Major confusion re: shared history & open tabs

The subject line refers to a problem I'm having with iCloud shared history and tabs using Safari on my iPad (3rd Gen., iOS 8.3), my iPhone 4s (iOS 8.3), and Safari 8.03 on my iMac (Maverick).
The problem seems to be with my iPad. Using it, I can see the history of what I've done using Safari on the iMac and iPhone but none of what I've done on the iPad. Naturally, what I've done on the iPad does not show up in History on the iMac or iPhone. Similarly, while I can see tabs currently open on the iMac and iPhone on any of the three devices, I can only see open tabs on the iPad *on* the iPad -- i.e., I ca't see them on the iMac or iPhone.
I'm logged into the same iCloud account on all three devices and Safari is switched "on" in the iCloud preferences. I restarted the iPad. I turned Safari "off" in iCloud prefs on the iPad. (When it asked what I wanted to do with Safari data synced with iCloud -- yeah, right -- I choose to keep it on the iPad. Then I turned it back "on" and no change on the iMac and iPhone.
Any suggestions?

Firefox Sync isn't intended for the purpose of doing a "backup" and restoration, but some users have been successful using it for that. You need to have your username, password, and the '''Sync Key'''.
IMO, you are better off doing it manually. <br />
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information <br />
That support article also cover restoration of your "information".
There's also the MozBackup program that is made for that purpose. <br />

  • Session History/Open Tabs Lost after CCleaner

I've been using CCleaner for years on my Dell with Windows XP. I just bought a HP with Windows 8 and installed CCleaner. Without even looking and thinking if things had changed, I ran the cleaner and it wiped out my entire FireFox browsing history (all open tabs that I needed for research). Please advise on how to get that back. I do not know how to create another profile and the internet doesn't tell me, but I've found sessionstore.jps and sessionstore.bak, I just don't know how to retrieve that information. There are no step by step directions that I've found once I've located those two files. Please help! Thank you kindly!

You would have to place the sessionstore.js file in the current Firefox profile folder.
A sessionstore.bak would have to be renamed to sessionstore.js
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Opening a webpage goes to previously open tab

Hopefully the question title describes the issue
Firefox must have done an update because for example I have a browers open with 10 tabs and then open a new tab to load google.com If one of the previous 10 tabs had google.com as a page I had loaded clicked or not then it jumps to that tab instead of using what I wanted as a brand new tab
How do I go about restoring this option as I can't see a way in the options screen and I can't figure out on about:config what to change there.
    Thanks again

  • Long time to open tab "change history" of  business partner in Web_ui.

    Dear experts!
Long time to open tab "change history" of  business partner in Web_ui.
4 records were opened for 10-20 seconds
    http://imglink.ru/show-image.php?id=22083a6a576f78c66c86863bf6b0573b
    1. In what may be the reason?
If the records are many, the discovery may be more than a minute.
    2. Is There a report for the purification of the " Сhange history" over a period?

    Hello Dilip,
One more alternative would be to increase the time out parameter in ABAP environment.
The steps to change this parameter:
    1) txn: RZ11 -> enter the variable name rdisp/max_wprun_time
    2) Display -> Change value -> Then input the value you would like        (ideally 3600)
    PS:
    1) Don't set this value too big, otherwise general performance will be
influenced, since lots of dialogue process will be occupied for a long
    time
    2) This parameter can be changed dynamically
Once the parameter is set please test again. You can try incremental
values and test which one does not give timeout error.
please refer to the note 25528 for more details about RZ11.
    Hope this helps!

  • Computer was shut down and need to know how to retrieve important information from open tab that isn't showing in history and wasn't bookmarked

My computer was shut down with live work still needing to be completed within an open tab of Firefox. The site that I was working from had not been bookmarked and a saved link back to the site had not been done yet either. After starting my laptop back up and opening Firefox, I don't have anything in the history taking me back to the site. Can I get back to that session at all and if so how? Or how do I search?

You would really have to ask the app developer if there is a way to export the data.
As for adding a printer, you would need to purchase an AirPrint compatible printer and connect it to your wireless network.
By the way, your holiday letter/rant/Idon't even know what to call it... is completely inappropriate for these forums.

  • Dozens of open tabs lost! Synced them, reinstalled Windows and Firefox, set up Sync, looked up "tabs on other devices" in history - Only a third or so listed.

Dozens of open tabs lost! Synced them, reinstalled Windows and Firefox, set up Sync, looked up "tabs on other devices" in history -> Only a third or so listed.
Usually, when I reinstall Windows, I manually backup my Firefox bookmarks and open tabs, but because Sync has worked perfectly for me in the past, I didn't do it this time. I backed up all my other files and settings and whatnot from the rest of my system, then in Firefox I hit the Sync button (put in on the GUI so I see if it's syncing or done) for the last time, waited until the green rotating dot was gone, closed Firefox, shut down the system, formatted the drive and reinstalled Windows and Firefox. After setting up Sync I waited a while to make sure everything is on my system.
Then I wanted to have all the tabs and windows open as I had on the old system, so I went to the history and "tabs on other devices". I could already see from the small size of the list, that tabs were missing. I went through all of them, opened them and sorted them into windows.
-> Maybe about two thirds of the tabs I had open on my old system are gone!
Not just new tabs that might not have been synced (although the button showed sync was complete), but also old tabs (from weeks ago) that must have been synced before. Actually maybe especially or even only the old ones are lost. And the lost tabs are not just from one of the open windows, but from several.
What can I do to recover my lost tabs?
They contain important websites that I didn't bookmark yet, articles that I wanted to read, windows with dozens of tabs on a topic that I did some research for and stuff like that.
What does the green circle mean? Does it indicate that the sync is complete (to the Firefox servers) or just that the changes have been saved locally and set up for some next scheduled sync with the Firefox servers?
    Further info:
I always run the newest stable release of Firefox (v19 on both systems). Old system was Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation, new system is Windows 8 Pro. My used Sync quota is about 10 MB. I had 4 Firefox windows open with different amount of tabs in each of them, from 10 to maybe 80 with an overall amount of 150-200. Most of them weren't loaded. Firefox start is set to "load last session" and tabs are set to "load when selected". Memory usage 500 MB - 1 GB.

I have most of the items bookmarked. Having 200 - 300 tabs open saves time, since I don't have to go to the bookmarks, if the tabs are already open. One problem has been crashes, but as long as I can restore a previous session, I can still get to the data. I had quite a few tabs open when I was planning to purchase a new computer. I also follow the stock market, and the weather. I was also looking at various VIrtual Private Networking (VPN) sites. At one time, I probably had 20 - 50 tabs open, just for those. I did bookmark a few, but unfortunately lost the VPN tabs, when Firefox crashed. Even if I don`t go to a particular group of tabs very often, leaving it open is faster, especially since I will know where they are. I often put the computer in standby mode, rather than shutting it off, especially if I will remain in the same location.

  • Closed all firefox windows by clicking the x 'cancel', then 'close tabs'. After reboot, couldn't recover open tabs, (options were not highlighted under History , i.e. Recently Closed Tabs or Recently Closed Windows). Why couldn't I recover my tabs?

When rebooting mac, I closed all firefox windows by clicking the cancel "x" and then clicked "close tabs". After rebooting I could not recover my open tabs, as none of the options were highlighted under History , i.e. Recently Closed Tabs or Recently Closed Windows.

I have been noticing that when using the computer the mouse keeps going in places where I really do not want and just now select the sentence without I have done anything. Sometimes goes to places like bookmark or open tabs in website when I am reading a page.
Also I have noticed opened windows that I have not opened.
I have verified the sharing folder and also the remote access but it not let me turn it off.
Also I have add a password to my computer and even using the same one it looks like is not working.
The I photo stopped working, Mac Mail does not let me add rules (this is from one day to the other)
The computer is mine, the internet I use is payed by me with a password. I did not give permission to anyone to use my computer or share my files.
In system preferences in the sharing folder is showing everyone and staff.
My computer is private I do not own a company and I do not have a network set up in my house.
I had my photos removed from my computer and even after trying to reinstall I photo and fix the Mac Mail is not working.
I am receiving emails saying that I have sent emails to people that I do not know and including in a time where I am working and not using the computer.
Any suggestions in how to fix this issue?
    I really appreciate.

With the multitude of issues you have I would take it to an Apple store or AASP and have them sort it out. Then I would sign up for Apple camp or one on one.

  • How do i set the homepage for new tabs? when i open tabs i would like it to go to google but i cannot find out how to do this.

when i open a new tab in firefox, it takes to me to a 'fast browser search' page and i would like to set it to open google.co.uk instead :(

It would seem if your choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" '''''and''''',
*when you last closed Firefox, you had no web site open (just a blank tab), that it would open just that blank tab
*when you last closed Firefox, you had one or more tabs/web site open, that would allow you to "Restore Previous Session"
    #Have you tried that?
#If so, what is happening in each circumstance when you reopen Firefox?
    '''Restore Previous Session'''<br />
Open tabs are automatically saved when closing Firefox beginning in Firefox 4. To open your last session, after Firefox starts, click History > Restore Previous Session. For this to work

  • How do I access open tabs from other devices in Firefox 4 for desktop (windows version)

I want to see the open tabs from other devices but I can't find how to access it.
Where do I find them in firefox 4?
    I use the windows version.
    Thank you!

This is for all versions (image attached below):
    1. In the top navigation (you might have to press the ALT key to reveal the menu), navigate to '''History - Tabs From Other Computers'''
    2. Alternatively; open a new tab and type '''about:sync-tabs''' then press enter.
NB: When you open a tab in the 'Tabs From Other Computers' window it '''WILL NOT''' remove that tab from the other device.

  • How can I get Firefox to stop saving the open tabs when it closes and reinstating them the next time it opens?

Even tho' I've set options for Firefox to delete history when it closes, it still remembers my open tabs and tries to reinstate them the next time it starts. This causes two problems: 1) it takes longer for Firefox to close, such that if I start it again a few sec later it is still running and won't restart; 2) it sometimes reopens websites I am no longer want when it next starts. The latter also makes the last sites I visited visible to the next user, which I (and I suspect most other users) want to avoid. I would like to turn this feature off since it is far more of a problem than a benefit!

    @cor-el
    I have the same problem.
My settings are already configured to "Show a blank page". It does show a blank page normally, but when FF crashes, it attempts to reload all the tabs from the previous session when it restarts. My version is: Firefox/3.6.13, and I'm running XP sp3 if that matters.

  • Open in Tabs always replaces  all other open tabs ?

This is unacceptable. Suppose I have 5 open tabs and then I pres Open in Tabs (this command is available on the Toolbar when I create collections)
This will close down all the 5 open tabs and replace them with the tabs in the folder!! I want to keep my 5 tabs open aswell.

Yes, I use the internet extensively most days and just switched to Mac/Safari from Windows/Internet Explorer. I love Apple and the Mac. So much easier to use in many ways, especially when you learn shortcuts. On Windows/IE I could have 3-6 browsers open, each with their own tabs, and see in them in the task bar and easily choose them. I am having trouble with this kind of visibility while switching in Safari. One thing I do love is the tab collections. Excellent! I have one for the weather, with 2 tabs in it, and one for my investments, with 3 tabs. I would agree strongly that their needs to be an option to open these collections in tabs, where it added to the existing browser's tabs instead of replacing them. Also, another need: Allow me to see titles of my open browsers and when I hit Apple` (Command`) to switch browsers, I see the focus change to the other browser title, on the bottom of the screen like the tabs go across the top. Or have them pop up where the tabs are now, when Command` is hit. Then they switch back when you let go of Command`. For people like me who are on sometimes 10 browsers, each with 3-5 tabs, all day long, there needs to be much more visibility to what is open, and easy ways using both shortcuts and mouse to navigate all of the browsers and tabs and be able to see your browser titles with tab titles underneath. Like a sitemap or an outline with indents. It could me similar to when you hit Command-tab. I actually think Command tab should be expanded to include the browser windows, each one becoming an "application" along side of Word, Mail, iCal, Address Book, etc, all of which I have open all day. Then I can easily switch between my apps and browsers and have good visibility. Now I have to switch to Safari, then a second motion and process to switch to the correct browser out of 3-6, or even 10 browsers. So you could put them in the popup when Command - tab is hit. Then under each browser, show me an abbreviated title of the browser, and under it, show me abbreviated tab titles associated with that browser. Allow me in preferences to show or not show the tab titles. Expose is great but I would rather have the choice to do everything with Command - tab. For how much I use the internet, Command-tab keeps my hands on the keyboard and saves me so much time because I don't have to take my hands off the keyboard. Expose is great, but I loose time. Clicking on the Safari dock icon and holding is good too, but again my hands leave the keyboard, maybe 50 times a day and it costs me time and is inefficient. This whole thing I just wrote is a fabulous idea. It would be revolutionary if Apple did this. Apple - If you like this idea I have another one that is completely revolutionary and a whole new product/communication concept. I need to get a provisional patent on it first before sharing it. Anyway, I'm an ideas guy and commonly have great ideas and would like to know how I can do that with Apple on a consulting basis through my company, Kokopelli's Earth, Inc. www.kokopellisearth.com. Meanwhile, I'm just going to keep posting on these boards. Watch my posts. They may not be often, but when I say something, it will usually be a pretty good idea. Or at least start the thinking process on how to improve something greatly. At least I think so. I love what you are doing. I have changed over all of my stuff to Apple. 2 Mac Books in the house, 2 iPhones, Mobileme, Time Capsule, Apple TV, Airport. Love it all, works so well and easy, great support on the phone and fabulous in the store. Amazing stuff. Sorry to ramble but I just needed to say all of that. Hope this helps someone. Peace

  • How can I see all my open tabs?

When I use the drop-down Windows menu, it only shows the name of the window, not the tabs within each window. And I don't an option for "Activity Window" (like on Safari), or anything else that will show me all open tabs. How can I see them, as flipping through every open window is a pain....

Does anyone have a response? Or know why even the windows listed in my dropdown list isn't even in alphabetical order? Why does FF make managing open windows and tabs so very, very, cumbersome and difficult?? No other browser is this lame when it comes to that.... Is it really so hard to put them in order, or to add an "Activity Window", which would show all windows and tabs that are open?
Also, WHY DON'T the tabs and windows that open up when I hit Restore Previous Session show up in the HISTORY???? If they did, then I could simply delete all the other history, and I would have a list of all the tabs/windows, so when the number becomes too big, I can simply close them out, and at least have access to a means of re-opening them, As of now, I'm stuck either writing them all down, or one by one saving them as bookmarks (which i really don't want to do), , or who knows what, but again, this is a royal pain, that other browsers make far easier....

  • How can I open all sync'ed open tabs all at once?

I would like to be able to open all sync'd open tabs on my 2nd computer all at once instead of clicking on each one of them from a list from the History menu.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I first installed FF Sync

The only way I know of doing this is to highlight all tabs in blue, in the history menu (shift and click) and then right click to open all. This should be a one button command! Thanks, hope this changes.

  • Before updating to FF 4.0, when I close, it warned me that I was about to close multiple tabs IT ALSO gave me the choice to save all open tabs (not bookmark) so they would all open once I opened FF again. Where is it???

When I close - it does still tell me that I am about to close multiple tabs... but it no longer gives me the option to save open tabs, NOT bookmark, SAVE open tabs. That way, the next time I open Mozilla, all the open tabs from my previous session would open once again. 'Save Open Tabs' is GONE - it would be very helpful to have it back. I don't use it all the time, but it was much easier to save open tabs when I wasn't able to finish what I was doing instead of having to search through the previous days history to find what I need when I start my next session!!!

Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
