Yes then it create service order.
Now my question is is there any need to shedule maintenance plan?
Please tell me process of counter base maintenance plan.
    kapil

    Hi
       Maint plan for coutner
Create the maintenance plan with maintenance strategy(IP11) which suits the performance parameter. Assign proper maintenance item to maintenance plan.
If only one measurement point is created for technical object then it will be automatically picked up otherwise select appropriate among the available once. Set the scheduling parameter according to requirement & specify the start reading. Start reading is in reference to which maintenance plan starts scheduling.
Example: Maintenance cycle is 90 run hrs., Start reading is 6 hrs and annual estimation given in measurement point = 360 Hrs (1hrs/day). Scheduling period = 365 day. Current Measuring point reading = 1 hrs on 1st Jan 06.
Schedule plan on 1st Jan 06.
    Call no.     @Hrs     @Date
    1     6+90=96     1st April 06
    2     96+90 = 186     1st July.
System schedule call date based on annual estimation and its keep on shifting as counter reading increases with time. System will trigger the call object on schedule date even if measurement reading will not reach the specified value.
    Scheduling of maintenance plan
Once maintenance plan is created it needs to be scheduled at regular interval. Single plan can be scheduled by IP10 and Multiple plan by IP30. (Called Deadline monitoring) This can be done manually or batch job can be created.
hope this will help. also please refere saphelp.com for further info
