Major annoyance - Safari switching tabs/windows after page load

When I cmd-click on a link to open a page in a new tab, it starts to load the page. If I switch tabs or windows before the page is loaded, it will switch back to that tab/window when the page load is complete.
Who thought this would be a good idea?!? This is the kind of impossibly poor user interface that I expect when I run Windows. Why has it infected my Mac? I DO NOT WANT MY SOFTWARE CHANGING MY INTERFACE ON ME!!! When I bring a tab or window to the front, I expect it to STAY in the front!!!!!
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING SANE, FIX THIS NOW APPLE!!!

BTW, this does not happen all the time - only on certain pages. A good example is the Washington Post. Click on an article, then switch to a different tab/window before the page completes loading. When the page load completes, it will switch your tab/window, bringing the article to the front. Very annoying.
I suppose if could be an issue with the site using some severely twisted JavaScript. However, I have never seen this behavior before in Safari until very recently, and it does not happen in FireFox.

Disable tab/window priority page loading

I'm going to use youtube as an example, but this is true for many other sites.
Say I go to youtube.com and cmd-click on a couple links so they open in new tabs. The videos in those tabs won't begin loading until their tab is selected. Again, it's true for other sites as well. It seems like it's a sort of open tab/window priority loading feature. Is there any way to disable this so the tabs will start loading as soon as they're opened?

Can the system automatically start up with OSX and later switch to windows after starting up?

I mean, I don't want to choose between OSX or Windows when I start up. I just want to start up with OSX. Is it possible to only start with OSX and later switch to Windows after starting up, or is there any option?

you want to override the default and reboot into Windows next time?
Use BootChamp or Option key.
But when there are Windows updates it will need to be set to boot into Windows.
Sounds like you don't want to run Windows natively.

Triggering switch user window after delay

Is there a way to automatically bring up the switch user window after a delay (like a screen saver)? One thing I actually like about XP is how it goes to the login screen automatically after the screen saver (but doesn't actually log out the user). I know if I put a password on my Mac screen saver I can force people to open the switch user window manually, but this seems like an unnecessary step.

My requirement is that I want to run a method in backing bean of a page, immediately after the page gets loaded. In that method I want to invoke one of the method action included in the pagedef of this page, conditionally.
I tried using the approach given in the above thread, i.e to use <f:view afterPhase="#{backing_security.setPermPriv}">, but the problem is that our page is not using 'f:view' , so I explicitly added one f:view with afterPhase property set , but it is not working, page it self is not getting loaded, it is throwing the error:

I assume that your view is a page fragment and here - indeed - the f:view tag cannot be used. If you use ADF then one option would be to use a custom RegionController on the binding layer to listen for the render phase to invoke the method. Another option would be to use a hidden field (output text set to display="false" and have this component value referencing a managed bean property. The managed bean property's getter method can now be used to invoke the method you want to run upon view rendering

I have a similar problem in Leopard with Safari not loading pages correctly. I'm trying to troubleshoot now, so let me ask you some questions to see if its the same problem as mine.
Are you using an administrator account? On my machine it only acts up on non-administrator account.
Does Firefox or another web browser load the pages correctly? On my machine it has similar problems to Safari.

Spry Accordion - Tabs open and then close after page loads

I am using a Spry Accordion menu driven from a database.
The menu opens up during the page load and then closes.
I'm using SpryAccordion.js 1.6.1
And to open a preset tab, I'm using:

But, all of the tabs open and then close on page load.

Well to both thanks. Actually I wasn't disappointed as I had a two part question...
I tested the 1.6 JS and remembered that I had to modify the 1.4 so that tabs actually would link. So I reverted back to 1.4.
So, going to 1.6 fixed the open panel on load but "unfixed" the panel tab from linking.....
So changing this in the 1.6 js fixed the link issue as well:

Safari causes system freeze during page load

Description:
I've been trying to figure this one out for a while now (about 2 weeks), without any luck. I've tried reading a couple of threads describing similar problems, but it looks like I've got something else going on here seeing as it affect the entire system. I appreciate any suggestion!
When a window in Safari is open and you're loading a page, it sometimes (almost always) causes a system freeze. Any action performed on any input device within OSX while a page is loading gets delayed by 5-20 seconds. Anything from right-clicking, to opening a new tab in Safari, to navigating to a new folder in Finder.... literally anything. The actual loading of the page is also affected by this. So when I click a link, the page becomes white and the system stalls. After X seconds, the system resumes and the page is displayed fully loaded. Once the page is loaded, everything is back to normal. I can just leave the Safari-window open without anything happening. It's just during the loading of a page.
Using the mouse to move and switch between open windows are the only actions I seem to be able to perform during the system freeze.
When it doesn't cause a system-wide freeze, it will still take forever for any page to load. Which isn't a problem in any other browser and I've never had any speed issues in general on any device.
What I know for sure is that I can solve the problem by closing all open Safari-tabs and windows or closing the app completely, and use Chrome instead. But I do like Safari, so I hope there's another way to fix this.
I should also note that I've made no changes to the system for many weeks now, other than installing whatever updates might have been available on the App Store.
What I've tried within Safari:
- program restart
- reset settings (every option checked)
- disable and remove extensions (only had one installed, LiveReload for Adobe Brackets)
- empty cache
- delete cookies
What I've tried within OSX:
- system restart
- complete OSX-recovery
- activity monitor (CPU, HDD and RAM always within normal values during all of this)
- checked HDD (successfull)
- checked internet-connection (got 50Mbit/s connection, no speed issues, checked on multiple devices)
- tried other browsers (Chrome (OSX) and IE (Win 7, Parallels) both run smoothly)
- turned off IPv6 in terminal (based on a suggestion here at the forums)
- disabled iCloud-sync
- disabled Dropbox
- probably a couple of other things i can't remember right now

So... I finally fixed it.
In addition to the things I mentioned I tried, I also checked if it could be malware-related. It wasnt. I then checked if it was just affecting my user-account or OSX globally. I created a new account and Safari ran perfectly. I therefore assumed it had to be something in my library-folder.
I deleted just about any mention of Safari in the Library-folder (the visible one) and just to be absolutely sure, I deleted the Contents-folder inside Safari.app in the Applications-folder. I then downloaded and installed Safari 7.0.3. Everything runs smooth now.

Firefox doesn't respond when opening a new tab until the page loads completely

When I open a page in a new tab, Firefox freezes until the new page loads completely. I can't switch tabs or do anything. It then works normally. Older versions of Firefox did not have this problem; it only started after I updated a few months ago. What can be done about this problem?

I keep getting an error window saying that this URL is invalid and cannot be loaded. If I exit this window the page loads or the error message reappears a few times then the page loads. Frustrating. Started about 9 months ago.

This only seems to happen using FF3.6.6, not IE.
The page will eventually load but it may need this error closed a few times. Some pages load without problems. I'm using XP SP3 on an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Gb.
Also after a recent FF update on an Apple MacPro 8 core (about 2-3 months ago) , OS10.5 - I keep being asked to approve the use of a couple of fonts despite ticking "do not ask again"....

* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Re-setting Safari so tabs don't re-load?

How do you re-set safari 8.0.2 on a mac so it doesn't automatically re-load all tabs? Re-set always worked. "Clear history and website data" does nothing.

The issue is not how tabs open but how the windows close. Used to be able to select Re-set option and with one click, close all tabs/windows and wipe all history. Now there is no reset option just something called "clear history and website data", which doesn't appear to clear history at all. If it did none of the tabs would re-open. So not sure what it does, if anything
On iphone or iPad when you go into settings and clear history, cookies and data, everything goes away. Worked the same way on Safari on my Mac when I clicked Re-set, but not an option since I upgraded to Yosemite and upgraded Safari.

Firefox 3.6.6 Mac Tabs Unresponsive & Incomplete Page Loads

Ever since the 3.6.6 upgrade for Mac, running under OSX 10.6.4, my tabs load, but then I cannot select any of the "buried" tabs the mouse. The top tab "page load thermometer" at the bottom left of the status bar never completes to the point where it says "Done," despite the page being fully loaded and active. (The bar remains, showing about a 98% load....)

This must be the crappiest upgrade to Firefox. It's totally worthless. I'm currently now using Safari because of it because I don't want to bother with reloading a previous version of Firefox.

Loading... spinner persists after page load complete

Our site uses Ajax and web-services to build html content. At times, the spinning "Loading..." image continues endlessly, seemingly after the page load is complete. This behavior does not occur with Chrome, IE or Firefox. Using the Web Inspector, it appears that all images, xml docs, web-service calls, etc. have completed successfully. Is the site entirely Safari compatible? Maybe some part of it isn't working in Safari, and the browser is still attempting to make it work. I'm not a coder (I can barely do anything with HTML), so what I just wrote might be of no use to you.

Text shifts after page load

When viewing my site online, the page loads and then the text sometimes shifts and re-positions slightly. Long text blocks may even re-format and become one line less in height. This happens in Safari, Explorer, and Mozilla on Mac and Windows. This only happens occasionally but, where it happens, it is consistent and happens every time. I am using Arial standard font, left justified only, and default text settings for space and inset. So no special font or settings at issue. This happened with iWeb 08 as well as 09.
Any ideas please ... it makes my site look so scruffy ...... :o(

Sorry to be slow in coming back on this but I wanted to try Roddy's solution before troubling anybody further. Loosening the text boxes has indeed done the trick. The amount need to loosen is surprisingly large in some cases, and it took several attempts to get everything OK.
