Maintenance windows applies only to task sequences doesn't work

Problem:
SCCM 2012 R2 CU4
Task sequence deployment run outside maintenance windows when the maintenance windows is set to apply only to task sequences.
When the maintenance windows is set to apply to All deployments, the task sequence deployment run inside maintenance windows as expected.
The maintenance task defined was as:
Name: Maintenance Windows of Collection Coll_A
Time: 10:30am to 06:00am
Date: 20th March 2015
Apply this schedule to: Task Sequences
The task sequence defined was as:
Deployed to Collection Coll_A
Time: Run as soon as possible
The task sequence run at 9:48am on a workstation that is member of Coll_A.
There aren't other maintenances windows on others collections.
Below the workstation's serviceWindowsManager.log:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=BFBF530F33D996FD!123&authkey=!AI0dFPZ89XCL7xs&ithint=file%2clog

When was the client added to the collection? Was it able to retrieve those MW policies before it received the TS?
Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
1_the client was added at the 9:30am.
2_Yes it is.
I have done another test and the result is the same:
_ first setting up the maintenance windows in Coll_A,
_ then insert the client in Coll_A and force a machine policy evaluation
_then deploy the task sequence in collection Coll_A

  • Timed sequence doesn't work right with external timing source

I'll describe first what I want to accomplish and
then maybe someone can read further and suggest why the attached VI
doesn't work. I have a SMU (PXI 4130) that takes differing amounts of
time to set a current depending on if the setting spans a range
boundary. I want to be able to make that SMU setting and then wait a
specific amount of time (sometimes 1 msec). If the SMU takes a little
longer to return then I want that extra time to come out of the wait
time. To do this I figured I would need an external time source to
control a timed sequence to give better than the normal 1 msec
resolution. So now onto the problems I'm having.
    I've
got two problems here that I would really appreciate some insight on.
The attached VI is the subject of both problems (as is the VI is
worthless, but it illustrates the problem). Note that you need some
type of DAQ board with a counter on it to run it.
    I can't
figure out why this timed sequence doesn't work with an external timing
source. It works mostly as expected (see next problem) with the
internal source, but fails miserably with the external source. Run the
VI as is to get a baseline. Then connect the DAQmx Create Timing Source
VI to the Source Name input of the timed structure. It seems like it
should run exactly the same both ways.
    Problem 2 (run with the
internal timing source). The VI should take the same amount of time to
execute regardless of the input to the Wait VI (within reason of
course). That's actually the main impetus for this whole exercise. But
according to the Actual End indicator it runs faster with a longer wait
    time.

Hi George, I have been playing with the code that you have posted and I think I am seeing what your concern is with regards to the first problem that you stated.  Without running the code I would expect both internal and external timing to cause the VI to run in the exact same manner, however obviously that is not the case.  I am currently looking into this behavior and I will post you a response as soon as I have an answer for you.
As for the second problem, If you look at the manner in which you have coded this VI, a 1ms wait in the first frame will lead to a calculation of 1999ms wait in the second frame, and thus 5 iterations of 1999ms or about 99,995ms total running time.  If you increase the wait in the first frame to say 50ms, then an overall all wait of 1950ms is calculated in the second frame so not the overall iteration time is now 1950 which, over 5 iteration leads to 99,750ms thus as you increase the wait in the first loop the overall loop duration will be less.  This is expected behavior.
Again I will post back once I have a clarification on the internal vs external timing.

  • How to select domain OU for "Apply Network Settings" task sequence step, based on the ip address.

We are finally getting ready to migrate from SCCM 2007 to 2012 R2.
Our current setup has 5 site servers with five OSD setups with boot media and Windows 7 task sequences.
I want to move all that to one site with a single OSD W7 task sequence.
The current, "apply network settings", step adds the workstation to one of five different  OUs. The same with the "apply windows settings" step, we have five local admin passwords for five regions around the state.
I thought I might run five versions of each step and add a condition to each one that would only run if the machine was on the right subnet. Or the right Boundary group or maybe the right active directory site.
Currently I'm creating five boundary groups that I hope to detect by running a power script get-CmBoundaryGroup. Then apply the results maybe as a task sequence variable in the task steps options/Add Conditions.
Anybody have a better approach. Or alternate plan.

Are you integrated with MDT? If so, you can use customsettings.ini to put machines into specific OUs based on the DefaultGateway.
    See these links for ideas:

  • How To: Deploying Windows & Office updates during task sequence

How do you guys apply windows and office updates during the task sequence?
Right now for Windows, I am offline servicing using my software deployment package.
For Office, I had the software deployment package, but can't figure out how to add it to my task sequence. All the options don't allow me to choose the package.
My end goal is to keep everything as up to date as possible, and if people image a computer and run Windows Update, they only have to download 10 or less updates, not 100+.

Is Office part of your image or do you deploy Office as part of your task sequence?
If office is part of your image, i'd recommend that you create a fully automated build and capture process using the MDT lite touch, and use a separate WSUS server to update the image with Windows , Office and other updates.
    It's pretty easy to setup.
Creating a Windows 8.1 reference image:
    http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9845755
If Office is not part of the image, you need to deploy the updates using Software Updates In SCCM as part of your Task Sequence.
Ronni Pedersen | Microsoft MVP - ConfigMgr | Blogs:
    www.ronnipedersen.com/ and www.SCUG.dk/ | Twitter
    @ronnipedersen
It's a task sequence. I'm confused how Software Updates works with SCCM because I do not want to use it to update All Systems. I only want to update it to computers that get imaged which are Unknown Computers. We have WSUS to take care of updates.
If I deploy to Unknown Computers the updates in SCCM, once it joins the domain though to install all the other applications in the task sequence, will updates still go through now that it isn't a "Unknown ComputeR"?

  • Windows 8.1 UDI Task Sequence black background on Install software part

    Hi,
when deploying Windows 8.1 to our notebooks, first part of task sequence we got normal background like shown here:
but after applying OS and drivers and installing CM client, TS goes to installing software but with this black screen:
It all goes well at the end, TS finishes successfully but the question is why is this behavior happening?

    Thank you,

    Hi Yannara,
I would not agree because in Windows 7 deployment we got the above screen through the whole process, but as I said in Windows 8.1 deployment process during install software step screen is black.
With Windows 7, are you really saying, that the entire W7 deployment has a graphical background running all the time? My W7 and W8.1 looks alike, W7 most of the time saying on a black screen something like "prepare for the first time use" and Apps
and Updates are installing during that stage.
But, yes I might be wrong though :)

  • Enabling Remote Desktop for Windows 7 as a task sequence

    Hi there.
I have a task sequence to automate the creation of a base image of Windows 7 x64 Professional. In my base image I would like to have Remote Desktop enabled by default for all users. Is there a command or a script to do this that I can add into my task sequence to make this possible?
    Thanks.

I have to agree except I can't understand why anyone would use anything other than the unattend.xml.  You can do all that plus so much more and it's the way Microsoft provides to do it.  This is my complete x64 unattend.xml version but I also have
an x86 version.  This should give you some idea of it's capabilities.
Drop the unattend.xml file into a package and reference it in the Task Sequence as shown below.  I dropped both my x86 and x64 version of the unattend.xml into the package.  I use an OSD HTA menu on the frontend to let helpdesk pick
between x86 and x64.  I cropped the picture up a bit and took out company specific info but you should get the idea from the screen captures.  This is how I deploy x86 and x64 in a single task sequence. I mark every line with a condition in the task
sequence with (C) which makes it easier to find lines with conditions.  I use the condition to assign x86 and x64 software among other things.  The selection in the HTA pretty much triggers everything.

  • Operating System Package Section Window is blank for Task Sequence

Trying to create a capture and build sequence. I have added Win7 x64 to the 'Operating System Installers' section. But when going into 'Create Task Sequence' I dont have any operating systems to select. (see screenshot).
Only info I found on the web references to beta versions of SCCM 2012. I added server is SCCM 2012 R2 Update 1. (version 5.00.7958.1000).
    Any Suggestions?

During the Create Task Sequence Wizard, this step requires to use a
Operating System Image (a WIM file) and not a Operating System Installer.
An Operating System Installer can only be used by editing the task sequence after the wizard.

  • Aggregation level query "value help" = Only Values in InfoProv doesn't work

    Hi,
I have a problem with Selection Variable for a BEx Query :
    - I'm working with SAP BI 7.0 support package 15
    - My query is an input ready query built for an "aggregation level" based on "real time infocube" (Planning);
    - Characteristic, I want to filter with variable, has query property Advanced->Query Execution for Filter Value Selection = Only Values in InfoProvider
    - Characteristic (info-object) has set the property: Business Explorer tab--> Query Def. Filter Value Selection as Only Values in the info-provider...
    My problem is:
    when I execute a query,
the Select Values for Variables screen appears
I push on the Select from List button
and Select Values For MyCharacteristic appears...
but it shows me all values in master data table of my characteristic instead of only values in the infoprovider!!!
If I build a query for the Real Time Cube it works correctly, but if the query is built for the aggregation level it doesn't work!
Could someone explain me why it doesn't work correctly?
    Thanks in advanced

    Dear Fede,
Regarding the query built on aggregation level please note the following
the aggregation level is always a Virtual Provider built other
InfoProvider and hence it does not have the dimension table and hence
the F4 mode D is not supported.
Therefore when aggregation level is used in a query, F4 does not supportD-mode: 'Only Values in InfoProvider' and all master data values are
    displayed in the value list.
    Reference from the note
984229 F4 modes for input help as of SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI
    4. Since other InfoProviders do not have a dimension table, the system
displays only posted values if you select "Only Posted Values for
Navigation". Otherwise, it displays the values from the master data
    table.
Hope this should clarify your doubts. Please let me know if you have
questions else please confirm the message at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your cooperation and kind regards,

  • Windows Server 2008 - Now F11 Recovery doesn't work

    Greetings all--
I decided to experiment with my TouchSmart 504 and installed Windows Server 2008 (32 bit).  However, since 2008 doesn't seem to like the onboard NIC, I wanted to go back to Vista 64, but now the F11 option to go into system recovery doesn't work.  No matter how many times I press it, it just goes back into W2K8.  Being something less than smart, I didn't make any recovery disks (couldn't find where to do so).  I've ordered the recovery media, but is there anything I can do in the meantime?
    Thanks in advance.

You did the right thing - use recovery discs. To see if the recovery data is still on the HD, go in and see if you still have the recovery partition on the hard drive.

During testing for internet connectivity was instructed to initiate msconfig and reboot in Safe Mode.
After rebooting the sign in security screen asked for my password.  I entered my password that has worked for long time., but system said password incorrect reenter.  tried numerous other passwords non accepted.  changed MS account PW no good. Worked with HP support several hours for 2 days, trying all advanced trouble shooting solutions they recommended. Ran restore, backup and recovery  etc. all failed.  After one backup attempt error message said must get out of SAFE Mode.
How do you do this without correct password?
Ran Hard disk test  passed OK. Now having to clean and remove all programs and personal files per HP Tech.. Will take several hours per HP sTech.  Then  will try again to run System recovery to original manufactures settings.  Huge mess.

  • Image sequence doesn't work

hi everybody I'm having issues with the image sequence function in CS6. When i look at it in the content viewer it works perfectly but when i export it to an SWF file it does anything. is it possible to have this function in the SWF? if the answer is no, how could i insert a 360 image sequence in my swf? thanks, Elia

DPS is used for building apps/folios for Android, iOS and Windows 8 devices (tablets and phones). As BobLevine said,  image sequences are for DPS only. DPS functionality cannot be exported into other file formats.
Try the Flash forum Flash Professional to get some info/help on what the equivalent might be in SWF.

  • Task Scheduler doesn't work

Slightly leading title. It does work when you set the tasks up and works fine for a while. Then all the tasks begin failing at some random point.
I have several small EXEs and a piece of kit called SyncBackup in the server. These are the tasks to be executed.
Sticking with the EXEs I built myself which are .NET apps, these are lightweight apps which connect to a database and write to a log file.
RDP in as Administrator and double-click the EXE - runs fine.
Set up a Scheduled Task to run it every 5 minutes - fine. Right click, run task - executes perfectly. Job complete, last run status fine.
Go away and leave the server for a few days - runs fine.
Then it just stops working with code 0xC0000142. For every single Scheduled Task. Except one which I think returns 0xC01.
Task History shows "Action completed" and "Task Completed" as if it's all working perfectly. But it isn't. No errors logged or evident there.
I have these all set up to run as the Administrator for testing purposes.
Why do these tasks run fine when set up and break "behind your back" at some later stage? What does this error code mean? How do I get these working and importantly, *stay working*?
I've seen stacks of threads like this with no resolution. A common issue appears to be the Start In directory specification.
It doesn't make any difference whether you specify the Start in directory or not. There are no spaces in the file names or paths anyway so quote marks irrelevant.
And, these tasks do work initially - they just break later on.
I've come across a piece of third party kit which emulates what the Windows Task Scheduler does and am tempted to install and use that instead.
But the Windows Task Scheduler always used to work... ;)

I was waiting until this evening to see if restarting the server would fix this.
    And it has.
All the tasks work perfectly - those failing with both the error codes, so that's my own apps and also the SyncBackup tasks.
    For now...
Digging around some more, I'm led to believe this might have something to do with "Desktop Heap" size.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ntdebugging/archive/2007/01/04/desktop-heap-overview.aspx
Thing is, this never used to happen up until very recently on one of my servers, I migrated to a new one (not because of this) mystified by the problem and hoping the problem would vanish. And it did, at first.
One other server I have which runs SyncBackup tasks doesn't have this issue.
All Windows Server 2008 R2 and all up to date with hotfixes.
I'm reluctant to modify the Desktop Heap size without a more detailed understanding and still mystified as to why this all worked perfectly until about three weeks ago.
