Major argument against replacing HP with HP
Dear HP management,
I have been using an OfficeJet d145 since March 2003, with fairly heavy usage. Works fine except that the document feeder will only tolerate single sheet feed. That's okay, I can live with that. However, this unit uses inkjet cartridge 14 (one color, one black). What is happening at retail office supply stores is that because HP has so many inkjet cartridges to fill the shelves, the retailers in this slow economy are cutting back dramatically on which cartridges they stock. It is now becoming much hard to find cartridge 14. I would say that two or three out of five chains have dropped it.
Now, with the age and usage of my printer, I expected that it would die soon. So I am fully prepared to replace it. I would not have considered any other brand of printer other than HP. Now I am seriously reconsidering that, not because of cost or features, but because I do not want to find, in a few years, that I again have to replace the printer BECAUSE the inkjet cartridges are then no longer available. Prematurely, so to speak, since the printer probably still works fine. Now I see that the model numbers for cartridges have reached 100 for HP and that HP has introduced model 02 cartridge. Recyling the numbers?
I would strongly suggest that HP take a survey of cartridge availability at retailers. When a cartridge availability falls below a certain level, then you put out a major coupon for your loyal users to replace their printer with a newer HP model. That would retain those customers, especially the heavy, long time repeat cartridge buyers. You could even put those coupons in the cartridge rack (alongside the cartridge). The coupon would offer a major discount (not talking $20 on a $150 printer here) if accompanied with say, a used cartridge 14. The retailer would most likely get the printer purchase. Basic trade up retention of long time users. Also supports the retailer too.
First of all, this is a user to user forum so you probably won't get too far with your suggestions posting them here. I'd highly reccommend sending a copy of what you posted to the CEO using the contact HP link above. It should get forwarded to the appropriate group to review for consideration.
Secondly, with the dawning of this new age of technology, namely being able to use a credit card to buy cartridges online and have them shipped directly to you, HP is not likely to try and enforce which cartridges their third party resellers chose to stock, or offer rebates or incentives above what they already do.
Lastly, the fact that your printer is now 5 years old means that all support for your model is coming to an end soon. That also explains why cartridge availability at your local store isn't there anymore. It's time to buy a new printer, time marches on!

After soak test update, I get error messages repeatedly. The majority are "unfortunately, messaging has stopped", but you can replace messaging with "android os", or any other process, as it happens with more than just messaging. I have had numerous people call and ask why I didn't reply to their texts...and I look, but have not received any new texts. YES, I have restarted phone. I have cleared data as well as cache on all apps. I have downloaded the vzw messaging app, which seems silly, since it happens with several different processes and apps, but all to no avail. I am missing texts from my employer, from my family. This did happen, but rarely, before this "soak test". It is now Kitkat version 19.6.3.obake_verizon.en.US. THIS is when I started having problems...like 50 times a day kind of problems! I have seen hundreds of posts all over the internet over the past 3 days. Does no one know how to fix this??? Shouldn't there be a way to revert phone to a pre-update state? and no, hard reset did NOT work!!!! I have been with verizon for well over 15 years, but I have not upgraded my lines and will not in July either. This is ridiculous. It's not like my games aren't working, it is my messaging and "android os"...my lifeline at work!
kristinaf333,
Oh no, I am sorry to hear your messages are not working since the software update. I greatlly appreciate doing all that troubleshooting to try and get the messaging application back in business. I know how much I rely on my messages so I can understand the urgency to get this resolved. Have you had a resolution ticket opened since you started experiencing issues with your messages? Does this happen with all contacts or just some? Please provide additional information to ensure we get to the bottom of this for you.

Replacing Assets With Slightly Longer Versions?
I am putting the finishing touches on a 1.75hr, NTSC 4:3, 14 Timelines, 5.1 (AC3), 2 lead-in AVIs, one Main Menu + 3 Scene Selection Menus (non-animated) and one Play All Playlist Project and have done several +RW burns to check things out. I have made a few minor changes to the AVI (uncompressed) and AC3 files in PP2 - edited, and re-Exported. Mainly adding 2sec. of black at the beginning as some of the Timelines seem to start (set-top players) into the first Title, or Clip; changed some Audio levels and panned the 5.1 a bit, corrected some of my spelling errors; and trimmed a frame, or two, where the Handles were too short at Transitions. Nothing major.
In a Save_As Encore Project, I used Revert To Original, so that the Transcoding info would be cleared. Shut down Encore, moved my old AVIs and AC3s to another folder, and moved my new ones into the original folder, from which the old files (same file names) had been Imported As Asset, into Encore. Nearly everything was fine.
I did notice that on three of the Timelines, when played on set-top, the Audio and Video were cut off, near the new end, but at what I would guess to be the timing for the Assets, that I replaced. It was as if Encore had memorized the exact length of the previous Asset, and applied that to the replacement, truncating the last few seconds (about the length of the Black Video added in PP2, give, or take, the few frames removed, etc.).
Now, I have made the final corrections to the AVIs & AC3s and need to complete the Project. My question is one of workflow. Since Encore seems to recall the old length, and a few of the Assets have changed length again, though not by much, is it better to delete those Assets from their respective Timelines, delete them from the Project, re-Import and just place them on the correct Timeline, or is there an easier way? Or, is there a way to tell Encore to forget what it remembered, regarding the exact length of those Assets? Most of the work is in the navigational linking, and the menus have all been tweaked to my satisfaction, so Id rather not start a new Project. If its just doing the delete, delete, re-Import, drag to Timeline, I can live with that. Just wondering if there is an easier way, that I am not aware of.
Also, and a quick test would probably answer this for me, if I delete an Asset from its Timeline, will the Menu Links be broken, in the time it will take me to re-Import and place the new Asset on the Timeline? Id just rather not destroy my Links if possible. Im guessing that the Links go to the respective Timeline, whether its empty, for a moment, or not.
I know that Neil Wilkes has cautioned against replacing Assets in Encore, but it has worked, nearly perfectly on this Project, with one minor little glitch.
Any thoughts, pointers, cautions, etc. will be greatly appreciated.
[Note to Neil: I dont want to ignore your warnings, as I greatly appreciate all of your posts, but this Project is almost there.]
TIA,
Hunt
PS, maybe I should have posted to the main EncoreDVD2 forum, rather than Importing Assets, but I thought that this question fit here. If it needs to be moved, I understand.Frans,
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry that I did not update that thread - my bad. As I got no replies, I sort of forgot about it, until today. Thanks for that "trip down memory lane."
What I did - Deleted the Assets, and did a Save_As (a Save would probably have worked too, but I do not like overwriting Projects, just in case). I then Closed, and Opened my Save_As Project, Imported those new Assets, and the Menu links were just waiting for me, so not that much work. Problem solved.
Upon a few years' reflection, one course of action, that would likely have saved a few steps, would have been to clean the Media Cache. Even when on uses Revert to Original, or Replace Asset, En can still "remember" some things in the Media Cache, especially if one has already done a few burns, as was my case. In 2007, I was not as aware of that behavior, as I have become with many more Projects, and years of reading of others' issues.
On on hand, En's "memory" can be good, such as the linking to Menus, etc., but OTOH, can get in the way. Guess that we users will just have to benefit from one, and work around the other, as there does not seem to be a way to force "selective memory."
Good luck, and let us know how it works for you.
Hunt
PS - from 2007, I am surprised that this thread survived. So very many (and not just mine) were lost forever with several forum changes. One never knows what will spring out of the "vault... " -
Please be informed me... with my battery or charger problems....
my iPad 2 charger is not working....
since I've got it for five days ago, I only use it for three times....
Are they going to replace it with a new one ?Most likely yes. There's a manufacturers warranty against defects for a year. I'd contact your place of purchase and talk to them about it.

How to replace numbers with text in tax return pdf using Adobe Acrobat X Pro
How do I replace numbers with text in tax return pdf using Adobe Acrobat X Pro? The tax return was created using CCH software. Thanks for your review.
Thanks Bill for your quick reply. CCH software is one of the major
suppliers of tax return software. I found an internal source that helped me
make the changes from numbers to text i.e. "$123,456" to "See Schedule O".
I am not sure if I am working in form or final text. Thanks again! Kelly -
Hello Experts,
First off - I'm a newbee to all this JS and especially with CS3.
I have a string: '
b myDocumentName
which can have it's value as: '
b 00000en_ Generator WX/WY
Problem is, backshlashes ( / )are a bad thing for me...
b Question:
How can I do a 'replace' operation to replace the '/' from the string with a '_'?
I have at the moment:
> var myDocSaveName = oneResult[3]+oneResult[4]+oneResult[5];
> myDocSaveName.replace(what "/", with "");
> myDoc.save ("C:/DATA/"+myDocSaveName, undefined, undefined, true)
I get an error Nr. 25... Offending text:"/"
What am I doing wrong?'what' and 'with' are the names of those arguments. They should not be included in the statement:
myDocSaveName.replace("/", "");
But that still won't work because replace doesn't operate on a string in situ, it returns the modified string. So:
myDocSaveName = myDocSaveName.replace("/", "");
This too has its limitations. It'll change only the first instance of "/", not all of them. To change all of them, you need to restate the 'what' as a RegExp:
myDocSaveName = myDocSaveName.replace(/\//g, "_");
A RegExp literal is delimited by the "/" character, so to have it, alone, as the character to be sought you must use the backslash to escape the character. Then, to indicate you want the replace to happen globally within the string, you add the 'g' after the RegExp.

Replace "+%5Cn" with "%0D%0A"
Hi, i need to replace "+%5Cn" with "%0D%0A" in a encoded message. I used replaceAll() function but it return me this runtine exception "java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException: Dangling meta character '+' near index 0+%5Cn". The same thing happen when i try to replace "\" with "\\" in a message. Can anyone advice me how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
Just to clarify a bit, the first replacement would be done like this: message = message.replaceAll("\\+%5Cn", "%0D%0A");and the second like this: message = message.replaceAll("\\\\", "\\\\");I know that one looks bizarre, but it's because both the Java compiler and the Pattern class will process the first argument, and both use the backslash as an escape character.

Lion replaces text with 'block A' characters in safari
about 1/4 of the sites i vist now (including my own--in safari) have a 'block A' character where there is html text.
does anyone know how to fix this?
thanks. There are two articles on MacFixit about this.
Fonts are implicated in both.
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20087102-263/webkit-sandboxing-conflict-cau ses-safari-block-a-font-problem/
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20085570-263/safari-in-os-x-lion-replacing- text-with-block-a-characters/
Clearing caches and booting to Safe Mode has helped the majority of people experiencing this problem; however, for a few people the problem returns after a while, indicating that either Safari itself or the system's font configuration may be actively corrupting the font cache.
.... (example)
- If this happens, then unfortunately the approach would be to systematically disable system fonts using Font Book until the problem goes away, and then remove the specific fonts that are contributing to the problem. -
What is required to replace ACS with ISE in simple terms?
I am looking to basically authenticate wired and wireless access against the local/AD) user database via Cisco kit
I am thinking all I need is the BASE (perpetual) license rather than the advanced/wireless licenses
Is there a limit to how many devices or users the base can deal with in its simplest form.
I would also like to be able to push out a splash screen for wireless users during authentication. Can this be done just with the ISE Base License alone for a wireless solution (via WLC with LWAPS or Autonomous APs)
thanks
daveyes you can authenticate the user using the ISE and but you need a advance license if you want to use both wire and wireless here is small table to help you understand the license requirements also the max. devices support depends on the type of deployment and with advance feature you have the abilitity of profiling and posturing which provide very good control for admins in the network

I have a MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009 MC118LL/A and I think the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868 is going out. Should I replace it with the exact same drive or is there a better one that is compatible?
I went to my local Apple store last weekend with a similar issue on my 2007 C2D MBP and they quoted me a price of around £60 (excluding VAT) to replace the optical drive. That's about the same price as the external optical drive a bought for my RMBP.
Alternatively you could just buy a 3rd party external drive if you want to save cash but note that the external Apple superdrive is not compatible with MacBooks with built in optical drives. -

How can I sync the new itunes with my iphone and not have my phone data wiped out?

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem. You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back. -

CLEAR :wa_tax.Hi ,
I think you are using the redundant selects to fetch the data from BSEG.
First select all the data into an internal table based on bkpf.
Now you can distribute the data into whatever tables you want using the loop,read-binary search and append statements..
Loop at it_bseg.
read it_bseg where
xxxxx
xxxxx
binary search.
append wa to it2_bseg.
endloop
This avoid several database fetches..

Backup DC past tombstone and need help replacing it with another DC with the same name and IP
Hey Everyone
We have a single domain in a forest with 2 DCs with AD integrated DNS configured. The primary DC with all the FSMO roles is a VM (Server 2008 R2) and the backup DC is a physical server (Server 2008 non-R2).
The backup DC's hardware is very old and has been giving us a lot of issues where the system would intermittently BSOD, freeze, black screen only etc. and as a result, the server was turned off for a very long time, definitely beyond the default tombstone
lifetime of either 60 or 180 days.
We want to replace this bad backup DC with another physical server which became available as a spare and is much newer and in a working condition hardware wise. We also wish to ultimately give it the same name (FQDN) and IP to basically make it an outright
replacement for the current bad backup DC.
My questions are:
1.) If we are in a position where the bad server could possibly physically boot and start the operating system and have network connectivity, will we be able to use DCPROMO as one would normally do to demote this DC, or will it have to be done forcefully,
while keeping in mind as I said that the DC is way past the tombstone lifetime period?
2.) If it has to be done forcefully, I am aware that the meta data needs to be cleaned up in AD on the working primary DC, although I have never performed such a process before. If this is done, are there any other things I need to look out for or do
before I attempt to replace it with the other server which I will set up wit the same name (FQDN) and IP, then add to the domain, and then lastly promote as per normal using DCPROMO?
I know we will have to upgrade the scema to 2012RM as the replacement backup DC will be running this newer operating system.
Anything else you wish to add or point out to me would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Regards,
CTVHi,
I would suggest please do the metadata cleanup using the script and then remove object from below DNS console and then run the repadmin /syncall /Aed
https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/d31f091f-2642-4ede-9f97-0e1cc4d577f3
Repeat running the vbs script till the wrong/unnecessary dc’s are removed.
Cross check the removal – dsa.msc [ad users and computers] > Domain Controllers OU
Adsiedit.msc
Expand domain partition, select OU=Domain Controllers, make sure only the necessary domain controllers are listed.
Delete the incorrect domain controllers.
Dnsmgmt.msc [Dns Management]
Expand the forward lookup zones\_msdcs folder
i. Make sure only the actual domain controllers are listed, delete wrong Alias recordsremove wrong name server records
ii. Select the container [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\dc\_sites_\sitename\_tcp] > delete incorrect _ldap and _kerberos records are listed.
iii. Select the container [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\dc\_tcp] and delete incorrect _ldap and _kerberos records
iv. Expand the [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\domains\guid\_tcp] and delete incorrect _ldap entries
v. Select [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\gc] – delete incorrect HostA records
vi. Expand the [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\gc\_sites\sitename\_tcp] – delete incorrect _ldap entries
vii. Select the [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\gc\_tcp] – delete incorrect _ldap entries
viii. Select the [forward lookup zones\_msdcs.domain.com\pdc\_tcp] – delete incorrect _ldap entries
Expand the forward lookup zones\domain.com folder
i.
Delete Host(A) records of dc’s which are non-existant.
ii.
Correct the NameServer (NS) records
iii.
Follow steps similar to ’ A ii ‘ >> ‘ A viii’
Dssite.msc [Sites and Services]
Expand the [Sites\Sitename\Servers] – delete incorrect server’s
B. Delete incorrect subnet configurations [Sites\Subnets]
Delete incorrect site links [Sites\IP]
